Beside the Sea

The chalet was in a lovely spot on the coast not far from West Bay.

A word of caution, if driving down very narrow, twisting single track roads are not for you, it might not be the best spot. We were caught on several occasions trying to reverse uphill without hitting the embankments to allow car(s) from the opposite direction to pass. The chalet itself was very quiet, cosy, comfortable and tidy with everything you would need available. As the coastal path is right next to it, it was easy to access the other coastal paths and nearby countryside. Some minor gripes would include a dustbin without a lid, (unhygienic) and a fridge door without the bottom shelf so you couldn't stand up any bottles/milk. A minor niggle was I couldn't get the Firestick to work. It did reset but refused to open so TV viewing was restricted to Freeview. We did ask for the twin beds to be made into a double, but this didn't happen. Overall, the accommodation suited our needs. We had great weather for the week which made our stay all the more enjoyable.

Lovely chalet everything you need for a lovely stay.

Zip lock beds didn't stay together moved as soon as you sat on them as they were on wheels. Very narrow country lane to the property quite hard to pass other cars and vans Lovely welcome pack on arrival (thank you).

Gorgeous stay at this lovely property near the sea.

Liked having a dishwasher and washing machine. The Dorset welcome pack was fabulous! The sofas were super comfy. The only thing that could be improved was the WiFi - we had to pay to use the caravan park’s as it was very sporadic. Other than that we had a great stay.

Beautiful property near the pebble beach.

Very clean and spacious. Welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and milk was a lovely touch. Also kitchen supply of scourer, cloth, tea towel, washing up liquid and bin bags was a nice touch. All cleaning equipment available as well as an iron, washing machine and hair dryer. Ideally located for days out. Would highly recommend

A lovely base to explore Dorset from.

Perfect position on the beach and comfortable place to stay. Would definitely come again.

Beautiful accommodation but when renting you should mention the steep dangerous hill climb to get anywhere.

Also mention it is not suitable for older people with mobility problems unless they have a car.

Really lovely chalet and the views were beautiful.

The chalet was very comfortable and had fantastic amenities including a laundry/utility room! The only thing that I would change are the pillows as I found them lumpy and uncomfortable. We would definitely visit again

We had a wonderful time at this lovely cottage.

We felt welcome and found everything we needed. A very small downside is the low water pressure of the shower.

Enjoyed our stay, close to the beach and a great base for exploring the area.

This property was extremely well maintained, clean, tidy and well planned layout.

Kitchen well equipped with all you would need to prepare and cook in-house meals.

Lovely holiday Accommodation very comfortable and spacious, Ample cupboard space in the kitchen, The welcome hamper and milk was a lovely surprise my daughter loved the chocolates.

Bathroom very clean which was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay would highly recommend and would Definitely return. Wld have been useful to have a small frying pan too, also no mattress or pillow protectors on the beds. Which i would think would be a good shout. One of the door handles loose from hall to lounge and a light bulb gone above dining room table. This last paragraph not complaints just hopefully helpful comments for the owner. ( only mentioned as i clean for a friend who is a housekeeper for a large holiday let and so i notice things others don't

Just back from a roasting hot week at Beside the Sea, the building was bigger than we expected and was perfect for a break in beautiful Dorset.

The property is well fininshed and clean and it's location is great for a beach holiday or exploring the area,My wife is disabled but the layout of the property was perfect for her needs.There are a few mentions of the narrow lane down to Eype but if you take you time you will have no issues with it.All in all a great place to stay beside the sea in stunning Dorset, it's on our list for a return visit!

Beautiful accomodation.

Lovely location. Some information on the drive down to the accomodation would be ideal as it's not for the feint hearted.

Light in ceiling of hall did not seem to be working.

A slight problem only. Patio door locks tricky. ? Need easing. We had not anticipated how narrow the approach road is and found it stressful. The situation is wonderful and the site very quiet, especially at night. Beach and hills excellent. The cafe nearby was a boon. Such friendly people.

Lovely roomy chalet, very light and airy.

Only downside is the restricted access road, but we know there is nothing you can do about that!

Good stay in a comfortable and spacious chalet, in a great location.

A little unkempt on the outside , there was litter by the picnic bench on our arrival . The electric shower flow is weak and some mould in the shower on the grouting. The vacuum cleaner needs emptying and a clean . Overall a very good choice with an accurate description by the owner. A short walk to the New Inn in Eype where you will be well looked after.

Warm, spacious and very well equipped, perfectly positioned for walking and visiting the area, with lovely views. The narrow road in was not a problem if taken carefully. Altogether a perfect week to celebrate my wife's birthday. Thank you so much Beside The Sea.

Location was fantastic and the place itself is really spacious and welcoming.

Only downside was the floor was quite dirty on arrival , some of the cutlery and cooking utensils that had been put away needed re cleaning and the cleaner really needs to clean behind and under the beds where sockets need to be used.

If you are not a confident driver you need to be aware that it is a lengthy narrow single track road leading to the property, whilst you don’t meet lots of traffic you do come across some.

The cottage is in a lovely quiet location and is comfortable and has most things that you could need. You are in a central location and it is ideal to visit lots of different places.

We found the chalet to be extremely well equipped and comfortable.

Found the shower drainage of water to be very slow. The only way to rectify this small problem was to halt the water flow allowing the drain to catch up. The lane to the property could be challenging at times, but most people were careful and patient. The Eype Eats bakery/cafe next door to the property was excellent for coffee/ bread and cakes, very helpful owner. Also the New Inn further up the lane did good food and the staff were lovely.

A lovely spacious, well-equipped holiday unit a minute from the sea on a small site.

From my ratings, you can probably deduce that there were a couple of things that disappointed me, but I accept they may not have been a concern to everyone, and in a short time I had them sorted. That said, would I stay here again? Absolutely. And I intend to! Thank you for the use of your perfectly located holiday home.

Really nice, and spacious holiday accommodation, right next to the sea, as the name suggests.

Access by a typically narrow Dorset lane, so be prepared to find passing places etc.! Well equipped generally, with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave etc. Some more drinking glasses would be useful, as all that is provided are pint beer glasses, wine glasses and champagne flutes - a set of tumblers would really help. Comfortable beds, and plenty of storage space, especially in the back bedroom. The cottage is very warm, with thick quilts - it was actually too warm when we went, during a hot spell!! There were a few issues, mainly due to inadequate cleaning. The fridge was so badly frozen that the ice box was unusable - the ice was so badly built up that the icebox door wouldn't close, and nothing could be put inside. I had to defrost the fridge to use it. Another problem was the shower. The first evening shower nearly flooded the room, as the drain was blocked, and I had to remove and clean the hair trap - Nothing says 'happy holidays' like cleaning strangers hair out of a shower!! The kettle was so badly scaled up that every drink resulted in limescale in the mugs - so I had to clean that out too! One of the serving ladles had chunks of dried food on it - not hidden in a drawer, but in the holder on the worktop. How was that not spotted? Fluffy dust build up around the bedside cabinets, a previous guest's belt left in a wardrobe . . . . . It's a shame about these niggles, because the cottage is lovely, but cleaning and checking between guests really needs addressing, especially given the 6 hour window between departure and arrival.

We enjoyed our week here in this comfortable, well-presented property which was on a peaceful site.

We loved the chalet, spacious and light and the bedrooms/bathroom were lovely.

The living area was well furnished and very comfortable. Kitchen was fine, but it would have been lovely to have had some basic washing up liquid, the extractor hood was broken and the crockery was stained and chipped in places. Other than those small niggles it was a lovely week's holiday.
