“Needs a good clean outside windows dirty decking full of cobwebs inside needs things sorting,tap dripping, boiler not giving hot water light bulb not working.”

Did get caretaker in to sort tap and boiler but still no hot water in bathroom so couldn’t use and also there’s a bowl under sink to catch water leaks so they already know there’s a problem. Lots of black bits on bed and bath looked like a load of dead ants when we arrived. Chairs and tables outside needed good clean before use. Not the best would not recommend.

“FIRST OF ALL THE PROPERTY WAS OF A POOR APPEARANCE OF COB WEBS AND LEAVES AROUND THE DOOR ON ENTERING WAS COLD NO HEATING NO T V A ND A DRIPPING TAP FURTHER SINK IN BATHROOM NOT WORKING WE CALLED MAINTANCE GUY WHO CAME SORTED T V AND HEATING HOUSE WAS FILTHY COULD NOT USE OVEN OR MICRO WAVE NOTHING TO CLEAN IT WITH NO BROOM TO BRUSH FLOOR OR HOOVER .”

“The property furnishings were dated and although the property was listed as pet friendly there was no gate to prevent our dog going off the decking.”

On arrival there was no heating or hot water as the boiler pressure was too low. This was sorted by the site caretaker within half an hour of being reported. He did tell us that the boiler was known to be faulty but the owners plumber had gone on holiday leaving the part required on his van. The kitchen tap had a constant drip which although we were told the caretaker would come back to fix over the weekend, we never saw him again. The steps down from the property were covered in wet leaves making them quite treacherous. Maybe if there had been a broom at the property we could have kept the steps clear. Due to all of the above we ended up cutting our holiday short by 4 days.

“The property was very dated, and many of the fittings were broken or not working correctly, such as curtains falling from windows, a coffee table with a glass top not fixed to the stand, the oven fan making a load noise, and a constant dripping tap in the kitchen.”

The bathroom had a terrible smell, so we did not use it, and there was no gate on the decking, so it was not secure for the dogs. The sofas in the front room were positioned so that it was impossible to see the TV, and the level of cleanliness was poor. Lots of cobwebs inside and out, and the fact that the decking had not been swept made it impossible not to drag it in with you. On the first day of our stay, we arrived back to meet a plumber who had been working in the property without our knowledge. We actually left a day early and were called twice to ask where we had left the keys, which we had placed back into the key store. The pillows and quilt cover were both nice.

Sink in bathroom jammed shut Tap in lounge continuously dripping Oven wouldn’t work light going out/ fan extremely noisy Small glass table top not secured No instructions for TV/ Oven Remote for fire found on second day behind a curtain this should have been in a prominent location All these minor issues that should have been sorted the lodge itself is very lovely in a great location

“I have already emailed Sykes on our return yesterday.”

We were very disappointed with the outside appearance of the lodge,very shabby and neglected,plants growing out of the guttering. The lodge smelt musty damp and affected my asthma quite badly.None of the ceiling lights or lamps on the lounge area worked. The oven wouldn’t heat up,no manual for the oven but it’s quite old. The bathroom washbasin plug release devices were very hard to operate. We had no instructions how to raise the barrier on arrival. We didn’t know that we had to walk across to the lodge,open the key box and on that would be the fob to open the barrier. Another lodge person came to help us and said that it happened regularly on that particular lodge. The cleaners had done a good job, the beds were comfy nice towels,but a general feel of it being very outdated and uncared for.
