Sunny Brow Lodge

Stayed after Christmas for New Year Disappointed that the Christmas decorations had been taken down (but that may have been my fault for not ticking box when booking - although don’t recall seeing a box) Had booked Monday to Monday day, early November notified that park was closing on the 3rd so couldn’t stay until 5th as planned (did receive refund for the difference) However, disappointed that although the park was closing on the Saturday, the facilities started closing around noon on the Friday Anyway, location is beautiful.

Lodge is beautifully situated. The lodge itself is comfortable - and clean … to a point There were coffee stains under one of the small tables and torn pieces of Christmas gift wrap and parts of a children’s toy behind the chairs (toy bottle, a dolls shoe and beads) Carpets had spill stains We didn’t touch the oven - went to put on the hood vent light and it was tacky from grease Chipped plates in the cupboard Beer cans in fence around the hot tub Being the end of the season, I’m sure these things will be looked at and prepared for new season Overall it was a break away for New Year in a lovely location PS. I hope the master bedroom sheet has been found. We stripped all beds and placed in bath along with towels

Lovely lodge very clean and spacious.

Had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen inc washing up liquid, 2 dishwasher tablets, oven gloves and a tea towel and hand towel. Bin had an extra bin bag. Hot tub was amazing where you could see the lake whilst in it. The verandas had a gate so dog and kids will be safe can’t wonder off. Lodge was on a corner again with a lovely view, with very little passing traffic. Could park our 2 cars outside comfortably there is additional parking opposite which didn’t bother us at all no noise from anyone at anytime. Bathrooms were nice showers were hot with towels supplied. Beds were nice and comfortable with plenty of space for all your clothing etc. lodge was lovely and warm with the central heating. No complaints whatsoever will definitely recommend this lodge to anyone and we will return.

Our party of six with an age spread of 75years, along with our small dog , had ample space , comfort and when needed privacy in a well appointed and maintained lodge in an idyllic setting overlooking the lake .

Couldn’t have asked for more from our accommodation, an ideal base to explore a part of the country we return to repeatedly and it always delivers , thanks again ,John

Great location and with everything you need.

we go at least 2/3 times per year to sunny brow and it is always the best time.

The lodge is set in a perfect position,hottub amazing,however on arrival the lodge had not been cleaned,dirty bath,dirty wet towel in wardrobe,items and spillages in the fridge,food crumbs on dining table,and inbedrooms,floor not swept food under sofa, photos taken cleaned it myself ,tried to contact sykes cottages to no avail apparently I never booked with them which is odd cause they took my money and emailed the codes to me screen shot my booking information as proof stated they would get back to me heard nothing,feel sorry for the owner because the cleaners are not doing their job

The lodge was lovely and spacious.

It was placed in the perfect location for views of the lake. The only one thing that was disappointing was the side path with steps that ran along the side of our decking and hot tub. Other people on site used this path and squeezed between the lodge and our parked cars to access the cut through. We felt our privacy was invaded as people were so close to our decking and hot tub definitely when we were using these areas.

An amazing lodge.

Spacious, clean and fabulous position on the edge of the Lake. Would recommend it highly. You won’t be disappointed.

We returned to Sunny Brow after my partner stayed here 10 years ago — this time with our two dogs and our 3-year-old.

Remarkably, the lodge still had the same charm he remembered, with a few thoughtful updates: the decking felt more spacious and the hot tub had been relocated, offering a better seating area. The highlight was definitely the view — a stunning, uninterrupted outlook over Lake Windermere, arguably one of the best on site. The lodge itself was clean, tidy and welcoming. Being able to bring our dogs made it all the more special — they settled in well and it meant we could enjoy the holiday as a whole family. There were just a couple of minor issues: some dust and bits under the sofa (only noticed while retrieving toys), and no cooking trays initially. That said, we were really impressed with the response from the maintenance team — within 20 minutes of calling, two new trays were delivered right to our door. Brilliant service! One small point to note: with several tall adults (6ft+) in our group, we did find the beds a little on the small side, which affected our sleep quality. Slightly larger beds would’ve made a big difference. Location-wise, it’s perfect — just 5 minutes to Ambleside and Windermere, and surrounded by natural beauty. We had a truly lovely stay and are already planning to return next year. Thank you for another memorable visit!

The location of the lodge was excellent with a lovely view of the lake.

The lodge has large windows but no blinds, just curtains. As a lot of people would pass our lodge to look at the lake, we felt very much on view, so we had to keep the curtains closed even during the day. The bed in the master bedroom was a little bit uncomfortable.

We had a lovely stay at sunnybrow Lodge and stayed for Christmas we were very happy with this lovely lodge, it was beautiful inside, very cosy with all the home comforts you need .

The beds were all made up and extremely comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped . The view was absolutely stunning we really enjoyed our holiday and will definitely book again in the future. Could do with a clothes airer but that's the only thing as everything else was spot on we would highly recommend this lodge thank you for a wonderful stay , we will be back !!

We had a wonderful week at Sunny Brow Lodge!

All the facilities you could reasonably want, comfortable bedrooms, no issues with hot water always a big thing for me, the hot tub perfect and uninterrupted views over the lake were bliss! Very minor and hopefully constructive criticism issues which shoukd be easily addressed. The black mould in the main bedroom ensuite shower is a little off putting and certainly needs addressing in any end of season maintenance (hopefully before). The key to the main door is sticky and could definitely benefit from some lock lubrication. Could one kitchen drawer or cupboard be left empty for some food? Ended up leaving it on the counter top which wasn't optimal. These are very very minor issues in what was a great week!

Our grandchildren just loved the lodge’s hot tub, but disappointingly, the view of the lake was somewhat obscured by the overgrown foliage around it.

Also, other park visitors could walk by a path and be overlooking those in the lodge’s hot tub, only by about two feet! (See review Sept ‘23) Inside, the lodge is in need of some TLC, especially some kitchen refurbishment. Various examples of black mould in both bathrooms could be easily addressed by everyday cleaning products, and the suedette armchairs in the lounge require cleaning. Storage in the lodge was plentiful, with bedrooms and bedding comfy and attractive. Sadly, we won’t be booking this lodge again.

Poor Cleanliness and faulty Boiler!

! On arrival, the cleanliness of the Lodge was poor. I hoovered prior to moving in!! There was a dirty towel hanging on the back. On the first night, we had problems with hot water and the boiler going off. I reported this at 9.14am on the second day. I was told this was a priority. I rang again at 12.13pm and was told it would be dealt with that day. I have still heard nothing. During the stay, the hot water came back on intermittently and the heating became permanent. We could not switch it off so had to keep the windows open!! I did not report again as I was not prepared to waste another day of our short holiday waiting on for a service engineer. We showered elsewhere!! To add insult to injury, on the last day, we received an email stating that the problem had been resolved because we had not contacted them again!! Extremely poor service.....

Lovely lodge in the most amazing position!

! Bedrooms and storage were so much bigger than other lodges we have stayed in, so that was a treat! Even the small room wasn’t that small! Lovely bedding and beds (which makes a difference!), having plenty of seats in the living room and being dog friendly was a big plus for us! The hot tub was beautiful and hot, and the view was so lovely, we all felt really relaxed. Completely recommend this lodge! I think it has a new boiler too so it was nice and warm as it was quite cold and wet the week we visited - enough hot water for all 6 of us and hot tub occasions! Someone came out whilst we were there to check the hot tub which gives you peace of mind too. I did leave a note to the cleaners before we left to say the hoover wasn’t picking up very well - might need a service or a new one - especially when you welcome dogs, it’s nice for the visitors to keep on top of it.

The lodge was beautiful with an amazing view to look at in the morning.

Was very clean and lovely decor. Just one real negative that was put on the holiday was, there wasn’t consistent running hot water for 6 of us. We managed two showers then the water went freezing. Had someone to come out twice to look at it and it still did the same thing. Wasn’t ideal when there was 6 of us wanting to shower and clean ourselves after using the hot tub.

Great location with fantastic view from the hot tub, view could have been appreciated much more if the lodge had bifold doors or something of the sort especially in the rain (which is very likely in the Lake District).

Lodge had everything we needed and beds were comfy. We arrived at 5pm to find nobody on reception and nobody answered the out of hours mobile number so we had real difficulty getting the gate code, luckily we saw somebody walking by who could give us this so do be aware of that if checking in after 5pm.

Lovely position with views over the lake, the comfort of the villa very good and relaxing, with the addition of the hot tub really good.

This Cabin is lovely and the views of the lake are amazing, but no privacy at all as there is a few steps next to the cabin where other people kept using to get to their cabins.

Sitting in the hot tub and having men walking past just a couple of feet away isn't very nice for young female girls. And both of our cars were badly scratched because of people squeezing passed with paddle boards etc, even though there is a sign saying Private on the Cabin. Maybe replace the Privacy sign at the steps to try stop people getting through or even put a gate up. We stayed here from the 1st Sept for 1 week and the weather was gorgeous, just to hot to sit outside on the decking and enjoy the views because there is no Parasol with this Cabin, and it was just far to hot to sit out in the sun without one, Reception said they don't hire out Parasols and didn't supply there guests with one either, if we had known this we would have taken one ourself. Also a clothes airer would be good too, using the dryer in hot weather just makes the cabin even hotter, which would be brilliant for the cold weather but not when its hot. The decking could do with repainting and a few boards fixing back into place, but nothing major. The hot tub is checked daily and is big enough for 5 Adults but probably better for 4. I tried every single day to speak to someone about a Parasol, using the contact info I was given when I booked, but never got to speak to anyone, I left voice messages and also text messages but no one replied. Apart from the lack of privacy due to some people squeezing passed our cars and staring at us in the hot tub, and the lack of an clothes airer or parasol, this as a really lovely clean Cabin & the beds are also really comfortable. The only reason we won't book this one again is because of the little issues we had, mainly the damage to our cars and the lack or privacy as stated above. The Wi-Fi on the park is terrible so don't expect much from it. It's free for a reason, you never seem to get any signal. The ark itself needs to sort this out though.

The lodge was spacious and nice.

A good view over the lake, although it gets busy as it looks onto the marina. Did not bother us. Hot tub was nice and it was kept clean and maintained. The park is a great location in between Ambleside and Windermere. Good base.

Best lodge I've been in so far at white cross bay.

Large, clean and ideally situated for a lake view, very nice hot tub also. Will definitely re book in the future.

We have been to Whitecross Bay many times but we stayed in this lodge for the first time in April, s 5 people and 1 dog, we had a lovely time.

The storage in the bedrooms were great plenty of room on all 3 bedrooms to store clothes ect. On entering the lodge we noticed how clean and bright it was (to previous lodges we have stayed in) we will definitely be returning to this lodge and recommending it to family.

Had a lovely break the lodge an location was perfect.

Our three teenage kids enjoyed themselves, would highly recommend and we are thinking of booking again next year. We touched lucky and had five days of sun but think we would of enjoyed it with bad weather. Plenty to do an the views were fantastic, especially from the hottub.

The property is home from home and we will love to return hopefully when the weather is a bit better.

The door from the living area to the decking was a bit difficult to close, the kitchen light switch we couldn't find but we had a lovely time and it went too fast.

A good property accurately described in a great location with comfortable beds, especially the third bedroom which had full size single beds.

The lodge was lovely but not very clean - glasses/plates/carpet/flooring all quite dirty.

Cobwebs everywhere. We enjoyed our stay but the lodge could do with a deep clean Club house - not much going on, this is probably due to the time of year

Perfect!

Lodge was lovely and clean. Bed, sofas and chairs were very comfortable. Wonderful view of the lake from the lodge, decking and hot tub. The hot tub was the perfect temperature. We had one small problem with the heating but this was sorted very quickly and a courtesy call was made to check it had all been sorted. Couldn’t fault anything.

Booked this lodge, expecting a lake view from the hot tub, this to us was the selling point.

Unfortunately there is a huge bush now grown in front, covering the see through fence and around 2 feet above the fence and the width completely blocking the view. We sent the listed picture and how it looks now, but got a message saying it was out of our control and would be passed to the owner. Such a shame as the lodge is in an amazing spot. Needs a deep clean. Having said that we had an amazing time, out and about visiting all around the area. Trim the bush right back and the views would be amazing!

A beautiful holiday home in a fantastic lakeside position we thoroughly enjoyed the week.

Quite a few cobwebs but otherwise clean throughout. Facilities were second to none.

We had a lovely 3 nights stay.

The lodge was very clean and had a fantastic view over the lake. We would definitely stay here again, a great base for a trip to the lakes.

On arrival unfortunately there were ladies dirty pants and towels in the bedroom wardrobe but this did not spoil our holiday.

The views were beautiful and the overall cleanliness was fine. One toilet roll in each toilet and half a kitchen roll were all that was left. Bring everything with you tea coffee sugar kitchen roll liquid soap as again enough for 2 days. The holiday was most enjoyable and plenty to do even found some woods on the site. Sat down to book for the same time next year but there was an increase of almost 50% so way out our price bracket. Although a lovely cabin will need to seek alternative accommodation.

We have stayed at Sunny Brow lodge quite a few times and we have never been disappointed!

The owner continues to update and decorate, it's always immaculate! We love staying there as the location is also perfect! We were hoping to continue this yearly tradition, but the increase in tarriffs for next year is making this doubtful.

The lodge was amazing we had a fabulous stay the weather was fantastic.

We had such a relaxing stay the hot tub was very powerful and the views were spectacular. The accommodation was brilliant and very comfortable; the only downside was the walk in wardrobe needs painting and some of the woodwork.

The Lodge had all facilities required, location, it was clean comfortable and warm.

We have been to the lakes several times and go every year in fact.

I would have loved to have rebooked this lodge again and again due to its stunning views and hot tub position and recommend to friends/family/business associates who we know that stay at the lakes like us and are use to staying in nice/expensive accommodation but unfortunately just couldn’t recommend in its current state. It’s such a shame as the position to the lake with those views are truly lovely and it wouldn’t take a lot to restore the lodge to its former beauty. The lodge is ‘fine’ and is just really tired with certain things needing to be replaced to continue its current pricing level and wanting good reviews. I had read reviews about the cleanliness and was worried as this is something that’s a high priority on my list but to be honest I think the cleaners do the best they can in the circumstance, I didn’t feel that it was a cleanliness issue, in fact somethings just now need to be replaced as they have gone too far, such as the oven. The walls, skirting and door frames are marked quite a lot, especially in the master bedroom and so I think this gives the impression of it not being as clean as it could be and so it looks a bit knocked about. It needs repainting/glossing basically. The whole kitchen area needs replacing as the cupboard fronts have blown next to the oven and again it looks just at the end of its life and looking worse for wear. The coffee table needs replacing in the lounge as it has blistered in places and again just gives the impression of no-one really checking on the lodge and replacing things when needed and that such things being broken or not being replaced is okay for the paying guest. The headboard in the master bedroom is all frayed down the one side which gives a terrible impression when you walk into the room. The sofas and chairs in the lounge (and cushions) all need replacing as they don’t look that clean but again I think they are just very well used and over due for replacement now. I have stayed in a few luxury lodges and in my experience because everything is so nice and you are use to having nice things at home, you look after things the way you would at home and keep them to the standard they are at. But even when I got the vacuum out, it didn’t pick anything up and it also needed replacing/fixing and so it felt like I wouldn’t really make a difference and that you are lowering your standards to just keep things at the level they are at in the lodge. I could see that there have been things that have been done more recently and you can tell, the curtains, dinning room chairs and bathrooms all look to have not been long done. The bedding was lovely and clean and the beds very comfortable. Like I say such a shame because a super little business that a moderate investment to update the above and it would be back on track to get its previous comments/reviews. We would go back if it was to be refurbished in the areas I mentioned but not in it current condition unfortunately.

My only issue was the Christmas hamper we paid for.

It wasn’t worth £35 and the food was out of date. We added up the prices on the back and the whole thing in total cant have been more than £12

Lovely clean and so comfortable lodge with perfect mountain veiws.

Beds where so comfortable and cozy. Will definitely book this lodge again. We come 3 times a year and have stayed in quiet a few of their lodges. This one is up there with our favourite. Staff at the club house can't do enough too. Thank you for another lovely stay.

Beautiful lodge to stay in and lovely views of the Lake.

Only downside was the cleanliness of the lodge. But overall enjoyed our stay.

The lodge was “sufficient” in that it was nice and was in a lovely location.

It was let down by the cleanliness. To be paying a premium for a “luxury” lodge we would expect the lodge to be spotless. Especially during times like these with covid still being an issue. A welcome pack would be another little touch which would be expected in luxury accommodation. That said, the lodge was nice and at a stunning location. The hot tub was huge, worked fine and perfectly clean. We would return but not for a premium price.

Yes although we enjoyed our holiday there were two major issues.

Firstly we tried to put the heating by following the instructions on the instrument panel but nothing worked and secondly the place was a little grubby in places but the oven was a disgrace it was filthy so much so that we refused to use it, greasy and crumbs and bits of food left in it. I look forward to hear your response.

No eating plates provided only side plates as only cooked breakfast we managed that was the only minor thing fantastic lodge everything provided would recommend a stay here

Very disappointed with the cleanliness of the Lodge.

The floor was filthy as were the cushions, furniture and work surfaces. The handle on the hoover was broken which kept coming apart and couldn't be used. On the positive side, the Lodge is in a very good location with beautiful views across the lake.

Totally enjoyed our stay in our lodge only complaint is that the freezer needed defrosted drawers kept sticking and then the door would stick sometimes .

Also the main building at White Cross bay the swimming scenario of the changing rooms being closed at swim times would of been better if they were open if you have cleaners they could easily have cleaned them if toilets are open couldn’t see why the changing rooms weren’t .

Yes we all enjoyed ourselves very much love white cross bay as it as all we need on site and it is a great base as we love to travel all over the place to see as much as we can while we are on our vacation loved sunny brow lodge and we will be booking with you again thanks Paul from Hull

Pleasant stay in the Lakes

Accommodation was very comfortable and plenty big enough for 4 adults and 2 children. Lodge provided everything we needed for a pleasant holiday. Although the accommodation was cleaned on arrival, the attention to detail could have been a little more thorough - hoovering of the carpets (rectified by us emptying the hoover cylinder and doing it ourselves) / general dusting - but overall the accommodation was good, warm and comfortable. Location of lodge was excellent and park facilities as good as on previous visits - will be returning to the park in the future as suits our needs well. Overall a pleasant stay with good level of service received from Lake District Lodge Holidays who offered a simple and straightforward booking procedure. We booked Sunny Brow for a family holiday for my husband's 50th birthday. The location is superb and could not be faulted. However, we were quite disappointed with a few aspects of the accommodation. It seemed somewhat neglected and in need of some updating. The patio furniture was broken - the table had previously been repaired, but was still broken and we were unable to have any meals on it. The hot tub area was in need of modernisation and the deck cleaning and restaining. The hot tub itself was old and not all of the jets worked. Inside the lodge the walls all needed decorating and the carpets were dirty, particularly around the radiators and corners were there was a clear build up of dirt. Also the bathrooms were tired and all had mould around all the seals. The complimentary milk that was left for us to use was out of date. The fridge was in need of repair as we couldn't put anything heavy, like milk in the door as the tray was coming away from the door. The freezer was in desperate need of defrosting. There was dust in many areas of the lodge, and the bedrooms were tired. The pillows for decoration on the bed were dirty and needing washing. However, we did have a great stay, the weather was fantastic and we had the perfect location, but it was sad to see that this had been a once loved lodge, and I got the impression it was up for sale and the love had gone. First class stay

we had a fabulous time and the view from the cabin was fantastic.I have been recommending it to all my friends so hopefully they will visit.I couldn't fault the place.The only 2 small issues where the shower head in the ensuite needs a good descale and clean and the rubber on the glass shower screen in the other bathroom needs replacing.The hot tub was a god send and I wish to thank you for all your help.I did get Simon and Mark 6 bottles of real Ale but didn't realise they did not work from the site so a big thankyou there.... Nice location - accommodation needing some attention

The outside of the lodge is in serious need of renovation and was quite scruffy. The lodge (particularly the bathrooms) were not as clean as they could have been - lots of black build up in the showers which needed cleaning away. Damp smell in the living room by the verandah door (coming from the sofa I think) and a very dirty oven. Other than that it was a good location and the standard of accommodation was ok. Family Holiday

We stayed at Sunny Brow for 4 nights with our grown-up children and their partners. The accommodation was spacious for 6 adults and was equipped with everything we needed. It was in an excellent location within the park and the hot tub was well used by everyone. Couldn't fault a thing. Lodge was perfectly set out, immaculate & the hot tub was amazing. We took our own bbq as we weren't sure if there would be one provided, there was one there but unfortunately whoever used it last left it filthy so shame on them! The location of lodge was perfect for the kids as there was no traffic there and we were right on the lakeside. I would say it would benefit from a new outside table & chairs as a couple of chairs were broken, having said that we just brought a couple of dining chairs outside. Ideal location to enjoy our first experiences of The lake District.

We could not have asked for a better location - views of Windermere and it's surrounds on opening the curtains each morning. Hot tub provided relief for aching muscles each evening! The lodge was comfortable and suitably equipped. The site was clean, quiet and the facilities were good too...providing entertainment for the kids! Thank you

The Sunny Brow is a beautiful lodge with a great location. It is situated right near the lake. The scenery is stunning. The local shop is only a 10 minute walk away and there are lovely walks close by. We all loved our stay and will definately return in the future. I highly reccommend it! lovely stay at sunny brow

Have spent a lovely week at sunny brow in the lake district. The lodge was situated right next to the waters edge which is very nice indeed. My one concern is that a tree is planted right in front of the lodge and obscures some of the amazing views available. The lodge is very nice and comfortable but it does need a little bit of a make over just to put it back on top again. The area of white cross bay is beautiful and the views amazing. Overall I would recommend sunny brow to anyone who wants a nice relaxing place to stay whilst in the lakes. We will be going back for sure. Second in we have stayed in the lodge and once again we had a great time. A wonderful spacious lodge in excellent location

This really is a lovely three bedroomed, very spacious lodge with walk in wardrobe so plenty of storage for bags and an open plan living area which looks out on to Lake Windermere. There is ample parking for 2 cars (or even 3 if they are small!) It is a well furnished lodge with everything you could need and any problems are swiftly dealt with. The location on White Cross Bay is fantastic as you can use the leisure facilities (pool and gym) and there's a pub on site with very reasonably priced food (we didn't eat there but the food looked good with good sized portions) It's just a shame you can't book the weather too! Great place.

Lodge was lovely with an almost perfect location. ( there was a boat blocking our view of the lake ) Comfort of the lodge was excellent. Was always warm and beds and lounge provided great comfort. Perfect location to stay in the lakes

The lodge is in a perfect location overlooking the lake & the hot tubs a nice touch our son enjoyed. The site is very well maintained and the facilities were excellent, we enjoyed the pool & the on site restaurant. To make this the perfect break we felt the lodge could've been cleaner - for example mould in the shower, stains on some carpets, dusty areas within the accommodation. A relaxing break with friends

Our second time at Whitecross Bay and again was very good, made a lot better however with the view of the lake and the sun setting behind the fells whilst enjoying a beer within the hot tub. a very comfortable lodge and felt just like being at home with some added benefits. Sunny Brow is well situated close to the Lake with a grassed area with benches to site on. We were lucky in late April to have the best weather we have ever had in the Lakes blue clear Shys all week. We would certainly stay in the same Lodge, we have already booked again for May 2016 this time will all the Family. One point to first time visitors using Sat Nav the post code given takes you down a drive at the backof the site, you need to keep going down the Road a bit further until you see the large Site Signage. Sunny Brow,

This was our second visit to sunny brow. The first time was fantastic because the weather was wonderful. This time we had torrential rain for two out of the four days so not as good, however the accommodation was very comfortable, the location with the lake view was as beautiful and we would be happy to recommend sunny brow to our friends. The availability of wheelchair hire would be helpful. We had to get one from the visitor centre in Bowness. Also you only get one fob to open the barrier per accommodation. There was six of us in two cars and both parties wanted to go out at different times so only having one fob was a bit inconvenient. Superb Location

On arrival we were very impressed with the layout of the lodge which was clean, comfortable and well equipped with wonderful views across the lake. Would definitely go back. Our stay at Sunny Brow

After staying at Sunny Brow last year I did a review as requested. The sink in the main bedroom on suite, I reported that the plug needed attention as it allowed water to drain quickly from the sink when it was filled, on our stay this time it was still the same, even after I was told it would be rectified. This year the shower heads were faulty, some of the plates and cups were chipped and not nice to use. Plus there are two very smelly damp patches, one in the second bedroom, behind the bedside table nearest the window, the wall and skirting board was black with damp, the second in the walk in wardrobe near the electric supply. The venetian blinds in the lodge were broken and in a very dirty condition. I was also told last year that the decking was going to be repainted, it hadn't and looked a mess. The lodge is looking rather tired and in need of an upgrade. I'm sorry to say we won't be booking this lodge again. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The weather and scenery. relaxing stay

I first of all have to say we had a wonderful relaxing holiday at Sunny Brow. The site is kept in an immaculate condition throughout, a credit to your grounds staff. The lodge was superb, the hot tub even better, but couldn't get the tv in the bedroom working. The view was fantastic, perhaps fitting a perspex window in the railing would make it even better. Staff round site were approachable and helpful and there were no problems with noise or disturbance. We had a very, very nice stay and we will be back for our third visit. Sunny Brow in July

Sunny Brow is a spacious clean lodge with good facilities, very comfortable, good sized beds, walk in wardrobe in main bedroom, easy parking next to lodge. It has a nice outlook onto the lake but this is spoilt somewhat by the lodge being right next to the boat launching/ walking access to the lake- there are constant passers by so its not very private and not very quiet ,especially if you like a lie in on holiday ! It would be helpful if this was made clearer on the advert. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to cook in, and everything was nicely presented. Great bathroom and shower . En-suite in main bedroom could do with some tlc and updating. Hot tub was lovely ,but showing its age, and again ,not very private .Also no base for the parasol,so couldn't put it up. It was all really really good, location, quality of the lodge, standard of fixtures and fittings and provided things in the lodge was also great and appreciated, facilities in the park were great. On the whole definitely a good spot. Only a few minor things which are easily fixed. 1. The shower in the ensuite bathroom to the master bedroom - the head of the shower came off the first time we used it. We managed to push it back on / re-assemble it but then the flow was some what of a trickle and we were very wary in case it flew off again. 2. The TV in the bedroom we couldn't get actual TV channels on it, said no signal 3. Given the size with 3 bedrooms for 6 people and parking for two cars having one barrier fob was insufficient and only one could be obtained form reception. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The river Rothay between Grasmere and Rydal water is perfect for children under 4 to paddle in. Also high/upper Sweden Bridge welcome after the walk up.

'Room with a view'

A first class lodge for our party of six; Mum who is 84yrs, myself & hubby, my daughter & hubby, and our grandson 8yrs old. Bedrooms and sizes of beds were excellent, especially the twin beds, as we have experienced narrower ones in other self-catering units. There is plenty of comfortable seating in the lounge area, and a large accommodating dining table. The location of the lodge is good, near to the lake, and the only thing stopping it from being an excellent view at the moment, is a spreading tree growing in front of the lodge. This was the only major downfall of our stay, but not enough to stop us from re-booking the same lodge for next year! What did you enjoy most about your stay? The location and comfort of the lodge. Sunny in all ways!

We book the accommodation without reading a great deal about it. The park location is fantastic. Very close to Windermere and Ambelside. The lodge its self is lovely. Great views across the lake as you are only 100m from the shore. We found the accommodation very spacious and well equipped. All three bedroom are very spacious and the master suite with ensuite and walk in wardrobe are amazing. We had a great week and managed to not get wet for 6 day and even saw some sun. Must be the lodge that helped. My only slightly negative comment is that the decking and hot tub are showing there age and need little TLC. This in know way detracted from the holiday. from the initial booking process with Lake District lodge holidays through to the last day of our stay we have been so impressed. excellent communication and superb lodge. we reported that some lights were off and a canny fella was round to sort them. the lodge itself was beautiful and the view was great. the privacy was maintained by a rather large tree, some might take issue with this as it somewhat blocks the view - you can't have it both ways! I honestly would t hesitate in using this company again and in hiring the same lodge. we will most certainly be back for more! Great location

Loved our stay in Sunny Brow. The lodge overlooked the lake and the views where amazing. The lodge itself was really nice, but there where just a couple of things that would of made our stay even better. The curtains in the main bedroom smelled of damp, but to the extent that you could smell it on the other side of the room. They definitely need cleaning more (if they've ever been cleaned before). Some of the plates and bowls where not clean so had to clean them all before using them, also the oven tray was not clean and still had bits of food on from the previous guests. These are tiny things that can be resolved quickly and it certainly wouldn't stop me from staying again (as long as those curtains get cleaned!). We had a wonderful stay at White Cross Bay in Sunny Brow lodge which has an amazing location. The park itself was lovely, extremely well kept and maintained. It was very useful having the pub on site if we didn't want to wander far on an evening and the food was really good. The position of Sunny Brow is good and well equipped. A comfortable spot to cope with some of the worst weather the Lakes could throw at us. As soon as we arrived into the resort we were pleased. The reception service was quick and efficient. The lodge was AMAZING. Modern clean and spacious. The decking area had amazing views of Windermere and the hot tub was FANTASTIC. The ensuite room had so much space with a fab walk in wardrobe. The other rooms were also fab. This was a return visit as we were evacuated during storm Desmond in December. The site has undergone a massive cleanup and our lodge had a new hot tub and balustrade. It is situated in an amazing position with views of Lake Windermere We had a fabulous stay. All the staff are so helpful and any problems are sorted quickly. We will definitely be returning. Fantastic hot tub break

Myself and 5 friends had a 3 night break at Sunny Brow lodge and can't recommend it enough. The lodge is beautiful, in a fantastic location and even with full occupancy there was plenty of space to relax. The hot tub did stop heating on day 2 due to the water level dropping too much (something to do with us all getting in and out no doubt!) and it may be worth including in the written instructions to keep an eye on the water level. As soon as we reported it to the Lodge Hire company they came straight out to fix it, despite it being Saturday teatime. The site is in a great location with many places within walking distance (if you like a good walk) the facilities onsite looked fine too but we didn't use them on this occasion apart from the shop. The only small criticism would be that the site reception staff were a bit unfriendly but they were efficient enough and gave me all the information I needed. What did you enjoy most about your stay? We had the most amazing break here - the lodge is spotless throughout with all the mod cons you could ever wish for. We were blessed with good weather mainly so sitting in the hot tub watching the sun twinkling off the lake was the one of many highlights of our holiday. We choose here as the location for our first break with our 4 month old daughter, the lodge was excellent, clean and well equipped for all our needs. Sunny Brow Fab Break for 4 Ladies on a walking weekend to the lovely Lake District

We are a group of 4 friends who like to go walking. We wanted a handy base for walking around Windermere and found Sunny Brow to be in a great location. The reviews were favourable, so we booked our stay and so happy that we did. The arrangements could not have been easier, all done by email and all very easy. Questions answered fully and directions very clear. We found the lodge to be easily accessible, very clean and tidy upon arrival and perfect for our stay; 2 double bedrooms (1 with en-suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and dressing table, and 1 twin bedroom. Cutlery and crockery covers everything you could need and excellent kitchen equipment and facilities. The view out onto Windermere was lovely, really good position. We LOVED the hot tub and it was so easy to use. After a long walk, it was blissful to sit in a warm hot tub facing out over Windermere! The Boathouse pub and restaurant on-site is also to be recommended, with a good choice of food and friendly staff. Sunny Brow is a winner and I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone. Family break

This lodge is set in a good location and the views over the lake are amazing. We stayed Monday till Friday could've stayed longer so relaxing and the hot tub is lovely. The lodge has all facilities home from home. The sun shone for us while we were there so we couldn't ask for more. Sunny Brow shines on wonderful Windermere

Sunny brow is situated on one of the best locations within White Cross Bay holiday park. The view is exceptional being close to the edge of Lake Windermere. Children can feed the ducks, geese and swans and with their fishing nets can catch little tidler fish. There are picnic tables where you can watch the activities on the lake and if the weather is inclement there are plenty of other attractions in the lake district. The lodge itself has its own hot tub which was a magnet for our 9 year old grandson and has a supply of dvd's and board games if you don't want to venture out if it's raining. Lovely stay

We had a lovely stay at the lodge great views of the lake and the hot tub was perfect. Good base for our long weekend. Plenty of room in the lodge and it was comfortable for the six of us. We would have liked more clothes hangers between us all and a sharp knife for preparing food in the utensils. Maybe a hairdryer would be good to save packing and taking your own. There were some dusty and cob webs bits around Windows and corners but generally still ok overall for cleanliness. Eating out was good but need to plan and book ahead at busy times. Relaxing family break at Sunny Brow.

Visited Sunny Brow on a very wet weekend in August. Despite the weather we had a lovely relaxing stay as we met there as a family to celebrate two birthdays. The lodge is in a quiet location on a busy park and has a lake view. The lodge is well equipped to a high standard, comfortable and roomy. The hot tub provided a new experience of being warm and relaxed outside in a downpour. Altogether a lovely family weekend and we hope to visit again. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Fantastic New Year stay at Sunny Brow

We had a most fabulous stay at this lovely lodge on the shores of lake Windermere. We were delighted with the standard of the property. Loads of room for 5 adults, very cosy and ideally located. The hot tub was the highlight of our stay and the experience of sitting in the tub overlooking the lake with a glass of champagne was awesome. A couple of issues were that we had spent time in the tub in New Year's Eve and were looking forward to a nice soak after our walk over Loughrigg on New Year's Day and were disappointed to find it cold. There was a notice to say if the water level dropped significantly it may need topping up but it had hardly dropped at all. It still cut out so we weren't able to use it again during our stay as although we filled it up as soon as we realised, it wasn't in time for it to warm up enough to use it again before we left. The other issue was that the kitchen area was not that clean when we arrived- the bin under the sink hadn't been cleaned at all and the fridge and hob were not fully clean. The rest of the property appearded to have been well cleansed, it was just the kitchen. What did you enjoy most about your stay? NEW YEAR GETAWAY

We recently visited with family & friends. The lodge was lovely and in a fantastic location overlooking lake Windermere. The hot tub was great and we enjoyed chillaxin of an evening with a drink or two. The lodge had everything we needed to enjoy our 4 night break. The only issue we had was when I cut my hand quite badly on a knife & the lodge had no first aid kit. My husband tried the site shop & reception, but neither had any first aid supplies. He had to drive to the local village to buy a medical kit. Apart from that little blip, we had a fantastic time and will definitely return. What did you enjoy most about your stay? A Lodge with a spectacular view

Sunny Brow is a lovely lodge in a prime location on White Cross Bay. The lodge is spacious and well decorated and has all the facilities you'd need for a pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable stay. A particularly good design feature is the entrance hallway and adjacent storage cupboard. So important when you're coming in on a wet weather day. A hot tub on the decking area is clean and warm, making it ideal in almost any weather. Overall a very nice lodge to stay in with a view to die for! What did you enjoy most about your stay? Great Lodge, fantastic views over the Lake

Stayed here the beginning of June 17 with a group of friends. The lodge is well laid out with 3 decent sized bedrooms. The master bedroom has a large walk in wardrobe which is very useful for storage, and an en-suite with shower. The Living area has plenty of seating and opens right out to the front decked area. The location of the hot tub is excellent, making full use of the lake view, with good access back into the Lodge. The location is good for people watching! Negative aspects were that some of the fixtures and fittings were a little 'tired' and there did seem to be a lack of storage space in the kitchen cupboards. Overall this is a great lodge, having stayed in a couple of other lodges at White Cross Bay, I would be most likely to consider booking Sunny Brow again. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Our stay at Sunny Brow

An amazing week stay! The view was breath taking waking up and having breakfast with the view of the lake was amazing and after a long day out sitting in the hot tub watching the little boats go past was really relaxing. We was worried for space as we was a family of 5 adults, a kid and our big dog but we had so much room in the lodge. We will be booking again soon with a couple of friends. The lounge had enough sofas for us all to sit down and we found games which my nephew really enjoyed. There was a few things that we didn't like: there was no coat hangers in none of the waredrobes and wasn't enough space to fold away clothes, was looking forward to using the walk in wardrobe but ended up just putting the suitcases in there as couldn't hang anything up. In the master and double room there should of been a TV but the master didn't have one. My husband and I ended up leaving a night early due to our bed being very uncomfortable it would be ok for two nights but no longer, the master and twin room beds felt lovely but this will not stop us from booking again will just take hanger and sleep in the master room next time. Had a fantastic weekend at Sunny Brow. Upon arrival the cabin looked very clean and smelt fresh. Hot tub was already done for us ready to jump in. Beds were really comfy, had great nights sleep. kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possible need. Only problem was there was nowhere to store any food at all. We only have one complaint and that was the overgrown bush at the front of the cabin which blocks the lovely veiw of the lake when your sat down on the patio. This was the main reason why we booked this cabin because of the view. Hopefully this will be dealt with by the manager before our next visit. Very good lodge and location

The lodge is in a very very good location in the site, right next to the lake and just down the road from the club, enough space to park 4 cars outside the lodge comfortably too. The lodge inside is bigger than expected, well presented and laid out and provides everything that you need. The walk in wardrobe in the master bedroom is massive and a great storage space. The views from the hot tub is clearly the best thing about the lodge and you can easily spend all day in there watching the world go by. The only thing that would improve it is a cover or umberella for when it's raining and you still want to be in the hot tub. What did you enjoy most about your stay? A beautiful lodge in the greatest of positions by the lake. There is everythinges you need in the lodge from toilet rolls to bath towels. The hot tub was lovely especially on a cold rainy day. Relaxing holiday at Sunny Brow.

We had a wonderful and relaxing holiday at Sunny Brow, the views from the lodge were amazing across Lake Windermere. My daughter just loved the hot tub and the lodge was very warm and comfortable. The lodge did seem a bit tired in places, but this certainly did not distract from our holiday by any means.The whole experience of booking through Lake District Lodge holidays was brilliant, if you had any queries or problems the staff dealt with it straight away, and were all very friendly. Every single bit of our stay at White Cross Bay was fantastic, staff extremely helpful guiding me to the nearest garage as my car only just made it! Fantastic facilities including Parkwide Wi-Fi, restaurant and bar. Enjoyed our stay

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely place to stay. And a fantastic view. All the staff were lovely and helpful. A few things could be improved on the cabin itself. All the pots were filthy and had to be washed before we could use them. Couldn't use any pans or trays as they were that old and used everything burnt and stuck to it. A brolly or gazebo over the hot tub would be a really good idea so even though it rains you can still use it. Apart from those little things we had a fantastic time at sunny brow. Lovely Lodge with a great view of the lake

Lovely spacious lodge, well equipped, with a nice deck and hot tub. Good location - easy to get around to places of interest, we visited Beatrix Potters Hill Top Farm, and Grasmere and Keswick - some of our favourite places. The site was bigger than we thought, and at peak times would probably be quite noisy and busy, this was not a problem for our break, but in future we would probably look for a smaller quieter site. Beautiful location

This was a lovely family break for us. We stayed hers mon-fri 4 adults and 2 infants. The lodge is in a fantastic location. And very clean with everything you need. Comfortable beds and very cosy. The only thing i would say qas the hot tub could do with being made more private maybe some bamboo put on the decking to make it more private, as people walk past and can see straight through the fence whilst getting in. Second stay at Sunny Brow

After staying in Sunny Brow lodge last year with friends, we decided to return again this year. The lodge is in a fantastic location, with a great view of the lake. The hot tub/decking area of the lodge is fairly exposed due to it's location right beside the slipway, however it's good for people watching, so I don't feel that this is necessarily a negative!. The decking area to the front of the lodge has been extended with the hot tub nicely located at the edge to maximise the lake views. The lodge itself is nicely appointed, with 3 decent sized rooms, and 2 bathrooms. Beds are comfortable, and plenty of space to hang clothes etc. The main bedroom has a large walk in wardrobe which is ideal for extra storage. The lounge is well designed to enjoy the lake view, and there's plenty of seating for 6 adults which is a bonus. The waste bins are ideally suited just opposite the lodge, along with additional parking spaces, which is very handy. Would not hesitate to book this lodge again. Well what can i say, we spent another amazing time at Sunnybrow cabin. Well done on the new and improved decking and hottub. Was too hot to use the hottub so we took advantage of the Lake (along with half the guests on the park) lol, which was lovely. Never thought i would be swimming in Lake Windermere. Only fault that i need to mention is the fridge. It just doesnt work properly. Took 2 days to freeze the ice cubes and that was on the highest setting also the fridge just wasnt cold enough or big enough for all the food and drinks. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Lovely positioned lodge at Whitecross Bay with fantastic view from hot tub but was let down by condition of lodge needed good clean and decor looking abit tired and shabby in places, dirty plates left in kitchen cupboard. Bed in main bedroom very uncomfortable even though it has memory foam topper woke up stiff and aching back every morning and tv missing from room which would have been nice to have as stated in details. Bed in spare room had king size base at top of bed and double base on bottom with king size mattress on top totally unsuitable for size of room and caused an accident to big toe!!! Sunny sunny brow

Me and my family had a great weekend on the lake,I would say it is the best positioned lodge in the site.Weather was fantastic kids had a ball.Hot tub amazing.Lodge could do with a freshen up .nothing major .Would certainly book this lodge again.visted bowness for the day.boat trip was brill .Had lunch at the Albert really decent . Beautiful location very comfortable and well equipped

Brilliant Lodge in a Great Spot on the site

We had a lovely time at the lodge , its such a nice spot overlooking the lake ,cant think of anything not nice to say about it and loved our time there Thank You Mrs S Lee and Family . Superb location

Really well located lodge with lake views. Nicely laid out lodge with good stocks of crockery etc. Looks a little tired in places. Second bedroom wardrobe has a lot of mould in but plenty of storage space. Main bedroom slightly uncomfortable mattress but thats being picky. It was a joy sitting in the hot tub looking at the lake. We would definitely stay here again. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Relaxing at the end of the day in the hot tub. We were very lucky with the weather. Amazing view. Location, Location, Location

Family celebration weekend at this comfortable clean lodge. The Jacuzzi made it for us all. Had worried about some of the previous posts, but we found the lodge very comfortable and clean and well equipped.. We did have a problem with the heating but maintenance were very prompt to sort this out. Chose this property as the third bedroom was two full size single beds and not bunks, so suited our requirementsWe would return. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Clear View

This was a lovely lodge, close to the water. We where able to sit in the hot tub and look over the lake. The same could not be said from inside until we cleaned the outside of the front windows. Beautiful

Visited white cross bay a few times before but first time staying at sunny brow, beautiful, comfortable, spacious lodge in a great location. Sitting on the decking area looks straight out to the lake which is unreal views especially watching the sunset in the hot tub. Plenty of activities for adults and children to enjoy as white cross bay is in a perfect location, I would highly recommend south lakes safari, we had an amazing day out there. Excellent break

Execellent stay

Nice lodge, lots of issues with the park

The lodge was lovely - glad we chose one by the lake - nice and light and great having the hot tub with the view of the lake. We had quite a few issues with White Cross Bay park though. Nobody ever picked up the phone or responded to messages at reception and we got stuck unable to leave the park on our second day because we didn't know the code (the barrier was open when we arrived and we followed the instructions to not to go to reception, but then it was up the next day). Lake District Lodge Holidays were helpful and responsive and we got the code from them and by eventually going to reception (face masks not compulsory!). However I couldn't find a phone number for them anywhere and had to wait a while for them to respond to my email. Second issue was cleanliness - some of the plates were totally filthy - lots of food stuck on. Didn't reassure me that they were following whatever covid cleaning protocols are in place. Finally, the internet was terrible. Often we'd get back late afternoon and they'd be no internet until the next morning. Thankfully there was a mobile signal, if not a great one, so we could tether via our phones. Lake District Lodge Holidays said this was a perennial issue at the park and was unlikely to be sorted out until next year, so I don't think we were just unlucky. A chalet with a view

Loved our few days away. In these dire times of Covid we were able to happily self isolate and catch up on old times, visiting many of our old haunts from 50years ago. Fabulous lodge in great location

Fabulous lodge on a well maintained site. Have used this Lodge at least 3 times with my family (including grandchildren). It is really well appointed and of very high standard of decor and comfort. Has absolutely everything you need

This lodge was extremely clean and in a great location. I had forgotten to bring some items & managed to find everything I needed there. My children loved it & the dog too. Beautiful, clean and cosy

A beautifully presented lodge and great getaway. Very happy with size, cleanliness, location of lodge. Nice warm and cosy just like a home from home experience. As a family of 4 there was more then enough space for us all to spread out and hot tub location with view was just perfect. Would return to this lodge in the future.
