What guests are saying
This was actually nicer than described.
Good condition and semi private positioning made hot tub a real bonus. Cost for swimming access is per stay so too expensive for a couple of nights. And there general reception isn’t helpful for issues around the lodging - you need to phone the host. Better instructions and clearer code would avoid having to call the host. Albeit, she was very helpful and didn’t sound irritated on our second call. Inside of property was lovely and clean. Like some others have said, the decking would benefit from clearing from moss and a tidy up. And maybe a couple of overhanging branches pruned back. Also, could do with one big saucepan for room of 6.
Footprints lodge is in a very good location close to all the bar/restaurant, very small arcade, play areas and entertainment of Parkdean.
Upon arriving, the place looked clean but didn't have that clean smell as if a place had been cleaned. The fridge could do with a good scrub but overall was used for our stay. There were no dishwasher tablets which isn't a big deal but for people who don't want to wash up, I'd recommend bringing some. Hot tub was a winner, we used it everyday and it was well maintained during our stay. The place is a bit run down and could do with a power jet wash on the patio. Wanted to use the BBQ but there's mould all over it. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned or used in a long time. The beds were comfy and rooms are spacious. I would stay again despite these comments. It's in a great location close to Bowness, Ambleside and Brockhole. Also, if you want to use the swimming facilities of Parkdean, apparently it costs £15 per person. What a rip off. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children under 6.
The owner of Footprints Lodge couldn't have been more helpful or curious when we needed to contact her due to a boiler/ burst pipe issue when we arrived.
We were getting married the next day, and she rallied to help us, and then dropped of a bottle of bubbly and a card the following day :). Overall the Lodge was clean and well appointed. Our only real issue was the beds, especially the double. The mattress is either incredibly soft or has failed altogether, this was the only thing that would stop us from returning. Overall though we had a lovely few days away.
