Location fabulous. We arrived at night storm claudia in full force ,struggled to find property on site due to no lighting ,could have easily driven into lake. Location fabulous. We arrived at night storm claudia in full force ,struggled to find property on site due to no lighting ,could have easily driven into lake. Could do with lit up numbers for each lodge maybe some reflectors on some low level log effect barriers to assist on gravel roads. Need emergency contact info in lodge no numbers in folder and instructions on cooker operation etc we had to google instructions. We had power cut at night in the dark luckily someone else in next lodge able to assist. Microwave stopped working, one of gas rings not working ,hall door couldnt close as handle wouldnt open . Glass on patio windows had condensation permanently so views to lake little obscured maybe seal issue . Giving the minor issues we had it didnt spoil our stay at all we were well rested and enjoyed the peace and relaxation so would stay again. Bring a good torch as you will need one.

About the location

GARSTANG

Preston 11.4 miles; Lancaster 10.3 miles; Blackpool 15.1 miles; Morecambe 17.3 miles.

Garstang is a small town within the Wyre Borough of Lancashire, famous for declaring itself the world's first Fairtrade town. Known locally for its tasty home-grown produce, this small town offers a warm welcome and a wealth of specialist and individual shops where you can pick up a number of treats; don't miss the local cheesemongers for a wedge of fine Lancashire cheese! The street market is held every Thursday, another exciting shopping treat. Running right through the centre of the town is the peaceful Lancaster Canal, where you can watch the passing canal boats cruise by and enjoy the abundance of wildlife it supports. The nearby Millennium Green, an area situated on the western bank of the River Wyre, has actually been designated for wildlife conservation and events in the community. Admire the views over the Bowland Hills before enjoying a visit to the High Street, where you will find plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants in which you can enjoy the local hospitality, or visit the Braedens Pony Trekking Centre, which make for great family days out. The surrounding countryside provides great walking opportunities, whilst the RSPB nature reserves at Leighton Moss and Morecambe Bay are well worth a visit. The Trough of Bowland is nearby, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, while the many varied delights of Blackpool and Morecambe, as well as the towns of Lancaster, Kirkby Lonsdale, Kendal and Windermere and the stunning Lake District National Park are all within easy reach, making this a great destination for all the family.
