Lovely location.
Note although in the Parkdean park - you are not able to use the facilities as this is not a Parkdean booking this could have been made clearer.
The lodge is in a good location for exploring the Lake District.
General cleanliness was quite good and the bedding and towels provided were clean and fresh. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. However, the lodge itself is tired and would benefit from investment to bring it up to date and make it more appealing. We discovered that the doors and windows were difficult to open/close/lock/unlock, the decking is rotten and spongy to walk on in places. The exterior needs a general tidy up. The railings are dirty and need treating or painting. Attempts to jet wash the deck had left the walls very dirty. Cobwebs cover most of the eaves. The external lights did not work. We chose not to sit outside as it was not a particularly pleasant place to sit. On arrival, there was a bucket left in the bathroom which was half full of detergent or something similar with floor mop (not ideal is it was discovered first by a child or dog)! The vacuum cleaner is kept in the wardrobe (where you are supposed to keep clothes!) The boiler appeared to have a leak which made a corner of the bathroom floor wet. Most of the cutlery was left quite dirty, along with the cooking utensils and the frying pans which were really not fit to cook on. The racks in the oven were ill fitting and did not support the baking tray very well (one did fall when cooking breakfast one morning). The oven itself needs a good clean as it’s covered in grease and grime. The gas hob was difficult to work as all of the dials were worn meaning it was not possible to know which position they were in and which corresponding ring they were for. The 4G WiFi hub that was provided did not work from the outset. We followed instructions left and made numerous attempts to reboot the hub without any success. The Parkdean WiFi was not much better. The Parkdean site was also disappointing with the pool being closed 3 days out of the 4 we were there. The lack of attention to detail is quite evident with an untidy beer garden area that was talked about amongst other guests we spoke to. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing stay for us.
Lovely lodge in an amazing location.
Well cleaned and amazing facilities. Will definetly be booking again.
