“This is a very well located lodge on a good site offering additional facilities which can sometimes be hard to come by, such as gym/swimming pool, restuarant/bar, shop and games room.”

The lodge itself is a fair size and well laid out, with a very nice feature of a first floor balcony which gets a good bit of sunshine throughout the day. Three double bedrooms, so good for larger parties or if you have guests. The kitchen has all the things you need for cooking, washing and cleaning. The owners are very friendly and we received a useful whatsapp message from them before the stay with the immediate bits of information we needed. The only negative we have, and I'm ...

Three double bedrooms, so good for larger parties or if you have guests. The kitchen has all the things you need for cooking, washing and cleaning. The owners are very friendly and we received a useful whatsapp message from them before the stay with the immediate bits of information we needed. The only negative we have, and I'm guessing this applies to all of these lodges as I think it's a building issue rather than a maintenance issue is that the air in the ground floor space is quite damp and you are greeted when you first enter with a fusty smell. This then transferred itself to our clothes over the course of the stay. Clearly this single issue wasn't a massive problem for us though. We liked the lodge and the site that much that we have booked again for next April!

Hi Paul Thankyou for your positive feedback and enjoyed your stay at running waters. As you say a great position on site close to the amenities. And great for visiting Devon and Cornwall. Sorry you thought downstairs was damp. The downstairs is all dry lined so not damp but I think as it's set in the woodland area the mornings this time of year sometimes are wet and cold and the lodges are colder downstairs because of this but soon warm up with the heating on. so glad you enjoyed and look forward to welcoming you back next April kind regards julie and steve Property Owner

About the location

CALLINGTON

Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles; Plymouth 14.6 miles.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.

PLEASE NOTE: The pools and gym will be closed for annual maintenance/improvement work from Monday 27th Feb to Sunday 12th March 2023.
