“Lovely property with beautiful views, great enclosed deck with plenty of furniture, well-equipped kitchen with good knives, a cafetiere, and even a small slow cooker which was great!”

The lounge was also comfortable And the place was warm; in the afternoon, we did not need the heat on in April as the front room was flooded with sun. Did I mention the views? Fabulous from everywhere in the house and on the deck - lots of big windows to enjoy those views too. We also enjoyed swimming in the pleasantly heated pool (reservations required at the front desk). Shower in the en suite was excellent - a proper power shower. Family bathroom was also lovely with a large bath and shower over (though we didn't try this one). The location was also good and Whitsand Bay beach is lovely, but a significant down hill (and up hill to come back) trek, so perhaps not for someone with mobility issues. However, Downderry is not a far drive away and you can get to that beach easily. Rame Head is also beautiful. As is Cawsand and Cremyl. All short drives away by car or bus or a good walk if you are up for it. So, why one star marked off? While the beds had good mattresses with good toppers, the double was very small - we tried 1 night and could not sleep, so slept in the twin room the rest of our time there. We thought it was us, as I am wide and hubby is tall. But our daughter and her partner, who are slim and short, also struggled to sleep in the small bed and they are used to small university doubles. The twins cannot be pushed together due to an afixed bedside cabinet between them. Finally, for those with mobility issues, this may not be the place for you. It is a significant walk downhill to the property (and back up to the parking lot), though there are carts to help you bring your things down/up. For us, this was not too much of an issue and we did see a man and woman with walkers/Zimmer frames walking down to another property, but it looked hard going as the path is not paved (has grass growing through holes in a plastic grid so it's not muddy nor slippery even after rain). There are also a few steps up to the decking, but with very good handrails- Probably not suitable for someone in a wheelchair though. Would I come back? Yes, but I've been married a long time and sleeping together, while preferable, is not a deal breaker...the views and the comfort of the rest of the house (and the comfort of the mattresses) make up for it for us.

So glad you enjoyed your stay, The double bed is a standard double; the layout of the room does not allow for a larger bed. We feel access round the bed in more important Property Owner

About the location

TORPOINT

Wilcove 1.3 miles; Antony 3.2 miles; Whitsand Bay 5.7 miles.

Torpoint is a town and civil parish on the Rame Peninsula in southeast Cornwall. It is an eighteenth-century planned town, with the grid-based design having been commissioned by Reginald Pole Carew in 1774. His family continue to have a strong influence in the area, having become the Carew Poles in the twentieth century, and still reside at their family seat, Antony House. Torpoint only became a town in the early nineteenth century. Before this, the nearby village of Antony was the main centre in the area. The area is home to an array of gardens, museums, pubs and restaurants - with surf schools boat trips, cliff top walking and cycling for the more active types. Let's not forget some of the finest historic houses on display and open to the public to explore. Torpoint is a wonderful town with plenty of activities and sightseeing opportunities - you will not want to miss this.
