I feel the lodge was just very tired looking.

It certainly needed touching up with paint, and a really thorough clean is needed. There are cobwebs everywhere, lots of dog hairs, and a damp smell. The lodge also lacks a smart-tv which is just unusual nowadays, there is no WiFi offered other than the free Parkdean WiFi which was useless. The plug was broken in the bathroom so we tried for ages to empty the bath, and the flush doesn’t work well in the main bathroom either. It was a comfortable stay sleeping wise, the beds are fantastic. We wouldn’t stay again just due to the lack of cleanliness.

The lodge was clean and comfortable but we were disappointed with the details.

No hand soap was provided at all, insufficient toilet roll and washing up liquid. The facilities in the wider park were insufficient for peak season - big queues for the swimming pool, activities oriented towards very young children but activities like discocise cut out completely during summer holidays. No evening swimming at all. £15pp for a weeks pool pass - not clear in the listing. Location overall is pretty ok. There's a bus service to Windermere and Ambleside. But traffic northbound is difficult in peak season. Brockhole is walkable and there a boat service around the lake which is good. For the money, however, we weren't that impressed. Little details would make a big difference here. If you can't use the toilets hygienically after a long journey, it's a bit disappointing. Sykes support was pretty disappointing also, I think they struggled to get a response from the owners regarding booking activities.
