Having stayed at 6 Waters Edge in May, I absolutely loved the idyllic location with the lakes right at the edge of the deck.
I enjoyed it so much that I decided to return, this time staying at 4 Waters Edge. Unfortunately, the comparison was night and day. While Lodge 6 was well maintained and clean, Lodge 4 has been completely run into the ground. The issues began in the kitchen. The fridge had an inch of thick ice at the back and reeked of stale milk (I had to adjust the settings myself just to fix it). The kitchen has clearly suffered a leak at some point. The wooden worktop was black in places from either mold or wood rot. Both the sink and the dishwasher stank of damp. I managed to improve the sink situation with some disinfectant, but I eventually gave up on the dishwasher. After running it a few times, the smell remained awful, it appeared to be missing a filter or filter cover, and it didn't even clean the dishes properly. The hot tub was in equally poor condition and is actively falling apart. Only a single jet actually works, the cover is disintegrating and dropping insulation foam directly into the water, and the filter kept floating out. While staff do check the pH levels daily, that is where the maintenance ends. The decking glass are turning green with algae, looking like they've only had a rushed rag run over small parts of them. The promotional pictures, while once accurate, are clearly years old. With zero ongoing maintenance, everything here is run-down and the cleanliness is highly questionable. 4 Waters Edge is in a beautiful location and was likely stunning once, but "luxury" does not go hand-in-hand with dirt, mold, and rotting wood. I have honestly stayed in cleaner and better maintained budget B&Bs;. Save your money or book Lodge 6
The property was lovely but the hot tub didn’t work.
We reported it twice to reception but not looked at and no communication. It’s was booked as a birthday surprise and as an arthritis sufferer I was looking forward to it. Very disappointed as it’s my 3rd visit to the park but feel very let down when things go wrong. Used the WhatsApp service as well but still waiting for a response. A lot of money paid for a disappointing weekend.
Had such a lovely, peaceful week at 4 Waters Edge.
Love these lodges, a beautiful site, lots of wildlife, wild flowers, helpful staff, all very safe, quiet and friendly. The lodge was in a great location - not far off the main road with a narrow typical Cornish road down to them, but plenty of passing places. It felt like you were in the middle of nowhere but not far from the sea or shops. Not a site for families, more for couples, I'd say. The lodge itself was a little tired with a few bits looking like they needed some TLC, but I'm picky! The only thing that let it down really was the green, dirty glass balcony panels which I asked to be cleaned but they never were, which was a shame as it spoilt the deck view somewhat. Would I go again? Definitely.
