Good location for whole area.

Situated out of Weymouth in a very quiet and tranquil area. Beautiful starry skies at night as little light pollution. Beds and sofa very comfortable. I would stay again.

V much enjoyed our stay in this very clean, well-appointed and supplied house in quiet location.

Minor issues were downstairs bed skating around floor, and the double room door upstairs not fitting properly, hence being shut very noisily, but otherwise found everything was excellent.

Lovely lodge situated in a very pretty and peaceful location.

Lodge was well equipped and clean. Beds were very comfy. However, bed on ground level did tend to slip on wooden floor if slightly leant against. We had good meals at Craigs Dairy, Smugglers Inn and Springhead Inn, all dog friendly. Straceys Chip just down road was also v good. Lovely walks on door step. Would visit again. One small note: think recycling facilities could be better.

The property is very comfortable, spacious and well equipped.

The peaceful surroundings make it a very relaxing. It is a great location for getting to all the key sights in the Jurassic coast. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious. Our teenage kids were upstairs and loved their own space. Throughly enjoyed the stay and would highly recommend. For the price of the property, I would expect to be supplied with toilet rolls, hand soap (not a small piece of soap) bath and shower mat, washing up liquid (not small tube). Robust hooks to hang wet towels. Minor things and nothing that would bring the rating down. Superb.

Overall this property is in a wonderful location, peaceful and could have amazing views.

We were really disappointed when we arrived in August to find an extremely tall (over 6ft) and ugly fence that took away the view of the field, which you can see from the upstairs bedrooms. Your current photos from the kitchen window are not accurate and do not show this fence. We probably would not have booked it if it had, as a view on holiday is important to us. Apart from that the lodge is really not spacious enough to house six people we were four and just managed. The fridge is sooo small it could not accommodate all our shopping and only had an ice box, no freezer! Definitely not big enough for 6 people! This is the first negative review we have left, the cottage that we were in the week before was wonderful (also with Sykes) and just made the lack of facilities that would make your stay more comfortable more obvious. There were no bins in any of the bedrooms or any towel rails, so there was nowhere to hang towels not even hooks on the back of doors! Last negative was no outside line provided for washing or wet beach stuff. Having said this we did think that the beds were comfortable, the linen and towels of good quality. There was a lovely view and sunset just 5 minutes walk up the lane. Because of the feeling of being fenced in literally, we will not be back and feel that it was not good value compared to other options in Dorset.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Roman Lodge.

It was peaceful and in a great location and our dog settled in well and enjoyed the enclosed garden. The Jurassic Coaster bus stop is only a 5minutes walk away to visit key tourist spots.

Roman Lodge is a lovely place to stay when you want to explore Weymouth and the surrounding areas.

The lodge is comfortable, clean and tidy. This is our third stay there and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We would recommend the inclusion of a second television in one of the bedrooms as we did note the Ariel sockets were present and the fridge/freezer really wasn’t suitable for a family of 4 let alone 6 at the hottest point of the year. By tweaking these couple of bits it would make the property even more wonderful! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Honestly the lodge didn't feel clean.

There were dirty glasses in the cupboard. Ants in the food cupboard. Fluff, plastic toys and rubbish under the sofa and under the bed. The bed slid on the wood floor with the slightest touch. I had to push it against a wall then found the rolls of fluff and dirt. The lower bathroom sink was blocked so wasn't very nice. Beds, sofa very comfy and plenty of kitchen equipment. No bin bag, 1 teatowel, no oven gloves. Overall for the cost very disappointed. The road leading to the lodge was shocking too.

Absolutely loved this gorgeous lodge.

The road up to it is a little bit rocky but well worth it to stay in such a stunning place. One afternoon there was a power cut and a lovely neighbour came to tell us about it so we could plan ahead. A great community on the doorstep it seems. The lodge was comfortable with stylish features and decor. Beds were super comfy. A superb base for all of Dorset’s lovely places to visit. A walk to the Smuggler’s Inn where we had a fabulous Sunday roast was just perfect. A visit to Durdle Door is worth every penny of the price to park there. Wishing Well tea rooms in Upwey are well worth a visit. Lovely gardens and food. I am sure we will be back. Thank you! Would move in if I could!

The location is exactly why we booked this lodge with 3 Children and 3 adults however, throughout the one week duration of our holiday some housekeeping observations will prevent us from re-booking this property in the future.

There was mould on the clean dishes airer placed on the sink drainer. Previous occupiers food debris in areas such as the oven, biscuits barrel and Fridge. There was a build up of dirty in the fridge which let’s face it, who wishes to have their fresh food contaminated with who knows what?! The shower room and bath evidently had been wiped quickly not deep cleaned so to speak ready for our arrival. We know this as for example; the shower had a build up of others hair and scum, black mould growing and I wouldn’t use the extractor if you do decide to book as it’s filthy dirty! Yes our children were expected to use these facilities

We had a lovely stay - the property was quiet and peaceful - very comfortable beds.

Great for teh dog, and very pleased we discovered Ringstead beach, which was so easy to get to from the cottage, and was brilliant for the dog.

We were really impressed upon arrival at Roman Lodge - what a lovely place to stay!

The house had everything you could need for a coastal holiday. The house was spotlessly clean and tidy. More than enough space for everyone. We enjoyed the games and puzzles that were there for us to make use of. The outside space was a bonus too. The only minor point was that the track up to the turning for the house was quite uneven and rough to drive up. Having said that, it didn't take away from the lovely week we had there. We would definitely book again if we ever head back down that way.

The wow factor!

We have just had a wonderful week away at this gorgeous property with our three teenage children and dog. Location was more than just a base for exploring the Jurassic coast. It was lovely to chill out here in the sunshine and enjoy the peace and tranquility. Weymouth beach is 5 mins away and there weee so many places to have breakfast lunch or dinner. Smugglers Inn, Craig’s Dairy and the look out to name a few. The property was clean well thought out private and just stunning. We will definitely be returning and can’t recommend Roman Lodge highly enough. Our stay was amazing.

Everything was great but the only major item missing from the kitchen was a coffee machine.

A small nespresso or even cafetiere or filter machine would have been appreciated.

We had a fab time at the lodge.

It has everything you need, feels modern, well equipped, comfortable sofa and beds, great location for walks and attractions not far to drive. A hot tub would have been nice :-) my only negative feedback would be the road leading to the lodge had many deep potholes which was not ideal.

the garden was not as enclosed as expected but luckily we had a dog that doesn't run off . The track road leading upto property driveway is not one you want to drive up and down when dark as would damage your car .

This is our second stay in Roman lodge.

It’s a lovely property and very comfortable! It’s situated in a quiet rural location and all you hear is the sound of birds in the woods. The property is in a great location to explore Weymouth and Dorset as a whole. The property was clean, tidy and had everything you needed for your stay. Only minor point to include in the booking information is the track to the property is not suitable for low slung cars. It’s more than pot holes and if you haven’t visited the house before or visiting late at night you could cause damage to the car. This isn’t the owners fault but just worth an FYI. Thanks for a lovely stay will happily come back again!

I wasn’t made to feel welcome.

. property was very cold on arrival, fridge and oven turned off so had to work it out .. and then noisy building works operating on the property directly on site which meant I could not enjoy a Cup of tea in the garden when I came home or had to leave the property by 8:30am to avoid the noise. It would have been cautious to have been warned of this before my booking as I was trying to have a tranquil break which is what the booking advertised.

Roman lodge was a lovely stay.

The property is in a very quiet location which is perfect for relaxing but still close enough to Weymouth and all the facilities you need. The lodge itself was very comfortable, the space was well thought out. The beds and bedding were proper quality. We rate this property very highly. Only a couple of suggestions which are minor would be a second tv in one of the bedrooms, the fridge freezer needs a defrost which is understandable due to the busy season not having time to be done- could a small stand up freezer be provided or something on the kitchen counter? And finally another one of those delightful lounge chairs which are the most wonderful chairs we’ve sat in! Overall a stunning stay and we will return

Lovely property and had everything you needed for a home from home break.

Location was great, easy to get to lots of sights. Would definitely recommend and will hope to rebook ourselves in the future.

The lodge was very clean and fitted to a high standard.

We had a wonderful stay in Osmington and the lodge provided the perfect base for us to travel to our favourite beaches, including Ringstead Bay and Studland. We also enjoyed the walk to Sutton Poyntz to the Springhead and to the Smugglers Inn.

The cottage we stayed at was perfect for our needs.

There were three in our party, plus a dog, but we could have easily taken six. We walked straight out of the cottage and right into the countryside from the front door. Because we had the dog, we were not so bothered about spending time on the beach, and really enjoyed the country walks. It was possible to walk to the beach from the cottage, but it was a little bit of a trek, and wouldn't have been easy with a family. However, very easy access for driving to all of Dorset's local attractions - Abbotsbury, Jurassic coast, Ringstead Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door. It was very easy to have the dog there - there is a stated preference for animals not to go upstairs, but it was quite easy to block the stairs off to prevent this. The area surrounding the cottage was pretty much enclosed - while we wouldn't have left the dog wandering around by herself (as she might have found a way out), while we were sitting in the garden, it was very easy to keep her safe. The cottage was in a very secluded location, so it wasn't a big worry if the dog barked occasionally. The house had all the ameneties (TV with lots of channels & streaming services, dishwasher, two bathrooms, indoor & outdoor eating areas, patio furniture, board games, books) we needed to entertain us if it was raining , or if we stayed in in the evening, or if we wanted to sit outside enjoying the sunshine. The beds were really comfortable, and we all slept well. The Smuggler's Inn pub was very easy to walk to, and does great food, & has an enormous outdoor seating area. There was a handy village shop & a farm shop within 5 mins walk, & small local supermarkets were a close drive nearby. We had a very enjoyable stay, and will be back.

Perfect location and nice and quiet

Lovely clean and cosy lodge which was well equipped and close to plenty to do.

In a peaceful and pretty location with good walks from the door. Only improvement I would suggest are hooks on the back of the bathroom doors.

The impression I got from the property was that it was designed to maximise profit above comfort.

It slept 6 but...... 1.Comfortable space for only three on settee (one siting sideways to TV). 2.Inadequate fridge space to feed 6 but OK for the two of us. 3. The Ice box in the fridge was completely iced up (no auto defost???) Bedrooms were very comfortable It would have been a very much better holiday if the space had been configured so that the whole of the ground floor was living space with a decent sized kitchen with fridge freezer and fitted drawers as cupboard space. On a personal note, we are both in our late 80's and bending over to reach into the low-level cupboards (and fridge) was difficult.

Lovely place and whilst we enjoyed our stay we were disappointed at not being able to have doors open as the area outside was not secure for our dog.

We had a fantastic stay at Roman Lodge.

It is ideally situated, not far from Weymouth and close to Lulworth Cove and Durdle door. The lodge is clean and comfortable and well set out for a family holiday. A great holiday!
