Meadow Lodge

I have been booking with Sykes for several years, and have found all the properties to be off a very high standard.

However there were several irritations I feel I need to mention so the owners can remedy them. There was no dishcloth, or cloth to wipe surfaces in the kitchen, the one bedside light in ensuite doesn’t work and the one light in the bathroom flickers all the time (we kept the light off because of this) I slept in the smallest bedroom and had to keep the curtains closed because no privacy otherwise- very claustrophobic, suggest blinds or nets. We also had to use one of the bedroom towels in the kitchen as nothing else provided. There was nowhere to hang clothes in the second bedroom other than a coat rack (no hangers either) Unusual collection of glasses (no wine?) This is also the first time the pillow cases haven’t been ironed. I hope these comments can be taken in the spirit they’re given, I have never had anything negative to comment on before, maybe that’s why we were a little disappointed this time.

Beautiful lodge in a quiet location.

The property was clean and well maintained, with a really nice level of furnishings. The only drawback we could see was the television and operating the satellite system, which was finicky to say the least. Otherwise, a really lovely place to stay and very comfortable.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay.

The Lodge was superb with everything we needed. The site was peaceful and Newton Ferrers itself a beautiful location. Would definitely recommend.

We had a thoroughly lovely time in Newton Ferrers in the lodge.

It was perfect for us, with everything we could want. Everything was in good working order (once we worked out how to switch the oven on!), the location is good and the owner was very kind in providing a high chair for the (almost) toddler. The accommodation was lovely and warm despite the rotton weather whilst we were there, the sun really got to work on the lounge/dining area. We would definitely return if we were looking for somewhere to stay near Plymouth.

The Lodge is absolutely fantastic, very clean and well presented.

In a great location and a real home from home, i would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break away from it all

Fourth year at Meadow Lodge and as always perfect.

Hosts are five star. Meadow Lodge has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Wonderful walks and beaches nearby. Newton Ferrers is a very pretty village with post office, chemist and Co op. The road down to the river is steep but worth it, Dolphin pub is very good and great walk through the woods along the riverbank. Highly recommend Meadow Lodge.

We had a wonderful stay at Meadow Lodge.

It is in a lovely, quiet location, felt really homely and had everything we needed. The milk and biscuits on arrival were really appreciated. It was mostly really clean but there were a few dusty areas and things that needed cleaning in the kitchen. The only thing that would have improved our stay would have been blackout blinds or curtains in the bedrooms, as the bright sunlight woke our children up quite early each morning. Overall a wonderful stay and we would definitely return.

Excellent spacious lodge so quiet at times apart from some inconsiderate neighbours going out at 5 am and back in hour, lovely walks to the creek and harbour only thing no good for my husband all steep hills also the drive to lodge could do with being done properly it was gravel and slippy , would go back if was mobility friendly

Very comfortable accommodation, bedrooms all excellent.

Kitchen had everything we needed and was easy to use all appliances. Did have to wash a few things before we used them as they were greasy and sticky (frying pan, glass chopping board, some of cutlery), all cleaned up fine and able to use items. Could have benefited from some hooks in the bathrooms and bedrooms, nowhere to hang towels (radiator in bathroom could take one, but with more than one person using bathrooms, it was less than ideal). Location was easy to find from instructions and information pack had good recommendations for local food and places to visit. Had a very pleasant week and would definitely go back and stay again.

.easy instructions to find property. Book helpful to explain things we need to know. Well equipped kitchen. Oven a little temperamental, and cooking times. Did find some glass on a chair.. which we left a note for in the lodge.

Fabulous stay in Newton Ferrers.

Comfortable and well equipped lodge with comfy beds, hot and strong showers and a practical kitchen. Great views over the creek valley and was wonderful to wake up to such a dawn chorus every morning. The owners were responsive and helpful at all times. Make sure you check out the Green (deli) and the Dolphin Inn!

This place is an absolute gem and a delightful location in the village of Newton Ferrers.

Tastefully appointed and well equipped it catered perfectly for our restful 4 night stay. The bath is absolutely fantastic and a real treat for this 6ft 2” chap! I agree with other comments that the sofa is rather uncomfortable.

The settee was a little uncomfortable and the bathroom door handle was very stiff but apart from that we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay made even better by the lovely weather.

Nice location on a small site which was quiet and peaceful during our stay. Newton Ferrers is small but with the necessary facilities. Being Devon there are many small and in places narrow lanes and roads in the area. Highly recommended.

What a peaceful place just to sit and relax outside on the decking , all you can hear is the birds.

Wonderful views of the church and hills where cows are grazing . The Lodge is fabulous, especially the huge bath

This is our third stay at Meadow Lodge and as always everything was perfect.

They even sent on an ear ting I left behind. The owners are outstanding and offered very practical and kind support to my family when I ended up in hospital. Really can't thank them enough and hope to be back next year.

All good for our needs had my mum who loved the holiday my sister and her 8 year old daughter who didn’t want to leave .

Holiday was great with the folder giving us ideas where to go which didn’t disappoint. The only down point was the weather what you can’t control but the place gave us loads of indoor games to use. The owners know how to make your holiday go well

Well presented accommodation and well situated.

Perfect base for relaxing and exploring the local area, everything at the lodge that we needed, well stocked kitchen with essentials and more, welcome pack much appreciated and enjoyed playing the family games thoughtfully left at the lodge.

Comfy beds and sofa (my son preferred the bed to his own at home!) and we were able to make full use of the outdoors furniture due to falling very lucky with the weather. Very quiet site which we preferred and good views. Lovely little village and harbour to walk into and around.

Such a spacious and clean holiday lodge.

Everything you could need for an enjoyable stay including welcome milk and flowers. Good quality utensils. Very light surroundings and very comfortable beds and plenty of towels. Highly recommend and would definitely return.

We stayed in Meadow Lodge for quite a few weeks while our new build house was being finished and we were so glad we picked there to stay.

The lodge was great, well equipped and with lovely views. There are fabulous walks into Newton Ferrers/ Noss Mayo and there is also the South West Coastal path. It is a very relaxing area to be in. The hosts, Helen and Steve, were wonderful, very approachable and supportive! Would definitely recommend.

We stayed 5nights working for openreach would deffo return to meadow lodge

We loved the lodge which was very clean the only 2 issues we had was the bed in the main bedroom with en-suite was really uncomfortable we rolled to the middle and the whole wooden frame creaked everytime one of us moved.

The beds in other rooms the mattresses were not great either. Nothing to do with lodge but we were woken at 8am on Monday morning with gardeners stood outside the bedroom wind chatting then started a chainsaw which was on and off for 2 hours we would have liked a lie in being away.

Exactly what we wanted, spotlessly clean and plenty of equipment.

TV worked well good picture and good size screen. The two beds we used were comfy. Being able to park close to the lodge and having it all on one level is perfect as we are now in our 70s. Site was quiet which is perfect for this September break.

It was bright, airy, clean & well-equipped, & we were very comfortable there. The location was very convenient, both for accessing the local facilities & also for exploring the wider area - we will definitely be back.

We had the best time at Meadow Lodge, it was lovely and quiet.

It had everything that you needed home from home we will definitely be coming back again. There are also some lovely walks around the area. Thank you for a holiday we will never forget x

The Lodge was lovely, spotless and the gift of flowers, milk and cookies when we arrived was a lovely touch.

Everything was just what we needed, the only drawback was the mattress in the master bedroom. The bed creaked everytime we moved, the mattress was very uncomfortable and needs looking at. That is the only criticism we have, as overall it was a very comfortable lodge. The site was very quiet, and not too big. It was easy to dispose of rubbish, the washer dryer was great. We did not use the dishwasher as we ate most of our meals out.

Property was spotless when we arrived, everything was of a high standard for your comfort.

It is situated in a really lovely location which was ideal for exploring the area. Definitely would spend another holiday there. Lovely welcome pack of flowers and biscuits when we arrived.

Clean, comfortable lodge, finished to a very high standard, we very much enjoyed our week at Meadow Lodge, exploring the lovely surrounding countryside and visiting local tourist attractions.

Great location and very clean and comfortable, we enjoyed our stay but the unmade road leading to the lodge had some large potholes.

Perfect place to spend some time away.

If you love peace and quiet you have it here. If you love a king size bed and soft mattress you’ve found it . Perfect base to come back to after after a day exploring All home comforts and high end decor , fixtures and fittings even down to the crockery Great relaxing week away Would definitely go back again 10/10

Meadow Lodge is located in a lovely location and has everything one would require.

It is kept very clean and tidy, plus being well equipped and tastefully fitted out. Having booked holiday accommodation for over two decades, Meadow Lodge would be in our favourite top six. The only very slightly disappointing issue is that the Lodge is in a complex that has private refuse collection and there is no recycling undertaken.

I would highly recommend this property.

It was spacious, clean, comfortable and extremely well stocked with all kitchen utensils, plates etc. The patio furniture was lovely and the location and aspect was wonderful.

We had a superb week in Newton Ferres, a beautiful village with all you need, very close to the lodge. The lodge has everything you need, probably the best equipped holiday house I have ever stayed in. 100% recommend and and will definitely book again. Owner leaves you in peace but at the end of the phone if needed and super helpful.

The lodge was really great and did everything it said on the tin.

Only downside was as you came on site there was a building site on the right it just makes your heart sink on arrival but it wasn't at all noisy but all in all it was a great holiday. Thankyou

Meadow Lodge is all that you could wish for, it is extremely clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The location is excellent, quiet, with terrific views, there are a couple of really good beaches within an half hour drive, with good car parks. I would highly recommend this property for a great holiday experience.

There were also some very nice and unexpected welcoming touches, I particularly appreciated the roses.

What a beautiful and relaxing place.

It had everything you would need and more and introduced us to a new game - bananagrams! We totally switched off here and what a stunning location Newton Ferrers is. We were so sad to have to leave and can’t wait to return as soon as possible. Thank you!

A beautiful, peaceful and comfortable lodge, with stunning views of the village and the surrounding valley.

Great facilities within the cabin, including a big, luxurious bath and comfortable outdoor table, chairs and loungers. The local village offers a delicatessen/cafe where you can get a great cup of coffee alongside freshly prepared snacks, sandwiches, salads & pies as well as a wide range of organic store cupboard items. A stunning part of the world within easy reach of Plymouth and the surrounding area. Highly recommenced.
