    “2nd stay at Southern Halt, in March at 11 Horizon View, would have been 5 stars.”

    However, 6 Southern Place is only a 3. Booked as we wanted a covered hot-tub for November. However, the lodge and fittings were not up to scratch. On entry it smelt damp and musty, track down to left side of the bed - had to have bedroom windows on latch all week (below zero some nights). The lobby area has no coat hooks (seen review going back years mentioning this) and lobby cupboard has a broken bracket - can be bought online for less than £10. The TV was blue - managed to remove most ...

    However, 6 Southern Place is only a 3. Booked as we wanted a covered hot-tub for November. However, the lodge and fittings were not up to scratch. The TV was blue - managed to remove most of the blue - but needs changing suspect there is a plinth light not working in lounge area too. Lots of blinds damaged, either twisters or where people open windows through the blind. Kitchen was good for a one bed lodge, only issues were the can opener didn't work, and maybe change the frying pan. The bottom shelf over bath needs fixing, otherwise well equipped bathroom area (no heating in toilet, chilly at below zero). The bedroom has a few unusual options (suggests privately owned previously). The bed is low due to the weird box on the roof (with missing TV and only 1/2 lights working), there is also a weird spotlight (not working) above bed. Outside, the hot-tub is a pain to remove and put cover on as needs to be spun 90 degrees to move into a position where it can be stored, the cover needs to be changed anyway - so could be resolved), also for about 30 minutes work, could fix slats on the fence, remove cable ties on the posts and fix the 2 broken lights. I suspect the whole site could do with someone snagging each lodge and a little time spent of resolving issues.

DOBWALLS

Liskeard 2.6 miles; Looe 8.4 miles.

The rural village of Dobwalls is surrounded by open fields and wooded countryside, and is close to the market town of Liskeard, the slopes of Bodmin Moor and the glorious north and south Cornish coastlines. This is a perfect base for exploring the many delights the region has to offer, with the picturesque fishing harbours of Looe, Fowey and Polperro within 15 miles to the south whilst Padstow and the surfing beach at Polzeath lie a comfortable drive away on the North Coast. Take a trip to Siblyback Lake and enjoy the wonderful sailing, fishing and watersports on offer, or travel a little further and take advantage of the superb walking on Bodmin Moor. The Eden project lies within 15 miles and Plymouth is just a 30 minute drive, or 25 minute train ride from nearby Liskeard station. With the Barbican harbour district, renowned aquarium, and good selection of shops, restaurants and theatres, this is a great holiday base.
