The Chalet at Caldwell Cottage

Pros - very clean tidy and well kept.

Plenty warm enough and well equipped. Lanark is nice and New Lanark in particular is lovely + some very pleasant walking to be had from the chalet. Cons - Yes, it is short of storage/ wardrobe space. Not a problem for us though as only 2 in our party.

Beautiful place at a very peaceful place.

Only downside was no where to hang clothes other on the back of the bedroom doors. A small wardrobe would be great.

The property was comfortable and a pleasure to stay in.

It's not too far from Lanark should supplies be required. To enhance this, the television could be better tuned to help entertain us when the weather was very inclement.

A lovely little cottage and exceptionally clean.

There was ample parking and the SatNav took us straight to the property - a bonus in my book! Everything needed was provided, from tea, coffee/coffee pods, to milk and eggs. The heating worked well making our March stay warm and pleasant. The beds were comfortable too. For those interested, the WiFi worked well. My husband, our niece from the USA and I had an enjoyable stay, thank you!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Cadwell Cottage, the accomodation was better than we expected for the price we paid.

We would and have recommended it to friends and family and would happily stay in this cottage again. Also the garden area was brilliant for my 2 dogs all safe and secure and we enjoyed watching the wildlife that came into the garden.

Well equipped accommodation which was a perfect base for our family of 4 and 1 dog to explore Lanark and the surrounding areas.

I feel that some previous reviews are unfair, and if I had taken them on board, we would have missed out. For what you pay you get a lot and it was very cosy and warm.

We have used sykes for 10 years and have always been happy with the accommodation BUT this is the exception damp through the ceiling, light fittings missing, loose almost hanging off kitchen taps, loose toilet seat, flooring lifting near the door[trip hazard], paint coming g off the walls, and nowhere to hang anything or drawers to put stuff in.

The owners are selling their property next door and this really did show in this property. I would definitely NOT recommend this place

This property needs updating it’s beds are uncomfortable outside chairs are green with mould decking has weeds it is a concerted garage that has been converted,no wardrobes!

Loose tap on kitchen sink, flooring lifting at patio doors, paint off the walls where the chairs had been rubbing.

Bathroom shower occasionally didn't drain properly. Total lack of hanging space/storage in bedrooms. Weeds growing through the decking. Parking was great and good location. Appreciated the welcome pack, nice touch from the host.

My daughter, dog and I came here for a a 3 night break and had a lovely chilled/relaxed time.

The property itself is lovely and fully equipped with everything you need in kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Even provide a fan if you are too hot. A lovely touch was that the owners left some fresh eggs from their hens (which were very tasty) some Border biscuits which were delicious and a pint of fresh milk in fridge. The only downside for me was the back garden. Unfortunately it hasn't been well maintained ie grass cut. The patio area had ferns growing through the decking which was rather unsightly. Overall I would highly recommend and would stay here again.

Pleasant stay, well-equipped accommodation, but there is nowhere to hang your clothes.

The folder within the property is very useful. Lanark is a lovely place to visit.

The cottage was better than we had anticipated from the photos.

We had no car, but the cottage is a cheap taxi fare (£4.41) from the train station. One minor issue is the lack of wardrobes. Otherwise plenty of space outside. New Lanark and the Falls of Clyde are within walking distance (stunning during the deep frosts of early Jan 2025).

Beautiful cottage well kept and looked after.

Spotless on arrival and had everything you would need. Very cozy and warm esp at night. I would highly recommend.

It was great.

Perfect location inbetween Glasgow and Edinburgh. There were also plenty of walks around the local area so not a great amount of driving needed to see the surrounding history. The information folder was an absolute gem. The cottage was clean and well maintained it had a safe garden for my pug. It had just what we needed. The downside was we couldn't stay longer.
