Reluctantly I am finally doing a review of this property after Sykes failed to respond to 2nd email about this property.

Cleanliness - OMG, this place hasn't has a decent clean in a long time. Evening we arrived we had to clean the kids bedrooms of cobwebs before bedtime, there were dead spiders and cobwebs everywhere - this property was not cleaned for our arrival. The kitchen needed a clean before we used it, generally dust and grime everywhere. Comfort - while didn't mind the bed, i'll sleep anywhere, the kids complained about feeling springs through the mattress in their beds and had trouble sleeping. Facilities - the place is tired, unusual stains or water marks on the MDF 'shelves' in the wardrobes, very little space to put clothes and with wardrobes and drawers being dusty we lived out of our suitcases in the end. The kitchen was ill equipped - there was literally only 1 teaspoon in a filthy cutlery drawer, no baking sheets, only 1 shelf in the oven. bit of a nightmare cooking a family meal. I can't upload them but i have pictures and videos of all of this, that no one would ever use to advertise this property. We didn't contact the owners during the stay as it felt uncomfortable for us to have the cleaners we are criticising come back to deep clean the property. but due to this we were initial denied any refund on the property and after follow up Sykes never got back in touch.

I don’t usually write reviews but I feel I have to.

We’ve just got back from our week at Lazy Bear and before setting off we were slightly worried about some of the other reviews but we usually like to make our own minds up. It turns out some of the negative reviews were right. The property has so much potential but it is so unloved and uncared for it really spoilt the holiday. Fittings were rusty, falling off walls, wobbly. Cuttlery was poor quality, essential utensils and oven trays etc missing, poor quality glasses and plates. Cobwebs everwhere, especially outside on the decking and outside of the lodge. Beds up against slanted ceilings made for uncomfortable night sleep. Lack of interior design, pictures and lighting which would just help to lift the feel of the place. The hot tub made a loud humming noise the whole time we were there and had functions that didn’t work. Not a fault of the lodge but we were constantly sweeping acorns off the decking that fell out of the tree that overhangs the lodge. It has so much potential but just needs a bit of TLC to improve it.
