What guests are saying
We had a lovely stay at this property on Chale Farm, situated just past the main gate.
There is good hard-standing for parking right next to the lodge, which was very convenient. The lodge was lovely and clean and very well equipped, and having two bathrooms worked really well for our family. The garden is a good size, with outdoor seating and plenty of space for the children to play safely. There is also a washing line, which was perfect as I only had one load of washing to do when we got home! The location is fantastic. The property is literally a stone’s throw from the Wight Mouse Inn, which is great for evening meals and has swings and space for the children. It is also very close to Blackgang Chine and Brook/Compton Beach, which is our favourite beach, complete with an ice cream van and no shops or arcades if you prefer a quieter beach day. The children particularly loved seeing the horses on Chale Farm who were taken out towards the end of the day and were even able to stroke one called Bob, which was a bonus Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend this lovely property for a family holiday.
Great location and interesting to be on a farm.
However the quality of the accommodation differed greatly to our last Sykes booking: the bedrooms were too small, the gate from the garden onto the road wouldn’t close properly leaving us to worry about small children’s safety. Overall the lodge had a cheap wooden cabin feel. There were plenty of pots & pans but only one lid; a larger casserole for a large family was needed too. The tv also wasn’t as smart as we would have liked, no Netflix or ability to access our Sky accounts.
The property was spotless when we arrived, and there was a home made lemon drizzle cake waiting for us when we arrived which was very nice.
So peaceful and quiet, the perfect place to wind down. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was great and a pub 2 mi utes down the road that does great food. We saw lots of wildlife and the occasional red squirrel. All in all a great place to stay.
