Cava

Lovely lodge in a great location on the IOW, beaches and lots of the popular tourist attractions within a short drive.

Bus services only a short walk away too. One thing to be aware of is the parking is approx 200m from the lodge, not directly outside the lodges which wasn’t clear in the description. Maintenance company were fantastic when we had an issue with our hot tub and sorted it out quickly. Hot tub a great addition- although some privacy screens would be a nice touch while the bushes grow in. You can see your neighbours hot tubs from the outside space making it feel quite open.

This was a return visit to Cava & we were pleased to be back.

Although we don’t totally agree with the ‘luxury’ description of the property (no hairdrier, no freezer, patio & furniture could have been swept/de-cobwebbed) we were very comfortable during our stay. Beds & bedding are super comfy & towels really good quality. Will definitely return - in fact we are already booked for 2026!

It was a lovely place to be and we were lucky with the changeable weather.

We found the villa very clean and tidy and an adequate size for four people. The shower was good and the water pressure was great. There’s a pub next to the complex called the Wishing Well. It is one of the breweries on the island of the Mermaid Gin. The food is good and worth a try. The two main criticisms I would have is this. 1. It would be nice just to have some sort of welcoming pack on arrival. After a long journey it’s so nice just to be able to make a tea, or coffee. 2. I understand that the bedroom doors need to be fire doors and self shutting, but it was very difficult to open them as the resistance was very strong, perhaps some adjustments could be made. The doors didn’t actually shut fully and ours needed a tug to close it. On more positive notes the hot tub was lovely and enjoyed. Overall we had a great week there and would book again.

We stayed in Cava for a week.

The whole site is beautiful - the lodges are lovely and the whole site is really well maintained. The interior of the lodges is fresh (partly because they are so new!). We didn't have parking immediately outside the lodge, but you can park outside to unload and the parking space was only about 30m away on the level so no hardship at all. The site itself is pretty quiet, with a nice space out the front for children to play. The kitchen was well-equipped and the washing machine was a great addition, especially with having the hot tub which we did use every day! The cleaning wasn't to the standard I expected - bits of orange mould around the edge of the bathroom floor and the walls and bedside lamps were dusty / cobwebby. The lodges are new which means they generally look really 'fresh' but if they aren't thoroughly cleaned, they could start to look grubby quite quickly. The outdoor furniture is really sturdy which is a nice change from most places - but is in need of a soapy scrub! A point of note - the bedrooms are accessed directly from the main living area so are self-closing doors; not a problem if it's just older children / adults, but my younger child really struggled to open the door by herself especially in the night so I had to prop it open. Otherwise, all is great and these are a great location for exploring. Being able to contact Mel by WhatsApp was great in the lead-up to the holiday. I would stay again.

Very nice, though I am not sure it warrants being called luxury.

Hot tubs are fairly standard now, and everything else was basic. Clothes dryer was broken when we arrived and needs to be replaced. Location was perfect though.

My wife and I have just enjoyed a great week in 'Cava'.

For two people the accommodation was truly luxurious as we enjoyed a bathroom and dressing room each! The kitchen more than met our needs and we loved our nightly soak in the excellent the hot tub. A small sticking plaster quickly solved the problem of the infamous green light in our bedroom. Our only criticism was of the outdoor furniture which we both felt was far too heavy and not very comfortable - some outdoor cushions would have helped.

It should be deep cleaned before guests arrived, there was dust , dirt and grime on every surface, dirty cutlery, tea towels and bath towels were stained, cutlery stained, bathroom door did not lock, cobwebs in bedroom above TV, outdoor furniture and decking in need of a stain and clean, no direct parking at property, green lights in bedroom kept us awake , springs from mattress dig in when trying to sleep.

Full report with photographic evidence will be sent to Sykes HQ, owners made no welcome contact by message or in person like they were not interested, worst place we have stayed and used Sykes a lot!

Cava is very comfortable and well laid out.

It has everything needed for a lovely holiday and is well equipped. The one problem we did have, was the green lights above the doors leading out to the Hot tub. They are quite bright which made it difficult to sleep but overall it did not spoil our holiday.

We stayed on this site last year, but in a different, identical property, because we love the location, and appreciate the standard of cleanliness, having two shower rooms, and being close to the Wishing Well pub, the home of the Mermaid gin distillery.

The accommodation is pleasant, if somewhat small, with a well equipped kitchen. Our only niggle, given that due to the inclement weather we did spend more time indoors this year, is that the lounge area is too small for 4 adults to relax in. Re-configuration of furniture, with a smaller dining area, would make a huge difference to the comfort rating.

The property was just as described and very comfortable with most things provided for a pleasant stay.

We missed a teapot and a few pegs but minor details. Be aware that The Wishing Well pub on site takes last orders for food at 7.30. We can recommend two places to eat in Seaview. The Boathouse and The Old Fort. Both excellent menus the latter more pub vibes, both on the seafront and relatively close to home. Would highly recommend the lodges.

This was a well presented lodge.

It was clean and had good facilities. The listing and pictures were a true representation. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub.

Second time at this property it’s in a beautiful position very quiet and peaceful.

Our only problem was that the kettle needed cleaning when we arrived, this we did but suggest you ask the owners to ensure that this happen in future.

We found the sink in the en-suite too small.

Had a fabulous week at Cava & will definitely return.

Ideal location & well positioned on quiet, well kept site. For us it was perfect - no dogs or children. Ecolodge very comfortable & well appointed, with large decked area. Hot tub location at the back of the property gave much appreciated privacy. A couple of suggested tweaks to consider - somewhere to hang coats + reduce strength of closures on internal doors.

Loved our stay in the lodge, lovely setting in The Vineyards.

The bathroom light switch in the double bedroom was covered by the wardrobe? Couldnt get to one of the sockets in the twin due to bed covering it? Not a big problem, worked around it. No clear info on where the outside bins were? Information pack only included instructions for cooker and washing machine. Could have had local/IOW info eg places to eat and visit. Overall, the lodge was great and suited our needs for a four night stay.

Because of a broken glass front door of Cava (caused by a stone thrown by a mower) before we arrived we received a text saying that we had been transferred to the next door Chianti…no problem!

The accommodation was excellent ,clean ,comfortable ,warm and welcoming with all amenities and facilities functioning , including the very welcome hot tub as the weather was rather colder than anticipated. No problem at all with the excellent accommodation. Would certainly come again!

As per other comments, why is the green light in the bedrooms so bright?

. The shower in the double bedroom still leaks. Why is the central heating thermostat in the bedroom? Light switches are in some odd places , the bathroom light switch is behind the wardrobe. No coat hooks where do you hang wet coats when you come in. The curtains across the main living area offer no privacy. Well situated on the island. Sleeps four adults but only a two seater sofa. Beds very comfortable. Well equipped with all appliances.

Very much enjoyed our stay and loved the hot tub.

Our only criticism was the same as previous occupants, namely the very bright green light in the bedroom and the heavy doors. Otherwise, the accommodation was comfortable and pleasantly furnished and decorated. Ideal location for touring the island. We would definitely stay here again.

Two very minor points: the clock needed a new battery, we think.

The corner of the shower, same wall as the wash basin seemed to have a leak: we found puddles on the floor after showering. Otherwise, well equipped with cutlery, crockery and glassware. Bedding was clean and comfortable. The hot-tub was a pleasant novelty for us. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Excellent facilities in a good location for touring the island.

Only a short distance from the ferry port. Accommodation was spacious and comfortable and the hot tub was an added bonus.

It was nice and peaceful and so close to everything. Would stay here again.

We stayed here for a week in June.

Check-in was contactless with a key safe (we were given the combination a few days before). Access to the park is through the car park for the Mermaid Gin Distillery (The Wishing Well pub). Some lodges have parking adjacent, however not all (including Cava) however this was not an issue as you could park outside to unload and then leave your car in The Vineyard car park by the entrance (no distance at all and in sight from the lodge). The lodge was extremely clean throughout and very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed for a self-catering holiday including dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and full size oven. Unfortunately it only has a small fridge with an icebox freezer (ideally this could have been bigger). A nice touch was the complimentary starter pack of dishwasher tablets, washing tablets, washing up liquid and the welcome pack of milk, small pats of butter, shortbread biscuits, jams and tea and coffee sachets. There is an information folder in the lodge which contains a contact number should you have any issues (we had a minor issue with the hot tub one evening and it was fixed the next day and our text message was responded to within a few minutes). Some people have mentioned about the bright green emergency lights in the bedrooms, which is true, however we found these to helpful to find the way to the bathroom in the middle of night without stubbing toes !!. Also we found that when we closed our eyes to go to sleep, we couldn't see these lights !! There are no facilities at the park which suited us perfectly as we like the peace and quiet. However there is a Tesco Extra a five minute drive away and more importantly the gin distillery a minutes walk up the pathway(!!) which is well worth a visit, not just for the gin, but for their well stocked bar with local beers (Goddards), their good food menu and lovely outside terrace area at the rear overlooking the vineyard and fields. We would not hesitate to return to the vineyard lodges - in fact we want to return sometime in the future. A fantastic holiday.

We had a stay in Cava.

It was spotless, we had everything we needed . The only downside , and the reason. It got 4 stars instead of 5 , was the green light in the bedrooms. It made sleep difficult and nobody seemed to know why it was there. We had lovely weather and the IOW was charming .

This was a great property, one of the best we have been to over the years.

So quiet and peaceful and in a lovely setting. The only negative was the bright green light in the bedroom. Would however highly recommend these eco lodges and we will be visiting again in the near future.

Hot tub was great and lovely for star gazing in the evenings on a clear night. Highly recommended!

We had a much needed relaxing stay at Cava.

It was absolutely perfect, extremely well equipped and the hot tub was fantastic!

Everything clean and well equipped the sofas are uncomfortable our main fault are those green lights in the bedrooms !

I suspect the owner has not seen them at night they would light up a village hall and you cant turn them off

Lovely accommodation in a good location.

Helpful to be informed of the need to bring towels for the hot tub and tea towels. Just wish we had known we needed to bring our own hairdryer as non provided in the property. Also no bin liners in bin or oven gloves but otherwise well equipped. Will recommend to friends.

Good location. Easy walk into Seaview. Proximity to pub and distillery very handy.
