Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. However, we feel it is important to clarify the facts for the benefit of future guests considering a stay at Tor View. This booking was made through Sykes Cottages, who handle all guest communication during the stay. At no point during the guest’s visit did they report any issues to Sykes, the housekeeper, the resort team, or ourselves. Had anything been raised while they were at the property, it would have been addressed immediately, as is always our policy. All of our properties are professionally cleaned and inspected before every arrival. As part of our quality control process, the lodge is fully photographed and video recorded immediately after cleaning, including rooms, drawers, and external areas. This footage was supplied to Sykes Cottages, who confirmed the property was presented in excellent condition prior to the guest’s arrival. None of the issues mentioned in this review were visible in the inspection record. It is also worth noting that the guest requested and agreed to pay for an early check-in service, which allows access at 1pm rather than the standard 4pm arrival time. This is not a profit-making service but simply covers the additional staffing required to prepare the lodge several hours earlier than usual. Despite agreeing to this in advance, the fee was later refused. Following their departure, the guest also left a smartwatch at the property. We offered to send this back the same day via tracked delivery, requesting only that the outstanding early check-in fee and postage be covered. The guest declined to pay either and stated they were “happy for us to retain the watch.” Only after these exchanges did this review appear, nearly a month after the stay had ended. For reassurance to future guests: every Devon Holidays lodge is cleaned by the same professional housekeeper each time, with photographic and video evidence taken to ensure standards are met. The property is then checked again by multiple members of the housekeeping team. Contact details for the housekeeper, ourselves, and the resort team are provided in the lodge and in the digital guide so that any issue — however small — can be resolved immediately.
