The Burrow

My husband, 16 year old grandson and little shitzhue really felt at home.

It was dog friendly so our furry family members were welcome, yet there was no nasty surprises on site that it was a dog friendly. Everyone was super considerate regarding cleanliness and removal of dog waste. First impression of the site and lodge was wow! The lodge had everything we needed plus simple extras that added to the overall positive impression. The site itself was well maintained and beautifully kept. It was a peaceful beautiful location. We had a relaxing stay and would definitely come back .

Excellent time at the Burrows.

With two dogs, the Burrows chalet location and immediate surroundings, made it ideal for walking our dogs in early morning and evening. The owner also allowed us to use her fenced in area of the grounds to let our dogs off-lead, tiring them out before we started the day. Facilities and equipment were first-class and modern - couldn't fault the accommodation at all. Definitely recommend and would stay here again - no question!!

We had a lovely stay at the cottage - it was very peaceful and quiet, which made it the perfect place to relax and switch off.

The cottage itself was very clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed during our stay. It felt cosy and comfortable throughout. The only thing to note is the check-in and check-out times, with check-in at 4pm and check-out at 10am, which felt a bit limited. Aside from that, everything was great and we would definitely recommend it to others.

We had a wonderful break staying in The Burrow.

The lodge was immaculate and well thought out. We felt at home very quickly. The only issue we had was arriving in the dark meant we could not see any signs for Wateredge Mill. The directions got us to the clock tower business centre, but then it became tricky to know which way to go. More specific directions or signs that are lit up would be very helpful to get to the lodges. But overall, a lovely place to stay for exploring the Lake District.

The lodge was immaculate and very comfortable in such peaceful surroundings. Excellent location for access to the Lakes and other attractions. We were so impressed we have already booked to return at New Year. A Perfect Stay

The property was extremely clean, well equipped and with a lovely welcome pack thank you.

We had a great stay but would have loved a view of the river from our property rather than looking out on an area of bushes and brush, if this was cleared what an amazing river view you would have. Just my personal opinion.

We have stayed in various properties in the Lake District and this is the best that we have stayed in.

The location of the lodge was so quiet and peaceful but with lots to do around the area. The Welcome Pack provided by the owners on our arrival was very much appreciated. We will definitely be doing a return visit in the future.

Fantastic location, so quiet and beautiful outlook.

The lodge has everything you need and is comfortable, spacious, and well laid out. We enjoyed a bbq and breakfast on the patio. It was so relaxing and we will definitely be back. The local pub, the Anglers Arms, is a must for Sunday lunch but you are better to book. Food is served at lunch and in the evening and it is walkable from the lodge. Great holiday.

Lovely lodge in nice quiet location.

Lodge was spotless, equipped with everything you need from cooking utensils to toiletries in shower. We did some great walks, good location to explore surrounding areas. Nice little enclosed veranda with loungers to sit out if weather is nice and good for our 2 dogs. Nice touch with the little welcome pack too.

Excellent property.

Well maintained and comfortable. Situated in a quiet and picturesque old gunpowder mill. Relaxing stay.

The cabin was immaculate, clean and really cosy in the cold, wet weather. I have never had such comfy bedding anywhere - five star sleeping experience! Also very much appreciated were the welcome treats both for us and our pup. We will definitely be back.

Fabulous well appointed, comfortable & clean lodge in wonderful location.

Lots of information provided & great walks direct from lodge, although an OS map would have been handy. Ulverston not far for food shop. Easy access to south lakes & coast. Just wish we had more time to enjoy.

What a great find!

A lovely, comfortable and extremely clean lodge with all the space and equipment needed to ensure a wonderful stay in the Lakes. We would definitely recommend and will book to stay again. The outside space is lovely and it’s a good location for visiting other parts of the Lake District for exploring & hiking. 2 small points for us were the bed was slightly too firm (but you can’t please everyone on this) and the heating seemed to be restricted (but we had blankets for the colder nights). Great lodge, very spacious in all areas, everything you need in the kitchen, fridge freezer was a bonus as its self catering, great touch having a dishwasher and washing machine, if I had a criticism it would be the outdoor furniture, the seating is ok but nothing you can relax on.

The Burrow is a superb lodge and a great base for exploring The Lake District.

The lodge itself is in excellent condition, with lovely ensuite shower rooms in both bedrooms with great hot showers and comfy furniture throughout. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and pans etc and has everything you need for a great holiday. The location is lovely and peaceful and is a good base for exploring the southern part of The Lakes. We would highly recommend this lodge if you are planning a holiday in The Lakes!

Excellent accommodation.

Nothing to fault.

I never feel one really learns how improvements can be made if always awarded 5 stars, but it would be very unfair of me not to do so.

What you have created at Wateredge Mill is something special, so well done for that. The detail and comfort of these lodges is excellent. Location, for us, was spot on, being just on the edge of the general busyness of the central lakes, yet everywhere within a short car journey. It was lovely to come back to the tranquility of the lodge each day. We spent the month of June here and it was everything we wanted, and needed. Thank you.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay, 100% would visit again.

This is an exceptionally beautiful lodge on the southern fringes on the National Park.

Nestled only a few metres away from the gentle waters of the River Leven, its tranquil setting is a dream for anyone looking for a truly peaceful break. The interior of the lodge is outstanding. No expense has been spared to make it feel luxurious. Sarah, the owner, is a phenomenal host, friendly, welcoming and willing to do anything to make your stay memorable. With walks on your doorstep and the beauty of Hawkshead and Coniston only a short drive away, you are situated in an idyllic location. In every way this is a five star vacation home.

The only downside for us was that we have had to buy ourselves a new bed when we got home after experiencing the pleasure of your Superking hotel lush bed :D

The accommodation is in a peaceful setting and convenient location.

Equipped to very standard with a lot of attention to detail. The photos on the site gave us an insight as to what to expect. But the reality was above and beyond !! Loved the welcome gifts and our dog was most impressed with her treats !! We will certainly visit again.

If you want somewhere quiet & peaceful to stay then I would definitely recommend the Burrow & the other lodges on site. The word "lodge" massively undersells these beautiful & immaculately clean homes from home. Thanks for a fantastic break!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Burrow lodge and the grounds at Wateredge Mill are perfect for dogs and people wanting to completely relax in the peaceful surroundings The lodges are equipped to the highest standard with dishwasher/washer and en-suite bedrooms .
