The Beach House

We found the property be adequate but very basic in equipment and furnishings for these reasons we would mark the star rating as average as we have stayed in similar accommodation for a lot less money which have been far superior.

Whilst we appreciate the little welcome bits and pieces it would from our prospective have been better to have had a pint of milk rather than a bottle of wine so as to be able to make a nice cup of tea after a long journey. We don’t want to sound to negative but we didn’t appreciate finding dirty plates and cutlery in the dishwasher when we arrived. So in summary unless things drastically improved I don’t think we would be returning to the Beach House

Excellent location for visiting East Devon and West Dorset, some nice places to eat within walking distance.

Bridport is a lovely town and well worth a visit on market days. Lots of nice walks locally if you are lucky with the weather! We enjoyed our stay at The Beach House and would love to return later this year.

Very comfortable, clean & well equipped.

The property is in a great location for walking to the beach & restaurants etc at West Bay and for walking or a short drive to Bridport. The whole area is very dog friendly.

We had a really lovely stay here with our 2 dogs, it has everything you need and the welcome hamper is so nice.

it has a secure garden for the dogs and is ony a ten minute walk to the beach at West Bay, we will definetly be coming back again

We had a lovely stay at the Beach House.

Comfy with all you need for a short stay. Easy walk into West Bay and enjoyed exploring the local area.

This was our fifth time staying at the Beach House, and we have already booked again.

A new rug and cushions to refresh the place, everything else, as always, clean, well presented and all we need. Sofa’s could be a little more comfortable, however, we cushion them and get on ok. Dogs love the garden. A five minute walk to the beaches. Nice relaxing break again. We will be back soon.

This was our 4th visit. Great house, nice garden for the dogs and an evening drink. A short walk to the beaches for nice walks. We will be back again.

The house is nice, with tasteful decor and perfectly located for a short stroll into West Bay or a longer walk into Bridport.

We didn't really cook but it seemed pretty well equipped. Beds all comfortable but sofas not so much. The garden areas, both front and back, really need a few hours work to de-weed and make a bit prettier.....it lets the property down a bit. The windows, and under the beds, really could do with a clean as well. We enjoyed our stay and the welcome pack was nice.

Very pleasant property not far from Bridport Town Centre and only 20 mins to Lyme Regis.

Found the chairs in the property quite uncomfortable, the chairs in the garden were more comfortable. The hedging needs cutting back by the storage chest, it was difficult to get anything in or out. Be nice if the windows were cleaned, everything else was fine. It's a good base to travel around from. Enjoyed our stay, just a few tweaks here and there would be good.

We had a lovely relaxing time, the house was very pretty and the beach house theme was lovely.

We really enjoyed the garden. We would have benefitted from maps or something to show us where the walks were, we did find the way into West bay which was lovely and easy for us to manage. We would definitely book this place again.

This house was in a lovely location, close to the beach and amenities, including lovely pubs and a shop.

There were a couple of small things which would have improved our stay: 1. The front door lock is really stiff and difficult to operate 2. The oven, and baking trays contained within, were dirty and greasy, and could fo with a good clean 3. There are a couple of areas of mould within the bathroom (potentially caused by the extractor fan not being used or windows not bring opened after showering etc) These issues did not detract too much from our stay.

It was a fantastic place to stay very easy to walk to where we wanted to go like Bridport and the Harbour

Very well located within walking distance of West Bay this easily accessed, lovely property was very warm and cosy.

The beds were super comfortable and gave us a splendid nights sleep.

The Beach House is lovely accommodation, especially for a dog owner.

The house is extremely clean, comfortable and everything feels well thought out, including a dog-safe garden. The owners provided fully comprehensive instructions and general information, which we found very useful. The location is also brilliant. Walking distance to West Bay and a ten minute drive to Hive Beach. I would definitely stay there again and will recommend to my friends wishing to visit the area.

The location is perfect very close to the sea and lovely walks . The weather was dreadful but it didn’t matter because the Accommodation was fabulous. Spotlessly clean , everything you could possibly need . We just chilled watching movies as continual torrential rain poured down outside . The Beds were very comfortable, The garden perfect for the Dog totally enclosed . We will book again definitely

Lovely property, clean and well-maintained, and great location, about 15 mins walk from West Bay harbour.

A fabulous cottage in a fabulous location.

Everything we needed was provided, from a welcome pack to a gorgeous garden. Having a dishwasher was heaven. The decor is calming and practical and in keeping with the house name. Nice conservatory to sit in the evenings too. And if you get really bored there is a smart tv to catch up on your favourites....Broadchurch (?). The fact that the garden is dog proof is great so we could let Tinky have a sniff round and not have to worry too much. Great setting nestled under the green hills, with plenty of walks, shops, market and places to eat within walking distance. The walk to the beach is mainly off road which we loved. Short walk to the harbour, pier and Visitor Centre. Apart from the weather which didn't stop us doing anything we had a thoroughly enjoyable time and will quite likely re book at some point.

We always choose Sykes because their properties are the best.

This cottage was to the expected high standard. Great location and easy access to the jurassic coast. We will definitely return. The welcome basket was lovely and attention to detail to make the holiday comfortable was much appreciated.

Had a good stay at The Beach House.

The welcome pack was appreciated.It was great for our dog Holly to have the garden enclosed so she could explore whilst we sat in the lovely conservatory. Would have preferred a washing machine rather than a dishwasher. The location was good , just a 10 minute walk into Wast Bay and a 20 minute walk into Bridport where the shopping was lovely at the Market.

Probably the best holiday home we stay in West Bay the house everything will needed and the dogs enjoyed the secure garden

A very cosy small house, some really nice touches.

Appreciated the bottle of wine and pint of milk plus the coffee pods. The garden was private and caught the afternoon sun, a bonus at this time of the year. We really loved the close access across the fields to The Rise restaurant and harbour and other amenities. Perfect place for a dog friendly holiday, highly recommend.

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Beach House.

The location is great - quiet, with a short traffic-free walk to West Bay and to Bridport and good off-road parking for two vehicles. We had a mix of weather but the house is well suited to all rain and shine with a sheltered garden, garden seating and a conservatory for cooler wetter days. The house is nicely decorated with quality furniture and fittings and comfortable beds. It's a very dog friendly house. We don't have a dog and it was nice to see that there wasn't too much evidence of previous doggy visitors as an easy house to keep clean and fresh. It is also and ideal location to explore further afield with easy access to the A35 and the coast road to Burton Bradstock and Abbottbury.

A nicely situated comfortable holiday home located a short walk from the centre of West Bay.

There was a welcome pack upon arrival and the house was well cleaned throughout. The off road parking is just round the corner which can easily fit 2 cars. I sent the owners a query and they respond with a telephone call straight away which was very good. The area the house is in is very quiet at night, was nice to sit in the beautiful garden under the stars relaxing. There is a park a short walk away which was useful in helping to entertain the kids. The bedrooms are larger than they look on the pictures, and the beds were incredibly comfortable - I meant to look at the brand before I left as we all slept so well on them. There was plenty of storage space throughout. Only scored 4/5 as would be good if possible to have a travel cot and high chair rather than brining our own, also would be good to have a safety device fitted to the roller blind cords to prevent accidents with children. With a young family it would have also been good to have a washing machine in the property although we were aware of this before booking.

Very Happy with the Beach House, it made a ideal base to explore the area and a welcome retreat at the end of the day.

An ideal position and easy walk to West Bay. Everything was clean and beautifully coordinated.Would highly recommend and hopefully will be back next year

We enjoyed our stay very much and found the property to be clean, tidy and conveniently close to West Beach.

Parking was convenient, kitchen well appointed and also the garden was tidy and dog friendly. Just the sofa’s we’re not very comfortable.

Lovely clean and bright house.

Well equipped even the dogs catered for with water bowls, doggie bags and welcome pack. Very tastefully themed decor so nice to eat off Royal Doulton plates in a holiday home - a touch of class! Very neat practical garden and conservatory and off road parking. Good safe walk to the beach and the harbour. Easy access to a beautiful part of the country.

This is a difficult review because the Beach House is a lovely property.

It is tastefully decorated and in an ideal location. We loved the garden and the conservatory. The fly in the ointment, as so many have said is the sofas, which are unbelievably uncomfortable. I don’t think I have ever sat on a more uncomfortable sofa in my life! I have to say unless the sofas were replaced we would not return. It’s a shame because other than that it’s perfect. I do not think it needs a washing machine.

As others have said, the sofa is uncomfortable.

Also the property could do with a washing machine. Property is in a great location however. Conveniently not far from both shops and the beach.

Sofa very uncomfortable. No information folder with local information and also no information re recycling/rubbish, not sure if put right recycling in correct bins.

lovely property, the only faults found, could do with a rug in the lounge area to make it more cosy and two new settees as the ones there are outdated and uncomfortable.

Lovely, clean accommodation, home from home.

5 minutes walk from the seafront and ideally located for visiting surrounding areas.

The Beach House is well situated for the beach and Bridport being walking distance.

We found it spotlessly clean and well equipped including a lovely welcome pack. Very comfortable beds, sun trap garden (due to be landscaped in close season).Off-road parking is available which is good because people use the road to park for free and walk to the beach.

The cottage was home from home, everything you need, the back garden could do with a little TLC but still very pleasant.

Beds were comfortable no complaints from anyone. Beach and restaurants very close walking distance and flat so no trouble if you struggle with walking as I do, restaurants very very nice, All in all would definitely return and recommend to family and friends
