“The location and surrounding area were gorgeous and the facilities on the site were good and was very dog friendly.”

Only disappointment was the actual Sandpiper as the cleanliness was very poor and when we first arrived it had an awful foist smell and had to try and drown it it out with numerous air fresheners, however it was still bad. We really hoped we would be able to spend some time sitting outside on a night having a few drinks but we just didn’t want to spend any time in or around. The outside seating area looked like it had never been used in months it was that dirty, so didn’t use it once ...

We really hoped we would be able to spend some time sitting outside on a night having a few drinks but we just didn’t want to spend any time in or around. The outside seating area looked like it had never been used in months it was that dirty, so didn’t use it once unfortunately. We even looked to try and hire a caravan on the site and was prepared to loose the money we paid unfortunately there were none available. So in general I would definitely go back to the area but just not this chalet.

Thank you for your comments, Mr Landells. I’m pleased that you liked Perran Sands. We love the area very much too, and have been revisiting for many years. In checking booking dates, we found that our previous guests stayed earlier the previous month, from the 11th to the 18th of July, vacating some 15 days before your arrival. The “ foist smell “ that you mentioned is certainly regrettable : that it’s cause is most likely the two week period of it’s being closed up, is not a mitigating factor, because it should have been opened up and fully ventilated immediately prior to your arrival. I offer my apologies that this was not done. Similarly with outdoor patio chairs and table, obviously the ravages of drifting sands and marauding seagulls take their toll, but as before, we would fully expect our guests to enjoy more pristine conditions throughout, which we will aspire to in the future. We wish you and your family happy visits to Perran Sands in the future. Property Owner

About the location

PERRANPORTH

Newquay 9 miles; Truro 9.5 miles.

Perranporth, a beautiful Cornish coastal town, lies in the heart of Poldark Country, the setting for the novels of Winston Graham who lived in Perranporth in the 1930s. Perranporth offers plenty of traditional pubs and shops, plus a classic bucket-and-spade beach that is lifeguarded in summer, overlooked by craggy rocks and a wonderful coastal path. Once known as the source of the finest tin, the community still retains reminders of the rich heritage with abandoned pump houses, mine shafts and workers’ cottages. The local Blue Hills Museum and Perranzabuloe Folk Museum are both well worth a visit to understand the fascinating history of this coastal area. Further afield are the miles of sandy beaches at Crantock and Holywell Bay, and the breathtaking coastal walks around St Agnes, much of it owned by the National Trust. A perfect holiday base in Cornwall, with an abundance of activities to suit everyone.

Note: On-site facilities include surfing school, pools, sports bar, climbing wall, cashless arcade, nature trail, bar, restaurant, café and shop,a pass can be purchased from reception allowing access to them all.
