“Had a lovely week in this lodge, just a few minor issues.”
You cannot drive to the lodge on arrival as there is a barrier, upon enquiring at the reception you are not given a map but told to take a photo of it which is stuck to the window and then you go to the lodge to collect the lodge key which has a fob on it which opens the barrier - so you go back to the reception area to collect your car and drive back, it isn't very far to the Sherwood area just a 5 minute walk. Incidentally unlike most other lodges on the park no 4 Sherwood has no sign on it which confused us at the start but if you find no. 3 follow the bend to the left and it's the green lodge there! The lodge has parking for 2 cars next to it and the decking is good with furniture so you can sit out and it is secure if you have your dog with you. Whilst we were there part of the decking on the front was replaced with glass panels which look nicer. Inside the fixtures and fittings all look new, there is a washing machine and a dishwasher and the bathroom & ensuite are a good size. The kitchen has a tall fridge/freezer and a big pantry which was really useful for storing food, however there was limited utensils, dishes etc so may be difficult if you are trying to cook for 6 people & there is also only 4 chairs at the table! The 2 bedrooms at the rear of the lodge have doors that do not shut properly as they are not fitted correctly. At the time of booking & I have double checked the listing before I wrote this, the information refers to taking advantage & having access to onsite facilities including the pool gym etc , however bookings through Sykes do not include passes which you have to purchase separately which are very expensive in my opinion, for 2 adults over 16 it costs £17 for a day pass, £45 for 3 days and £95 for a week, for a family of 2 adults & 2 kids it is £20/£56/£120 which I think is very expensive - but the listing should make it clear this is at an additional charge. We had drinks sat outside the restaurant but didn't dine there, if you have a dog there is a lovely pub called the Canal Turn in Carnforth but I would recommend you book first if you wish to sit inside although there are plenty of tables outside. Nearby are a Tesco/Booths & Aldi and the site is not far from Morecambe Bay or the Lake district. Nice quiet park even though it was the main summer holidays, would visit again though would choose a different lodge.
