Flooring surrounding toilet base unfinished, large jagged gaps exposing cement under flooring; bathtub not that clean and uninviting; aside from kitchen waste bin, only one small hygiene bin next to the toilet; poor lighting for reading throughout, including bedside.

No lighting at all on the enclosed porch and no outlet for bringing one of the only two table lamps out there. The overhead lights are cold and too bright. The house is well-furnished but not cosy. It may work in the summer months, but not recommended for cold winter holidays. The kitchen was well-equipped, tho only two wonky egg cups provided. No welcome offering whatsoever, as supplied in most holiday lets. Adequate but overall rather disappointing.

The house is in a lovely position and its outlooks are good.

It is a perfect place to stay in the warmer months as the sunroom is perfect, but it can be cold in the winter. We managed to cook some festive meals over Christmas but the kitchen is small and a washing up bowl would have been useful. There is no way of recycling anything at this property, which is disappointing.

For quite an expensive property I would expect a far better level of customer service.

I rented Tillicum as a base for my family, a group of 8 people, to celebrate my husband's 70th and in general the house is in a nice situation and a good size which suited our needs very well....... except for the supply of hot water. I was warned a day before that there was an issue with the hot water pressure, blamed on external work done by Wessex Water, and I wasn't too pleased as it gave me no other option than to continue with my booking at such a late stage. I checked several online reviews and discovered that this is a historical problem that has not been addressed, and hot water pressure is the house owner's responsibility, not that of the water company. In reality there is hot water but it takes a long time for the baths to fill by a couple of inches and the shower does not work at all. My biggest complaint though is the handling of the issue by Sykes, and their lack of customer service. They sent an email 24 hours before warning me of the situation and gave me a number to phone for help, which no one answered in the two hours I tried to get through. I rang several other numbers and also wrote an email to them which has never been answered. There seems to be no successful way of contacting Sykes once they have taken your money, and this could be a serious issue if there was an emergency.
