“Hubby and I had a lovely stay here, everything was exactly as described and it's a deceptively large property.”

We would definitely book again. The bed was the most comfortable one we have ever slept in on holiday. West Bay Club is a lovely site. The owner was absolutely fantastic from first contact, really appreciated his help with booking the ferry. Book this property with confidence, you won't be disappointed.

“The property was very clean and compact.”

It had all the required amenities. The owner was helpful with the ferry booking and we saved about 60% on the ferry. The property is very close to the Yarmouth harbour and convenient for nearby attractions. We will be coming back to this property.

“We had a lovely stay here.”

The cottage is amply big enough for a family of four. Everything worked well and was in good condition. The kitchen was very well equipped and the cottage was nicely furnished. I especially liked the fact that both the kitchen and living room open onto a decked area with outdoor seating. The cottage is set in a spacious and well maintained holiday park - excellent for the kids to play around in.

“Our accommodation very much lived up to its reviews and was a lovely base to explore the island from.”

Lots of little extras to find as you settle in made our stay very comfortable and the whole settlement was very nice and quiet. The offer of help with the ferry charges is an absolute game-changer that you must talk to the owner about. We would have been very happy to stay here for two weeks rather than one. The only thing I could say is there is a need for a small maintenance visit as a few things coming loose like chair / table legs and cupboard doors, we tried to tighten ourselves but we had no correct tools. Lovely stay.

“We stayed in August 2025 and had a wonderful stay.”

Perfect place to stay to explore the island. We did have a few minor issues. Trying to find a trolley to transport our luggage to the cottage from the car, was a problem, we was aware the car park was not close to the accommodation but there just wasn’t enough trolleys on site. Shower in master bedroom wasn’t as clean as we would have expected, we think the cleaner may have missed this. The door wedges for the doors we found not to be adequate as they kept closing. Other than that we throughly enjoyed our stay, we would stay again.

We had a very nice holiday in a comfortable bungalow. The West Bay estate is very quiet and it’s like a holiday village. We had some hot weather but didn’t too hot inside the bungalow.

“I found the cottage to be well appointed and comfortable for my 5-night stay.”

In general I was very happy with it and the location. The owner was helpful in contacting me directly to send info for ferry discounts and a copy of the house information folder, which I appreciated. The box of attractions brochures on the coffee table was very useful. I have some minor points for feedback for the cottage itself: - some of the crockery/glassware was not very clean - cupboard door left of sink unit was badly out of alignment - thermostat on bathroom towel rail did not seem to work - it seemed to be always on hot no matter where the dial was set. As it was a hot week when I was staying, this probably did nothing to reduce the overall temperature of the cottage. Also the radiators were a bit hit and miss in their adjustment - I was trying to turn them off due to the heat - the door to the bedrooms from the living room was hard to keep open (for through ventilation) as the door wedges just slid on the flooring. Some non-slip backing on the wedges might help - a key for the window locks would have been useful - some info in the property management folder was not correct In addition, there's a few points I though might be useful for the owner's folder: - More detailed information about the heating/heated towel rails other than thermostat location. What does the thermostat actually control? - Location of switch for ensuite extractor fan (for those unfamiliar with this type of switch). Can't see it with bedroom door open - Location of nearest bus stop and bus route details (for those using public transport) - More information on the grocery stores in Yarmouth would be useful Other than these points, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the cottage and would recommend it. As directed in our welcome booklet we do feel that many of the issues you raised could have been resolved by contacting our housekeeping/maintenance team on the island which could have made your stay much more enjoyable. We will raise your points with them. We did include bus timetable leaflets which have obviously proved popular however bus information is included in the website visitisleofwight.co.uk which we recommend in our booklet. “The property was very clean and beautifully furnished with everything we needed.”

All of the 'little touches' were much appreciated, such as tea towels, washing up liquid, hairdryer etc. Nothing was too much trouble; the owner was really helpful and informative and communication was brilliant. The site was lovely, a real haven of tranquillity, and the property felt like a fabulous home from home. We had an amazing holiday - thank you

About the location

YARMOUTH

The attractive seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and its busy harbour is a haven for all kinds of watercraft, with the terminal used for regular mainland ferry crossings to Lymington. Yarmouth’s narrow streets are home to an attractive array of shops and inns, whilst a visit to Henry VIII’s castle is not to be missed. There's great cycling (and a cycle hire shop) and walking to be had along the coastal path. Why not take an energetic stroll at the nearby Tennyson Down and Headon Warren. Sandhard beach is 15 minutes' walk away, with Colwell Bay with its sandy beach and amenities for the family 7 minutes away by car. Yarmouth's pier and sailing club jetty is another good spot for crabbing. Four miles away is Compton Bay, famous for dinosaur remains; head there at low tide and see if you can find the two enormous three-toed feet. West Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Yarmouth is an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful island.
