Rydal Lodge

We stayed in this lodge on 7th August 2023.

On arrival I was very disappointed at the outside of the lodge. The top step was previously broken and a bad repair had been done. There was a used balloon outside the front door. Going round the back of the decking to view the hot tub and seating area I was disgusted with the state of this area. The whole area was dirty from the hot tub cover to the table and chairs. The hot tub was still being filled with water. None had been cleaned in a long time. The outside wall of the lodge in the same area as the hot tub was covered in cobwebs. But worse still was the state of the cushions. They looked terrible, torn and ripped open and the stuffing hanging out. They were Soaking wet with slugs living on them. I immediately called the property manager, Kate who turned up and apologised as she had missed it off her list. She used a leaf blower to clean the floor area, but not the cobwebs and she wiped the table top also the hot tub cover, After Kate rang the owner, who admitted that they knew they were ripped on one side but thought they would do ?? she took the cushions away promising to get some replacements from Argos the next day. Kate returned with some very thin cushions that did not fit and were from her own house. She never returned with any new cushions. I have sent numerous emails and phone calls to Lake District Lodge Holidays who have no power to do anything just pass on my complaint to owners who don’t seem interested. The outside of the lodge is very tired, with brown paint covering rotten wood on the railings. There a few issues inside too but as they would have been ok if the outside was up to standard. I won’t bother mentioning them. Would I recommend this Lodge? NO, would I recommend booking through Lake District Lodge Holidays? NO

We had a great time at Rydal, very well presented, clean and tidy, and well equipped, a 5 minute walk to the lake and club house, would have been nice to have been left a welcome package, with all information regarding places to go etc, as we didn’t really know anything on arrival, recommendations for trips and restaurants, pubs, things to see and visit etc, would be helpful, everything else was spot on,

• The lodge offered comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, a spacious living room, kitchen with amenities, and a lovely hot tub.

• However, cleanliness was an issue, with hair found in drawers and on lamps, rusted blinds, mold in the shower, and a dirty hot tub. • The on-site "shop" was poorly stocked, and staff seemed disengaged. No time for when they came to check the hot tub, they would turn up randomly without no notification ans all they did was open and close the lid. They cleaned there dirty cloths etc in the 2 washing machines and 2 tumble dryer that guess use to clean there clothes. • Internet speed was also very slow - split between two routers Parc Dean and their own WiFi, 2mb Max.

Such a beautiful lodge, can’t fault anything, we liked how the hot tub was private as well and the location of it made sitting there so peaceful with the view of the tress, we will 100% be coming back at some point soon

We had a fantastic stay in Rydal Lodge.

It was just great and had everything we needed for a great holiday. The Lodge is a great size, was lovely and clean, the hot tub was great and the dog loved the enclosed decking!

Going around the back of the site, it looks messy and untidy, which reflects the low maintenance and standards of the Lodges.

It's not a quality holiday Lodge experience as advertised and it feels like the owners are simply sweating the assets. Overall just felt dowdy and worn out. Not to mention the bees!

Lovely well equipped lodge with private hot tub.

This was our 3rd visit.

Clean and tidy and had been freshly decorated. Kitchen fully equipped and addition of air fryer was added bonus. Sofas had been replaced, but not very comfy. Bedding was nice and clean. Lovely place to stay located in quiet area. Ideal for pets.

Lovely lodge, but unfortunately for our entire stay we had no water pressure.

We reported this to reception, who said that because it was a private booking there was nothing they could do and that they needed to seek the owner’s permission before attending. As a result, we were unable to shower for the duration of the stay, which is not acceptable, particularly with children. We decided to cut our stay short and leave on the Sunday. When we were leaving, we saw the maintenance team working on the same problem at the lodge next door. They stated that reception should not have advised what they did and sent the team round to rectify the issue. I have stayed with Hoseasons, particularly at White Cross Bay, on several occasions, and this trip was very disappointing and below the expected standard.

I’ve stayed here 3 times before and I’m sorry to say I won’t be returning for a 4th visit.

We were there for Christmas week and the lodge is very tired now and not up to standard. One of the sofa legs had been bodge repaired with offcuts of timber, whilst the other leg was literally bent and on its “last legs”. The main cupboard in the kitchen was full of tins of paint and DIY equipment, and previously this has been a cupboard available to use to store food due its location. The decking is a trip hazard as some of the boards are not flush and the front door was incredibly difficult to lock from inside, which is a priority especially with a toddler in the lodge. The superking bed covers stank of foist, the pillows were old and the mattress on the right hand side had a huge big divet in it which creaked loudly every single time you turned in bed, so a good nights sleep is impossible. One of the wardrobes in the main bedroom was also full of property (high chair, old towels and throws, hoover, old ornaments, ‘fragile’ boxes) so again unable to use. This wouldn’t be such an issue for a short stay but when there for a week with suitcases full of clothes it’s really not acceptable. The cleanliness was also substandard, crumbs left in the kitchen from previous guests and food down the cupboard doors and I had to hoover as soon as we got in there as the floors were dirty. There is also no grill pan in the oven. We had an issue with a shower trap coming loose and the whole lodge smelling disgusting, but this was promptly sorted out via Sykes/booking agent within 24hours. The few positives were a well maintained hot tub which was clean and checked daily, and the Christmas decorations which were ready for our arrival on Christmas week.

So very peaceful and relaxing.

10/10 we loved the whole experience. Staff at the bar and reception were delightful and even the hot tub guys were great

Property was beautiful and more impressive on arrival than shown in photos.

Little touches like the dog biscuits, condiments basket and lights around the hot tub made it a very comforting and relaxing stay. Lodge was very clean on arrival and attention to detail was noted. Very central location to towns and villages. We had a lovely stay and felt very much at home in this beautiful lodge!

This was our second stay this year, beautifully decorated and clean.

Situated in quiet area of the park. Jacuzzi is maintained daily and is clean and well maintained. The decking wraps the building which is suitable area for dog to play. Kitchen is modern with all equipment supplied. Bed rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. Does need smart tv as free view has limited channels and unable to link to Netflix. Definitely booking again next year for weekend and longer stay breaks. Very happy with accommodation and site.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

However, despite the cabin being super clean it had a bad smell on arrival, luckily it was really warm and we could open all the doors and windows, unfortunately each time we went out and locked up we did return to the smell. It did it appear that the smell was coming from anywhere within the cabin and so we weren’t sure if it was coming from underneath e.g. under the decking? The location and accommodation itself was fabulous and we wouldn’t hesitate to return (hopefully the smell would be gone

It took us 45 minutes to find the lodge.

I have downloaded the map which would help find the place for next time visitors. Not very clean at all. Pretzels down the sofa & full of long hair dog fur. Where they have left a basket out for dogs, this corner stunk of dog wee. Bedding duvet should not be offered as it was disgusting. It was lumpy after so many washes. I did take my own so throw it in a wardrobe out the way. Pillows were rotten and stunk of sweaty heads. Wee stains on mattress protector in the main bedroom. I did not sleep at all in this place for the uncleanliness. The whole place needed to be dipped in bleach. Out side the Bristow table and chairs were damaged. One chair was wonky with a rusty leg that could have snapped any moment. I have wasted £830 on this experience AND would like some compensation back!! If you want pictures I have plenty if you want to get in touch.

Overall reaction is that the property is becoming tired and needs some updating as regards equipment and furnishings.

The bathrooms and hot tub were first class. The beds however were uncomfortable and in one case had a broken board between mattress and base. Broken foot on sofa. No grill pan in oven wornout saucepans and an unusable clothes iron. As I say tired and neglected. Nice location shame about the details as they could easily be put right .

We were very happy with the location of the lodge, a quiet area that suited us.

Beautiful kitchen, and bathrooms, couldn’t fault the whole place. Within easy proximity of Windermere, Ambleside and Bowness-On-Windermere. Have already booked for October. Really enjoyed our first visit to the Lake District.

This is the 4th time we have stayed at Rydal lodge & it gets better every time.

Comfy beds✔ brand new hot tub ✔ comfy sofas ✔ cleanliness ✔ dog friendly ✔ well stocked kitchen ✔ . The lodge is in a great location. It has everything in the kitchen you need to cook with. Lovely outside sitting area. Weather was so good last week we didn't want to leave.

Overall a lovely lodge, very spacious & great hot tub.

Good facilities & heating. Ideal location for exploring Windermere. Sofa’s could’ve been a bit more comfy & kitchen needed a bit of a clean when we arrived but would stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at Rydal Lodge and was very pleased to see that the lodge has been refurbished.

We found getting into the hot tub a bit difficult and it looked like it was the wrong way round. Other than that everything else was lovely.

First entered the lodge and an awful smell met us at the door we found it was the mop and also the kitchen bin which we had to clean our self as there was all stuff at the bottom rotting away.

The fridge and freezer was very dirty, floors not clean, bathrooms not clean, mattress protector all stained yellow when we stripped bedding when leaving. The hot tub was not clean it had leaves and flies in it and never seen one person checking the hot tub all weekend and outside around round the back needs cleaning. No instructions for the cooker or anything which was needed, boiler stopped working F1 error. Second time we’ve stayed here and would not return again a very disappointing stay.

Another lovely stay at Rydal lodge, this is our 3rd stay.

Pleased to say the hot tub has had a refurb, no squealing noise from the jets & a new control panel. Everything in the kitchen provided for a comfortable stay. We had a wasps nest in the roof above the front door, we rang on the morning to notify maintenance & when we came back after a day out they had been out & resolved the problem. Can't wait to stay again.

We had a great stay!

The lodge was spotless. With some extras-the cleaning pack was very handy as was the dog towel and toy. Very comfortable with plenty of facilities. It deserves 5 stars but there were a few repairs needed - a few jets don’t work on the hot tub and a kitchen cupboard door. But my self, family and dog had a great time. The enclosed walkway around the property was idea for the dog. Would rebook!

The lodge was nice, however the outdoor furniture was soaked when we arrived.

The bedroom window in the main bedroom was faulty as in the handle was loose so it couldn’t be locked. Otherwise the lodge was lovely and comfortable

We really enjoyed our stay at White Cross Bay in Rydal Lodge.

The super king size bed was brilliant and the lodge had everything we needed. The hot tub was big, very private and well maintained during our stay. Some reviews mentioned a loud noise coming from a jet in the hot tub but it wasn’t as bad as we were expecting. Giving 4 starts as we feel like the lodge could do with some TLC, the main bedroom window has a broken latch and wouldn’t shut properly and a kitchen cupboard door was hanging off. There was also a panel in the hot tub which kept falling off. It would have been nice to have had a larger smart TV in the living room as we only had a few channels. It would have been nice to have had Netflix or the option to plug in a fire stick. That being said, we definitely would return!

The property requires a deep clean, the hoover when used smells awful.

The outdoor furniture cushions were wet through when we arrived and had mold and algae on some of them, they couldn’t be used, an outside storage box is needed to keep them dry when not in use. The hot tub pump screeches when the pump runs. The second bedroom is really dark due to the Laurel hedge being overgrown, the hedge actually scratches against the lodge when there’s a wind interrupting sleep. The outside consumer box cover was on the floor when we arrived, it had been held in place with gaffer tape, I reported this last year when we visited. It’s a nice lodge in a quiet location but requires a little tlc.

The lodge itself is lovely, modern decor and generally well maintained however, we had a few issues: Hot tub is well used and the plastic parts around the filter were not fixed properly to the tub and kept falling apart and floating around the tub.

The 2nd set of jets for the back part of the tub emitted a screaming sound so we didn't use it as it wasn't relaxing with it on. Dishwasher didn't work from the start to the end of the holiday (code E-15 water supply), maintenance came to fix it but couldn't fix it. We paid for a dishwasher but ended up having to wash up in a plastic bowl in the sink (no kitchen sink plug either). Composite decking was very uneven / bowed / sagging, creating trip hazards in 3 or 4 places, the worst measured at 40mm difference in height between adjacent boards! Everything else was fine but annoying not to have a dishwasher when we paid for it, I probably wouldn't book again if the above items are not fixed

We have had another fantastic stay at Rydal lodge, having stayed there in September last year it was great to be back.

Lovely comfortable lodge with comfy sofas & a superking size bed. Hot tub is great after a days walking & private. Pool man comes every day to check it. Would definitely recommend.

1st time we've stayed in a lodge so much better than a caravan in terms of size & comfort, this one was done out to a high spec.

The decking area was ideal being fully enclosed and the hot tub area was really private and got the sun in the afternoon but the tub wasn't working perfectly, the maintenance guy said they're waiting for parts from China. On the booking we were asked to call 48 hours before arrival to get the site access code, that was a nightmare, it took 24 hrs of trying to contact Sykes & the site, Sykes did eventually provide it, it would be so much easier if you just sent it automatically

Beautiful lodge everything you need to make your stay lovely the hot tub was amazing at the end of day.

We stopped at this lodge for new year we where impressed with it lovely and spacious furniture comfortable would recommend a better mattress a bit firmer and some puffer pillows for comfort and bit of thicker duvet.

Hot tub lovely very big one of the jets kept making a funny sound when u used the jet 2 my son had to go out and turn the jet off when it came on automatically but noisy but other than that brill quiet location I would recommend it and we will return to this lodge in future time

The Lodge looks very modern and very well kept until you get to the property.

It would be a lovley lodge and somewhere to go back to every year when visiting the lakes but the cleanliness and upkeep just wasn't up to our usual holiday standards. From the cleanliness of the whole property (I have photos) to both sets of patio doors not locking (this was also noted in a review from another person staying in September) it does not feel very safe especially with a child to have doors that do not lock. In regards to both sets of doors we had to get maintenance out 2 nights in a row who then had to force them shut and told us not to not use them for the rest of the stay. To the bedding used that must have been that old the poppers to close it had all broken (I have photos) the decking outside as noted in other reviews still hasn't been fixed causing a trip hazard. The hot tub was not emptied before we arrived as I have a photo of it with paper/tissue in still. We had to give the lodge a clean before even starting our holiday which isn't what you expect. Even the shower was not cleaned properly as there was some time of pink product looked like conditioner all in the bottom. If we where staying in a budget friendly property I wouldn't have minded as much but we even had to go out and purchase our own washing up liquid, sponges/cloths, cleaning products and black bags you expect the price we paid to at least have a couple spare. I do believe the lodge could be a lovley place to stay if you kept on top of the repairs even the kitchen bin was broken. This review sounds like I am just complaining for the sake of it but I stay in lodges 3 + times a year and I never have to clean. I would like to send all the photos across for you you see if you can reply to me please. I feel the lodge is in need of a deep clean as the price we paid to stay did not match the property. Stayed here for our first family holiday after welcoming our daughter.

It was perfect for us as we could go out in the day exploring and chill at the lodge in the evening. It was a lot more spacious than we imagined. The only thing I would suggest would be to provide some washing up liquid as we didn't realise we had to bring our own so had to go buy some. Other than that it was perfect!

Absolutely beautiful stay at Rydal lodge.

The lodge was well equipped & had everything we needed. Comfy sofas & lovely super king size bed. Hot tub was great after a day walking. Would definitely book again. One set of the patio doors wouldn't shut properly when we arrived. We rang & reported this. A man came out & tied a bungie cord around handles for the night, he said someone would be back next day but nobody came back. This didn't spoil our holiday in any way but needs fixing.

Lovely lodge, all modern fixtures and fittings.

Good space in the rooms, large decking area. King size bed was so comfy, with the added luxury of the en-suite which meant we could all get ready at the same time rather than waiting for the bathroom. Kids loved their room too. Hot tub was checked daily, window cleaner came round whilst we were there too. Only downside, the outdoor cushions were soaked, could have done with being left inside to be put out when the sun came out, and the iron wasn’t working. Otherwise perfect location and will definitely be back.

The first thing that was apparent was the unpleasant aroma of dog urine that had obviously penetrated the furniture, rugs & carpets of which the 2 small plug ins did nothing to mask!

The kitchen lacked a sieve & grater therefore making a simple pasta meal difficult! The fencing around the decking needs attention, rotting spindles which are loose, as does the metal chairs, one of the legs had rusted through. Despite daily hot tubs checks it might be frugal to drain it and clean the black mould that has accumulated in crevices. En-suite door gets stuck, quite a panicky feeling when a door doesn't open. The shower in the en-suite also didn't enable you to change the temperature as the handle was loose, Entry code to security gates incorrect! Patio door lock very stiff and temperamental. No toilet brushes.... Unannounced visit from a window cleaner in the rain! Cupboards that left our clothes smelling musty, previous guests rubbish in draws. The list is endless. For a holiday home that has endless rules and regulations may I suggest you get the place in order first before you insist on any of these. I wouldn't return nor would I recommend considering the amount paid for this accommodation.

We loved our stay.

We stayed at Rydal lodge in 2017 & we were so impressed so we opted to book again this year. Comfy mattresses, lovely decor, great kitchen amenities & clean. I cannot give negative feedback because we loved our stay, just a few suggestions. Upon arrival the code given for the barrier was incorrect. We’d driven for hours from Loch Ness so the correct code should be given as we had to go into reception to sort this (same happened in 2017). The hot tub was amazing, we enjoyed it daily, one corner the jets weren’t working. There were 3 of us so this didn’t matter but worth mentioning for future guests. In the evenings when our son was asleep we watched the tv. A suggestion would be to add a dvd player for guests as there wasn’t much on the tv & it would be useful for parents with young children. Thank you Rydal for a wonderful holiday! Wonderful memories made & we hope to return again one day.

A great place to stay, the hot tub was an added bonus that we enjoyed.

It is a good place to visit the lake district from. It is a spacious lodge with good amenities. There were a few minor maintenance problems that we reported as we did not want them being billed to us. A broken metal curtain tie that had been left on a table, a toilet seat that was very loose and a broken bin. However, these did not spoil our time at the lodge and we would book again.

This lodge is beautiful, it’s very homely and modern.

The hot tub is amazing and checked daily. The location is fab for lots of activities. I highly recommend this lodge.

Overall the property is satisfactory and I would probably re book.

The property needs a parasol on the decking area. There wasn’t any storage that we could see for the outdoor furniture cushions, some of the cushions were covered in bird droppings due to no storage. Outdoor electric supply needs fixing, gaffer tape isn’t intrinsically safe, the power tripped on our final night and it was the outside supply that tripped. We called the emergency contact number and they gave assistance straight away.

My boyfriend, myself and our two dogs stayed here in March (forgot that I didn’t leave feedback!

), and we had the best time! The lodge itself was immaculate and so beautifully decorated. Right in the heart of the Lakes, you really couldn’t get any better. Desperate to come back again!

The lodge was lovely, very comfy and clean and a great location.

However we booked this lodge for the use of the hot tub but everyday of our stay a maintenance person had to come out and refill it, which we found out on the last day was due to a leak that the owners are aware of and parts have been requested. On the Saturday it was my daughters 16th birthday. The maintenance guy came out in the morning to refill the tub and told us he would be 20mins. In total it was 3hrs before the hot tub was useable again and we ended up contacting sykes to help us to sort it We had to make an unplanned trip out to ensure my daughters birthday wasn't spent sitting around. I would like to speak with the owners/sykes cottages re this as we should have been made aware and compensated for this as it massively impacted our stay.

Directions to the lodge were unclear.

Took approximately 45 minutes to find. Banister on steps were hanging off (was extremely dangerous) and the maintenance man turned up to fix it on our departure - he is not allowed to do any maintenance whilst we are in residence?! The outdoor seating area had cushions left on, they were covered in bird muck and were sodden and dirty. Hot tub was extremely difficult to get into and the jets were difficult to turn on. There were no instructions on how to use it. Seemed as if the hot tub was back to front and the correct way into it was tucked in against the fence. The inside of the lodge was perfect, couldn't fault it.

We had a lovely time, the lodge was really clean and modern, but still cosy and warm, the Christmas decorations were a lovely touch as we have a 17 month old.

The only downside was no Netflix on the TV as we were back around 4pm when it got dark. Hot tub was maintained daily and the mattress in the master bedroom was really comfy would definitely book again.

Fabulous lodge.

We've stayed on the park before and love it here. The lodge was in a lovely quiet location and exactly high standard we have previously experienced with Lake Distric Lodges. We would definitely book it again if opportunity arose . Only issue was lack of lighting around the hot tub which made it difficult to use safely once dark, which at this time of year is early. There were lights outside but the ones in that area and around the decking edge weren't working. Would have given 5 stars if this had been fixed.

Absolutely beautiful lodge inside we loved everything about it couldn’t really fault anything!

It had everything we could need, the only thing the cooker stopped working on our second day so we wasn’t able to cook our breakfast which was very disappointing and I think the outside could of done with a tidy/brushing up as it looked a bit messy but other than that a great stay and we would definitely return again!

Had a lovely stay at Rydal lodge, it was a perfect base for our family week away.

The lodge decor is lovely and was very clean throughout. Having stayed at a few self catering apartments, it would benefit from a couple of dining additions, colander and placemats (to protect the lovely table) but nothing that spoilt our stay. Will definitely recommend and return again.

The lodge was absolutely lovely it was very modern and very clean, although we only used the kitchen for tea and coffee it has everything you may need if you are cooking.

The bedrooms have plenty drawer and hanging space and the beds were very comfy with beautiful clean linen. We had a lovely stay and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to stay at the Lakes

Absolutely amazing lodge beautiful I've stayed in a few on white Cross Bay and this is by far the best one.

On arrival inside lovely and clean but outside dirty seat broken part of fence on decking had collapsed into hedge bottle tops leaves and lime wedges all over outside seating dirty and parts missing also hot tub one of jests floating around so that seat jets don’t work my wife took an hour to clean outside up phones you’re office to sort these problems out and was sorted along with loose toilet seat

We spent 4 days in rydal Lodge 24 Grasmere white cross bay and wow what a Lodge it was, it was immaculate when we arrived spotlessly clean, nicely decorated,the Lodge is modern but homely the kitchen has everything you need the 2 bathrooms are lovely and modern.

The Lodge is spacious we had 4 adults 2 children and our little dog and there was loads of space to move around ,would highly recommend this Lodge and hopefully will get the chance to return . Thank you to the Lodge owners for allowing us to stay in such a lovely place.

Well alls I can say is we had an amazing stay the lodge was beautiful and in a lovely spot we really enjoyed r few days here and will definitely be returning in the near future thank you so much

Not the cleanest or lodges and what we paid for the weekend you would think the cleaning would be top notch.

Amazing lodge- clean, well equipped and homely!

The park itself is great, especially for families as the park and kids disco every night was a great hit with ours. Will definitely be returning to Rydal in the near future.

Excellent stay we have stayed on the site numerous times but this was the best.

We been using this lodge for last 3 years This has recently been refurbished beautifully We absolutely love coming back time after time but this was such a lovely surprise !

It has everything you need and is central for getting out and about . we have booked again for later in the year 100% would recommend this lodge .

We’ve been to White Cross Bay lots of times but this was our first stay in Rydal Lodge.

This is a lovely lodge in a quiet area of the site, a short walk to the main complex but far enough away for a nice quiet break. The lodge itself is well equipped, comfortable and the recent refurbishment is lovely. The hot tub is great, even though it was raining!. We will definitely keep this one in mind for our next visit.

Lovely lodge in a fab park, lovely bar & shop on site the staff are very helpful & friendly, very spacious & everything you need for a perfect getaway, but the hot tub does need the handle fixing as it is very heavy & awkward to move.

We have stayed in Rydal Lodge for the last 4 years and love this lodge, however, this year you can really see signs of wear and tear.

The lodges needs some TLC to bring it back to a good standard. Sadly, we couldn't use the hot tub as the lid was so heavy we struggled to lift it back onto the tub. The maintenance guy said a new arm was on order to fix this, but not being able to use the hot tub was a massive disappointment. We tried it once and thats when we knew we couldn't lift the lid back on. This hot tub is old, not all features worked on it and there are no head cushions at all. The lodge is still very comfortable and well laid out. The shower drain in the ensuite was blocked so we fixed this, but the whole shower unit needs replacing as there is a lot of signs of wear and mold around the edges, also the floor is lifting. The carpet in the bedrooms shows signs of wear also with stains. The patio doors didn't open from the dinning area, this needs fixing. A little bit of TLC and this lodge would be a 5 star as we do truly love this lodge. There are lots of positives, the lodge was clean, well organised, and has everything you need for a comfortable stay in the Lakes. We will be back to this lodge once its had little money spent on it, as its rather expensive for what it is now. On that note, I cannot believe how expensive the lodges are now, the prices are off the scale for next year. Its also massively disappointing that you no longer offer repeat customer discounts plus you charge a booking fee. So add in the price increases, along with no loyalty discounts and its very expensive. We've been booking each year with Lake District Holidays for the last 8 years, they have always been a great company to deal with, fair prices, a good selection of nice lodges and they look after their customers, whats happened? A 3 night stay in Oct is over £1000, you can stay in a luxury hotel for less than that. Customer loyalty needs to be nurtured.

The Lodge was clean and comfortable but a lot of attention to detail missing.

On arrival the outdoor cushions were scattered all over, soaking and leaves all over them. The hot tub lid is very heavy and awkward to get on and off on your own especially for my disabled Mam. Looks like it was once on a spring but never been fixed. There was no iron (but a ironing board) or hoover. The floor in the main bathroom is starting to lift especially around the bath behind the door. For the price you pay I was expecting a bit more luxury. Needs a spruce up.

Lodge was perfect, however let down by the outdoor area, over hanging hedge that also contained a wasps nest, not plesant when outdoors.

Lovely big lodge in a quiet cul de sac location, large private hot tub and seating area which was really nice, king size bed which was fabulous, very comfy.

Two large bathrooms, very modern, Kitchen cupboards could do with a good sort out, all clean but just need organising, glassware and mugs all odd and in different cupboards, but no biggy, had a problem with the hot tub on first day, I rang lake district lodge holidays, all sorted and a man came out within the hour, great service.

We couldn't get internet for my children.

The l launderette was out of order .the shop on site didn't sell much and the opening hours weren't good enough..we took a DVD player for the boys .we couldn't use it as the brackets on the back of the television, were covering the port hole for the HD lead .but the lodge was beautiful.

Just missing attention to detail: - curtain tie backs broken - outside seating area next to hot tub was covered in leaves and rubbish such as bar menus etc - i had to clean it before we could use it - fairy lights outside cabin broken - wire looked like it had been cut, we reconnected it!

Realised on first night (Mon) there was no hot water so no bath for me disappointingly.

Rang to report it on Tue morning . Went out and left the key. Tried water when we got in, no change. Waited all day for someone to call round. I rang again to be advised someone had actually been. They had obviously not left a note otherwise I would have rang up earlier and when I realised it still wasn’t working. They same person came back out but 5 minutes before he came, it started working again. Had another look, but left as he thought it must have been an air lock as it seemed to be working again. Next day (Wed) we went out and when we got back no hot water again. Rang up but it was Thursday before it was finally fixed - the day before we came home. For 3 adults, not being able to shower or bath for most of the holiday in hot weather was frustrating. What was really annoying was to read online feedback from 2 separate people who stayed there just before us saying they had had no hot water throughout their holiday too. We have stayed at this lodge 4 or 5 times and to find the price has more than doubled next year for the same week means we will not be coming back.

stayed at llangrig Lodge a few times,excellent and very well maintained

We had a really lovely stay and managed to fit five adults and one dog comfortably.

The rooms were really spacious and the lodge was very clean. The dining table, kettle, bathroom floor and sofas were a bit tired so we made note of that for our own reference. There was a very good amount of kitchen utensils and seating and hot tub was lovely. Great holiday park and location and lovely quiet cul de sac road. The park seems to be very dog friendly on the road our lodge was on.

So lovely & clean really enjoyed our stay

We enjoyed our stay at the site with just a couple of small gripes.

One of the reasons for choosing White Cross Bay was for the gym & pool but as the gym wasn't open till 10:45 kind of spoilt it a bit for me as by that time we were out & about. I thought the gym would be open from 07:30 as other places we have stayed at is a standard sort of time. The other gripe was the Wi-Fi, to say it was dire would be an understatement. Because of these minor gripes our expectations were not as we hoped they would be, the accommodation was absolutely brilliant & if we decide to go back hopefully the Covid restrictions will not be in place which should give us more to do especially as the first two days it didn't stop raining.

An amazing break at Rydal Lodge

The lodge was perfect. Very clean, cosy, spacious and in a great location. It was a treat to have the use of the luxury hot tub! 4th time staying at whitecross bay!! Rydal lodge was beautiful clean and of very high standard. We had issues with the hot tub on our stay which were not dealt with leaving us unable to use it. There appeared tp be a smell of drains in the lodge on the first couple of days which we put down to a heavy rain fall. I have since sent an email to the company regarding the hot tub fault but have received no response to date. The lodge could do with more brochures of ideas of places of interest to visit if new to the area. Rydal Lodge

The lodge was in an excellent, quiet location and was very well presente. The inside areas were spacious and well equipped with a nice large second bedroom with double and single beds. TVs in both bedrooms was a nice surprise for our son and two bathrooms made for speedy starts to days out. The large decking area with the hot tub was a great addition to the holiday and one small issue with two wasps nests on the roof was dealt with efficiently and speedily by Lodge Holidays. The perfect weekend!

Everything about our stay at Rydal Lodge was excellent! The booking procedure & communications from the team at Lake District holidays was first class. White Cross Bay is very peaceful & pretty site & all the staff were friendly & helpful. Rydal Lodge was superb, clean & modern with everything we needed (& a hot tub!). Although there were several groups & parties, due to the 10pm quiet time policy, we had no problems with noise. Luckily, the weather was brilliant sunshine for 3 days which really made the weekend. Outstanding lodge

We booked to stay at this lodge as it looked stunning in the pictures and when we got there the pictures just didn't do it justice! The lodge was outstanding and totally stunning. The master bedroom was gorgeous it was more like a suite at a top hotel. The hot tub was fabulous our only issue was getting in and out as you had to stand on the jets which was quite painful on your feet. Love the option of watching dvds whilst chilling out in the evenings. Our only issue was the wifi/4g access which was useless. This made it difficult to contact people who had joined us at the park for the mass shih tzu meet up, we didn't have people's contact numbers so we're relying on internet access to arrange meet ups within the park and surrounding areas. (We did know when booking this may be an issue) If the owner installed wifi boosters in the property it would help. Our dogs felt very at home in the lodge, Emme especially enjoyed sitting out on the decking each morning to watch the birds and ducks A nice added extra would be some extra pillows and blankets, also the duvet in the single bed was to small for an adult, so a double duvet would of suited the bed better. Mid May 2017

Myself and my partner stayed here with our two children. A two year old and the other being 10 months. We couldn't fault the accommodation as it met with all our needs just as I'm sure it would with most group combinations. The enclosed decking surrounding the lodge with a hot tub was fantastic especially with the week of good weather we had. The lodge is just a few minutes walk from dipping your toes in Windermere Lake and closer still is the main centre without being in top of it. The lodge is situated in a cul de sac so therb is no through traffic on what is a nice quiet family site anyway. We enjoyed our stay in the Rydal Lodge and would happily pay another visit. Luxury lodge let down by lack of kitchen attention,

This lodge is very comfortable with first class furnishings, however we felt let down by the tight timescales on arrival nd departure, This makes it I feel overpriced eg 4 nights turns into 3 nd a bit days , quite expensive really ?? The service when booking the lodge was great, really clear and precise. The lodge was lovely and one of the best spots on the site, a lot of other lodges where very shaded and had no sun for the bulk of the day - so definitely check site maps before choosing your lodge! The onsite pool is very small so you have to book your slot, the slots were gone almost instantly was super disappointing and the evening entertainment for children was non existent, however it didn't dampen the weekend as we enjoyed the evenings back at the lodge with the hot tub. Just bliss

The lodge was lovely both in looks and comfort. It was in a lovely location and loved the fact that all your neighbours respected the be quiet after 10pm rule. Great base

Whilst the lodge itself is clean and comfortable I felt there were a couple of things that could be improved upon. At some points there was quite a strong smell coming from the en suite, the extractor fan wasn't working in there also. There was also a bulb not working in the main bathroom. The smell from the en suite is something that should be looked at as this had been commented on in the guest book in the lodge. The bed in the master bedroom was far too big and quite uncomfortable with lumps and bumps. Far too many cushions on the bed as well but that is just personal taste so not an issue per say! The outside decking area could do with a bit of a tidy was looking quite dated could do with either being oiled or stained. Also the plants on the decking did have quite a lot of weeds in them so again just a bit of a general tidy of the outside area. What did you enjoy most about your stay? We booked Rydal lodge as a surprise break for my mother in law. Brilliant communication beforehand, the lodge was really clean and beautifully decorated. A wet but pleasant stay!

We stayed over the Easter week, arriving on a very rainy Bank Holiday Monday! The Lodge is very nicely furnished, in particular the main living area/kitchen. The hot tub is huge and is really lovely, the kids enjoyed it so much! The kitchen is well equipped and had a nice big dining table. The telly had Sky Family Cinema channel which was a treat for the kids as they watched a new film each day! The park was very busy, due to it being half term, so we didn't go in the onsite pub or pool. However, we did take a walk down to the lake at the edge of the park and the kids fed the ducks. We visited Bowness, Ambleside and took some pictures from up Kirkstone Pass. Lake District Lodge holidays customer service was excellent, and soon rectified a small issue we had. Fab stay!!!

Very enjoyable stay, the lodge was ideally located in the park...being close enough to the main resort area and not to far from the lakes shore. Loved the fact that the hot tub was in a secluded position and the fairy lights made it. The lodge itself was remarkably clean and very spacous as well as having a baeutiful modern interior. Christmas at Rydal

I have stayed at Rydal before and loved it. Just a few little bits... Oven needs a deep clean. The mirror lights in bathrooms not working. The hot tub tv? Had trouble last time does it even have one? A Beautiful Lodge

Rydal Lodge is a beautiful lodge situated on a lovely private cul-de-sac on the site. Upon arrival the lodge was spotlessly clean and tidy and we were really impressed with the comfort. We had absolutely no problems or any complaints whatsoever during our stay. One very slight niggle was that the hot tub is a little tired with not all of the jets seeming to work at once but it was superb for our needs. We were completely secluded in the tub which was lovely as walking around the site we saw many that had little or no privacy. I would wholeheartedly recommend staying at Rydal Lodge. If space, comfort and privacy are important to you then this is the Lodge for you. I did get the impression that as we hadn't booked through Parkdean we weren't treated to as much of a welcome at the reception as those that were - a small thing but it did make me smile! May Dog Stay

The lodge is located in a gorgeous Park in the Windermere area. There are 3 towns very close by with great amenities. We stay in the lakes every year and this is by far the nicest lodge and park we have stayed on. The lodge itself is very spacious and was ample room for my partner and I and our medium sized dog. The lodge has everything you need, no need to bring a single kitchen item- the owners have put their on stamp on the place which makes it feel like a home from home and the added bonus of a super long bed sealed the deal. The outdoor space is fantastic- with fully enclosed decking so no need to worry about the dog and a gorgeous large sofa to sit Na enjoy the sun. The hot tub is huge- and was all set up for our arrival. Anyone looking at this should book immediately. We will most definitely being booking again very soon for our trip next year. I absolutely love this place , so much so I have booked to back for a third time , very friendly staff and a very welcoming atmosphere, I have taken friends and family there , now they love it too . Lovely comfortable lodge

We have stayed at WhiteCross bay a few times now and love the park and location. Lodge is clean, spacious and well equipped. Comfy bed and has the biggest hot tub we have ever used! One thing I would suggest is the decking could do with some maintenance/coat of oil or paint. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Good lodge, with all you need for a good stay.

Enjoyable stay at Rydal Lodge, The beds were comfortable, the rooms clean and airy. The hot tub was serviced daily, and ready to use when we arrived. Will would stay here again. Lovely lodge, would recommend. Fresh and clean, like home from home so comfy and cosy. We will return. Hot tub was fab even in the rain. Family of 4 with toddler and dog getaway

Rydal lodge was a great break for a family holiday, 4 adults,1 toddler and a dog. We all had a brilliant time. Location was fantastic, quiet cul de sac, friendly neighbours however it was still a short walk to the children's park and the lake. Hot tub was extremely private and a nice escape at night time (although the tv was broken and speaker was constantly buzzing). We all feel that the lodge could have done with some TLC due to the lack of the following; Potato peeler Potato masher Lack of crockery/cutlery Sharp knives Measuring jugs Wine glasses (wasn't enough) Also the rubber seal on the oven door was hanging off which caused an issue when cooking meals. We have left this review for the current owners as the lodge location was lovely, bedrooms were fantastic and the space inside with a child was brilliant. We just feel it needs a few added extras to make it a amazing. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Fantastic lodge fully equipped. Home from Home. Hot tub fantastic cleaned and checked twice a day. Loved are stay. Short walk from Lodge to the shore of Lake Windermere with fantastic views. Excellent stay in a beautiful lodge

I stayed with my partner for 3 nights here. The lodge was lovely, very modern yet cosy and also surprisingly homely! The decor was lovely. The lodge was clean everywhere, more than enough utensils and pottery etc. Located on such a lovely quiet part of the park. Hot tub is perfectly hidden so no one can see, unlike alot of other lodges on the park. Could only name one fault and that was that the fairy lights on the decking aren't working but everything other than that was simply perfect. Lovely lodge, very clean

The lodge was lovely and clean and was plenty big enough for a family of 4 with a baby and 2 dogs. The hot tub was great and very private with no other lodges over looking it, and was also well maintained daily. However, the only problem we found was work men were working on the decking on the lodge opposite, which caused quite a lot of noise and out view from the living room was 4 white vans. It was also a little difficult to park in front of our lodge as we had to keep moving vehicles around because of the vans. However the work men were very polite. It would have been nice for these renovations to be done when there was no-one in the other lodges as it is described as a quite area. Overall a good week and may book the same lodge again. Rydal Lodge

Arrived on a Friday after 4 looking forward to the hot tub after a long drive to Find it was cold rang up to be informed due to COVID it had been emptied and refilled and would take a few hours to heat back up ( which was disappointing as it was not hot until the next morning)around 1/2 hr later we had a power cut looked outside to see everyone lights were still on rang up again apparently when you have a lot of electrical stuff on at the same time this can happen we were directed to outside to remedy the situation which we did without problem. Lake lodge holidays were on the ball with any issues we had, the lodge itself was fab well decorated clean and there was lots of space, his and hers wardrobes In the master bedroom and a bed that was definitely one of the most comfortable I have had the pleasure of sleeping in. All amenities were there in the kitchen and the kids room was again spacious and welcoming and it was pet friendly would definitely stay in this lodge again. What did you enjoy most about your stay?
