Larchwood Lodge

This was our second visit to Larchwood lodge and gin we had a wonderful time.

The house is stunning and we also all enjoyed sitting by the log fire in the Rustic Retreat. There are lots of things to do which are not too far away. An excellent choice for a memorable holiday!

This is a very nice, well maintained property.

The owner shows great care and attention and was very welcoming. The property was spotless and you can see the attention to detail she takes and gives her guests. The property has everything you would need, and is decorated and equipped to a high standard. It's In a beautiful location with excellent views, the garden and outside areas cath the sun when it's out which it was quite a lot of the time. It was a great location for going exploring Aberdeenshire and the highlands. Would highly recommend staying here.

Great location set in the outskirts of Ellon, overlooking lakes.

Marion was there to welcome us as we entered the drive. The accommodation was spotless and the lodge has everything you need for a very relaxed stay. We have stayed in many holiday homes across the UK, and the Lodge is definitely one of the very best we have visited

Spacious, comfortable, very well equipped and meticulously clean. The owner lives next door and came to welcome us and check everything was okay. I highly recommend this property and would happily come back.

An amazing holiday lodge to stay in, we had the most fantastic time!

The attention to detail throughout is really impressive. When you first walk in, you are immediately taken back by how nice and clean everything is. There has been no expense spared making sure your stay here is a home from home - comfortable, well equipped, with lovey little extras on top. We really appreciated the beautiful handmade card, real flowers, the lovely bottle of wine, yummy rock cakes, milk/tea/coffee/sugar. All the little soaps, bottles of shampoo and body wash etc. We could not fault this place if we tried. The outdoor area is so much fun, with a fire to keep you warm. The fairy lights and foliage decor for ambiance - it is really well thought out and very cool. Even the garden around the property is beautiful, you feel like you are staying in a real home (if that makes sense). Simply wonderful, can't wait to return some day. There is also so much to see and do nearby, you are also in one of the best locations when you stay at this property. I would recommend this place highly to anyone, it was the best holiday lodge we have ever stayed in. Thank you so much to Marion who gave us the most lovely warm welcome, and for all you and Kevin have done to make this place extra special for all your guests.

Marion was so kind and the Lodge was immaculate,spacious and so well equipped. We felt so relaxed and comfortable right away. We had brilliant weather so could enjoy the gorgeous garden, and the outdoor Rustic Retreat in the evening. Aberdeenshire is just beautiful with so much to do , and Ythanbank is a perfect base to explore from. Would definately recommend a visit to Larchwood, and we hope to be back again in the future. We had a wonderful week exploring many of the area’s castles, using Larchwood Lodge as our base.

The lodge is fantastic, it has all amenities needed for a holiday and is finished to a very high standard throughout. It is extremely comfortable, and feels like more than just a rental property! It also has a wonderful outdoor area which we used during our stay. The owners were very friendly and we received some welcome items/supplies on arrival. I would love to visit again and would absolutely recommend it! Thank you Marion & Kevin.

If we could give the Larchwood Lodge more than a 10 we would.

It exceeded our expectations! Perfect location to explore the Northeast and East Coast of Scotland. The outdoor area was perfect. Cleaner than we could ever hope for. Outstanding attention to detail. The host was the most amazing person we met in Scotland. Words cannot express the feeling of comfort we had during our stay. I just can't tell you how much the stay at Larchwood made our 1st week in Scotland even more enjoyable.

Can't fault anything as even the weather was outstanding. Marion was a lovely host and left us a welcome pack with homemade cakes which were delicious. The house is perfect - the book of photos and details of how they built it is so interesting. It is on a road but has been designed so that you are unaware of this and the view is across open countryside. Bathrooms are so well planned and beautiful. Excellent location for North and East coast and for inland castles etc. So many things to see in the area.

Marion and Kevin's attention to detail including cleanliness and the lodge being well-equipped is next-to-none and we were gobsmacked by the facilities, especially the Rustic Retreat. We hope to be returning very soon.

It was the perfect home from home with everything you could possibly need thought out so well. A lovely warm welcome awaited us with some freshly baked cakes and welcome card, a fantastic information folder was left for use too.

Larchwood Lodge is a home from home - cleaned and maintained to a very high standard.

All the little extras that are usually missing were provided eg toilet rolls, dishwasher tabs, cleaning products and kitchen essentials. The beds are super comfy and the setting / garden is a lovely bonus. The views from the windows are magnificent and we saw the northern lights from the garden. One of the best cottages we have stayed in.

This was our second visit to Larchwood Lodge having been blown away by the quality of the accommodation, the setting and the hospitality of the owners on our first visit.

The second visit did not disappoint and it remains the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in in all respects including the design of the property, the very high standard of the furnishing and general provisions and the lovely garden setting and views from the balcony. We will definitely be returning again in the future.

Larchwood Lodge was absolutely amazing we loved every minute of it.

It was superb inside and out. Marion thought of everything and was absolutely lovely. Our favourite bit was the outside Rustic Retreat with the log burner sat out there every night was bliss.

One of the best properties we have ever had the pleasure of staying in.

Well designed, comfortable, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The owner, Marion was thoughtful, friendly, helpful and always on hand but never intrusive. We had great plans to explore the local area but found ourselves preferring to stay in and enjoy our wonderfully relaxing surroundings most days. We loved the 'rustic retreat' and managed to sit out on a couple of occasions when it wasn't raining and enjoy the lovely gardens. We even had the good fortune to observe a young deer at very close quarters through the bedroom windows feeding on some of the plants! We had the most wonderful week and would not hesitate to recommend Larchwood Lodge to anyone. We will be back!

This is a superb cottage, met all our expectations and some.

This area of Scotland is amazing so many beautiful coastal areas to visit. Great place which all the family enjoyed kids and the oldies. We highly recommend for a great break away from it all with all the comforts you could wish for inside and in the fabulous outside area.

Larchwood Lodge more than met our expectations - everything looked brand new, it was so clean and comfortable, and it was all attractively presented and accessorised!

Very well equipped - everything worked. The The host was also extremely welcoming and friendly - someone who really cares that her guests have a good stay.

Oh my word.

It was like living in a show house for a week. Everything was perfect. Great facilities, great base for exploring, comfortable, warm, Marion had thought of everything. I took all my cleaning products, cloths, dishwasher tablets and washing powder, there was no need, it was all provided. The additional touches were so welcoming. We even took a trip to Aberdeen to 'Heartfelt' where the room diffusers are made, and bought a few (haha). We usually get home sick by day 6 and end up leaving early, not here, we didn't want to leave. Absolutely loved it.

An absolute must if you are thinking about a Holiday in Northern Scotland, Larchwood Lodge was everything and more , spotlessly clean and everything you need for a stress free stay.

The outside area with Log Burner is a fantastic area to sit and relax with beautiful landscaped gardens , we really cannot rate this holiday home highly enough and would love to return one day ,

Outstanding and beyond - The cottage is 1 in a million - it's impeccable, ultra clean, and Marion the owner has gone to great lengths to make sure the guests are well catered for.

No stone unturned here..... the location, the cottage itself, the facilities, home comforts, garden, outside eating area, it's all above and beyond. We had an amazing 2weeks at this beautiful property.

It was top of the range in comfort, quality and cleanliness. This property was equipped with all you could need from toilet rolls to dishwasher tabs. Marion was so accommodating yet also respected our privacy. The outside area with Wood burner and barbeque was a lovely way to spend an evening. Highly recommend this property.

The lodge was absolutely perfect in every way.

It had everything you could need for a holiday away from home. There were many beaches and attractions nearby and the owner Marion was so helpful with advice on where to eat and what was going on in the local area. I would thoroughly recommend this lodge.

We just had fantastic holiday at Larchwood Lodge!

The lodge itself was cozy and comfortable, and the serene pond nearby added a touch of magic to the whole experience. We can't thank you enough for providing such a wonderful place for us to stay for the week.

Larchwood Lodge is a superb property in all respects - built to a very high standard by the owners and beautifully furnished with lots of thought and creativity.

It is by far the best holiday property we have rented. It was spotlessly clean with a thoughtful gift of wine and cakes left by the owners on arrival. Outside the gardens have been thoughtfully landscaped with a wild meadow left at the back of the house. There is also a covered outside kitchen area which unfortunately, due to the weather we were unable to take full advantage of. The upstairs lounge had a balcony which overlooks beautiful countryside and where we spent much time sitting with a glass of wine watching the cows grazing in the field. There are lots of places to visit locally and indeed we spent a very pleasant day at Balmoral which was about an hour and a half drive away. All in all a terrific property with very pleasant owners who built it from scratch over a number of years. We will definitely return there in the future.

A most beautiful house in great location, immaculately presented, the owners Marion & Kevin were an absolute delight, there was nothing to find fault with, I would strongly recommend this property to other people looking for a getaway near Aberdeen, it was fabulous

Cleanliness is 5 Stars. The property is very well equipped with everything you might need. Beautifully decorated with great attention to detail, and furnished with comfort in mind especially the beds. The gardens that surround the property are beautifully laid out. We returned for our 2nd visit to Marion and Kevin's Larchwood lodge.

What a dream destination in every way!! It is beautifully presented in each area of the house. The lounge and kitchen area upstairs has a fabulous view over the countryside and pond beyond which hosts an array of wildlife. The kitchen has everything any chef would require with a separate dining area for all the family. Downstairs the 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are superbly appointed and cleaned to perfection. The gardens are immaculate and tended on a regular basis. The rustric retreat is fantastic to put logs on the fire and cook a steak with a large glass of red or two. Marion is always at hand to assist with anything and to have a friendly chat. We plan to return again in 2024 as we look on Larchwood as a "second home". This is such a pristine house I would doubt if you would find one any cleaner.

Everything has been thought through to make a stay here the most enjoyable time. It is so clean, warm, comfortable ,spacious and ideal for being in the countryside but close to amenities. We would definitely return, in a hearbeat. The score should be a 20 out of 10! Thank you Kevin and Marion.

We had a fantastic stay.

The lodge was absolutely immaculate. I have never stayed somewhere that is so clean. Many extra thoughtful additions and detail over and above what you would normally expect in self catering. This lodge sets a bar much higher than anywhere else I have stayed. Even staying over Christmas there was everything we would need. I actually cannot find a single criticism.

Property really clean.

Very well equipped. High spec finish makes it feel a luxury find. Only downside was slightly intermittent internet.

No praise can be too high for this property and Marion is the perfect host.

Words have not yet been invented that would convey the warmth of the welcome & all the hard work & effort in putting together this modern, tasteful & functionally eco friendly retreat. The whole house simply invites you to step inside, wrap it’s arms around you & cater for your every whim! Outside the whole garden area is a place to relax & unwind whilst the “Rustic Retreat” takes you back to nights around the camp fire gazing at the stars. Managing all this from a discreet distance are Marion & her family who to say nothing is to much trouble would be an understatement! They have put their life into this property and it shows - many many thanks from Pauline Clive Blackledge.

This is just about the nicest holiday cottages we have stayed in.

Very clean, lots of space, we loved the upside down bit, going down to bed was different. The views from upstairs were beautiful. There are an abundance of birds in the gardens (which are kept in immaculate order). With birdsong and the buzzing of bees whilst sitting in the 'Rustic Retreat' relaxation was easy. The situation was perfect for visiting many of the most beautiful areas that Scotland has to offer. Weill we be back? Of course we will.

This was a return visit for my 60th birthday; having spent Christmas in this wonderful lodge, to catch up with family living locally.

The attention to detail is second to none.

Larchwood lodge was 5 star in every way possible.

Beautiful location with stunning views of the countryside and lovely gardens well laid out with mature pine trees to the rear of the property. The " rustic retreat" was great to throw logs into the burner, put a steak on the barbecue and pour a large glass of wine and listen to the logs burning and crackling in fire. The lodge itself was immaculate throughout with a fabulous lounge, dining and kitchen area upstairs with everything you would ever need for a week's break. Again Downstairs 3 superb bedrooms, with two fab bathrooms and two great showers. Marion was lovely and very attentive to every need. I would highly recommend a stay at Larchwood lodge and we have already booked for next year.

Would highly recommend. Comfy, cosy and nicely tucked away. Very private but close to the local town and all the most beautiful mountain scenery is not to far drive.

The lodge has everything you could need and the outdoor retreat is just the icing on the cake. Even though it was snowing we were warm and snuggly all afternoon watching the snow. Marion was a fantastic host and it was lovely to meet her. We will definitely be back!

Had the great pleasure of staying at Larchwood Lodge with my family (2 adults + 3 children) over New Year for 5 nights.

We all had a fantastic time. On arrival the lodge looked amazing in the dark with all the Christmas Lights in the garden and additional lights on the amazing 'Rustic Retreat'. And when we enteretd the property it was just so luxurious and relaxing inside we knew we had picked the right place to relax. Marion (property owner) had even personalised a few things for us, including a lovely welcome note and some essentials to help settle us in. The property truly is 5 star in terms of look and feel. And the facilities are top class. The lodge is located about 5 mins drive from the main centre of Ellon, and only 15-20 mins from a number of lovely tourist attractions for adults and kids. We visited several local beaches and a lovely soft play for my younger kids. So much more to do in the area for all ages. So if you are looking for a lovely base to relax in comfort, with the option of of some amazing sights and things to do within 30 mins of your door, Larchwood Lodge would be an ideal choice.

I would give this an 11/10, if I could!

The lodge and rustic retreat were perfect for our Christmas away from home, to catch up with family. Marion has thought of everything to make this luxury lodge so homely; from all the extras for Christmas including the decorations , sweets and hamper; to the essential foodstuff and cleaning materials. And what can I say about the outdoor rustic retreat - brilliant idea!

I would just like to say thay our holiday went a little bit pear shaped due to power being cut off one night which needed to be done and was totally not the owner's fault and we were given a voucher for the trouble which I thought was very generous of them and also had a flask given for hot water for a nice cup of tea

Larchwood Lodge is simply beautiful.

Remotely located just outside of Ellon, it has stunning views from the upstairs lounge and is within walking distance of some nice fields away from people, perfect for walking around with a morning coffee. The owners live close by and couldn't do enough for us to make sure we had the best holiday possible (The treats for the kids were very greatly received). The lodge itself was in excellent condition, super clean and containing anything you might need for a week away. There is an area outside called the Rustic Retreat which has a seeting area, log burner and BBQ and is a lovely place to chill in the evening. Look forward to staying here again. Thank You.

This property is the best house I have stayed in.

it is beautifully maintained and so comfortable. We were unfortuate with the weather during our stay but we at least had the cosy Lodge to return to. It had everything we could need and more. Marion and Kevin are exceptional hosts and nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere in the area.

The garden is great and secure, our two year old son loved running around. The rustic retreat in the garden is perfect at night with lights and the fire. ! What a fantastic location. We had the most fantastic time away.Marion & Kevin (the owners) have done a great job.They are a lovely couple Marion was only to willing to bring us more logs for the log burner if we needed any. We can't stop talking about their property.It was one of the best place's we have stayed in. It had everything you could ask for as a family holiday let.If you are looking for a great family accomadation then this is the place.Location is great with both Aberdeen and Peterhead within a 30 minute drive. What was great for us as a family of 6 all over 18 was the Rustic retreat where you had a log burner and a bar area. This is where we spent the lovely sunny evenings chilling out and chatting about the days adventures,and enjoying a few beer's. We hopefully would love to go back. The Collinson family. :)

We had a fabulous time in Ellon at Larchwood Lodge.

Marion was so welcoming and the cottage was spotless. The cottage is well looked after and the garden is stunning (our sons favourite part of the holiday!) Marion was also around to suggest places to go which was great as we came with an under 2 year old. Ellon was lovely and a great place to get away from it all and have some tranquility. It’s in driving distance of some Lovely beaches our favourite was Newburgh where we spent hours watching the seals coming and going. We would 100% come back.

The Lodge is amazing, the owners are really nice people, we had a wonderful time, the pictures don’t do justice to the level of detail and thought that has gone in to this holiday accommodation.

I've always wanted to stay in an upside down house Sleeping downstairs living up stairs with views . Very quite location, with Beautiful beaches near by.

Marion has thought of everything, and the standard is excellent. The outdoor space is phenomenal too, and the gardens are gorgeous. A lovely base to explore the surrounding area, with so much to see and do. I really could not recommend this cottage highly enough. We had a wonderful holiday.

Host very helpful and friendly, the accommodation was a joy to come back to in the evening after a day of sightseeing.

it is spotless, very well equipped, modern and very comfortable. It is a credit to the owners. The Rustic Retreat is a great outdoor space for socialising and there are plenty of places to visit near by. We had a fantastic week.

The house and the gardens are beautifully presented and with so much attention to detail. The features such as the rustic retreat and the hideaway added to everything to make this a perfect relaxing break.

Beautiful cottage that had everything you wanted and more!

Beautiful luxury lodge, great attention to detail, a credit to the owners.

Great outside space. Great location for travelling round the East cost and Moray areas. Some great beaches around the coast. Good location for bike rides at Haddo country park and the old railway line from Ellon to Udny Station. A visit to Newburgh to see the seal colony is a must.

This is an amazingly decorated and maintained property which had everything we needed for a fab family holiday - a touch of luxury with a really nice story on how it was built from the owner.

The owner who lives across the courtyard is brilliant and will leave you to it and left us some little surprises to welcome us - really nice touch. The area is fantastic for little walks and there is a small lake opposite which is great for a quick walk around. Ellon itself is quite small but has all you need including Brewdogs HQ & brewery if you like your ales. We did plenty in the area but our favourite day was the day we spent in Stonehaven - cliff walk (40mins each way) to Dunnottar Castle, relax on the beach and fish and chips from The Bay to finish it all- amazing. Overall a fab holiday and great property to base yourself from - the kids (and adults) will love the hideaway in the woodland if you can find it

Larchwood Lodge is fantastic, we had a great week.

The house is immaculate. Beautifully decorated, the bath/shower are excellent, the beds comfy, the kitchen fully equipped with everything we needed. A very relaxing, comfortable place to come back to after a day out exploring. The house is a short drive from lots of cool places. Particular highlights for us were Findlater Castle on the north coast, the clifftop walk from Stonehaven to Dunnottar Castle and cycling the country lanes around Cruden Bay. We loved our stay at Larchwood Lodge. Very highly recommended.

The little finishing touches were so sweet and the owners certainly made it feel like you were at home. The country side was exactly what we wanted and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Would highly recommend this lodge for a quiet relaxing holiday, and still so much to do nearby.
