Trout River Retreat

We had a wonderful stay.

The Wi-Fi wasn’t very fast, but in a way that was nice—it encouraged us to disconnect from technology and fully enjoy the beauty of nature.

The cabin in pictures looks lovely.

In reality not so good. It really needs a good clean. The bath was dirty and mouldy. Worktop in kitchen around the hob area very sticky. Microwave needs a good clean. Fridge had an odour. It needs to be brightend up. Why have a bedroom downstairs with a toilet and hand-wash basin right next to the bathroom and the main bathroom upstairs with no facilities. Coming down the spiral staircase at night to use the toilet is a hazard.

Beautiful location and very relaxing.

A little tricky to find, but that just added to the feeling of being within nature. The lodge was clean and well maintained and the hosts were polite and friendly.

Such a lovely spot and so cosy - we really enjoyed our stay at the lodge and are already looking forward to returning.

The site is so secluded and quiet and we saw numerous deer in the field as well as bats at dusk which the kids loved. Great walks in the woods and river very nearby. Kitchen is excellent for self catering and the lodge is well heated and snug.

We came here to escape from city's fast life and relax.

Very comfortable stay indeed in the woods with nature all around to appreciate. Us a family had great time staying in Trout river retreat. Would highly recommend everyone to try.

The property was generally presented in a clean, tidy and comfortable state.

However, the kitchen work surfaces, cooker hood and utensils could have been cleaner. Facilties, heating, shower, etc. were excellent with plenty of cleaning products on hand. We had a small problem with the shower water temperature, but this was resolved very quickly by the owner. Due to the location it would be advisable to ensure that you bring plenty of food etc. for your stay. The owner kindly left fresh milk in the fridge. The location is simply stunning with lots of birds and other wildlife to see and peaceful walks nearby. We would spend hours just sitting and admiring the beautiful scenery. The perfect place to switch off and relax.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at trout river retreat.

It is in a quiet location within a short distance to many local attractions but there is a need for some maintenance and moderization throughout. Don't let this review put you off staying here as it is a great place and good value for money.
