The Springs

We have a lovely, peaceful week at The Springs ( our 4th visit).

The property is very comfortable and the hosts friendly and helpful. The extension to the parking area was a real improvement. We particularly enjoyed watching the red squirrels and a family of woodpeckers raising their young.

Stayed at the lodge for 1 week in may, And what a gem, with a lovely pool, lovely wildlife I.

E red squirrels, woodpeckers, jays, And buzzards flying above every day, And we cant forget ( TED ) The Dog the owners pet, who joined us for breakfast every morning, very close to the beach, shops, and the zoo was very good, Justine the owner was a brilliant host, will definitely go back, Thankyou Tony and Eric.

We loved our stay at The Springs!

We were able to see red squirrels on a daily basis and many birds - all feeding in front of the kitchen window! Heaven! Generally, everything was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the main oven developed a fault. Justine, the owner, came in to look at it and was disappointed to note that it had not been cleaned after the last let. With our complete agreement, she provided us with a new air fryer and toaster (also damaged) and we managed perfectly well without the main oven. Unfortunately, the oven was not repaired or replaced in time for us to use, but was to be done asap and I hope this was rectified in time for the next inhabitants. Justine regularly topped up the bird feeders and left hazel nuts for the squirrels so we were never without entertainment, watching them leap about in the cherry tree. The outdoor seating provided a comfy viewpoint. We didn't use the swimming pool - our choice - but it looked inviting and was warmed by a solar cover. For the benefit of anyone with mobility issues, be aware that the access from the car parking space is through a gate and down a sloping grass area. Coming back, of course, it is up the gradient. My husband had no problem with it and I was ok as long as I took it slowly (I have breathing difficulties and a few other issues). In my opinion, most people would not have a problem with the gentle slope but it's something to bear in mind if you're not as fit as you'd like to be. We were able to enjoy Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle (Very steep access! Took me a while to get up there!!) We weren't able to manage any of the highest bits, but enjoyed the cafe and the general ambience. We also went to Shanklin, Sandown, Ryde (had a nice meal at The Ryde Castle - reasonably priced too). We were delighted to find lots of Blue Badge parking was free on the island and accessible toilets were generally clean and well maintained. People we met were all friendly and it was a joy to be away from the hustle and bustle of our home town. We visited between 16th - 23rd May, however, and was early in the season. Things may change as the island becomes busier! Our host, Justine, was very friendly and accessible (the property is in her garden) and we thank her for making us welcome and allowing us to enjoy this lovely place.

This is a place of comfort, peace and connection with nature.

Justine cares about the comforts of her guests and her wildlife and both are generously catered for! The barn has a huge comfortable bed, a very well equipped kitchen and good shower. Best of all there are almost constant red squirrels visible from the kitchen window. A special place!

Highly recommended.

Brilliant host, and a superb location. Host kept feeders stocked up for birds and squirrels, so garden had wildlife in it almost continously. The chalet is in a garden, so path down to it is across grass. All well-maintained and looked after, very comfortable, good heating and hot water, well-equipped kitchen. Views across the Solent from the side of the chatet, but to be honest we spent most of our time watching the wildlife! Location is close to main roads so easy to get anywhere on the island. Electric charging 32A always available when we needed it (shared with host).

The property was absolutely amazing and the location perfect.

Quiet and peaceful with just the wildlife to keep us company. Our every need catered for. Our hosts were a lovely couple who made us very welcome. Will definitely consider coming back for another visit.

Absolutely brilliant place to stay.

Everything is perfect and so warm and cosy; and the owners are lovely. Really make you feel welcome. Perfect for R&R. We loved it

An excellent well equipped and well presented accommodation.

Compact but with everything where it's needed. I'm temporarily partially disabled so the fact that everything is on the same level was crucial and the wet room type shower was a bonus. We both slept really well as the king size bed was the comfiest we've ever slept in. Our lovely hosts were always on hand should we have needed anything but didn't intrude on our privacy. All in all a lovely place to stay for a single person or a couple. Couldn't fault it at all.

Great stay in the cottage.

Birds and wildlife lots to see from cottage window. Birds, and a red squirrel. Lovely to eat breakfast outside and watch them. Justine the owner very helpful Swimming pool good to use on a hot day Plenty of cleaning products for use while there. Very relaxing holiday so quiet at night. Will return.

Superb accommodation in a lovely remote setting off the beaten track, with the benefit of a large garden area & the use of owners swimming pool.

Everything was as described and even better.

Very comfortable bed and settees. Loved the bird wildlife which helped to make our holiday so good. Pool was so warm and clean.

Unfortunately the swimming pool was out of use due to pump problems, which was very unfortunate due to the heatwave we were having

An absolutely beautiful lodge, in which we enjoyed a wonderful holiday, based in a sleepy, idyllic location, and hosted by the absolutely lovely and friendly host, Justine, who couldn't do enough for us.

The Springs is a quiet, comfortable and restful cabin, a perfect retreat for two surrounded by the countryside and its wildlife.

The Springs is a delightful place to stay.

Extremely comfortable with every facility made available by the welcoming hostess. The gardens are stunning, with all the wildlife around. This accommodation is perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful holiday in the lovely countryside. I would definitely recommend this first class holiday home to anyone.

What a lovely find.

The Springs was in a stunning position. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The wildlife was in a abundance with Red squirrels and an array of garden birds pheasants and the lovely barn owls who are nesting in the folly on the edge of the garden. The swimming pool was very welcome on the hottest day of the year. There was everything we needed in the springs the shower was great and always plenty of hot water. Justine the owner was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I would thoroughly recommend the springs you will not be disappointed.

Our second visit and and the only thing I would change is the weather!

The Springs is a great place to stay and easy to get to anywhere on the island. Thank you Justine for looking after us and keeping the birds fed. We have some great pictures of red squirells, Jays and most impressed with the barn owl. Sorry I forgot the little dogs, Dougal and Teddy who kept us amused.

Was really lovely property set in wonderful suroundings top of the range lovely inside like a retreat all furnishings top quality .

Loved all the birds and squirrels and anything else that turned up to say Hi. Justin and Mike, very friendly and helpful. Hope they get the mess cleared up soon, such a shame about the tree.

Our second visit to The Springs.

Fantastic place to stay, beautiful, peaceful and quiet. The wildlife is amazing to watch, especially the red squirrels - my personal favourite. Everything we needed and Justine was wonderful - always there if you need something. Will be going back.

A lovely peaceful place to stay.

Very much' off the beaten track' . The chalet is compact but very well-equipped. We would like to stay there again.

The Springs was well situated for us as we wanted to visit Frampton Marsh ( 9 minutes in the car).

It was spacious, with outside space/verandah which we really enjoyed, furniture and decor was more retro but suited us as very comfortable. Close to Boston although on this occasion we did not visit it. Certainly recommend it

The Springs was a great place to stay, very peaceful & quiet with just the wildlife for company.

The cottage is very well equipped, beautifully clean & extremely comfortable. It is well situated to visit the sites on the island. Justine made us very welcome & we look forward to going back.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Springs, in lovely countryside, with an abundance of birds on the feeders to keep you company.

Two red Squirrels sighted collecting nuts. Everything worked perfectly in the chalet, the bed was so big I am sure my wife slept in Sandown and me in Shanklin!! We would have no hesitation in rebooking. Now, not a criticism, but just my observation. It is a 40 yard trek across what can be wet grass to the chalet. Secondly, the swimming pool really is in the area adjacent to the owners home.

Very comfortable accommodation in quiet location set in beautiful countryside, ideal for exploring the island.

There was everything you would need in the kitchen including ample storage for your stay. The bed was very comfy with nice co ordinated bedding and decor. The daily visit of red squirrels to the cherry tree just outside the front door made the holiday very special.

This cottage is amazing.

A great welcome on arrival and we were delighted with the beautiful setting. Everything you could possibly need is here, from the fully equipped kitchen to the comfy bed and spacious lounge area. Watching the squirrels and many birds feeding in the trees outside the door was mesmerising. The pool just a few steps away and the only noises are the birds outside and the wood close by. Easy to get to so many local attractions and great viewpoints. Such a glorious find and we shall be back

The Springs was an ideal 'away from it all' holiday location and exceeded our expectations.

It wasn't an issue for us but access from the parking area across a large expanse of lawn without a path might be a problem for other guests, particularly in wet weather. In all other respects, the location, facilities, cleanliness and peace and quiet were a real treat, not to mention the profusion of red squirrels feeding in the trees just outside the kitchen window !

This was our third time staying at The Springs and, once again, it did not disappoint.

Justine, our host, was as lovely as ever. The peace and quiet was much needed and although the weather wasn’t great for our stay it was nice to come back to The Springs and curl up listening to the rain on the roof. The property is finished to a high standard and everything is thought of. The wildlife was amazing and although we didn’t see any red squirrels this time the birds were there in abundance. A great place to stay.

Everything we needed was there and Justine was a perfect hostess - always there if we needed her. We wanted a quiet break and got that. Fantastic holiday and we didn't want to leave!

A lovely rural retreat.

It was warm and cosy and ideal base for touring the island. We loved watching the wildlife and even managed a dip in the outside pool in September.

This well equipped cottage was set in a peaceful, large garden.

Birds abounded and squirrels, though somewhat elusive, were seen, which was wonderful.The pool was an added bonus. We were really pleased that we had chosen this property and recommend it.

When we arrived I was not expecting to be greeted by a washing line off male and female underwear.

This needs addressing. Also it was advertised as no dogs aloud but the owners had 2 Dogs which were aloud to roam anywhere and even came into our chalet. And on several occasions there was did pop in the garden we we had to ovoid . Little things make a big difference

The Springs is a perfect location and the owner has thought of everything to make our holiday so enjoyable.

The chalet has everything you could need for a relaxing break. The bed is particularly comfortable. Justine is a very pleasant and caring hostess.

The lovely owner has thought of everything, even filling feeders to attract the red squirrels and amazing variety of birds. The lodge is super cosy and comfortable, we will return as soon as we can

The cabin is very comfortable and everything has been thought of to make your stay comfortable. Being able to watch red squirrels from the chalet was magic. We shall be back!

The property was excellent as always, perfectly positioned and the pool made it.

This place is like staring in you own nature watch programme.

Pheasants, Red Squirrels, woodpecker and Barn Owls being just a few. You can just sit and relax watching this wild life all day. Cabin is fantastic all you need. Huge bed, fantastic shower. Highly recommended and hope to visit again soon.

We really enjoyed our week’s stay in this property which was an ideal base for exploring the island.

We found the property clean, well maintained and comfortable. The premises are very well equipped with a wet room/bathroom, superb kitchen/diner/lounge and very comfortable bed. The welcome pack includes clear details about the property and instructions for all appliances. An excellent location to relax and enjoy the company of the local wildlife - red squirrels in abundance.

Weather was not great but the wildlife was still joyful to watch and the Red Squirrel gave us a good show.

Summer would be even better with garden and swimming pool.

Having access to things like Netflix was appreciated. Best part was the wildlife outside the kitchen window- we'll miss our squirrels!

Exceptional

Spent one week here in August and it was lovely.

The landlady who lives on site provided us with everything that we needed only thing we had to bring was our bedding because of covid 19. It is so peaceful and quite with plenty of wildlife around. Plus the landlady's two cute little dogs. It is not far from the beach or attractions and would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone.

Perfect situation for red squirrel watching!

This is an extremely well-equipped, pleasantly furnished and altogether delightful little chalet within an attractive garden. Very cosy and has everything you could need. Quite close to a large Tesco but in a very rural and unspoilt setting. A real gem if you want to get away from it all.

Gorgeous cabin in a beautiful location.

The cabin is a real home from home, really cosy and comfortable with a kitchen equipped with all you need and more. Sitting in the garden watching the wildlife, especially the red squirrels, was a real joy. We didn't want to leave.

The high standard of quality furnishings and cleanliness throughout was matched by the high standard to attention to the upkeep of the extensive grounds.

This property is suitable for lovers of nature who wish to get away from it all. As from it all you most definitely are and the wildlife is abundant with a variety of birds and adorable red squirrels visiting daily. The outdoor swimming pool is a real boon in hot weather. The owners are very obliging and friendly and open to consider reasonable requests. Walking cycling or car for local stunning views and wooded glades is very very close by. Parking on premises. A superb place to holiday for a couple only 7 minutes from Ryde ferry.

As we've stayed at the Springs before we had a good idea what to expect there - this time too everything was A1, we had another truely lovely week there, the grounds are so lovely, we appreciate the quiet and peaceful area in which it is situated, we love the wildlife - and the anticipation of witnissing the Owls making an apperance every evening at dusk.

We adore the Isle of Wight, it offers everything you could possibly want for a holiday in the UK - even the weather was great again! Justine is a lovely host, made us feel so welcome, and was there if we needed anything - looking forward to returning soon we hope.

Wildlife (red squirrels by the bucket load, finches, pheasants, jays,etc) spectacular. Accomodation very clean, comfortable, & very quiet . A really relaxing stay. Would recommend to anybody

Justine, the owner is a lovely lady, and went way beyond what was expected .

Tea, Coffee, Sugar, Milk and fresh Milk were supplied, also Biscuits. The Lodge itself, was beautiful inside, and the owner had thought of everything. A basket of magazines and maps. A book on the Isle of Wight. A bird book ,and binoculars. There is a small tree outside the kitchen area window, and Justine has placed bird feeders on it , which she refills everyday. We were entertained by a variety of birds including pheasants, we also saw red squirrels feeding. The Lodge is in the owners ground in a peaceful setting .

Location perfect - peaceful with lots of wildlife. Comfortable chalet with all mod cons. Didn't use the swimming pool but I'm sure if we'd asked it would have been fine to do so.

we were extremely satisfied with the lodge and the layout. The swimming pool was the icing on the cake. we would definitely return again.

It was fascinating to see so many wild birds just outside our kitchen window. It was a thrill to follow the family of owls early morning and late at night.

The whole holiday at the Springs was superb from the warm welcome Justine gave us to watching the red squirrels and all the birds that visited the feeders Justine could not have been more helpful.

Beautiful surrounding wonderful experience

The Springs is a beautiful place to stay.

Home from home with all that you could possibly need and such a lovely calming peaceful place to relax after long days out exploring the island. The many animals and birds that visit the garden are a joy to watch and we managed to get some brilliant photos. We were lucky with the weather too, what a wonderful week we had, thank you so much Justine for allowing us to stay in your lovely holiday cottage.

We found the property, clean, comfortable and surrounded by peace and quiet.

There was an abundance of nature with many types of birds and the lovely red squirrels. The owners had provided bird feeders just outside of the chalet which attracted the birds and squirrels, we spent a lot of time being entertained. The chalet was in a remote area away from light pollution which allowed spectacular views of the night sky. The chalet was fully equipped with every conceivable piece of equipment, books and dvd's. We were so impressed with The Springs, we are hoping to stay again in the future when we visit our family on the Isle of Wight.

We've had a lovely holiday and it was good at the end of each day to know we could return to such a warm and comfortable cottage.

The added extra of the many wild birds and red squirrels was great too.
