Lodge 55 was in the perfect location for us on the site , right at the bottom of the hill next to the stream, so lovely and quiet with the sound of running water .

. the lodge had everything we needed for a self catering holiday plus the added extra of free facilities to use on site aswell as a public house . The 1 draw back of the pool which is nothing to do with the lodge is that children from age 8 could use without having an adult present so unfortunately the week we went there were alot of rowdy children without supervision which spoilt the experience so we did not use the facilities after the 1st visit but this wasn't the reason we booked the holiday so wouldn't put us off going again .. maybe the lodge could invest in a hottub like a few of the other lodges as an added upgrade as that could certainly be a pull for me to go again ..had a few encounters with the owners and they are amazing nothing is too much trouble and they would bend over backwards to make sure you had a comfortable stay so a very special thank you to val and her husband . We work hard like many other families so we always look for a week down south to have a relax with the family and do as much or as little as we like and this could definitely become our yearly getaway as we have stayed down south every year for the past 8 and as we were driving back to south wales we all agreed on looking to go back either towards the end of this year before the madness of Christmas or afterwards early next year , we could never abandon our abroad holidays as we love to travel and as we are a cooking family the only criticism for the utensils in the kitchen are that some new cooking knives and pans could be introduced as prepping for a Sunday lunch with what was there was a bit of a work out but got the job done .. we would 100% rebook and stay again.
