“No baking trays or roasting trays to enable to use in the oven so couldn't cook a meal on the first night.”
We went and purchased some the following day.Tried to contact owner via phone & text never received a response so had to contact Sykes, they reported owner was in Canada and he admitted items had been going missing. Missing furniture (settee) from decking and the metal furniture was old and rusty. Decking was filthy, had to clean this.Stains on carpet throughout accommodation. Magazines left were well over a year old and torn. A dead flower in a glass was left on kitchen window sill. Vet prescribed medication dated 31.12.21 left under kitchen sink. Blind in the lounge window broken and could not open it.Shower in the en-suite, door was loose and wouldn't shut fully, someone came to repair but this wasn't resolved because as soon as you went to close the door it came off the runner again, extractor fan didn't work in this bathroom either. The welcome pack had a loaf of bread, this was out of date and when opened it, it was mouldy. No toilet roll was left, just one roll would have been thoughtful, no bath mat so had to use a towl in the bath to ensure we didn't slip. .Majority of the cooking utensils needed to be washed along with the old/very used 3 pans as all were sticky/tacky. There were over 14 plastic bowls but nothing to enable you to cook a meal in the oven. We were very disappointed and shocked at the lack of cleaning/cleanliness, items to enable you to self cater, missing decking furniture, old magazines, dead flowers, vet medication, why has the accommodation not been cleaned fully and an inventory completed to ensure our holiday there was a good experience. This holiday was supposed to be a relaxing stay before my husband has a major operation, unfortunately this was not achieved as we paid good money to the owner for a substandard stay in an accommodation which isn't what it states it is. We hope that he has resolved these issues for the next people who stay there as it could be lovely and the setting on Bowland Fell is lovely. I have emailed Sykes our complaints and still waiting for a response.
