Walker's Retreat Lodge

The stay was absolutely amazing and the lodge was the best we have stayed in at limefitt park We want to book again next year for 10 nights,we payed £1568 this year but when we have looked at booking for next year for 10 days 23 July friday the price is now £1915,Which has gone up by £347,Is there a better price you can do,that is pretty expensive and the price has shot up from last years price Thank you Mr Eccleston

We had a lovely stay at Walkers Retreat, the location is wonderful and there is so much to do in the area.

We could have stayed for another week. The living accommodation was very spacious for two adults, the bedrooms are not quite so roomy but there is plenty of storage space. The hand rail by the steps to the property is not secure and needs attention. We hope to come back again one day and we would be very pleased to stay here again.

Really enjoyed a long weekend at Walker’s Retreat Lodge.

Great location, spotlessly clean, great for walks from the door step, convenient for Winderemere and Ambleside, nice view. Things to consider, some steep steps to gain access, fine for us but could be tricky for some. We stayed during the heatwave, it remained pretty cool, but a blind or curtain for the front door would be brilliant. Gas oven seemed to be a bit temperamental, was full on flame and never cut out when temperature reached so made cooking quite tricky. Would happily stay again, lovely place.

Our 4th time at Walkers Retreat and it never disappoints.

Had a lovely stay. The lodge is like a home from home. Has everything you need. Comfortable, clean and perfect location at the back of the site. Quiet and private. Walks straight from the door. The plug in the bath didn't seem to make a good seal.

The lodge was a lovely place to stay the views was amazing very comfortable so relaxing only down fall was we couldn't get the key out the safe it was a bit fidgety and unfortunately as you walk in the front door it was full of cobwebs even the paper towel holder in the kitchen was full of cobwebs maybe cleaners just need to do a double check over after cleaning but haven't said that overall it was a lovely lodge me and the 2 children loved it and will definitely be rebooking thank you so much for having us.

This was our 2nd time to Walker's Retreat and we really enjoy staying here.

It's comfy and well equipped and is in a great spot within the park.

This lodge had everything you wanted and needed to have the perfect holiday, it was spotless inside and had everything you needed, the views from the decking were amazing and you had perfect walks on your doorstep.

Windermere and Ambleside were a short drive away, I would recommend it to anyone thinking of going to the lakes.

It was a lovely cabin and cited in a perfect location on the site itself, we did find a credit card that was underneath one of the couches that I tried to email several different emails to inform them but no reply, so this was handed into the reception on Monday (23rd June ) .

The only downside I would say is that we thought the check in time was too late , 4pm is pretty much a whole day over with and when you include a long drive to get there, it limits you on going anywhere specific as things normally close at 5pm , to me there should be a discount as you only check in for the first night only. If the check in was from 1pm it would give us time to actually spend a day visiting places & When check out is 10 am , 6 hours before the next check in is a long time wasted in between (in our opinion) . This is the only thing I would change. Everything else was lovely and enjoyable.

Over all we enjoyed our stay at Walker's Retreat, the property inside was clean and comfortable.

It is in a prime position and being elevated above other lodges isn't overlooked and we would recommend it. However on the downside there was a no soap in the bathroom or toilet, very little washing up liquid and no cleaning materials. We needed the cleaning materials because the decking area hadn't been cleaned in a while. The table and chairs were dirty and the fencing was covered in cobwebs and bird droppings. This is the third time we have stayed here and although it's been a few years since we last stayed we found it a little disappointing.

We had a brilliant stay at Walker's Retreat, everything was absolutely spotless, the bed very comfortable and the shower perfect after a day in the hills.

Views from the Lodge were gorgeous. We managed 6 Wainwright's even though the weather was quite poor. The walking from the door is amazing and the Post Office cafe well worth a visit.

Another lovely break at Walkers Retreat.

This our 3rd visit this year and will definitely rebook in the future. The owners have really made the lodge a home from home. Very cosy and comfy. Lovely bathroom with a bath which was great after a days fell walking. The lodge has everything you need and in such a peaceful, great location. Some lovely walks from the door. Look forward to returning at some point.

This was our first holiday not staying in a hotel and honestly this has sold us on staying in lodges!

The whole place was wonderful, so clean and well equipped, comfy and cosy! And the views were were spectacular!! The only slight things we would say is slightly comfier mattresses (found them a little lumpy but still slept like logs) and we would have loved some bird feeders available as we love wildlife and could see all the lovely birds flying past. However, these are such minor things and we loved every moment and hope to come back again! Ideal location, beautiful views, everything we could need, wonderful shower and well equipped kitchen, easy access and all around wonderful!!

Just returned from another stay at Walkers Retreat.

Had a lovely time. The lodge was comfortable, clean and like home from home. Lovely and quiet as situated at the back of the park. Great walks from the door. We did have an abrupt lodge owner bang on the door advising we were half parked in their space. On our 1st visit to Walkers Retreat we were advised the 2 parking places outside belonged to Walkers Retreat so therefore I parked straddling both spaces. Which the owner of the lodge to the right of Walkers Retreat, when looking up at WR from the bottom the parking spaces, advised that one space was theirs and she was quite rude. We were also advised that the space below the other lodge was their only parking space. It might be an idea to put a small sign post with the number of the lodge on, at the end of the parking area to advise which space belongs to which lodge. Apart from that, we had another lovely stay and will definitely book again. Look forward to returning sometime.

Just returned from a short break at Walkers Retreat, Limefitt Park.

Absolutely loved it. The lodge was lovely and clean. Very comfortable and had everything you need. The information folders were helpful too. The lodge is situated at the back of the park, very peaceful and quiet. Had such a relaxing time. Beautiful area, lots of walks from the lodge. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning to Walkers Retreat at some point. Thank you!

What a beautiful Lodge, a home from home.

You should be proud of yourselves for providing one of the best lodges that we have stayed in. Everything that was needed was there and the views were to die for. None of us wanted to come home. I don't know when, but we will be back. Thank you so much for allowing us to share your Lodge.

My family and I had a great time using the Walkers Retreat as our base.

I have a 4 and 2 year old who absolutely loved the lodge and felt completely at home. The only thing we missed was a washing machine but it wasn't the end of the world! We are looking forward to coming back and staying at this property again x

Great lodge in fab location but…….

Take note of the information regarding the steps to the lodge, they are VERY steep and definitely not suitable for anybody with mobility issues.

Very impressed all we could’ve wished for only down point was when all the power went out on Wednesday but that was not your fault all the valley was out but had a very nice time thank you mr D lees

No WiFi but I’m glad. I didn’t go there to look at my phone. Area beautiful and lodge situated in an awesome spot.

We stayed at this lodge as a family of 5, two adults and 3 young children.

The lodge is located in a nice quiet location with lovely views over the valley. The lodge has all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. The decking area is a good size and I can imagine would be used frequently during the warmer weather. Be careful during wet weather as it becomes very slippy. The details stated the lodge had room for a travel cot. Only way we squeezed the cot in was pushing the twin beds together which wasn't ideal. The bathroom had a damp smell which wasn't pleasant.

My family loved the lodge.

It was the perfect base for our stay in the Lake District. It’s location in the park also suited us down to the ground - at the top, backing onto the wood, with a great view from the decking area. It was clean, tidy, and comfortable and we’d definitely book to stay here again in the future. One suggestion we have would be for the lodge have some kind of welcome booklet containing instructions for the appliances, local recommendations, suggested walks and the like. Whilst the cooking appliances by and large were pretty straightforward to use, we had issues with the DVD player. The TVs were fine, only one evening, we wanted to watch a dvd and for some reason we couldn’t get a picture from the player to the screen. We were probably missing something straightforward, but some instructions wouldn’t have gone amiss as there’s always some idiosyncrasies no matter how au fait one might be with such equipment. A couple of nice touches might be a welcome pint of milk, teabags and coffee for that cuppa one might need when you’ve first arrived. Also some small “welcome” bars of soap in the bathrooms. Finally a guest book would also be a nice touch. These have been things that we have had, when staying at other Lake District Lodge Holidays lodges in the past. Please understand that these are just minor suggestions and not criticisms!! As I say, we really enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend this lodge.

An excellent lodge, decor and facilities first rate.

Located in a quiet area of the park with views across to the fells. Would highly recommend.

The property was in a lovely location on Limefitt Park.

It had all the basic amenities for our stay. We have stayed in lots of lodges in Limefitt Park in the past so have lots to compare. Walkers Retreat is the most basic of all the lodges we have stayed in - aside from 2 X-box games there was no other form of entertainment: a couple of family board games or jigsaws would be a nice addition. Also, there was a hanky & discarded tissue down the side of the bed in the main bedroom on arrival. We did have a lovely stay and I’m glad I was over prepared by bringing little extras like oil, condiments, extra toilet rolls and games & toys for the children. Other lodges have had these extras and these little touches have made our stay more enjoyable in the past. One other ‘extra’ things we’ve experienced in other lodges have been leaflets of things to do in the area and a guestbook.

The actual lodge was great only problem beds were very uncomfortable had a dreadful back pain and my partner otherwise could not fault it.

The accommodation was as advertised and there were no unwelcome surprises.

The view at Walker's Retreat is spectacular and the convenience of the location and on-site facilities was excellent. As a family of 4 on our summer holiday, it was perfect. I would highly recommend Walker's Retreat to others.

The lodge was great.

Very comfy and clean with everything we needed for a great stay. Views were stunning, location brilliant. Facilities great. Staff friendly. Only one issue: the fridge wasn’t working properly as it froze everything in it from milk to cucumbers! We turned the setting down to the lowest possible but everything still came out like ice lollies!

10 days at Limefitt Walker's Retreat

I think our 8th or 9th stop at Limefitt, superb lodge again from Lake District Lodges. Ideal spot higher up on the fell side. Would fully recommend. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Superb Lodge on Modern, Well Maintained Park

Walkers Retreat Lodge is a modern, spacious, well appointed lodge in an excellent raised position on the park, not overlooked by any other lodges, (except the adjacent lodge on the same elevation, but there is a dense screen of vegetation between). The interior was modern and clean, with board-games, TV, DVD, (and films to watch) and an Xbox. The kitchen had everything you could need when staying away from home. The spacious fully enclosed decking area to the front and side of the lodge is a boon to families with young children. We were able to enjoy many evening meals on the outside table, safe in the knowledge that the children, (aged 1 & 2), were perfectly safe and unable to run off. What did you enjoy most about your stay? We loved the calmness and serenity of the park, sitting on the deck in the sunshine, with no traffic noise, enjoying the uninterrupted views across the valley. Fantastic last minute stay

Had a fantastic stay here. The lodge is in a great location with fantastic views and not really overlooked. Lodge was lovely and clean, very spacious and everything we needed was provided. Our boys loved the games/ dvd and xbox which was provided which kept them amused while we were in the lodge. Site was a lovely a little more out the way than we thought it would be but wasn't a problem Some lovely walks. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Nice and relaxing holiday

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at walkers retreat lodge. The lodge was well equipped for our needs and spacious. The lodge was in a lovely location and we were able to see some wild life from our lodge window. The location of the lodge is about 10 minutes drive from Bowness-on-Windermere, which is also a lovely place to visit. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. Short stay at Walker's Retreat

We were really impressed with Walkers Retreat lodge. It is a well set out lodge on a slight hill so it overlooks all the other lodges giving clear views of the hills. It is not overlooked. Behind it there is a wooded area. There is ample space to park a car next to the lodge. In fact although it states one car per lodge the parking bay at Walkers Retreat would accommodate two cars. The lounge area is spacious, both bedrooms are more compact but are adequate with plenty of storage space. There is one shower room with toilet that has two doors, one into the master bedroom creating an ensuite effect and one into the hall. There is also a separate toilet. The best part of the lodge though is the decking area. It wraps around the front and one side with access through the front door or patio doors from the lounge and dining area. We were lucky to have good weather when we were there and the decking area was a pleasant place to sit during the evenings facing the sun. The kitchen was well kept and clean. There is a pub, The Haybarn Inn, about 2 minutes away via a small path through the woods at the back of the lodge. The food there is passable, it has a patio area and a beer garden. The location of the park and lodge is very good. We stayed for a weekend on a walking trip but if you stayed longer it is a good base to explore the Lakes. The customer service was also excellent. The instructions to access the lodge were clear and precise and the booking experience as a whole was excellent .The receptionist at Limefitt Holiday Park was also very helpful. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Sitting outside on the decking area in the evening. Peaceful and relaxing. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? We stayed here because we had planned walking up Scafell Pike. We did this from Great Langdale. Our route started at the Old Dungeon Ghyll. The route took us over The Band, Bow Fell, Esk Pike passed Great End and over Broad Crag to Scafell Pike. We decended via the path passed Tongue Head, Angle Tarn and Mickleden. This was a long walk, 8 hours. However I if you don't want to to do the whole walk I would recommend going as far as Bowfell and Esk Pike. A really nice walk and fantastic views. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to the Old Dungeon Ghyll from Walkers Retreat.

Wonderful first family holiday

A fantastic, cosy lodge for a first family holiday. The staff on reception were helpful when we arrived and an issue with a missing travel cot was quickly rectified when calling Lake District Lodge Holidays. restful break

We unfortunately had a lot of rain when we stayed so we were not able to take advantage of the decking which had incredible views. However, as the lodge was very comfortable we had a very restful break and it was not a hardship to end our days early go back and curl up with a book. Watching the fells opposite appear and disappear at regular intervals. It was very private and we would go back again but hope to be able to relax on the deck next time. A lovely stay

The cabin was lovely inside and beautifully located for the most amazing view! Would definitely stay again. Just one thing to mention was on our last day there was no hot water or heating, but other than that a great stay. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Amazing birthday break

Our second time at Walkers Retreat

Last time we stayed here I gave it a deserved 5 star review. Even though we have marked it down slightly this time it is still really a 5 star lodge and I would certainly stay here again and thoroughly recommend it. The reason we have marked it down slightly this time is because we had a few problems. The first problem we had was that we could not get the gas cooker hobs to light. This was on a Sunday. We reported this but were told they couldn't come out on a Sunday and to use a match to light the hobs. This didn't work. We then left the day. When we returned we found the heating wasn't working. We did not report this until the Monday morning when we were leaving. In hindsight we should have done so on Sunday, the reason we didn't was because when we had reported the Hob we had been told they couldn't come out on Sunday. We therefore thought the same would apply to the heating. Finally when we got up on Monday morning we found there was no hot water so could not have a shower. I have since been told they checked the Hob after we left and it was working perfectly. So it's a mystery why it wouldn't work on Sunday or Monday morning. (We had used it on Saturday). They also told us the heating needed a simple reset and if we had told them they would have fixed it. I acknowledge that we should have reported it on Sunday but I have explained why we didn't. In conclusion I would still recommend this lodge. I am sure these problems will be ironed out for us, if we stayed there again, and for any future guests. (Maybe a note regarding the reset of the heating & hot water for guests) What did you enjoy most about your stay? It's a really comfortable lodge in a great location for sightseeing or walking. Fantastic staycation!

Myself and my partner recently stayed in walkers retreat for 4 nights, and it was absolutely wonderful and provided everything you could possibly need. The condition of the lodge was impeccable and the location faultless, especially the resident rabbits and squirrels we were greeted by every morning, we even caught a glimpse of the deer! Another great stay at Walkers Retreat

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Walker's Retreat. It's a beautiful well kept lodge in a very good position on the site, it has good views and the decking is a sun trap (when it's out). It's close to the Hay Barn Inn (5 mins through the woods at the rear). The Hay Barn was open when we were here and was following all the Covid 19 rules. It's a great location for exploring the fells. You can access the Ill Bell ridge from here and go on to High Street. There is also wildlife to be seen if you're lucky. We saw deer and badgers in the woods behind the lodge. It's also a great location for exploring the Lakes. Windermere is not far away. What did you enjoy most about your stay? We enjoy the fell walking but the wildlife was a highlight too. I would recommend walking up to High Street over Yoke and Ill Bell and then back down through the Troutbeck valley. You can do this straight from the lodge, the path is behind the Haybarn Inn.

Great place

Lovely cabin great views from the kitchen and amazing balcony area. The children loved the park and stream. The location is great as its quiet and out of the way but in a short matter of time you can get to most places, good walks nearby. Beautrix Potter museum was a hit with the kids (4 and 9) on a wet day and I was impressed with their covid measures. Beds were comfortable,kitchen very well stocked. Superb location

We have stayed on this site many times over the years in different areas off the site but this has to be one off the best locations for a lodge looking straight across the valley and up to wansfell pike We love walking but what a joy to come back to this lodge and views it provides .
