Acorn Bank Lodge
Description
Acorn Bank is a modern lodge at Fallbarrow Park, in a lovely, elevated position surrounded by trees.
Sleeping four people in two bedrooms, with room in the master bedroom for an infant’s travel cot (can be hired along with a high-chair for £5).
There is a spacious two-tier gated deck which wraps around the front and side of the lodge and has outside furniture provided, and the added fun of a hot tub on the upper deck outside the main patio doors.
Outside furniture with plenty of space to eat outdoors and enjoy the hot tub will help you forget the stresses and strains of everyday life and pooch is welcome too!
Inside is a spacious open plan living area with dining and kitchen space, modern dining table and chairs, 42” flat screen Smart TV.
The master double bedroom has an ensuite shower room, and the second bedroom has narrow twin beds.
Both have cupboards and wardrobes and TV and there’s a family bathroom with shower.
Fallbarrow Park is one of the loveliest Parks in the lake district, sitting right on the shores of Lake Windermere, with views across the lake and up to the fells all around.
The bustling, cosmopolitan village of Bowness-on-Windermere is 0.2 miles walk away handy for many shops, bars and restaurants.
From Bowness Pier you can start an unforgettable day out on the water with Windermere Lake Cruises – board a beautiful cruiser and hop on and off or rent a canoe or a motorboat.
If you wish to stay closer to your lodge, Fallbarrow has on site bar, restaurant, deli, as well as a children’s play area, beer garden, picnic area and woodland walks.
(dogs in the café or outside seating area only).
Further afield, drive up to Windermere village – two miles away, or the bustling market town of Ambleside four miles away and you are only four miles from Troutbeck village at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass which winds its way up over the high fells and then down to Ullswater.

The Lodge was in an excellent location, for strolling into Bowness or travelling to different destinations, to walk The Wainwright Fells.
The Lodge was very clean and modern, it was equipped with everything you could possibly need. The hot tub was well maintained and not overlooked. We've already booked to come back next year.

The lodge was ideally located near Bowness-on-Windemere, whilst being clean and well equipped.
We had no issues with the accommodation and was very pleased. The sporadic internet connection seems to be a holiday park issue, but it was not an internet heavy trip and 4G worked fine with our devices. One of the benefits of this lodge was the use of the hot-tub which for the first day was superb, however, it was not maintained at all during our stay which was very disappointing considering the premium we paid for the use of this. Our stay started on Monday afternoon until checkout on Friday morning. By Wednesday afternoon the water was cloudy and excessively frothy. When we returned from a walk around 2pm Thursday, we saw the person who we believed maintained the hot-tub leaving our lodge? When we removed the cover, the water was green and had a terrible odour, it had clearly not been looked at and is not acceptable after such a short stay. Having previously stayed in places with hot-tubs and had a hot-tub myself this should never happen and clearly the hot-tub didn’t have the right balance or chemicals in it. This is very poor. I did call Sykes to complain and was informed that someone would call by to check the hot-tub in about 1-1.5 hours. We stayed in all afternoon/evening and nobody had the decency to turn up. When I chased progress with Sykes, the line was closed for the day. A disappointing end to a lovely break.
lovely lodge very comfortable everything you needed in kitchen was great and good quality.
hot tub could do with a good deep clean we did not use it as it didn`t look very clean.It was lovely to sit outside and the weather was great but we did find it rather noisy being near the park, but saying this would be perfect for a family. fantastic location and park.
We were so happy with our stay and facilities at this holiday park.
All the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our lodge was lovely and clean and well equipped, like home from home, with the added bonus of a hot tub which was inspected every day of our stay. Oh yes and the bottle of pressecco on arrival was another bonus.Highly recommended and we would definitely go back again
The lodge is situated in the perfect location in Bowness on Windermre, although you cannot see the lake from the lodge a 1 minute walk within the park site takes you to breath taking views, The lodge is lovely & private especially the hot tub area.
The lodge is equipped with everything you need for your stay, they have left nothing out. I would however say that the bedding requires updating, more specifically the pillows, unfortunately they are very uncomfortable, the only small issue we had was it rained all night every night and due to the materials the lodge is made out of this is very noisy and we had trouble sleeping for the duration of our stay, The location is perfect, with just a 2-3 minute walk you are in the heart of the village in Bowness on Windermere which has the perfect views of the lake, with access to all the shops, bars & restuarants along with ferry ports to have the great boat trip on the lake. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to return.
Lovely stay at acorn lodge, it was exactly as described, the lodge is elevated and does give some privacy on the decking which was nice, the lodge was warm and cosy and had everything you needed, the bottle of Prosecco on arrival was a really nice touch, the hot tub was hot on arrival which was great as well, I would recommend this lodge and stay again when visiting the lakes.
The location is great for easy access around all of the southern lakes.

Decking has lifted in places… Hot tub wasn’t hot so didn’t use it a lot … Abit disappointed as we paid a lot of money for the 5 nights we stayed over Christmas…
The lodge is absolutely perfect!
The only let down is the wooden steps leading from the gate, extremely slippery my wife fell the 1st taking our for a walk. The decking planks aren't the problem but the little wooden finishing at the end of the steps. They need a non slip surface on them! with them been very short steps. But other than that the accommodation is perfect. Fix the step and this would be a prefect accommodation.
Excellent location and accommodation is just what you need for a break in the lakes.
Hot tub was a great addition. Only issue we had was the smart TV wouldn’t pick up internet so couldn’t watch Netlfix / on demand. My only suggestion would be to add some coat hooks in the hallway for when you come in the door - would be very useful. Would definitely stay again.
Our initial arrival impressions were positive, and the location seemed fine—situated opposite a children’s playground so a little noisy (not the lake view we had hoped for, infact cant see the lake at all).
However, things quickly went downhill. We discovered black mould on the walls and curtains in the master bedroom, along with damp issues that left our clothes smelling unpleasant. The upper deck balustrades were broken and unsafe in 2 places, and the safety light above the 12 steps was out, creating a hazard. The light issue was reported and eventually repaired, two days later.Despite the lodge having potential, it’s clear it just needs some TLC & maintenance. What truly soured the experience was dealing with Sykes. It took almost a month of calls, texts, and repeated pictures & emails to get any form of goodwill gesture. The customer service was rude, frustrating and unresponsive. Never again will we book with Sykes.
Great place
This is our fourth visit to Acorn Lodge, and we have an amazing time every single stay.
It's just a short walk to the center of Bowness and ideally located for bus stops. The lodge also has its own parking, which is a great bonus. The location is perfect, the lodge is always clean, and it has all the necessary facilities, including a hot tub. Each time we visit, the lodge has been updated to ensure everything stays in excellent condition.
Fantastic stay at Acorn Bank, the lodge itself is elevated providing more privacy with lots of steps leading up so anyone with mobility problems may struggle.
The lodge was well equipped with everything you could need plus comfortable beds too. The hot tub was lovely too perfect temperature. We were not expecting a welcome pack including a bottle of Prosecco

It was clean & tidy. It's in a great location, set higher up so more private & the hot tub was a great extra. We really enjoyed our stay. A couple of things to point out (which may not bother you but for us with kids it did) the Internet which it states is provided is none existant, couldn't even find the network 90% of the time & the smart tv therefore doesn't work either. If those things aren't of importance to you the lodge is a definite stay.

Highly recommend and would come back. Great location on Park, set up higher than the rest so more private. Easy walking distance to lake. Couple things that might not bother anyone else but we found the beds a little hard to sleep on and we found a broken glass down the side of one bed, there was also chewed plastic bottles under the tv stand from a previous dog which hadn’t been cleaned and lots of long ginger hairs on carpet. This is nothing against the lodge but the cleaners hadn’t done a full clean or they would have seen the broken glass and plastic bottles and hoovered up the hairs. I didn’t expect to come to tidy up broken glass and have to hoovered but we did. Overall amazing, hot tub was fantastic and would definitely come back.
Me and mum had an amazing time in the lodge, it was clean, comfortable and made us feel right at home.
Thank you for the bottle of prosecco it was lovely. The hot tub just finished off everyday perfectly. What a brilliant little place to call home for a week.

We usually book Fallbarrow through Parkdean and always get Oakside 19 which is lovely, but less private as directly backs on to playground.
This year we wanted something different. When I saw Acorn lodge on your website I booked straight away as I have always liked the look of it on previous visits to the park. Wow, we were not dissappointed. A beautiful, spacious well equiped lodge with everything we needed. Wrap around decking and lower deck was ideal for dogs in the glorious weather. My son, loved the hot tub and used it twice a day. As the lodge is positioned higher, it gives a sense of privacy. We as a family really enjoyed this lodge and will book again for sure. We had a lovely stay in this lodge, well situated next to the club house and had everything we needed.
Loved our stay at Acorn Bank Lodge, lovely and clean the property is in a good location on the site been close to the reception, restaurant and play park but not too close to be disturbed by any noise.
The property is on an elevated site which may be a problem for some people but this information is given on the advert. with the added bonus of the hot tub what’s not to love
What a great dog friendly lodge, in a really good location.
Clean and Tidy everything we needed for a short break. The hot tub was really good. Designated parking spot adjacent to the lodge. This was our first stay at Acorn Bank Lodge, hopefully we will return.

Beautiful property and very clean .

This property was amazing, so clean everything we needed for our 20 year anniversary trip.
The only thing was the WiFi unable to connect anything other then our phones, on an evening wanted to watch films but unable to connect our PlayStation. Reception very helpful explained that WiFi not strong enough as not password protected. Did notice other lodges had sky dishes and online stated they had their own WiFi. Other then this the stay was perfect.

Bed was super comfy as well. Hot tub was great to relax in as well. It’s a great park as well and 5-10 min walk to the town centre which has plenty choice for food.
Lovely to return to this fantastic lodge.
Very comfortable and had everything we needed, it was even decorated with a Christmas tree. We will return again no doubt!

We must like this lodge, we have stayed 3 times now.
I felt this time it wasn't as clean as it has been in the past, there was a dog toy under the unit in the kitchen (our little dog alerted us to this the second we walked in) and it definatley hadn't been hovered under there. The facilitys in the lodge are very good. Nice powerful showers, well equipt kitchen, nice comfortable bed. The hot tub, is checked each day, and was a nice treat after a days walking. We had an issue on day when we came back to the lodge and found we had no electric. It had been a wet day. We couldn't find the fuse box, so called the help line, who were very helpful. They checked with the owner who got someone from park maintainace to come and help us find the external fuse box. The fuse had tripped, so that fixed the problem, but sadly it tripped a further 3 times, so I do think that needs addressing, because if it is water ingress... the lakes gets a lot of water. All in all we enjoyed our stay again at Acorn Lodge. Fallbarrow Park is a great location, pubs, restaurants, shops and walks all from the door step.
This was an excellent lodge with excellent facilities hotub, washer, dishwasher 2 bathroom and excellent position on park I would highly recommend to anyone to give it a go for short or long break

It was the most well equipped lodge we have ever stayed in and the bottle of Prosecco was a great touch. The hot tub was fantastic with super outside area completely safe for our dog. We could not seem to work the television in the main bedroom not sure why and a bigger doormat on entry would be useful with the dog and wet shoes. Thank you for a great stay.

We had a great stay at Acorn Bank Lodge.
There was everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The location is perfect. 5 minutes from shops, restaurants & bars. The site itself is so clean & peaceful and right beside the lake. The dog was safe with the enclosed decking and we had use of the dog area. The hot tub was well used and serviced daily. We hope to return in the future.

The hot tub is amazing and ready to go as soon as you arrive, never had a single problem or complaint I will happily and hopefully stay here again in the future. Close to town centre 5 mins walk, and right near onsite bar and restaurant as well as cafe and shop, lake is literally round the corner . All round great place to stay!!

Great, modern lodge in fantastic location.
Had a lovely week staying there. Unfortunately, there were a few problems which took a little of the shine off a little. The WiFi didn’t work until halfway through our holiday and we had to get a different router. It was sorted as quickly as possible (24 hrs or so) but the instructions weren’t clear for use and meant an extra cost to me for kids data. The hot tub temperature was changeable. First couple of days, was lovely and warm but then went tepid. Again, somebody came and attended to it pretty quickly but, by the time it had warmed back up again, we were going home and so had 2 days of perfect temperature and two days of tepid temperature. The TV in the kids bedroom didn’t work and appeared to have no signal. Something I didn’t bother to query after the above. There was a water leak on the window sill at the kitchen area window. I have to say there was very heavy rain for most of the week so possibly a bit of an occupational hazard. The challenge of staying Monday-Friday and checking in at 4.00pm and out at 10.00am is that the site can’t afford to get anything wrong. And, unfortunately, the small things that I feel you pay a little more for, were the things that did go wrong.
Immaculately clean and lovely lodge, they was a couple of maintenance issues that could do with looking at, the lid to the hot tub needs looking at and the umbrella next to it is broken so can't be used, in the kitchen the window next to the sink has a slight leak when its raining, these are small issues and the lodge is amazing, we will be looking to book again we enjoyed our stay.

The mattress on the double bed is broken and felt like we were falling out of it.
The freezer need’s defrosting we could barely get the draws open top draw not at all. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay. The umbrella over the hot tub was a godsend with all the rain.

The lodge was clean and comfortable.
I had read reviews that it was a bit tired, but I found it fine for a holiday lodge. A bit on the expensive side at over £800 for 3 nights, but I guess you pay for the location. The hot tub was clean and was checked every morning by park staff and it was a welcome rest after a full day exploring. A bottle of prosecco was there when we arrived, which was a nice touch. The directions to the lodge need updating as they say it is on yhe right after the Gulf garage. We drove past it as the garage is no longer there and was a construction site with very noisy machinery work that started at 7.30 on Monday morning. I was glad i wasn't there for a full week as being woken up at that time on holiday is not good. That was the only niggle I had. Overall pretty good

Lodge is lovely and very homely.
The hot tub was ready to use when we arrived which was fabulous. The extensive decking area is really great. We also had access to the local leisure centre which was handy to have. Beds were very comfy. Kitchen, bathroom etc were clean. Both the bathrooms need some tlc, chipped bath, and there are clear sealant/damp issues across the property and tired skirting boards. There are lot dead flies on window sills and internal cob webs, etc, which was off putting. The park itself is really great and a premium park with a 3 minute walk to Bowness. The land next to the park is getting developed, so 20 metres from this lodge, work started between 7:30am and 8:15 am every morning, we are dissatisfied that we were not told about the works, they went on most of the day and were intermittently noisy. The staff and food in the willow restaurant on site are brilliant but the service is awful. Waiting anything from 40-50 minutes for a starter, a real shame, it wasn’t brilliant last year but is definitely worse which is a let down to o the whole park. On the whole, really enjoyed our stay.

Great lodge great location
Lovely lodge in a great location.
Sitting in the hot tub felt like we were in a tree house. It needs a little TLC here and there and the fridge wasn't very good (either too warm or frozen!). There was only the remains of the toilet roll on each holder with no spares, it would have been a nice touch to provide spares. Some of the utensils need replacing and the knives are really really blunt! Luckily I had my camper van with me with my own stuff that I could use. Small things but at this price point I would expect a little more attention to detail.
We had an amazing stay at Acorn Bank Lodge.
It was very well equipped with everything we could have needed, very comfy beds too. The elevated position, decking and hot tub was a real bonus. I would highly recommend this accommodation. The only downside was that I had to wash the cutlery and a few plates however this would not stop me from rebooking again in the future.

Thicker curtains (black out ) would be better in the twin bedroom. The sun was very bright.

Prior to this trip we last stayed at Acorn Lodge Dec 2017.
We love the location of the park and when we saw this lodge had availability it was nice to know what we were ‘expecting’ and very welcoming to see the lodge had had new sofas and carpets fitted throughout since our previous visit. Even though on first glance the lodge looks very welcoming and clean I personally don’t think the cleanliness is to what should be expected when housekeeping has between 10am of a family leaving to 4pm to a new family arriving; I wiped down the kitchen worktops, dining table and coffee table when we arrived and my cloth was dirty. The mattress in the master room was one we remembered as soon as we laid down; I can only describe it as if you lay facing the outside of the bed it can feel like you’re going to roll out and if you face the inside of the bed, it feels like you’re trying to climb a slop, I understand a lot of different shapes and sizes will sleep in that bed over the year but it was incredibly uncomfortable but bedding was very clean. Due to the weather we didn’t use the hot tub but you could feel the heat under the cover and it definitely smelt clean and hygienic. The above wouldn’t put us off staying in the lodge again but for the price we paid for this stay, in what I would consider to be out of season, I would initially look into other lodges first to see if I could get more for my money.

We had a wonderful stay.
The lodge was spotless as was the hot tub. It was lovely and cosy. We stayed for 3 nights and would definitely return. Everything thing is in easy walking distance.

The en suite was unusable.
We had to leave the door closed all week as it reeked of sewers in there. I think the drains must have a problem in that bathroom. The cleaners left a cleaner in the bath and the baby had a weird chemical bath Broken noisy bathroom fan Cabin smells of cigarette smoke when we arrived. Had to open all windows to air. The tv turns off and on every 10 minutes These are just a few things we found. The cabin itself was a brilliant location and the facilities of the park as its staff were great. Will stay again as long as a little tlc is given to the lodge. I hope you receive all this as constructive and not me complaining. Many thanks.

The lodge is perfect location and the complimentary bottle of champagne was a nice touch. The hot tub and indoor fire was lovely and is perfect location to walk in to bowness or down to the lake. Only downside was that some of the facilities in 'The Willows' were only available to 'owners'. Which meant we werent allowed use of the pool table or the on site bar/restaurant one night as it was for owners only. Wasn't too much of an issue but a great weekend overall.

Gorgeous lodge, it had everything we needed and was literally home from home.
Beautiful inside and out - it was nice to arrive to a lovely Christmas tree in the lounge and a surprise bottle of prosecco. Hot tub was amazing especially sat in there while it snowed. Ideal location as literally minutes walk to bowness centre. We usually stay at whitecross bay but this is definitely our new favourite. Thank you so much we will be back.

We have stayed in a few lodges now, but this lodge is by far our favourite ! Very comfortable, cosy and great location. It was also very safe for our cavapoo dog Amber who was able to walk around the enclosed decking area. In addition we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub after our long walks. Will definitely book again.

The park was well kept and clean, clubhouse was fine although a bit lacking in staff.
The lodge was excellent, clean and comfortable. Beds were good even for a 6'3" like me. All the necessary fitments, all clean and working. Hot tub was a real luxury after a long day walking. Ideal location to explore the Lakes.

The property and location are perfect for us.
The inside of the lodge was very clean and well presented but the outside was disappointing.
The decking was covered in leaves, bird poo and was thick with spiders webs. I used the outside brush to clean this up myself and the hose to clean off the bird poo on the steps to the hottub. The outside furniture was also very dirty. I understand leaves will fall and birds will poo but it was clear this was old bird poo and the decking hadn’t been cleaned for a while. I don’t feel for the cost of the lodge that I should have to do so much cleaning myself in order to use the outside space. The instructions to get to the lodge were not very clear and perhaps the “main clubhouse” could just be called the bar/restaurant and it should be emphasised there are 3 roads at the main entrance and the correct one is the far right. We followed the first right with signs for “L” and got lost. The lodge is quite close to the pub and playground but this didn’t cause much noise at night and the close proximity to the lake is also advantageous.

The name of the clubhouse is outside of our control as the onsite facilities are run and owned by Parkdean Resorts. That said, we do hope you enjoyed what Acorn Bank had to offer and managed to explore the Lakes during your stay.

I stay in either this park or White cross every year and have never had to leave negative feedback.
This lodge was dirty, mould in bathrooms, dust on skirting boards. The en-suite smelt of drains. The lodge has a stale smell to it. The hot tub only worked (was too cold as did not get up to temperature) for one of the four nights which is not acceptable and ruined the stay. On two occasions it was not treated right and was foaming. I reported it and still every day we had the same issues.
Thank you for the valued feedback. The owner has looked into this and could not see any signs of dust or mould. And could not smell damp or mould in the bathroom or lodge. The hot tub water is changed and checked for every arrival and foaming is only caused by washing products on body’s or clothes, which aren’t showered off before going in the hot tub. We do apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. We do hope you will return to the English Lake District.
Lovely, clean park within a short 5 minute walk of Bowness.
Lodge was very well equipped, comfortable, clean. Kitchen had everything needed from every cooking utensil you might need to a dishwasher. Central heating worked so well we had to turn it down a little. The hot tub was a lovely addition and taken advantage of. After a day exploring, nothing better than a glass or two in the hot tub. Only downside to the hot tub was the umbrella was broken and as expected the weather in the lakes is changeable. Reported the breakage of the umbrella to the pool man, who came each day to monitor the hot tub and add the necessary chemicals. His response was that he would report it, followed by "but I wouldn't hold your breath." One evening we decided to eat in the sites own pub/restaurant. Unfortunately we are unable to comment on the food, as we stood at the bar to order for 10 minutes being ignored, as customer after customer came to the bar after us and got served. We left and ate at the Hylton restaurant in Bowness, which we can thoroughly recommend. Overall a lovely place to be in a beautiful part of the world, we would definitely stay again but would avoid the on site pub/restaurant.

We have stayed before and loved it just as much this time. Being able to walk into Bowness with all the shops & restaurants so close is wonderful but then feeling like you are tucked away from the world relaxing in the hot tub makes it fantastic.
Lovely accommodation, although I had to wash the pants and some cutlery before using them as they hadn't been washed very well.
I don't think the cleaners move the coffee table when hoovering as our dog found a sweet underneath it, luckily she didn't eat it
We had a really lovely week at acorn bank lodge, the price was really reasonable- although quite sad to see the prices shoot up (I have checked lots of dates for the next year) as we would have loved to stay again but understandable with everything that’s going on at the moment.
Even though the weather was awful, the lodge was lovely and cosy and the hot tub made it all that bit better. Location was wonderful, a 3 minute walk into the centre of windermere from the boat trips etc. Reason for cleanliness rating - it was clean and smelt lovely on arrival but it was quite clear numerous dogs have been, we don’t have a dog ourself so the carpets and the living room pillows had a scent of dog became noticeable ( I didn’t smell the carpets I just noticed it when sat on the living room floor when playing toys with my 4 year old ) but I understand when you rent a dog friendly lodge this is to be expected. We found the double bed quite hard which was not to our preference however overall lovely stay and would definitely return if the prices hadn’t increased - so I will keep my eye out for any drops in prices as I can imagine this would be lovely in the summer ( I understand prices are naturally higher in summer) and would get more use out of the decking. Also our 4 year old had a great time and slept wonderfully in the twin beds, she enjoyed in being right across from the park and the indoor play area.

Fallbarrow park is just amazing.
This was our third visitbut first time at Acorn Lodge. The location of the lodge was fantastic. It was very homely, with all home comforts provided. The hot tub was brilliant. There was a foisty damp smell in the ensuite shower, but a diffuser had been added to try and mitigate the odour as I am sure the owner is aware. The shower is not very good in the ensuite, but that didn't affect the holiday. Complimentary prosecco was a lovely touch. Thanks very much.

Only negative is from my teenage kids over the wifi for the park being very weak and unusable, but not sure whether that was even included with this lodge, so if not please ignore! :)
We were disappointed with the second bedroom as it was tiny and the 2 sofa's in the lounge were a bit small for 4 people.
Apart from that all lovely. Probably wouldn't book this lodge again as noisy near the playground and lots of people walking past at all hours (3.30am)!

The lodge is in a great location, well equipped, laid out well and nicely done.
Hot tub is great and well maintained. We arrived to a bottle of prosecco wgich was a really nice touch. There was a bit if a damp smell which seems to be a common theme in feedback on this lodge which hasn't been addressed by the looks of it but other than that clean and no complaints. Few things to mention, I would say getting in at 4pm is a tad late and would recommend 3pm entry. You will only allow 1 dog. I have 2 small old dogs trained that would of loved to enjoy our family break but despite allowing you to select 2 dogs at booking stage its 1 dog stated in the small print. Also we had dinner only once on site at the restaurant. Firstly they stop food at 2030 which I think is very early and secondly I would say 75/80% of the menu wad unavailable but thats for parkdeans to resolve .

Hottub maintained daily which was nice to know although we didn't end up using it. steps leading up a little bit awkward all different heights but manageable. Location is central to all different places driving and walking, step out of site turn right 2 min walk and into bottom half of the town. Facilities on site good. Walk round corner from Lodge little sitting area on the lake with a lovely view. Have booked again for next year but have chosen different lodge which is facing the lake purley for the views. Other wise Acorn is a nice lodge. Booked Same site and company.
Acorn bank Lodge wasn’t clean and would have expected much better cleanliness due to COVID-19, had to wash both bath and en suite shower before use.
Had to wash the bedding in double room as had marks on it to find the quilt was also the same in-fact had a lot of stains on it. Wardrobe hadn't been cleaned, had to wipe down and surface hadn’t been wiped for a long time was thick in black dirt so refused to use and had to live out of suitcase for the stay. The lodge had a horrible smell in what I can only describe as damp. In the en-suite bathroom they was water all over the floor not sure if it was a leak from the toilet or leak from the sealant in the shower had to put the hand towel given on the floor to soak it up. Lodge overall needs a lot of TLC and have previously read this on a past review so thought these issues would have been sorted. Disappointed in the restaurant didn’t serve breakfast all week waitress said we should have received an email but no email received also one waiter was funny with grand parents about ordering at the bar or waiter serving at the table, the app wouldn’t work on my phone and was told to let staff know however he insisted he looked at it why would we lie about this also couldn’t use my grandads as he is nearly 70 as isn’t up to speed on technology and doesn’t have a smart phone, I understand the rules because of COVID-19 but it is how he was. Previously we stayed at buttermere lodge and we thought we would try this one but we won’t choose it again and was disappointed with site for reasons above, in 2019 we had an overall amazing stay and that’s why we revisited but this time is wasn’t like that even down to the take over of the restaurant.
Lovely lodge however we didn’t find the second bedroom large enough for 2 adults.
Also the dog field was tiny so again for us we didn’t find it suitable for our spaniel. Would recommend the lodge for its fab location but for a family with 2 children not for 4 adults.

Lovely log cabin in a great location, very clean, comfortable and modern. We all had a lovely long weekend away. This was truly fabulous. I stayed here with my wife and 2 infants and we loved it. Locations, amenities and hot tub were perfect. The lodge is only a few minutes walk to the shops in barrow. The lodge is maintained to a high standard and we didn't have any complaints. I have travelled well and I would say that this was one of my best holidays and the credit mainly goes to the lodge. I was also told that this lodge is the best lodge in the park as its the only one with a hot tub. Credit goes to the owners. The Lodge is lovely, everything you could want in the way of kitchen utensils, cleaning products etc..furnished nicely, comfy beds and pillows. Acorn Bank Lodge is in an excellent location and the lodge has everything you need. The hot tub is a bonus at the end of a long day walking. We took our 3 year old springer spaniel who loved it, it was so good that the decked area was secure for him. The site of Fallbarrow Park is in an excellent location we did not use our car all week, the reception staff were excellent and there is a nice deli/shop for essentials. We will be returning! Excellent lodge in the heart of Windermere
What a fab place to stay. The lodge was excellent. Best we have ever stayed in and so well equipped and looked after. The icing on the cake was the hot tub. Fallbarrow Park is very senic and had excellent walks from its door and the view from the park over Lake Windermere was breathtaking. Would recommend to anyone looking for relaxation peace and quiet just to completely chillout The lodge is very clean and comfortable with every thing you need. There is a hot tub which is just wonderful very relaxing and very private no one can see you in among the trees. I would recommend this to anyone. Superb location
The lodge is very comfortable and the location of the park is superb, great range of shops, pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance. Beautiful lodge
Myself and my husband stayed for 3 nights with our dog. The lodge itself was excellent! Beautifully laid out, and in an excellent location. Very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was a bonus, after long days shopping! The lodge was equipped with everything you needed, even dog bowls which we forgot to take! Fallbarrow park was a beautiful site, and only a couple of minutes walk into bowness, with loads of shops and pubs. We stay at the Lake District often and we think this is far the best holiday we have had. So we will be back and are looking to book this lodge again, thank you
An amazing place to stay!!
This is an amazing place to stay. We arrived and could see that the lodge had been cleaned to an excellent standard. The lodge had everything that you needed to enjoy your holiday. The Lodge is situated on a perfect location, close to Windermere. We loved the hot tub and used it on a daily basis. We stayed at Acorn Bank in February, so the park was very quiet, which we liked. I would definitely recommend this lodge to my family and friends. The lodge was dog friendly and when we arrived we could see no evidence that dogs had been staying at the lodge.

The best lodge
Stayed in a few lodges in fallbarfow holiday park, but this was was the first one through lake district lodges. And it was head and shoulders above anything we have stayed in before. The lodge was spotless, every amenity you could think of was provided. And the hot tub was just something else. The only thing is if you have little ones, trying to carry the buggy upstairs to the lodge when there asleep is a bit precarious. Bit I'll definitely be back. A big thank you to the owners for allowing is to stay.

We enjoyed ourselves. There was a small problem with the electric kettle.(broken lid hinge). We phoned it in. A new kettle was delivered inside fifteen minutes. We have just returned from a long weekend at Acorn Bank Lodge. What a fantastic holiday! The booking and arrangements for the lodge once again went smoothly thanks to Lake District Holiday Lodges. I would honestly not consider booking a lodge through anyone else. On arrival ours was one of only a few lodges that had been cleaned and was ready for occupation. The lodge is modern, clean and comfortable - you can tell the owners really care about your experience at their lodge, even down to them leaving recommendations of where to eat and shop locally. The Lodge is well equipped, great tv's, showers and a fantastic hot tub. Best of all for us they accept well behaved dogs. The lodge is situated just across from the restaurant/bar/shop area which is very handy and not noisy at all. Fallbarrow Park is lovely, with a great fenced in dog exercise area and just a few minutes walk from the centre of Bowness. We cannot wait to return in August!! Perfect stay, great location and fabulous weather
We had a lovely weekend stay at Acorn Lodge. The location of the lodge was ideal for walking into Bowness and Windermere village and also for our son who spent most of his time playing with other children on the park. A couple of minutes stroll from the Lake the lodge is well equipped, comfortable, clean, private and has the bonus of the hot tub. We had perfect weather which made our stay even better and didn't use the car for three days, all amenities were accessible on foot. We would certainly recommend and will be returning in the future. A Perfect Lodge
Second time staying at Acorn Bank in Windermere. One of the best lodges we have stayed in. The owners have thought of everything you need to the smallest detail for a self catering holiday. The lodge has such a lovely position on Fallbarrow Park and the car when parked need never be moved until the end of your stay, as Windermere attractions are on the door step. We have just returned from our second stay this year at this beautiful lodge. We have stayed at many other lodges but this one has to be the most comfortable. The lodge is always clean and tidy, with good quality fixtures and fittings. The main thing is that all the beds are comfortable, everything works in the kitchen, all the furniture is of a high quality and the location is great. Everything is to a very high standard and I would have no hesitation in recommending this lodge for a great holiday. Unfortunately, due to the terrible weather we were stuck in the lodge for nearly three days, this could have been a problem in the last lodge we stayed in but it just goes to show how great this lodge is that 2 Adults, a teenager and a dog were happy to be stuck indoors together!! Our stay at acorn bank was great. Very clean and well equipped lodge. Hot tub was fantastic, especially after a long walk. Perfect 5 days away
We wish we could have stayed longer. The park is in a perfect location and the lodge was clean and comfortable. As a holiday with our dog we hardly used our car only on one occasion for a day out to keswick however lots of nice walks are close by being on the lake. Lovely lodge with hot tub
This was our second stay at Acorn Bank this year. Everything was as we remembered; the lodge was clean, tidy and well maintained along with some new bedding and towels. The lodge is in a great location with both Bowness and Windermere Village being accessible on foot, we didn't use the car all weekend. I would definitely recommend the lodge and we shall revisit. The hot tub is lovely to relax in after a day out. The only downside of this visit was that the touring pitches adjacent to the lodge were currently being made into hard standing pitches for lodges and the children's playground was out of action. What a lovely break
We had a lovely stay at Acorn bank lodge. The lodge itself was spotless and had everything you needed for a self catering break. You are aloud to take dogs to this lodge, we didn't but you wouldn't know any one did it was that clean. This was the only lodge on the park with a hot tub. It was excellent and a fantastic way to relax after nice day out. There was building work going on opposite the lodge that we were told about before we went but this did not spoil our break and didn't even know they were there, the work men we seen were always polite and let on. The location was excelent with just a small walk into town and the bus stop. We went to a few of the local pubs and the food and drinks were very good. The only negative I could give and it would be picking is that the lodge had a lot of steps to get in. It didn't bother us but for an older couple it could be a problem. Family weekend
We had a lovely family weekend away in lovely accommodation in the perfect position. The only minor drawback was the fact that we had stipulated children with travel cot etc, but the amount of stairs to the lodge were a bit of a nightmare with a pram especially in the dark. We thoroughly enjoyed the Log Cabin especially the Hot Tub!! It was unfortunate about the Building Site but with going out daily it was not too much of an inconvenience. Little oasis in perfect location

Lovely place and location
Was a very pleasant stay, very clean and quiet private because the lodge is set back. The hot tube was amazing after a long day out walking. Fantastic stay - will be back!
We totally loved our stay at Acorn Bank last week. The location is one that we have wanted to try for a number of years and we weren't disappointed. Best was that we could walk down to the lake in a minute, and walk into Bowness to wander round. We didn't use the car all weekend! We even went on a couple of lovely walks, one included the car ferry across Windermere which we didn't know existed! The lodge itself was elevated really well (shallow stairs meant you had to concentrate when walking up the stairs, but you soon got used to them!) so you didn't feel overlooked whatsoever, and the views were lovely. The hot tub was the deal clincher for the booking and we weren't disappointed as it was the perfect end to each day with tired feet from all that walking! (the Hot Tub wasn't working when we got there, but we worked it out, and called a very helpful man whose number we got from the lodges manual and even though he didn't look after that lodge any longer he was happy to talk us through it on a Friday evening - great service!). When we arrived it was so nice to have a VERY clean lodge waiting for us, and an extra special touch was the bottle or Prosecco waiting ready with a couple of wine glasses out - thank you! The lodge was immaculate and very well looked after - couldn't fault the cleanliness, and I am picky! Loved it - thank you so much for a fantastic break! Relaxing Holiday
This is a lovely lodge perfect position site is good except for the very small dog walking run. Lodge is close enough to Bowness to walk to the boats, pubs or other lovely walks, dogs welcome in most pubs The lodge and hot tub were fantastic quiet spot up above the lodges around us so nice and private, hot tub is lovely after a walk relaxing with a drink from the bottle of wine that was here to greet us nice touch. Fabulous break in the Lakes
Spent a fabulous week up in the Lakes and this lodge was perfect for us the location is excellent it meant that we didn`t have to drive everywhere. The lodge is a perfect place to come back to after a long day out and being able to relax and unwind it the hot tub made our break even better. Another Great Holiday With Lake District Holiday Lodges
This was our first time to Fallbarrow Park (usually stay at limefitt), and it was a first class holiday. Excellent, friendly, & helpful staff. Nice pub and play ground on site. Acorn Bank is a very nice and well equipped lodge in a superb location with its own parking. This lodge is only a few minutes walk into Bowness On Windermere. Nice to be able to leave the car behind and have a few drinks!! The hot tub is great, very relaxing even with my 6 year old daughter getting so excited. The lodge itself is vey comfortable and clean. Very well equipped all you could want really. The bottle of wine was a nice surprise, didn't expect that! Overall we all had a great time. We have now re-booked this lodge for next January. Acorn Bank is in a great location with all amenities close to hand
This is the second time we have stayed at Acorn Bank and it did not disappoint. It is home from home, everything you need is in the lodge. The location is excellent, shops, pubs and the lake are within a 5 minute walk. The hot tub was in use every day and was very welcome after a day of walking. There are some beautiful places to visit and the scenery is stunning. The bottle of wine was a lovely surprise when we arrived. We will definitely be back again in the future. We spent a lovely long weekend at Acorn Lodge, Fallbarrow. Having used the same lodge last year we had no hesitation in booking the same again. Hot tub was great and we were very close to the Lake. We had a lovely time at Acorn Bank Lodge a very well presented property in a lovely elevated position , which our dog Ellie loved as it gave an ideal vantage point for people watching . Great facilities which included a great hot tub , a lovely location within walking distance of shops , bars , and restaurants . Ferry and boat terminal less than ten minutes walk , making day trips , cycling and walking within easy reach enabling us to leave the car behind . Would love to return to this beautiful lodge . Rainy stay in August 18
We had a 7 night stay in Acorn lodge. Unfortunate with the weather as despite the fact we had a record summer it rained all 7 days we were there!!! That said we still had a lovely holiday and the location of the lodge was perfect. The clubhouse was handy for live sport and keeping the kids entertained and having lake access from the park was great. The lodge was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The hot tub was HOT and very relaxing - which made up for the weather! The only down side was that we had a leak which went through to the inside of our wardrobe and wet some of our clothes. At first we weren't sure that it was just water as there were some tubs full of liquid on top of the wardrobes, After a couple of days the wet patches were still on out clothes and had not dried at all and so we thought they may have been stained but after getting home the patches have washed out so all is good. Second stay at Acorn Bank
Second time at this great lodge on a fantastic park. We had a great week here. Weather was good lodge was clean and comfortable. Hot tub was fabulous after a day out, nice to just sit and relax. As usual we were greeted by helpful and friendly staff. This lodge is one of our favourite's even though it is getting a little tired now. Bathroom floor and sealant needs some attention, but saying that we would still recommend this lodge. Will be booking with Lake District Holidays for our fourth time very soon. Husbands 60th
The lodge was very clean . Everything we needed . The hot tub was great . The bottle of wine was a nice touch . We have stayed at fallbarrowpark several times the location is great we don't use the car once we have arrived . Pity the pub on site was closed but this was due to referbishment . Excellent lodge
Second year staying in this excellent lodge. Very clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Hot tub very relaxing. Great location, did not need to use the car. The site itself is very well looked after. Great get away
This was the first time we have stayed here, and came to the park after a recommendation. We chose the particular lodge as it is elevated and has a hot tub. The location is good, near the reception and bar area, but still quiet and relaxing. It is evident this is a good quality lodge, but is in need of some tidy up in the bathroom and ensuite- nothing off putting, just a little tlc required. Our stay
We had a lovely stay it was clean comfortable, close to bowness centre, the park is well kept clean and tidy short walk and your at the lake. Can't wait to return. Holiday at Acorn Bank Lodge
Had a wonderful stay at Acorn Bank Lodge once again , the lodge is beautiful and comfortable and has everything you would need for an excellent holiday. The lodge is in a great elevated position on the site and the hot tub is an added bonus , and the welcome bottle of wine was a nice gesture. Hope to see you next year . Acorn bank Lodge
On arrival at the lodge my first impression was it had a lot of stairs and the decking was in a very poor state. The double entrance door was filthy at the bottom and the decking was disgustingly filthy. The hot tub was great but the trees surrounding it desperately need cutting back on a few occasions big branches did fall onto us which was very dangerous considering we had a 3 month old baby and a small dog with us. What did you enjoy most about your stay? We enjoyed the hot tub but the temperature button does not work so it was very hot. Silver wedding break
Had a fantastic 4 night stay for our silver wedding anniversary. Lodge was lovely. Location less than 5 min walk from Bowness. Everything you need in the lodge even dishwasher tablets, tea towels.There was even tea and coffee. Hot tub was amazing. Will definitely book this lodge again. Thanks for the complementary wine. Lovely stay at fallbarrow park.
Loved the location of the park. The lodge was clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable. Hot tub was great after a long walk with the dog. Only a couple of minutes walk to Bowness. Lots of choice for eating out( most places dog friendly). We will be definitely coming back soon. Thank you to the owners for letting us stay in your beautiful lodge and for the bottle of wine. Brilliant lodge in a perfect location
Stayed for 3 nights and had an amazing time. The lodge is so clean and very welcoming. Also he staff around the park were great. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Great location
Bathrooms need some TLC. So does elements of main bedroom. Evidence of damp. Could do with tongs in kitchen. Plus glasses and cutlery were dirty. Dirty mark on sofa and dirty towel hanging on door in second bedroom. So cleaners need to pay more attention. Other than that lodge was fine. Acorn bank lodge
We spent 3 nights at the lodge at the beginning of January. The park itself is in a perfect location only minutes away from bowness. The lodge itself is well maintained, has all the necessities needed for cooking etc and keeping the lodge clean. The washing machine was an added bonus that isn't usually found in these types of lodge but with 2 young children on a rainy weekend was essential! The bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely touch. The location if the lodge on the park is good, not too far from the entrance and high up so you can enjoy the hot tub without being overlooked. The umbrella covering the hot tub was a well thought out added extra as it meant we could enjoy it despite the rain. The television is listed as a smart tv but we couldn't get the smart features to work as it wasnt connected to the internet but it had freeview so we could use that instead. Fantastic lodge with hot tub
Do not think you will find better value lodge on the park, excellent lodge with fantastic hot tub. Short distance to pub/restaurant and close to park exit. Very quiet spot though and private. Great lodge, great location but could be cleaner
The lodge is well kitted out and in a great location with everything you need. It cannot be faulted in this respect. HOWEVER, the booking time sated I could not arrive until 4pm and it ended up 4:30 by the time we got to the lodge and gain access. Half the day is wasted so by time you unpack etc its a wasted day. The reasons stated were for "deep cleaning" because of coronavirus. I can categorically say that this lodge was not deep cleaned. It did not smell like it had and marks on cups, bedding etc would also suggest it had not. Now I am not normally bothered about things like marks on cups and stuff like that because it has to be lived in and cleaners cannot make everything perfect so its totally fine and acceptable. My grievance is because I effectively lose half a day because I am told it has to be super cleaned because of contamination risks only to find I've been told porky pies (lies) because this was not the case. I also had to request cleaning items as nothing was there like mops, disinfectant, bin bags, standard things essentially. So essentially I would say this: If you expect guests to check in late and leave early then you should really do what you say and deep clean the lodge. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Everything was great with this break away. Perfect location on the site not overlooked at all with lovely hot tub too. Excellent decked area to lodge and with all home comforts inside. Beautiful lodge
We had a wonderful time at fallbarrow park, we stay at fallbarrow on a regular basis, but we have not stayed at Acorn Bank Lodge before, we often use to walk past the lodge and comment how nice it is. On arrival we noticed how clean and covid safe the lodge was. Very spacious, modern and plenty of storage room, it's clear the lodge is well looked after. The lodge is dog friendly but no trace of any previous dogs staying their. There was a lovely decking area which is on 2 levels, table, chairs and hot tub on top level, so it was very private. The hot tub was a very welcome addition, and very relaxing. We took our 2 small dogs with us and they loved it, decking area was gated and safe, so our dogs couldn't get out. I just want to say thank you for letting us stay at the lodge and we can't wait to return, also what a lovely gesture leaving us a bottle of wine on arrival. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Superb stay at Acorn lodge
Had a fantastic holiday at Acorn lodge. Lodge was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Perfect place for exploring lakes and loved being right beside Windermere. Hot tub was luxurious and hot and ready at all times!!!!! Also was perfect for our dog with wonderful walks all around. Longing to return some day. What did you enjoy most about your stay? A lucky lockdown Honeymoon!
We arrived at Fallbarrow the day after our wedding as we were staying for a week for 9ur honeymoon. It was our first stay at Fallbarrow and was slightly tarred by Boris's lockdown announcements! However the staff at the front desk were more than helpful with all our queries. The lodge was definitely a "Top End" affair with all the bells and whistles, a lovely electric fireplace, skylights and a piping hot hot tub that was nice and secluded due to the elevated decking. Fabulous Fallbarrow
This was our 2nd visit to Fallbarrow after many stays at White Cross Bay, this trip was a very welcome break in these challenging times we are currently living in, it was great just to get a few days away after having 5 trips cancelled on us including far away trips like New York and once again Fallbarrow did not disappoint, this was the first time staying in Acorn Bank lodge and we where so happy that we rebooked within days of this stay, great location (just remember the steps to the lodge, take a torch in the dark) very nice lodge that had everything we could of asked for. Acorn Bank has a significant number of concrete and wooden steps to reach the lodge, which may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The lodge is then all on the same ground floor level.
A travel cot and high chair are provided within the lodge. Please bring your own bedding for use with the travel cot, which will only fit in the master bedroom only.
There is a Good Housekeeping Bond of £100 for this property.
Please note, charging of electric vehicles is not permitted in this lodge. The nearest charging point can be found at Booths Supermarket in Windermere.
Fallbarrrow Park management lock the entrance gates at midnight. If you are arriving after midnight, please call the night warden.
Park Rules and Operations – Fallbarrow
All holiday parks are owned and managed by a separate company to ourselves. Lake District Lodge Holidays has no association with the owners of these parks or responsibility for the provision of services they offer. At certain times of year, there maybe a reduction in those services, which is outside of our control.
Commercial vehicles, caravans, camper vans, Hen or Stag parties are not permitted onsite. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and are not be left alone in the lodges at any point during your stay.
You will be staying on an operational holiday park, which means work may be undertaken from time to time by the park owners during your stay. Although Lake District Lodge Holidays will always try to inform guests in advance if something may impact on a stay and if we have prior knowledge. We cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for park operations of which are outside of our control and which we have no knowledge of.
Any issues relating to a stay at a privately owned lodge should be reported back through Lake District Lodge Holidays as the park are not responsible for managing the lodge or booking for private sublet guests during their stay.
Hot Tubs
For the comfort of other holidays guests we request that noise is kept to a minimum. Usage of the hot tub is between 10am and 10pm only. If you are found to breach these timings then you may be asked to vacate the park with no call for a refund.
All hot tubs are maintained to strict industry standards and HSE guidelines by separate qualified independent contractors on behalf of the property owners. This includes changing the water between guest stays and checking the water condition on a regular basis.
Whilst every effort is made to have a hot tub ready for immediate use by the arrival time stated, this may not always be possible. In such cases the hot tub will usually be ready to use later that day unless otherwise advised. In such cases no compensation or refund is payable unless the hot tub is faulty.
Information about using a hot tub safely is provided at all lodges with a hot tub and on a prominent notice near the tub. All hot tub users should wear an appropriate bathing suit. Usage of a hot tub is at a guests own risk and Lake District Lodge Holidays accepts no liability for anything which may happen to a guest as a direct result of using a hot tub.
Complimentary WiFi is provided by the park and subject to fair usage guidelines. Quality and reliability of connection will vary based on the number of people using it, prevailing weather conditions and therefore may be limited or slower than you are used to. WiFi is for personal use only and is not intended for high data usage, gaming and/or use for business purposes, This is only suitable for page browsing and sending emails. Bookings cannot be accepted if they are solely reliant on the provision of uninterrupted and unlimited Wi-Fi, We are not held responsible or liable for the WiFi on the park. If you encounter any issues with the WiFi, please contact Fallbarrow Park reception.
Please note that Fallbarrow Park does not allow boats to be stored next lodges, and boats are not allowed on Park.
