    “A disappointing week in Piperdam.”

Our chalet was dark, cold and dirty. It seemed the only work the cleaners had done was change the beds and towels. The sofas were stained and covered in dog hair, the floors were sticky and grimy, we had to get someone to come and look at the boiler immediately as it was showing low pressure and there was no hot water. We did book a pet chalet but it was so scruffy and neglected, travelling with a dog doesn’t mean we should settle for squalor. the floors were so dirty that our children’s white socks and feet were black after just a few hours inside. I’m unsure what the cleaners are doing or more importantly who is checking the standards. The bedroom furniture was scratched and broken, walls had all kinds of scuffs and stains, the kitchen also has seen better days. We can’t really blame local park management for the neglect to the buildings, this lies with Landal overall, but given the cost for a week the standard offered should be much higher. A cleaner was sent over when we raised concerns on day 2 but all they did was make the floors wet, not really an improvement in the cleanliness. We were promised throws for the sofas so we could sit comfortably but these were never provided. The outside area was run down and sections of the decking were rotten and broken away. There were also many bags of rubbish underneath our decking area which was unpleasant to see. The site itself is nice but the roads are very potholed and need some work. The restaurant was good, the food was nice and the staff were all polite. The pool and activities were also well managed. Overall we wouldn’t stay here again. We were eventually left our break early as we couldn’t put up with the chalet any more. We welcome discussion on compensation or partial refund as the break experienced was not the break sold to us.
