“The site was spacious and well laid out with privacy which for us was important.”

The lodge is in a very shady area but there is some grass at the side if you wish to sit out in the sun, unfortunately the owners didn’t supply deck chairs so we had to buy our own. The lodge itself needs quite a bit of maintenance. There are no windows only doors with glass which is ok when you can have them all open but at night it’s very hot and airless. The lodge itself needs quite a bit of maintenance. There are no windows only doors with glass which is ok when you can have them all open but at night it’s very hot and airless. The hot tub cover is very heavy and also falling apart, the decking is also uneven and an accident waiting to happen. The fridge, toaster & oven need to be replaced. Just a suggestion the owner should spend some time at the location and see for themselves. Simple things like the mat at front door is a hazard but cheap to replace. We enjoyed our stay but were disappointed with the lodge and when you are paying for something you expect better standards.

The property

Set alongside a gently flowing stream and edged by woodland, 8 Streamside is a peaceful, well-appointed lodge just a short drive from Looe, Polperro and Fowey.

With lakes, wildlife and walking trails on the doorstep, plus easy access to Cornwall’s south coast, it’s an excellent choice for couples, families and friends seeking privacy, space and a restorative countryside escape.

The lodge sits within a generous plot, offering a reassuring sense of seclusion.

Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the surrounding trees and draw natural light into the open-plan living space, while doors open directly onto a private deck with outdoor furniture and a sunken hot tub, ideal for relaxed mornings, alfresco dining or winding down beneath clear night skies.

Inside, the living area feels bright and welcoming, with comfortable seating, a large TV and a wood burner that makes it especially appealing for cooler seasons.

The well-equipped kitchen is designed for easy self-catering, whether that’s a simple breakfast before heading out or a family meal enjoyed together around the dining table.

When it’s time to rest, the master bedroom offers a king-size bed, Freeview TV and a modern en-suite shower room, while the twin bedroom is perfect for children or additional guests.

A contemporary family bathroom with bath and overhead shower completes the layout, providing flexibility for longer or multi-generational stays.

Guests can stroll to The Old Mill Bar & Restaurant onsite, a popular spot for wood-fired pizzas, relaxed evening meals and handcrafted cocktails, all served by a friendly team frequently praised in guest reviews.

Woodland trails and lakeside walks begin right outside the lodge, making it easy to explore without ever getting in the car.

For days out, the picturesque harbour town of Looe offers beaches, boat trips and coastal walks, while Polperro’s narrow streets and fishing heritage are full of character.

Fowey is known for its independent shops and ferries across the estuary, and family-friendly attractions such as the Eden Project, Adrenaline Quarry and Porfell Wildlife Park are all within easy reach.

Beach lovers are well catered for too, with East Looe Beach, Talland Bay, Seaton and Lantic Bay offering a mix of lifeguarded sands, scenic coves and dog-friendly options year-round, alongside access to the South West Coast Path.

About the location

LANREATH

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
