Limefitt Park is in the beautiful Troutbeck valley, surrounded by glorious fells yet just four miles away from the buzz of Windermere village.
Rowan is a traditional lodge in the Pinewood area of Limefitt Park.
It enjoys a delightful, peaceful position backing onto woodland where wildlife abounds and you may spot a badger roaming by.
Rowan offers a cosy and comfortable retreat – the perfect welcome after a long day hiking.
Rowan benefits from its own dedicated unlimited broadband connection.
With open plan living area, two bedrooms and one bathroom, it’s a lovely spot to base yourself for a break.
Wherever you are on the Park, you’ll enjoy nature and woodlands, and the Trout Beck runs through the park, and has some picnic areas, near the children’s playground.
There’s also a pub on site, which is dog-friendly, and a small shop, children’s playground and nearby you can enjoy pony-trekking with a third party provider.

Limefitt Park sits in the beautiful tranquil valley of Troutbeck and is just over three miles from Windermere village.
From the Park, you can walk through the fields to the fabulous pub The Queens Head, and round the corner to the Mortal Man.
If you like log fires, real ales and great food you’ll be happy!
Carry up over the spectacular Kirkstone Pass, and there’s another ancient inn: The Kirkstone.
Then drop down and you’ll see Brotherswater – around seven miles from the Park.
Continue toward the beautiful Ullswater and the hamlet of Glenridding for more great pubs, shops, Ullswater Steamers and amazing walks.
Here you can start the ascent of Helvellyn, or the Ullswater Way which now goes all the way round this beautiful lake.

Lovely cute lodge very peaceful.
Pub onsite just a little walk . Everything you need in lodge like home from home would book again
We have had a fantastic week with our 2 dogs.
Weather perfect and position of the lodge perfect. Tucked out of the way and we were able to go walking straight from the lodge going up through the trees at the back. The bed was very comfy and the shower was fairly powerful. The downside was that the carpet in the kitchen area was quite heavily marked ( maybe have Lino down instead)as was the arm on one of the sofas . The freezer door handle needs replacing. But this would not stop me from booking this lodge again as it is in the perfect position.
This property is tiered not up to spec for the price we paid in my opinion is not fit for purpose and definitely not value for money i suggested before you let property out you check it out your self s

Comfortable accommodation and located in an ideal spot on the park if you have a dog.

The accommodation is a little worse for wear, needs a little TLC.
On arrival we was greeted with a strong smell of dogs. I have stayed at many dog friendly accommodations and they have they have never smelt so strong. Slept okay and it was nice and quiet. Lovely views. Would likely not return due to the smell and dog hairs being everywhere.

Well, arrived to an unclean cabin, once we complained to Sykes cleaners arrived promptly which was good.
Second day, electricity went off, Sykes were awful, lied it was wider issue, Park didn’t know about it but fixed it next day. Besides Sykes, Cosy cabin, great views, peaceful. Would book Park again but not through Sykes.

Came for a cosy weekend away and wasn’t disappointed!
It rained heavily on the roof as I sipped my tea by the roaring fire with my partner and my little dog. It was so comfy and homely - wouldn’t change a thing! Other than the lack of badger appearance! Definitely want to come and stay again, it really was magical.

We had a gorgeous stay in Rowan Lodge, everything was clean and well presented when we arrived.
The location on the park was great for us with the woods right on the doorstep allowing us to explore with our dog each day. Lots of useful information was provided in the folders and we enjoyed watching one of the dvds which were available in the property. We loved the cosy feel of the pine cladding and furniture and the beds were super comfy! The only slight issue was the expel air fan in the kitchen ran constantly during our stay, we tried every way we could think of to turn it off. The noise became a bit annoying as we weren't doing much in the way of cooking and the door was open regularly so it didnt need to be on. Not sure if it was faulty?

Had an absolutely lovely holiday with my family.
Not the first time I’ve stayed at Rowan lodge. Tremendous views and super comfortable. Only thing we could have done with was a fan. Weather was absolutely tremendous last week which made the lodge extremely hot. Overall an absolutely fantastic stay.

Clean & lovely cottage.
We had comfortable stay. Highly recommend . However , park has narrow driveways & expensive takeaway . Overall : would like to come back .

Easy to get everywhere, lovely log cabin with charm, would stay again
We had a wonderful weekend at Rowan in December.
.. It felt like being in the Swiss Alps (minus the snow). The only issue we had was the lack of water... We searched everywhere for a switch or stop tap and couldn't find any mention in the welcome pack. It took 3 phonecalls out on different numbers and two calls back to get answer 1 (switch looks like a shaver socket in the bathroom)... Great !.... But then water only dribbled out of the cold tap. Other phonecalls followed but luckily one of our party found the stopcock very low down in the bathroom cupboard which solved the issue. Ironically an hour later we found the instruction sheet for the water tucked away in the bookshelf. So... A small issue became a little bit of a frustration. Suggest if water is to be turned off each time, maybe pinning the sheet to the wall? The confusion of numbers in the welcome pack didn't help... Lake holidays, Dean something, site team, after hours team, owner... All confusing and passing the issue on (although very pleasant and efficient with it)... All sorted within an hour and didn't distract from a fabulous trip in a fabulous area.. We even found the second pub which we had no idea existed !

Excellent Lodge in a lovely part of the lake district.
Everything needed is provided, the Lodge is in a great position on a quiet site. There is plenty of room within the lodge & it was very warm. It is in a good location for travel around the lakes.
Just returned from Rowan lodge which was lovely and very cosy in an ideal quiet area especially for my dogs with nature all around, I note that previous guests complained about cobwebs on the decking area but surely this is just part of the nature it surrounds.
All comfortable and clean with the feel of relaxing ambiance we all need and lovely walks around the park and great pub and dog field everyone friendly. Met the lovely cleaning ladies who clearly work hard and so helpful too. Would I return absolutely! We and the dogs had a fabulous time , it’s what you make of it and close to other pubs and bowness too

We had the most amazing time at rowan lodge.
It was so cosy and warm - the location was fantastic. Loved the outdoors being right on your doorstep. Very comfy beds! The sofa was also extremely comfortable. Would definitely stay again!
We had a fantastic time here and I would definitely return.
Loved the position of the lodge. We seen deer, squirrels birds and badgers. I agree that the outside needs a good clean to dust off the cobwebs. We found the inside clean however. We had a brilliant time.
When we arrived, there were no fobs for the barrier which wasn't the owners fault it was other guests not putting them back.
The lodge looked very dirty from tne outside, the key box covered in webs. In daylight when we went on to the deck it was filthy. I had to go out and buy floor cleaner to scrub it just so we could sit outside. It was stinking of dog urine. Inside, it was little things like, no washing up liquid, no working batteries in tv remote, bedding not put on properly, dirty windows. A far cry from last year when we stayed. It really needs some tlc as it was lovely last year. This didn't dampen our holiday, it just would have been nice to not have to clean on holiday.

The lodge was nice and clean inside but maybe could do with updating - it seemed to be looking quite tired and in need of refurbishment.
The shower was very difficult to regulate and the only way to do so was to constantly run the water, which was a waste. The outside of the lodge needed a brush as there were lots of cobwebs, and the chairs and tables were quite dirty.

As a family We love Rowan lodge and limefit.
Even it the pouring rain the Lake District is a place of true natural beauty and inspiring landscapes. This is my Forth stay at Rowan lodge I look forward to my next stay and next adventure in the lakes.
We really liked our short stay at Rowan lodge, the property is positioned near woodland which was great for short walks with the dogs.
Plenty of room for 4 adults, we all found our stay very relaxing. The views from the decking are stunning
This is the second time we've stopped at Rowen Lodge.
This year the decking had been improved and the barbeque slab has been replaced. A few of the pans needed a clean and the sofa could do with a spritz of Febreze but the property was otherwise clean and comfortable. A timelapse video recorded through the window showed the badgers visiting between 12pm and 3am - they enjoyed a sprinkling of dog biscuits (and the crows finished off the leftovers at dawn) Lots of local places to visit makes this a good base for a stay in the Lakes. The only negative was Sykes customer service. I didn't notice the 5% returning customer discount until after I had booked. Sykes were unhelpful and refused to honor the discount.

A lovely little lodge, maybe could do with a bit if a care n attention.
Just little things, like grouting needs redoing I'm the bathroom carpets could do with Replacing the boiler scares the life out of you when it kicks in, I thought it was going to blow the cupboard doors off. Just a bit of an update n it would be lovely.

We are grateful to you for bringing these matters to our attention and happy to say, there are plans in the pipeline to replace the bedroom carpets over the next few months. The grouting will also be dealt with as necessary. The boiler has very recently been installed and the noise would appear to be part of its design. We will, however, contact the engineer and, if it can be toned down at all, will arrange for this to be done. We very much look forward to welcoming you back should you decide to visit the area again, in the future.
We found Rowan lodge very homely, everything we needed was to hand.
Enjoyed the peace and tranquility,the lodge was situated in a lovely private position. Only disappointment not seeing the badgers at dusk! will definitely return.

Rowan Lodge is perfectly placed for a wonderful holiday in the Lakes.
The holiday park is within easy reach of Lake Windermere and local towns and amenities, and is definitely the best placed lodge within the site. With a little bit of updating this would be fabulous, such as replacing the broken parasol, perhaps changing the gas oven to electric (we couldn’t get the gas oven to work properly) and much of the outside decking is long overdue replacing, some of the decking boards are rotting away and can cause tripping. Otherwise we had a lovely holiday, even watching the badgers (and mouse!) visit the decking at night to eat peanut butter sandwiches we’d left out for them! Perfect location, we’d definitely stay again, just needs a bit of TLC.

The property hadn't been cleaned for some time there was dust under the beds and a previous occupiers scrunchie.
Cobwebs from the lights. The decking was very badly maintained and needs replacing. The shower was very odd it kept coming apart and my husband fixed it twice while we were there this also needs replacing. A bit off putting having the owners belongings stored above the bed in the bedroom aswell. It was a lovely spot very private and we enjoyed our stay on the site especially The Haybarn but all in all I'm afraid we wouldn't return or reccomend the lodge.

Great location, lovely little cottage.
Excellent facilities on the camp, great service in the Haybarn. Cottage is simple but clean and comfy. The in house Wi-Fi is a great result and you genuinely do get to see badgers at dusk!

We enjoyed our stay here having visited Limefitt every year for around 14 years.
Although we've stopped in an identical lodge elsewhere on the park, we liked the location of this one as it was at the back of the park and its raised elevation meant it was very peaceful. A last minute discount attracted our attention, although the discount only reduced the price to what we normally pay privately elsewhere on the park... The lodged was equipped with just about everything we needed for the week and the furniture was comfortable. We didn't see the badgers but we know they visited after dark and ate the sprinkling of dog biscuits we provided. The listing and guidance in the property need some updating. After reading the guidance and bringing a disposable barbeque, we couldn't find anything that might be a "barbeque slab" and ended up using the stone steps instead. The melamine tableware referred to in the handbook wasn't there - not an issue but shows the material needs updating... Would we stop here again? Yes if the price was right!

brilliant time and saw the badgers every night on our doorstep
Thanks for your feedback. We've asked the maintenance manager to look at the grouting. We've been planning to replace the carpets in the bedrooms and this will be done during the Winter. Sorry about the boiler that's noisy when the main burner comes on.. It's new so it's probably just the design, but we will have it checked.

We've stayed in Rowan lodge numerous times now, we love the location as tucked away at the back by the woods and get to see the wildlife.
We prefer the more traditional log cabin . Limefitt is such a great location and recommend food at The Mortal Man and Queens hotel which both have footpaths from the park so you can walk there in minutes. We will defiantly return as our son loves it there.
Really nice spot, cabin was well equipped and very comfortable.
Well worth leaving some food out as the pose pesky badgers don’t miss a trick. Would definitely stay again

The lodge was fantastic.
The on site shop and pub were a slight let down as very small and food wasn't brilliant. But the actual park and the views and accommodation were all amazing.

Not the cleanist place, even furniture looked grubby.
The information guide was outdated and no recommendations for places to eat etc.

Really loved our stay at Rowan lodge, Limefitt park is set in beautiful scenery, the staff we saw were very pleasant and helpful.
lovely walks around the park, very dog friendly, which was really good as we had our 2 two with us. Longer walking on the doorstep behind the pub from which you got stunning views reaching down to lake windermere. The lodge was cosy and comfortable, hopefully will return soon, highly reccomended. As an extra bonus our late night visitor was a joy, he certainly loves peanutbutter sandwiches
Lovely positioning of the lodge, we seen the badgers at night, comfy and cosy, however was rather dirty.
There was a beer bottle under the bed, someones socks in the bedside cabinet, dirty bathroom floor and all white dog hair on the sofa. Saying that we cleaned it before we settled down and really enjoyed. I would also return, these things happen and didn't take a lot to put right.

If you are lucky enough, every now and then a deer will appear! This is our third time at Rowan Lodge and it never fails to disappoint.
A fantastic location with only a short drive to some of the most beautiful spots in the country. We will definitely be booking again soon.
The park was lovely as was lodge ,but I think more detail should have been observed on the cleaning of the lodge, I didn’t feel it had been cleaned throughly, there was a lot of hair & dirt on carpet & sofa, I did try to clean as I took my dogs but unfortunately the hoover in main bedroom was completely blocked & smaller hoover wasn’t very effective, the Crockery ,utensils & saucepans very dirty & greasy, I appreciate that you rely previous occupants but I think should be checked, sorry this isn’t positive feedback but everything else was wonderful

Gets better each time!
Second time to Limefitt and Rowan Lodge and each time it feels more like our second home! The park is in a fab location, peaceful and relaxing and the play area hits the mark for younger kids. The dog field has to be the best around too, views are spectacular. The lodge is always clean and provides all we need. Cosy with heating and gas fire for those chillier times and a big decking area to sit out on when warmer! The thought that has been put into these lodges to make your stay as enjoyable and comfortable is second to none. We love this place and will return again for our 3rd visit very soon. Enjoyed our stay at Rowan Lodge. well situated, lovely views with plenty of walks straight from the site. Plenty of walking books, guides etc provided. Rowan Lodge plus Badger(s)
Rowan Lodge and Limefitt Park were a great partnership. The location is great for accessing mWindermere, Ambleside, and glennridding The Haybarn produced excellent food, there are great play facilities for younger children, and a play field for the older ones. Even your dog has a dedicated play field! The lodge was well maintained and in a great position. The lodge's facilities were good, and the free wifi an added bonus. The owners provided everything that you could need including local walking books, maps and guides, games, dvd's and a well equipped kitchen. The evening badger show was tops! Would visit again. Great position on the park and makes us want to come back year upon year
Very welcoming arrival - great information and prompt communication from booking. Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff on our arrival. Good, well stocked on the site for basics. Rowan Lodge has a wonderfully secluded position and level of privacy, backing on to woodland. The lodge itself is well equipped to cater for most people's needs. There are numerous walks locally and further afield. We would recommend purchasing OS maps prior to your holiday. However, there are a wealth of books at the lodge. The only small criticism was that the cleanliness of the lodge could have been improved upon. On of the highlights was the many sightings of the local badgers - especially when peanut butter sandwiches were made available!! We would highly recommend this to people looking for a quiet, well secluded location and a perfect base for days of adventure. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Rowan Lodge was extremely clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay. Holiday at rowan lodge
we had a wonderful stay and the badgers were fantastic!! will deffo come again to this lodge, very homely and quiet. My teenage daughter and husband loved it too. Stay at Rowan lodge
Lovely lodge, the park is well positioned for exploring the lakes. The service in the pub in the park is dreadful, we waited over an hour for very basic food which was poorly cooked.

Really enjoyed our short break in Rowan Lodge Very comfortable roomy lodge with absolutely everything that you could want provided. Nightly visits from badgers and deer made our day!! Will be returning soon :)
Holiday breaks
Excellent location of the lodge, everything there that you would need, we would definatetly stay there again. It was an older model but full of character, if I owned the lodge I would probably paint the interior wood work cream to lighten up the lodge. But we had a great holiday, could'nt fault it really. Access problems
My daughter her partner and toddler stayed at this lodge, during their stay a new lodge was being erected adjacent to Rowan Lodge. This caused problems as a crane was used for the works and as a result they could not get access to the lodge with their car. This caused problems with them having a toddler, fortunately we were staying in Jinnyspinner lodge and they could park their car next to ours. I realise that this is not a regular occurrence, but they enjoyed the stay immensely. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Location & weather!! This was our second stay in this lodge, a great location on the park, feels very private. Great for our dogs. Loads of local walks including direct from the lodge. Already booked for next year! An Excellent stay at Rowan Lodge
We had a fantastic stay at Rowan lodge. Every step of the process was smooth from booking to confirmation. We even got a text the day before. The lodge itself was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. Cosy, warm, homely and very welcoming. It truly felt like a home from home. The fact that we could take our dog (greyhound) was a huge plus and made the weekend extremely enjoyable. Everything that you needed was already in the lodge and coming in from a long 4 hour walk in the rain, into a lovely lodge with a nice warm fire was perfect! A fantastic way to enjoy the Lake District
Rowan Lodge was a fantastic place to stay and enjoy the beauty of the Lake District. It has all the necessary items to be able to cook, relax and have a good stay. As a home away from home. The instructions left on the table were a great addition that added to our holiday. Having the bird food and notes on how to feed the badgers was a lovely touch and we really enjoyed seeing the wildlife about. We particularly liked the location of this chalet in comparison to others in the park as it has more green open space around and great views of the hills around. My stay at Rowan Lodge.
Beautiful clean site. Lodge was situated in a quiet cul de sac with grass and trees next to it. Perfect to see the Badgers deer and various birds. Lodge was cosy and had everything you needed. Took our dog so appreciated the fantastic secure dog park and the Haybarn pub which had a lovely beer garden fantastic food and was dog friendly. Will definately stay again. Who needs the Lakes?
Some of us don't need to go to the lakes and have already "bought the tea-shirt! No need to go anywhere if a mini- supermarket was on site, with competitive pricing. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT, thank you. The little hide away.
We loved the location of the lodge, just tucked away from all of the hustle and bustle. It is an older lodge but has all of the home comforts you would need. We will definately return next year. We would recommend to stay at Rowan lodge it was very homely,clean everything you could have needed was there if wanted. We took 2 dogs with us and they also loved it and was secure to let them out on the decked area on the lodge also has a secure dog field on site the children also had loads of fun both aged 11 they loved the water pool just paddling and trying to catch fish the food at the hay barn pub is highly recommended to What did you enjoy most about your stay? We stayed in this lodge last year and enjoyed it just as much this year. It has a lovely homely feel to it and we brought our dogs with us and they love the dog field. Needed a good clean
Disappointed we had to wait for the cleaners to finish. Could't get into the lodge until 3.30pm. Was supposed to be available from 3pm. Main double bed is extremely uncomfortable, I'd say it needs a new mattress. Dust all over the bedside cabinets in both bedrooms and freezer dirty! What did you enjoy most about your stay? A lovely home from home
It is a lovely lodge - warm cosy and had a more private spot on the park. We saw a woodpecker on the feeder and the badger came to visit on the patio when we put peanut butter sandwiches. Everything was just as we remembered, all we could possibly need for our stay, loved the badger visits in the evening, our dog Charlie sulked when we came home, being at Rowan Lodge and visiting the villages nearby was so relaxing and would recommend this Lodge to anyone looking for a quiet peaceful relaxing break, we will certainly return. A Wonderful Christmas Break
Perfect cabin in perfect location, Low wood Leisure Centre brilliant especially for overlooking Lake Windermere in the Hot Tub. Great bar/restaurant on site - all very doggy friendly which is important to many. Endless hot water, kitchen utensils/pans etc., stocked extensively. The only downside was the cooker (oven) which was very slow - took 6 hours to cook a Turkey joint (not whole bird) and a ham. Would definitely stay at Rowan Lodge again.

Fantastic lodge, super comfy, homely and warm. The kids liked do much they did not want to leave it. There was a TV, DVD players, videos, guides (area, birds, attractions, romans...). Rowan Lodge
Nice location on a good site, parking very tight and awkward. Didn't help that during our stay new decking was being laid to a lodge right next door so banging and sawing was rather unwelcome for the whole week (we are early out and back so mid afternoon was relax time for us or, should have been), would have been better if we'd been warned on arrival. Lodge has seen better days but comfortable and clean enough, well appointed with everything you need however, the wire mesh outside on the decking is dangerous and definitely not pet or un-shoed human friendly. Dangerous middle step on climb up to deck level (reported). Overall a very friendly site with welcoming staff and we enjoyed our stay but, very overpriced for time of year and length of stay, I seriously doubt we will re-visit. Peace and quiet!
We stayed at Rowan lodge for 3 nights and don't have a bad word to say - a family of 5, 3 children, aged 9 months, a 3 year old and a 5 year old. The lodge was clean and welcoming on arrival, a fantastic quick check in at reception and the lodge was in an excellent location. The kids were free to play out on the grassed area with no cars zooming around. A fantastic kids adventure playgroup right next to the little stream for fishing and paddling. Just perfect!!!!! The badgers made our trip super special, we saw them every night!!! We loved it at Limefitt Park and will definitely be back!! One tiny ( and it really is tiny) negative was the lodge/sofa could do with a real good vac, a few dogs hairs! But apart from that I was very happy!!! Lovely lodge in beautiful settings
Me and my family of four and our dog was pleasantly suprised when we arrived at this lodge as this was not our first choice and was pet friendly. I expected it to be dated and shabby. This was definately not the case it was brilliantly situated on the site and was comfortable, homely and clean. Would definately recommend to anyone looking for a quiet family getaway. If you want a peaceful break...
The Lake District has some amazing views with stunning landscapes to enjoy, my current favourite has to be Aira Falls at Ullswater but I'm sure there are many more just as nice that I haven't seen...yet! This was our first real break in The Lakes and it certainly wont be the last. You can relax all day and just enjoy the scenery, take a leisurely stroll or do some serious hiking, all with fantastic views all around. If you like mountain biking then there are plenty of trails for you. Take a trip into Bowness on Windermere and you'll be amazed at all the places you can eat, there really is something for everyone. I would recommend doing some online research first though as It always pays to plan ahead. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Amazing scenery and peacefulness. Summer break
This is our 3rd stay at this lodge and certainly won't be our last, it has a very homely feel to it and is nicely situated on a more secluded part of the park making it a nice relaxing break away. Excellent base for Lake District.
A lovely cosy lodge set on the far side of the park beside a small wooded area. The decking provides a superb view of the hills, or for watching the local wildlife and is a perfect sun trap. Last minute decision
Rowan Lodge may have been booked at short notice, but it is worth a return stay. The lodge is extremely clean, warm, homely and spacious. It is in a excellent location, quiet and the grounds it is set in are lovely. There was everything in the lodge we needed. Plenty of hot water to. The only small issue I had, was the mattress on the double bed. To uncomfortable for me, but my husband slept like a log. It was the wildlife that we all enjoyed as a family, feed the birds when you get there and you are rewarded with a beautiful song every morning. Leave peanut butter sandwiches out for the badgers, who are lovely to watch. Also leave out seconds as 5 minutes later another badger will follow. Also the roe deer made a appearance. The park is so clean and tidy. The only thing that lets it down is the Haybarn inn, painfully slow and very expensive. What did you enjoy most about your stay? We haven't stayed at a lodge before or at the lakes but I can honestly say it was amazing. The lodge was perfect, clean and had everything you need as well as extras that made it even better. First time there
Rowan Lodge was everything I had hoped for. Comfort, tranquil, and clean. The location on the park is excellent with having the woods next to you we were able to fed the badgers, deer, rabbits and birds. Lovely dog field so was able to let them have a good run around. A wonderful autumnal weekend break!
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break at Rowan Lodge. The traditional interior with its pine-clad walls gave a cosy, warm feel which suited the autumnal weather. The lodge had everything we needed and was extremely clean and welcoming. We had chosen to stay in this particular lodge because of its location in the park which didn't disappoint. We had wonderful views from the kitchen window of a grassy/woodland area where we managed to spot two deer, a woodpecker and an assortment of other birds. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Being amongst the beautiful landscape and wildlife of the Lake District. We saw deer and a woodpecker from our kitchen window. We put out food for the badgers but, although they came and ate the food, we missed spotting them doing so! Pound for pound, it was better value staying in the centre of Ambleside. Location not convenient for guests wishing to use public transport. What did you enjoy most about your stay? As a regular user of Log Cabins (primarily in the Dales) my wife, Chocolate Labrador and of course myself had a really relaxing stay after some long walks. A damp weekend in the Lakes
We had a lovely stay in Rowan Lodge. It was a rather damp weekend, that's the risk you take with a Spring break, but the lodge was very well kitted out even having an airer so drying 2 human coats, 2 dog coats and towels wasn't an issue. It was a lovely place to relax and just chill after a few stressful weeks at work. Lots of books on local wildlife to look at, a variety of DVD's to watch and great access to the internet. Loved watching all the birds that visited although we were gutted not to have seen the badgers - a good reason to come back again ;-) What did you enjoy most about your stay? We visited Waterhead just down the road near Ambleside and the cafe on the front was marvellous. April break
Had a wonderful relaxing stay. We booked Friday and came on the same day we arrived late at night , it was no trouble all staff were really helpful. The cabin was comfortable and well kept. I have read previous reviews and there's not much more I can add. It was first-class and I fully recommend Rowan Lodge. Of particular interest was the wildlife, namely the badgers, woodpecker and deer who were seen regularly during my stay. The location is also great for visiting areas of the Lake District. Super place
We had Rowan Lodge for a week and it was super. Lovely spot on the edge of the site next to the woodland. Badgers every night and lots of birds. Brilliant Stay At Rowan Lodge
We have stopped at this lodge 4 times now and we still love coming here. We have hit lucky with the weather the last couple of times which I think makes a big difference. We like where this lodge is for it's peaceful location. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Wonderful location, quiet and peaceful with a nice open aspect into the woods
We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at the Rowan. We chose it because of its location and because it has its own Wi-Fi access. The lodge was clean and functional. The sofas were very comfortable and having a full size fridge freezer was a bonus. The lodge heated up nicely with a powerful gas fire and efficient electric heaters (it was June but you know the Lakes!). We found that the kitchen had all the utensils we needed and the lodge had a nice big bathroom, however only a three-quarter length bath. There were comfortable chairs on the decking for when the sun shines (we sat out twice). And of course there are the badgers, who visited us every evening for their peanut butter bread squares. There were a several minor maintenance issues, which we reported and were told would be addressed, but overall we really enjoyed our stay, despite the weather. We will be booking the Rowan again for next year.
Lovely location
A cosy home from home lodge in a lovely location. We enjoyed feeding the badgers that came up to the lodge, as we have never seen badgers up that close. The lodge and the site were very clean. This was are first time at Rowan lodge, and we were not disappointed on arrival the lodge was clean, warm and has everything needed to make your stay a real pleasure. Home from home
We have been coming to this lodge for several years now, and if it ever came up for sale we would jump at the chance to buy ( if we could afford it. ) Its not modern but its quaint and has everything you need. Loved it
Rowan Lodge was beautifully positioned with lovely views from the balcony, the sofa, and first thing in the morning from the bedroom windows where you can watch the sun come up and the morning most roll away. The lodge was spacious and comfortable for us, with everything we needed, lovely selection of local books, dvds to watch and Wi-Fi. The local informatin folders were well worth a read and have some great ideas of where to walk and where to go. We could walk straight from our lodge straight into some spectacular scenery. Great place to relax and reflect
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rowan Lodge despite the awful weather!! It is a very well equipped comfortable holiday lodge in a great location in terms of peace and tranquility and the nightly badger visits to the decking. Whilst the park wifi is good, the seperate broadband facility in the lodge was a definite winner for us. The grounds are very well maintained and the staff courteous, polite and extremely helpful, a truely professional team. The Haybarn was nice for a drink and a bite to eat but was a little disappointed that they had stopped taking orders by 8pm on the Saturday evening. So it was either a trek out in the rain or cheese and biscuits back at the lodge. Would highly recommend a stay here, very welcoming and dog friendly which is a massive draw for any dog lover. We stayed at Rowan Lodge for our honeymoon, we picked this lodge for its location as we were after a quiet, peaceful place to relax with our dogs. We stayed a lot in the Lake District but this time ith was a lovely break like always but the lodge was not what we aspected Very outdated, not clean outside and the deck was very dangerous for the little ones this lodge can use a lot of Work! A cosy lodge in a beautiful location
The lodge was clean, cosy and well equipped. It's in a good location, next to the trees, to one side of Limefitt Park so is nice and quiet. Limefitt Park itself has lovely views, and a stream which my daughters enjoyed splashing about in. I can recommend it for families with children and/or dogs. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Lovely little lodge in a wonderful setting. Everything you need included. Bed super comfy. Large fridge/freezer. Home from home. Lots of wildlife visit making this an ideal spot for nature lovers. The little hide away.
We have taken our holidays in this lodge for the past 5 or 6 years. We absolutely love it . The outside of the lodge is looking a little tired as it is an older lodge but, this would not stop us from booking again. This was our second stay at the Rowan Lodge and it was every bit as enjoyable as the first time. In a perfect location in a quiet spot in the site allowing badgers to eat off the decking I an evening!! Peaceful
We were really thrilled by the lodge. The only problem we had was that we couldn't get any hot water, we reported this and someone came under the hour to get it working. We enjoyed the walks around the lodge area and met some very nice friendly people. When we went to the restaurant I asked if they could do some fish for our dog and they immediately said yes, nothing was too much trouble for them. We fed the badgers every night and also went down the road to feed the horses every day. We would not hesitate to recommend this lodge to anyone, and we are thinking of going again next year when it is our 25th wedding anniversary. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Christmas break
We have stayed at this lodge quite a few times usually in the summer months but this was a break with 14 other family members all in different lodges for the festive break. We love the location of the lodge and the homlyness of it. We thought it might be a cold in lodge given the time of year but we were proven wrong it was so warm. We dined at the Haybarn a few nights and have no complaints there, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be booking again. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Fabulous location on park
Rowan Lodge is in a fabulous spot on Limefitt Park. It is very private and not overlooked next to woods and fells. Our cockapoo absolutely loved the walks straight out of the door. The lodge has everything that you need and an added bonus of a bath after a long walk over Wansfell Pike to Ambleside and back again. There was constant hot water and a fully equipped kitchen. The only negative was that the outside of the lodge needed some TLC of the decking and furniture but it would not deter us from returning again soon. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The walk up the road next to the Post Office in Troutbeck to Ambleside is very dog friendly with the sheep fenced off the majority of the walk.

Lodge was clean and very comfortable. Everything we could possibly need was provided. Fantastic location for nature lovers with badgers, deer, rabbits and squirrel appearing from beyond the hedge. Fantastic Break
This was our first experience of hiring a lodge, the website was simple to use and provided lots of information. From the moment we arrived at the lodge it felt like home. Peaceful, quiet and well located both in the park and for exploring the surrounding area. We enjoyed the board games left at the lodge when the weather let us down. We saw deer, and the badger arrived every night for his peanut butter sandwiches. The only complaint we have is that we are due to visit the lakes again in September and Rowan is not available, but we intend to book the Rowan again as soon as possible. We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge. It was comfortable and clean and had everything you needed. Fabulous location on park
2nd time at Rowan Lodge. The lodge is in one of the best locations on Limefitt Park next to the woods and hills and not overlooked. You can walk directly from the lodge to the Mortal Man and also to Ambleside over Wansfell without needing a car. We like the fact that Rowan Lodge has a bath after such long walks. It is a very dog friendly lodge and site with an enclosed dog exercise area. The decking area is also fenced off with a gate. What did you enjoy most about your stay? We were very lucky with the weather and even though a Bank Holiday weekend the lodge and site are away from the crowds. Me, my Mum & my Dog had an absolutely fabulous holiday. The Lodge was great & will definitely be returning. It had everything we needed & more, very well equipt & homely. Xmas Break in the Lakes
We booked the cabin in December 2019, our first Xmas away from the family for over 50 years. We found the cabin to be all that was promised, very comfortable, warm, clean and very well equipped. The site was clean and tidy and the staff very helpful. We don't think we'll do it again at Xmas, we did miss our family, but still enjoyed the stay. disappointing start to break
We have stayed at Rowans Lodge before and know it needs updating but it is in a very private part of the park and not overlooked so we were prepared for that. We also felt reassured during the present pandemic that we could not check in until 4 pm to allow for extra cleaning. I spent the first two hours of my well needed break from work in the NHS cleaning the lodge. I took photographs of the dead moths and filthy grill pan and sent them to Lake District Lodges. They responded immediately and apologised and I appreciate they are not the owners of the lodge and they said would pass on our concerns. I also understand that our complaint had been passed on to the cleaners. This will not deter us from booking with Lake District Lodges again as they responded quickly to our complaint. Upon arrival, we were met by friendly, helpful staff who directed us to our lodge. The lodge itself was homely, clean and set in a beautiful location with all the facilities we could need. Great stay, great park, stunning views.
The lodge it self is well located with stunning views of the local hills. The lodge was built in 2004 and is beginning to look a little tired however it was spotlessly clean and all the facilities you wanted in the lodge were there. The only thing you have to bring is yourself and your own food. The park has a great river which the dogs loved playing in, kids were playing in it. There is a good park for the kids to playing. There is an on-site pub which serves good food. There are two pubs close by. The mortal manAnd the Queens head both of which in walking distance. Ambleside Troutbeck and Windermere are very close by 5 to 10 minutes drive. The highlight of our stay was feeding peanut butter sandwiches to the badgers. We thought it was a joke when we saw it in the information but it is actually true. We had a brilliant time and have booked again for next year What did you enjoy most about your stay? Traditional Style Log Cabin
We stayed at Rowan Lodge at the beginning of August with our 11 year old daughter & our dog! We usually go abroad so this was definitely something different for us! The Cabin was brilliant, very spacious, well equipped and comfortable, an ideal base to explore the Lakes! We had read previous reviews about the badgers visiting the lodge & they did not disappoint! Easter break
We were lucky to have good weather but the cabin has a nice corner spot. Lovely to sit on the deck in the afternoon and watch the birds. Having bird seed to put in the feeders was great idea. Cabin was good basic amenities. Bed a little soft for us and dining table has a wobble. Otherwise it provided what we needed and kids had WiFi so they were happy. Rowan is accessed by a short pathway with 2 small steps before reaching the lodge. There are then 5 steps up to the deck. The lodge is then all on the same ground floor level.
Rowan Lodge has its own complimentary dedicated wifi.
A travel cot will fit in the master bedroom only. A travel cot is provided in the lodge for you. Please bring your own highchair as one is not provided.

WiFi is for personal use only and is not intended for high data usage, gaming and/or use for business purposes, This is only suitable for page browsing and sending emails, Bookings cannot be accepted if they are solely reliant on the provision of uninterrupted and unlimited Wi-Fi and we are not held responsible or liable for loss of connection.
There is a Good Housekeeping Bond of £100 for this property.
Please note that the charging of electric vehicles is not permitted at this lodge.

Park Rules and Operations – Limefitt
All holiday parks are owned and managed by a separate company to ourselves. Lake District Lodge Holidays has no association with the owners of these parks or responsibility for the provision of services they offer. At certain times of year, there maybe a reduction in those services, which is outside of our control.
Commercial vehicles, caravans, camper vans, Hen or Stag parties are not permitted onsite. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and are not be left alone in the lodges at any point during your stay.
You will be staying on an operational holiday park, which means work may be undertaken from time to time by the park owners during your stay. Although Lake District Lodge Holidays will always try to inform guests in advance if something may impact on a stay and if we have prior knowledge. We cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for park operations of which are outside of our control and which we have no knowledge of.
Any issues relating to a stay at a privately owned lodge should be reported back through Lake District Lodge Holidays as the park are not responsible for managing the lodge or booking for private sublet guests during their stay.
Please note that the parks facilities are always subject to availability, and may be closed without notice, including over the Christmas and new year period. For the avoidance of doubt before booking, contact Park Dean Resorts about any communal site facilities you may wish to use. LDLH and the property owners cannot be held responsible for any site facilities that may be unavailable during your stay.
