“A stunning location and amazing place to stay.”

The escapism with wildlife surroundings all amenities catered for. Underfloor heating was great when the temperature started to drop. A perfect place to escape unwind if needed. Very local to all lovely villages in Cotswolds for a drive out. The Star pub in Ashton under hill served lovely food - the Sunday dinner was amazing

Weird! Hot tub no jets maintenance man said they all need changing however chlorine so high couldn’t get in Toilet used in morning at 8am all waste water came out short cutting electrics contacted owners maintenance man there 3 hrs no electric no toilet our breakfast ruined Worst experience in 25years will be complaining to Sykes this week with pictures Very happy

“Lake view Yut is a beautiful retreat with total privacy, and a fantastic view of the Lake.”

There was even a small rowing boat so we were able to get out onto the water which was very tranquile. We totally enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a chilled and relaxing few days. We spent most of our time in the hot tub or on the terrace. The host Sarah and Dave were so welcoming and so accommodating. We will definitely be returning. Nina

My only concern this time is the weeds at the back of the yurt need keeping down , I photograph the wildlife and its makes it difficult to capture a decent picture. Apart from that perfect relaxing holiday. Sarah as helpful as always .

“Ths is not an attack on the owners.”

The location and environment is lovely. The yurt itself is not up to standard. The door lock is rusty/corroded, if you lock it at night expect to climb out the window to get out. The hot tub shows no signs of maintenance, the water seemed over used/murky and the filters need cleaning, no signs of chlorine in the water (is there evidence of it being maintained for holiday let use?), the sauna didn’t heat up any more than 59 degrees (recommendation is about 75 degrees), so we couldn’t use sauna or hot tub. kettle is rusty/corroded and a few Tupperware bowls would have been nice, as well as, instructions on how to use the convection oven and induction hob. We left after 24hrs of our stay. Too many issues!

It’s not really that far off the beaten path, but it still feels a bit hidden tucked away from every day life. The yurt was equipped with all the amenities (and luxuries!) needed for an extended stay. We’re really looking forward to visiting again.

There is so much wildlife nearby I wish we had brought our binoculars. We had a relaxing break away and would definitely come back. Cleanliness was good, but there were a lot of cobwebs inside the yurt.

“Kitchen equipment could be improved.”

Only one champagne flute, one pint and one half pint!! Two wine glasses was fine, but that was it. There was washing up liquid, and dishwasher tablets, but the dishwasher immediately said it needed salt and rinse aid, so we had to go buy that. Knives extremely blunt! Sauna not working effectively, takes a couple of hours to reach an acceptable temperature. Main thing was the cleanliness, the floor clearly had not been swept or mopped and the drawers and bedside table that pull out were terribly dusty and mouldy. The tap/shower head over the bath leaks really badly all over the floor. Don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful and peaceful location, hot tub was great, I just think it is looking very tired, could do with a bit of tlc and better cleaning done.

Animals and bird life fantastic. We think now it needs a bit updating and also rather than a dishwasher it could do with a small freezer as there are only 2 people and no need for a dish washer.

Not all the windows open, indoor table and chairs would be nice instead of a breakfast bar. Toilet facilities are okay for “No 1’s” but not for “No 2’s”, blocked several times. Hot tub has definitely seen better days, and could do with replacing.

“Another wonderful holiday at these comfortable yurts.”

We have been about 12 times and hate leaving. First time we took our dog Ginger and she loved all the wildlife and the farm terrain. We saw 6 deer, herrons, geese, 19 goslings in one family, barn owl, ducks, black swans and a sygnet, cormorant, squirrels, pheasants and king fisher; but no Partridge in a pear tree!! Can't wait until we return, very restful, relaxing and of course we drank and ate well.

“Hot tube burnt me to much chlorine in water and was very dirty.”

Sauna was dirty and smelly boat engine didn't work microwave didn't work. Toilet blocked everytime you put paper into toilet. Slugs getting into yurt somehow. Yurt was very quiet and peaceful but wouldn't go again as nothing worked and everything was dirty

“We arrived on Sunday the 1st August we met by the owner, who showed us to the yurt we had a brilliant stay the hot tub was amazing the view and the ducks was lovely sauna was OK shame we had to clean out the boat and the electric motor didn't work which we was told it worked as for the place its self I think it could have been more updated in the kitchen.”

Apart from that you don’t see another soul unless one of the other guests take a trip out on the lake in their boat. It’s just you and the amazing scenery and wildlife. We were shown around by Dave who was very helpful & friendly.yurt was clean and had everything you needed the towels and dressing gowns were lovely and fluffy and a lovely touch.bed was very comfy and huge..loved the hot tub & sauna which we used everyday. Used the BBQ and chimnea every day whilst over looking the lake with spectacular views.the ducks were very friendly and would feed from our hands which was fab..my heart hubby enjoyed fishing and caught quite a few fish..we want to the the star in a couple of times for food which was really nice and just a 5 me mute drive and we had some lovely walks . just everything about our stay was unreal it was secluded and peaceful and we couldn't of wished for anywhere better to spend our anniversary and will definitely be booking to come back

“The best part about the yurt was the hot tub & amazing views of the lake - very relaxing.”

The yurt was stocked with nearly everything you need and bed was clean & fresh. Bath towels and robes were a great extra. However, the cleanliness of the yurt was not quite up to standard. When we arrived, there was lots of cobwebs and spiders especially in the bathroom. The toilet itself was clean but the bathroom was very grimy, the cupboard even had dead wood lice inside. The pipe above the toilet leaked rain through the ceiling and unfortunately these things really let the yurt down. The yurt also allowed for lots of creepy crawlies to enter including slugs, which we believe was due to the gap between the yurt wall and skirting by the bed and bath. The bath was lovely but was dirty when we arrived. As well as this, we never used the sauna outside due to the cobwebs covering both the inside & out which was a bit of a let down. Overall, the yurt needs a deep clean and ultimately the lack of cleanliness was what has let it down for us.

Did not feel covid safe. Very cold and damp in the yurt due to the skylight dripping water/condensation constantly unfortunately this also dripped onto the bed and made it cold and dampfor this reason we chose to drive home on the Thursday evening and did not stay our final night on the yurt.

Thank you for your feedback. This is very out of character for this yurt as the feedback is always excellent. The owners are on hand to help you if needed during the holiday. The property is cleaned using the cleaning guidelines that we are working with for Covid 19. The owners provide sanitisers. It didn’t disappoint at all! Beautifully peaceful surroundings, glorious weather, great food cooked on the BBQ and pure relaxation! Everything was as it should be, the owners were incredibly lovely and accommodating. We spent some time on the lake in the boat surrounded by inquisitive geese and black swans! We made friends with a gorgeous pink footed goose whom we named Pete! He would come right to us and ask for food! Not aggressive at all but very chatty and personable with us. We saw a gorgeous black deer in the nearby field and heard the owls at night! The projector screen and abundance of movies was a lovely touch. The kitchen was well stocked and the outdoor furniture was well used this weekend. The hot tub although glorious was a little too hot to use with outdoor temps of 31! But when we used it we were incredibly relaxed and enjoyed it immensely. Overall an amazing weekend and just what we needed. We would love to come back again for sure. Thank you Sykes and thank you to the owners for sharing this beautiful setting.

“Wonderful little gem hidden away from noise and society!”

I booked the yurt for a surprise engagement location and it was more than perfect. The owners were very friendly and allowed me a later check in than would be usual due to work, and also allowed me to decorate the yurt with personal touches for the engagement. Hot tub is lovely, in there most of the time and going out in the boat was a nice romantic touch. Only downsides if any would be the guese are very loud in the morning and the natural light comes through the ceiling so not much chance of sleeping in. Overall though highly recommend!

The outside area was a little tired but that's living outside! It just added to the rustic charm of the place. We had a fantastic week, we spent so much time watching the wildlife and making friends with the ducks and geese (especially Wonky with the dodgy wings who ended up feeding from our hands). I still miss the early wake up call tapping on the yurt door! The sauna and hot tub are perfect for relaxing and we BBQ'd 5 nights out of the 7. So peaceful, so beautiful and we have already booked to come back next year :)

“My partner and I really loved this holiday.”

It was so peaceful and there was so much to do around. The setting was absolutely incredible and it was very relaxing. The yurt was lovely and warm and cosy. The surrounding towns were beautiful and very dog friendly! It does however look quite tired and it could do with some work doing on it. The hot tub was very old and the bubbles barely worked and the sauna never got that hot. However, these were small things compared to the overall experience, hence the high rating. Overall a lovely experience and I would recommend!

“Brilliant relaxing week in lakeview yurt.”

Extremely secluded, not over-looked except by the ducks and if other yurters were out on their boat!. Thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub (hot and clean) and sauna overlooking the lake. Daily al fresco dining - including the chimenea oven, we managed to cook pizza, steak and sausages on it, perfect! And the "egg" BBQ is a beast once it gets going! One word of warning, there are a lot of spiders, so arachnophobes beware! Recommend the local beckford inn for great food - the shortcut through the deserted farm buildings at night was an experience though, bring a torch! The Star Inn at Ashford also good and better value. And recommend visiting local villages of Broadway (nice boutique shops and brilliant deli), the Slaughters (possibly most picturesque village we've ever been to) and Stow on the Wold for decent shops. Will definitely look to return in future.

“We liked the overall feeling of being totally alone and buried in beautiful surroundings.”

It was so peaceful and with daily visitors from our duck families. We had a few days with rain but didn't spoil the experience. Didn't expect the yurt to be so big, then the extra outdoor part just makes it plenty. We used the rowing boat at least once a day to visit all the wonderful hidden pockets around the lake. Lovely people that own the yurts too!

We also had use of the owners rowing boat, parked right outside our Yurt and we went for a Yurt that had its own hot tub and sauna. This was better than we imagined and we would do it again. Being able to fish in the lake whenever you want is also a great plus.

The kitchen was lovely and just the right size for two, it was nice to have a dishwasher. There is now an indoor toilet and the bath was huge. The under floor heating soon had the whole Yurt cosy and warm. We spent our evenings in the hot tub and sauna, it was lovely to lay back and look up at the stars. We will be booking again.

The beautiful setting and peaceful surroundings were a big bonus. We loved the lake and the wildfowl, made lots of new friends with ducks, swans, geese and especially two baby Moorhens! The accommodation was ideal, spacious, classy and had one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! The owners were lovely and made us very welcome. Can't fault it, and we will certainly book Lakeside Yurt again in the very near future.

“Love the Yurt.”

It's a great original idea and alternative to camping. The scenery from the yurt is beautiful and the facilities make it; the hot tub is great. Love the chiminea and watching the stars at night. The wildlife were great to watch and feed. The chicks are very cute and fluffy. It's a great place to chill out relax and watch the world go by.
