The Olive Lodge, 227 Sycamore

We were very happy with the accommodation.

There was a problem with the TV when we arrived we could not get any stations.We contacted the owner straightaway and we accepted the fact that they had two young children.They said they would get an engineer in Sunday morning.This did not happen and we were getting frustrated because we wanted to watch Wimbledon tennis and World Cup football.I contacted the owner again and had to leave a message.Eventually a site engineer arrived and after investigation he managed to get the TV working. We felt the contact arrangements with the owners was very poor.You could not speak directly to them you had to leave a message and wait for them to respond.Sometimes they did and other times they didn't.So not really very satisfactory. We see the accommodation is for sale but the owner still has responsibility to the holiday occupancy. With regards to Sykes we feel your booking system is extremely poor.Instead of being able to book in Cheshire as previously we are now speaking to people from abroad.That became extremely frustrating making ourselves understood. Then we requested holiday insurance and they were not trained to advise us so we had to wait for a phone call from the insurance provider.Totally unsatisfactory and we will not be using Sykes again. The lodge was perfect.

Very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The decking with furniture was a bonus which we made good use of. We enjoyed visiting the local beaches and Lynemouth.

Lovely accommodation on a beautiful site.

The position of the lodge was ideal right near the car park. It was very clean and the beds comfortable with decent pillows and bedding. Extra cutlery and crockery would be useful so that the dishwasher could be used....It's not worth putting on for 3 plates and mugs. Some beer glasses and sharp knives would be good too. These are just !little things and had no impact on a very enjoyable week at Olive Lodge.

The lodge is very comfortable, with quality fittings and bedding.

We stayed in winter and it was warm and cosy, while being very light due to the design. The master bedroom is very nice and 2 bathrooms give that extra space. The second bedroom is typical van sized singles but still has some room and storage. The van is close to the shop and parking, in the Sycamore area. We didn’t use the park facilities but did do the short woodland walk with the dog. For longer walks the lodge is perfectly positioned to take the short drive to the forest or coast and New Milton has everything you need for a great stay. The owners were friendly and on hand to support. A great stay.

The caravan was in a convenient part of the park - near the shop, recycling, entrance.

There were a few minor problems already brought to the attention of the owners such as the toilet seat in the main bathroom. The big problem was the lack of heating. We had some cold nights with just a very thin quilt. There was a fire in the living room but nothing I did to the boiler/radiators would make the heating in the bedroom work. I wore as many clothes as I could but was woken up at least 3 or 4 times a night due to being very cold. Luckily, we were only there for 3 nights or we would have had to sleep in the living room. We were there around the middle of September. I'd hate to go any later in the year. We did not use the facilities so cannot comment. It's worth mentioning that you can only leave the site by car. We had hoped to be able to walk into the forest but we had to rely on the car all the time. I did check with reception as this did come as a surprise/disappointment.

Nice lodge on a good site with good facilities.

We particularly enjoyed the swimming pools and the on site woodland walks. Plenty of nice pubs nearby selling food. Lots to do in the area.

Lovely home from home, very modern and intelligently designed.

Our little 17-year-old Yorkie was the first doggie visitor, and she enjoyed her stay too. Property was well cared for and maintained, with substantial terrace on two sides, and nice outdoor furniture. Owner Gemma very friendly and responsive. Parking was no problem in carpark next to property (cannot park outside the property itself), and all level walking to car and facilities. Park well looked after - didn't use the facilities on this occasion, but the shop had all the necessities. Would definitely like to stay again - this was a short, last-minute stay following a busy, stressful time, and The Olive Lodge was a great place to relax.

The Lodge was beautifully looked after and well appointed with everything you could need for a trip away.

We were really impressed with the quality of the finish and the facilities. The location was very good and well placed both within the holiday park but also in the wider area proving a great base for exploring the New Forest.

We spent a lovely week in this very comfortable lodge.

It was very well equipped and although we did not have a designated parking space the car park was close to the lodge. Very well sited for lots of lovely local places to visit. Would recommend The Hare and Hounds for Sunday lunch.

Lovely Lodge, spacious light and airy. Every thing you need for a weeks stay. Site is lovely and peaceful.

The Olive Lodge is a very comfortable lodge set in Hobourne Bashley holiday park which is a relaxed setting.

The lodge was very clean and exceeded our expectations. It was well equipped with all that you need. The clubhouse has nightly entertainment and serves some nice food all day . If you don't want to cook there's plenty of pubs around that serves good food ( recommend Hare and Hounds at Sway for Sunday lunch). The local area is amazing and the ponies and cows just roam around ( we even came across a donkey blocking the road and wouldn't move). Overall I would recommend Olive Lodge for all wishing a great relaxed break from the hustle and bustle. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

The blinds on skylights are not working, the light in the bathroom can not be switch off, the cleanness of the property wasn't grate we found bread crumb on the table its looks like it was done in rush as event the bathroom wasn't very clean we found some dust and hairs under the shower.

The tv in living room is not connect to the internet so we couldn't watch Netflix event we did try several times maybe is just need a update? Apart of this we had lovely stay.

On arrival the Chalet was clean though I had the impression that the bathroom at the rear had not been cleaned thoroughly due to the washbasin having a large pool of liquid soap from the dispenser underneath the dispenser which was not leaking.

The Chalet is pleasant to stay in and comfortable however the passageway leading from the main living area to the bedrooms/bathrooms is very narrow so that we repeatedly knocked our arms on the door handles as we passed, my suitcase only just fitted in the width of it. It was reasonably well equipped though on looking for a cheese grater there was none so I bought a cheep one, everything else was good with enough oven trays etc. The fact that we did not have our own parking space made things more difficult as we could not park next to the property and on occasions struggled to find a space. There is enough room at the side of each chalet but it is grassed and parking on this is not allowed. I struggled to connect to the wi fi and contacted reception, a man came and did something in the box outside and the wi fi was good afterwards, We enjoyed a good holiday and the lodge is a very pleasant one to stay in for a holiday.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Olive Lodge in early June and were pretty lucky with the weather so we got to enjoy the comfortable external furnishings almost as much as the lovely interior ones.

The Lodge has everything you need to enjoy a week long stay, regardless of the weather (sunshine helps though!). It is ideally located very close to the local beaches, Avon Beach is great for those with mobility issues, and on a park with really good facilities which cater particularly well for children and the young at heart (rekindled our youth briefly in the arcades!). The on-site restaurant serves up a decent breakfast and dinner if you want a break from cooking in the well equipped and decent-sized Lodge kitchen, but don't wish to travel. The Lodge is a good size for a 4 person stay with two bathrooms, both with showers (one of which is very small but adequate). The multiple Velux windows help to keep the living area relatively cool on a hot sunny day and has a fireplace to keep you nice and snug on colder evenings. If eating out, we would say you can't beat The Rising Sun pub and Lins fish & chips (best ever!) for quality. If you are holidaying in the wonderful county of Dorset, we would highly recommend The Olive Lodge, which stands out as the best amongst its neighbours on the park

Lovely propertyand very comfortable although the twin room was a bit cramped for 2 adults but ok for kids.

An information pack would be useful ,ie doctors , taxi numbers etc because as it is a private property Hoburns info packs are only given to their visitors. Overall a nice park, very clean and hoburn staff fantastic.Another way to pay for passes to the facilities other than paypal would be useful as idon't use paypal and you can't get passes any other way.

A very comfortable and spacious lodge in excellent condition.

Central heating keeps it cosy in cooler weather as well as an electric fire but sun keeps it very warm when it's out as there are several skylights. It has a large fridge/freezer and a gas hob and oven, not electric as mentioned in the info. Duvets are provided and plenty of pillows and hangers but no washing up cloths/sponges or dishwasher tablets, oven gloves or tea towels. We found a small quantity of washing up liquid but left a new bottle for the next person as well as toilet rolls as requested by the owner. Car parking is adjacent to the lodge which is a bonus. We did not use the park's facilities so cannot comment on them.
