Located in a beautiful area of the lakes. Good spot to see many parks of the National Park. The lodge was cosy and provided everything we needed during our stay. The welcome tray was greatly appreciated and our dog enjoyed her treats as well. We enjoyed it so much we have booked again for next year.

“After a slight blip with the heating, which was rectified very quickly, and the holiday staff could not have been more helpful, the lodge was exactly as we imagined.”

Very comfortable for the two of us and the dog (who's called Barney by the way), plenty to do in the near vicinity and if you like a real ale, you must visit the Old School Brewery in nearby Warton. The welcome pack was amazing which included treats and toys for Barney. Can thoroughly recommend Barney's Retreat

Could do with extra cups and oven trays. Very spacious well laid out would definitely recommend this lodge. Only down side very dark as trees along one side maybe different in the summer. Welcome pack lovely.

“We have just stayed for a long weekend and I couldn’t believe how amazing it was.”

The lodge is so modern, very clean, everything you need was there. So accommodating for our dog we brought along and even left a lovely gift hamper for us and our Dog too! It’s on an amazing setting and so much around to do. The owner kept in contact ensuring we settled in well and was so easy to communicate with. We would 100% stay here again it was perfect. So happy we booked here and would highly recommend to anyone! Thank you for the best stay and can’t wait to return!

“Arrival process difficult for older or anyone with mobility issues ,If this had been clear originally I wouldn’t have booked.”

Sofas very uncomfortable,and only 4mugs provided .The lodge backed very closely to trees and once windows were open insects and spiders were a problem.The inside windows needed a thorough clean.on plus side welcome pack was good and living area spacious.

. first class accommodation, lots of lovely places to visit close by. Everything you could possibly need for a restful break away from it all. Also a very thoughtful and generous welcome pack. Supermarkets Tesco Booths and Aldi within a10 minute drive. Our little dog was well catered for, this is a short woodland walk for that early and late exersize break. Pleasant outside space to relax with a book or to watch the wildlife. We look forward to our next visit. X

“Accommodation spotlessly clean & furniture comfortable including the beds.”

Enjoyed the peacefulness of the place & think the lodge is placed in an excellent position as not surrounded by other lodges. Would def stay again & highly recommend to others. Small issue was that the power tripped when I put the kettle & toaster on at the same time. Despite doing the usual to sort the tripped power in the power box located in the bedroom, nothing happened. A maintenance person came to the lodge & turned some switches in a power box located outside the lodge & power was restored. We were advised that the kettle’s wattage was too high & not to put the kettle & toaster on at the same time. The owner advised that this would be rectified with the purchase of a lower wattage kettle for future holiday makers. The problem was sorted within 45 mins, however being forgetful I did have to go outside to sort the tripped power on a few other occasions so thought I better put this on here to help others that might find themselves in a similar situation.

The welcome pack was amazing with so many treats. Our Daschy loved the doggy treats. The only small issue we had was that no one told us that someone was going to be fixing the bathroom radiator. So you can imagine our surprise when we got back. We will be back and recommending it to our family and friends.

“The property was beautiful, clean, comfortable and well equipped.”

It is ideally situated on the site too with space for 2 cars and the layout of the lodge is brilliant in that you can access the main bathroom from the second bedroom. The owners left a very generous welcome pack with lots of treats for our dog too which was great too and very useful.

“This property was exceptional, it was clean, comfortable and very well equipped with items of the best quality.”

We take a few essentials which are usually missing, but Barneys had everything and more. Although we arrived when it turned into the coldest week of the year the lodge was warm and welcoming. Natasha and Helen put the heating on for our arrival and not only left the best welcome pack we have ever had which even included things for the dog, but had put a Christmas tree up. These two ladies really do think of everything and do deserve to do well. There are board games and books and the wifi is excellent. Barneys is situated well and there are such beautiful places both near and far to it and it is suitable for all ages. We will definitely be booking again. We have stayed in 3 lodges this year and for us this was by far the best.

It’s like home from home. Very comfortable beds and nice idea with the dressing gowns and the welcome tray was much appreciated. The owners have gone that step further and you really feel comfortable. I hope other guests appreciate the property and look after it. CARNFORTH

Capernwray 2.4 miles; Lake District 20 miles

Located just off the M6 and 20 miles south of the scenic Lake District, Carnforth is the sort of place that everyone has heard of, and many desire to discover this hidden gem. Situated at the north end of Morecambe Bay, north of the historic town of Lancaster, 15 miles from the winding lanes of the Yorkshire Dales and a hop and a skip from the Lake District, it is close to absolutely everywhere! Other local attractions include Greenlands Farm Village for crafts, local produce, a play area, café and a garden centre. The lovely area just north of Carnforth has tidal sands bordering the huge expanse of Morecambe Bay. It offers plenty of pleasant walks and opportunity to see local birds and wildlife in this fabulous area of Lancashire. Don't forget to visit the lovely old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
