Great lodge in perfect location.

Plenty space for family and dog. Only slight negative is it could do with a bit of tlc. Carpet very dirty, broken recliner which has been mentioned in comments for a while. Still a great holiday and would definitely return.

Extremely Disappointing… Firstly to say that we have, over many years, stayed in many properties managed by Lake District Lodge Holidays and overall have been mostly satisfied with the standards we have encountered.

However, since the takeover by Sykes Cottages this is no longer the case and we have found that whilst prices have risen rapidly over recent years the standards of service,cleaning, and the attention to detail in the properties has seriously deteriorated. Firstly the service. We were asked on the booking confirmation to ring within 48 hours of visiting the property to obtain the code for the security barrier at the site. As we were due to arrive on Monday I rang on Sunday to be told by a recorded message that the office was closed. I rang again around 10am on Monday and it was still closed! I then sent an email requesting the information which then took until mid morning Tuesday for them to finally tell me that I did not need a code as the barriers were not in use. The standard of cleaning at Waterbird can only be described as poor. The fridge was not properly cleaned, the freezer was worse and could not have been defrosted in weeks. The plastic dish drainer on the sink was filthy And as for the oven, Grill, and Hob, they were absolutely disgusting both inside and out. There was no way we would have used these even to cook ready meals! The attention to detail in the property was sadly lacking, with many of the problems which have been reported in previous reviews over months and in some cases years still not having been addressed. The chair is still stuck in the reclined position,the bottle rack in the fridge door is still missing, the sofa is very worn and uncomfortable and the radiator in the En-suite is still rusty. The toaster will not toast even when on full and the carpet in the lounge to kitchen area is badly stained, Self catering holidays in the uk are no longer a cheap option and owners need to make sure the product they provide is worthy of the charges they are asking. All of the above defects could be rectified for just a small portion of the profits. They also need to make sure that their agents are providing more than just a basic service level which was certainly not the case here.

Waterbird is a lovely lodge in a stunning location.

It’s been a blissful weekend and we wished we could have stayed longer.

Loved the lodge,the location was fantastic.

And the views were unbelievable. Couldn't ask for a better stay thank you.

The view from the lodge is wonderful, probably one of the best on site.

The lodge itself still needs some TLC, the wardrobe doors in both large bedrooms are off their tracks so don’t open properly, the 2nd bedroom door doesn’t shut properly and the bathroom one needs attention. The recliner chair doesn’t work and isn’t in a position to be sat on and unfortunately it looks like someone has had a bbq on the deck and burnt some of the boards. Not sure if we will be back feeling disappointed ☹️

Site location perfect lodge location and settings stunning.

Lodge size was great everything needed supplied. Just missing hot tub on that huge decking.

The view from this property is breath taking instilling a sense of calmness.

The lodge is tired and needs some updating. The settees need renewing and the beds aren’t the most comfortable. It states it sleeps 7 but should be changed to 4 adults and 3 children. They have supplied everything you need for your stay and the linens and towels are clean. Setting makes up for everything 109%

Accommodation was Great a few cob webs here and there ,1 recliner was in the permanent out position and 1 didn't work .

The kettle had a cable showing wire very dangerous .All other parts of the Accommodation was great including the decking area .

We had a fantastic stay at the Waterbird lodge with Lake District Lodge Holidays.

The lodge was spotless, well-equipped, and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the scenery. The lodge itself was modern yet cosy, with lovely views and a great outdoor space to sit and relax. It felt private and quiet, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Everything was well maintained and clearly cared for, which really added to the experience. The location is ideal for exploring the Lake District, but also perfect if you simply want a quiet getaway. Communication and the overall booking experience were smooth and straightforward. We would definitely recommend staying here and would happily return in the future. A wonderful place for a relaxing escape.

Absolutely loved it!

!!! The lodge was just perfect, plenty of room, lovely and clean lots of pots and pans etc for cooking, the location was perfect and the views were just unbelievable!! I would highly recommend this place to anyone thinking of booking. The lodge also had the added bonus of a washing machine that I don’t think is listed on the website. Just couldn’t fault it at all! The reviews were a bit worrying but we had stayed before.

The lodge does need some TLC, it could be such a fantastic place, but everything was clean, including the carpets. You can’t get any closer to the lake and the view can’t be beaten we would def go back. A hosepipe outside would be a good addition for furry friends

waterbird has beautiful views and large decking, however the actual lodge is in need of refurb.

kitchen cupboards are peeling off, the Hot Water/Heating boiler didn't work properly, some reclining chairs don't work. The fire in living room didn't work, mattress's could do with replacing and the mattress protectors weren't changed as had stains on them (blood & urine) Such a shame as in a prime location on site. wish id read reviews on other booking sites about it first as all mentioned these problems from June 2024, we stayed October 2025. with us paying £1300 for a week, we did not feel this was value for money, and the property would need improvements for us to consider rebooking.

This was our fourth year booking with Sykes Cottages at White Cross Bay, and unfortunately it will be our last.

Each lodge we’ve stayed in has been disappointing, with this year’s being the worst yet. The kitchen was in terrible condition—peeling cupboards, a fridge with no door shelving, a freezer thick with ice, and inadequate utensils (no grater, no wooden spoons, and an outdated toaster). The kitchen window didn’t even open. The rest of the lodge was just as neglected: mattresses uncomfortable, pillows flat, a boiler that constantly failed, a toilet that barely flushed, wardrobe doors off their runners, dirty carpets, broken blinds, a non-working recliner, and even a useless vacuum cleaner. Outside, the veranda was unusable after dark due to poor lighting, and the property looked nothing like the outdated photos shown online. Parking was awkward, and the park itself offered little, making passes poor value. The only positive was the view, but it didn’t make up for the overall poor standards. After four years of giving Sykes the chance to improve, nothing has changed—properties are poorly maintained, issues ignored, and prices remain high. We won’t be booking again and cannot recommend them.

It was so bad, we left straight away.

As others have said in previous feedback, the place is extremely outdated and doesn’t match the photos online. The kitchen furniture is peeling off, with visible chunks off. The wallpaper is also starting to peel off, the fridge is missing shelves(probably previously broken) and the biggest deterrent for us was the smell, a very unhygienic smell which we think it must have been from the very very old carpets. Throughout it smelled very bad, in spite of them vacuuming the place. With little children we just felt it was unsafe. Like others have said, the place needs a full refurb especially at this price. It was a very disappointing experience for us, the view is stunning! But the place is a big let down. We never had to leave an accommodation before, so that speaks volumes. I would advise you book something else.

On the whole we had a great stay.

only issue was the kitchen. It really needs an up date. The position of the lodge, the view the decking were all fantastic. and whilst we managed with the kitchen it does need some repair work carrying out to it.

Fabulous location with the decking right on the water!

Very clean and tidy, however inside the lodge ie. the furniture and especially the kitchen is very used and needs replacing. Despite that we had a lovely week in the Waterbird.

Simply stunning.

We have stayed in many lodges over the last 30 years and without doubt this tops them all. We had a wonderful time. The decking is great for sitting back and admiring the first class view. If you have any paddle boards or kayaks this cabin is right by the launch site to the lake so is ideally situated for fans of water sports. The cabin itself is very comfortable and has everything you need. We had the an amazing holiday and have made some wonderful memories.

The kitchen was in a bad state of disrepair.

Some cupboard doors had large chunks of the plastic topcoat snapped off exposing bare chipboard doors and the cupboards around the cooker were severely heat damaged with the previously melted topcoat flapping about when you open / close the cupboard doors. However, despite its initial appearance the kitchen had a good cooker, fridge, freezer & dishwasher and large selection of pick ‘n’ mix crockery, cutlery and glass ware. First few days were okay bcoz the weather was nice but as soon as we tried to use the heating and hot water at the same time the boiler cut out stating low pressure - leaving us with no heating or hot water until the pressure was adjusted and the boiler reset. This happened multiple times each day. The bathrooms were bright and clean however the glass shower screen in the family bathroom fell off the wall when nobody was even in the bathroom and smashed all over the floor (breaking the toilet seat in the process). The maintenance team were quick to this incident although they were not able to replace the screen during our stay rendering the shower unusable! The Chrome heated towel rail in the en-suite bathroom was also very rusty

The kitchen and bathrooms are very tired.

The kitchen fronts are falling off. Such a shame we were constantly worried more was going to come off when opening and closing draws and cupboards. The boiler kept cutting out and hot water was on and off a lot.

Thankfully I knew how to top it up The shower in master suite ran constantly and dripped all night. Our plans changed on Sunday. I messaged company on their dedicated messaging service to see if we could stay an extra night as it looked like it was available. I could see from website office was shut on Sunday so long shot. I rang 930 when office opened and it rang out and I went on to hold for 10 minutes and couldn’t get to speak to anyone. This was frustrating I also never got a response to my message which is pretty poor! Overall, the location and view is magnificent. We got a deal on lodge so the location just about made up for the bad things but a lodge in this location and valued at this much and at full rental price is disappointing. It needs money spending on it.

This is the second time we have stayed here and the lodge location is amazing.

It is however starting to look tired and require some updating. We had issues with the boiler and had to reset it daily to get hot water. This would be a problem for anyone who wouldn’t know how to do it. The kitchen is also in need of updating as cupboard doors are worn, door in the fridge broken, mismatched plates and bowls. I still feel the third bedroom would benefit from 2 singles instead of bunks but that is personal preference to make it an option for 6 adults if required. Tvs in the rooms with signal instead of dvd only would also be good. The new decked area looks fab and this was the reason our 2023 break was cancelled.

I asked Sykes before our holiday if we could have the bedding washed in fragrance free washing powder and Sykes couldn’t help with that so I had to take all our own bedding.

This showed the bunk bed mattresses plus the trundle mattress needs replacing. We had to phone about the boiler it stopped working (we have 3 children 1 only 5 months old) the very next day. We did get 2 men from site and 1 from Sykes come to look at it and sort it but we had to reset the boiler ourselves every day. The Sykes guy said he had booked maintenance for Monday but this did not happen. This is our second stay at Waterbird and although it has some really good points we have had issues each time. The size of the lodge is really good for us and the views are amazing but I’m not sure we would stay there again. A little maintenance inside the lodge would be good especially the kitchen cupboard by the oven. We did have a great holiday the swimming pool is a plus point for our children but lack of communication from reception and the changing of swim times made it difficult to use the pool each day. This is an activity you pay extra for which we are happy to do but we were left disappointed at times.

We had an excellent holiday stay.

The lodge was welcoming, it was lovely and warm when we arrived and spotlessly clean. Most importantly we booked this lodge for the views and our Expectations were Exceeded the Views took Our breath away, we would definitely stay there again imagine it in the summer wow.

We loved the lodge, the location and the view, it’s a very special place.

There is plenty of space and it has three great bedrooms. Hope to revisit next year. The only disappointing thing was and it’s probably not important to a lot of people, but the pans and crockery and cutlery could all do with a refresh, nothing matches and it’s basic, they let it down and the hoover was broken.

Sorry couldn't hoover up but hoover head tachment wouldn't stay on, round the kitchen unit doors getting a bit tatty but overall, was beautiful, brilliant RR unbelievable views utter piece & tranquil, thanks sooo much for letting us stay in you're beautiful lodge

This was our 4th visit to Waterbird over the last couple of years.

We love this lodge and the fact of its position lakeside. However we have noticed a bit of deterioration in a few places mainly around the kitchen cupboards where a lot of the coverings are coming away. Also a new kitchen litter bin would be appreciated after constantly putting the broken lid back on. These may seem petty gripes but we do pay quite an amount to stay there so feel it’s not too much to ask to put these things right. Overall though we would absolutely recommend Waterbird and hope to stay there in the future.

Excellent location, spacious cottage.

It can be a 5 star accommodation with proper maintenance and TLC. Currently it looks tired and worn out. Kitchen cabinet doors are cracked and need repair/replacement. Confusion about who maintains/look after the property ?Parkdeans ?? Sykes ??? owner. Inability to contact the appropriate person/agency for the gate access code and how to work fireplace was frustrating. Telephone numbers provided have long voice mail message basically asking to email which was impossible due to virtually no wi fi signal in the property. Shower in ensuite is partially blocked due to limescale/mould. If it works well, it could be quite pleasant. Bed mattress in master bedroom is quite old and not comfortable. For the price of rental one would expect better quality and comfort.

Third time staying at Waterbird, last stay 2022 New carpet in lounge area a vast improvement as well as new composite decking and railings which although smaller than before is still vast compared to all other lodges on site.

New deck furniture with padded cushions available which is fab and comfy. Called maintenance as electric chair not working, was fixed that day but broke again the following day, didnt call them out again as became insignificant to be honest. Left a note to say check that and main oven at end of holiday as couldnt work it unless on high, We had a fantastic sleep in the double bedroom, but matresses in the the main suite and bunk beds need replacing very soft and springy but apart from that the lodge was great. Booked 7 nights this time and felt like a real holiday and a great break. ,

excellent lodge, in the best location.

the comfort of the lodge allowed us to enjoy the best of the location regardless of the weather. will definitely return in the future, the booking was easy - the access instructions first class. could do with better instruction on how to locate the lodge when on site - but defo a great place to stay with the family.

We have been going to White Cross Bay for 30 years and love it.

This was the third time we have stayed at Waterbird and it is simply stunning. The new decking is a great addition. It has the most amazing views and is very well equipped. We will be going again without doubt.

The views are amazing and the property is spacious with everything you need. There are a few areas that need updating/repair. Kitchen cupboards need updating, ensuite shower needs to be repaired/replaced and re-sealed. None of these would stop us returning! A hot tub would put the icing on the cake

we took my parents for a weekend away , it was spotless, everything you need including towels, kitchen cloths etc.. it was breath taking , would highly recommend this lodge.

Absolutely stunning lodge!

Must have the best location on the site. Huge decking area which actually backs onto the lake. Doubt you’d find a better view. Also it’s right next to the boat launch ramp so perfect if you’re paddle boarding or kayaking. On arrival we found the lodge immaculately clean, the place is lovely and light inside and there’s so much space. Two large double bedrooms, one has a lovely en-suite, plus a 3rd room with a bunk bed and a pull out extra bed which was perfect for us as we were two families sharing. Even with our excited kids zooming round there was loads of room. The kitchen had all the utensils and crockery you need, and a decent cooker and hob if you’re planing on eating in. Good sized dining table too. The location of white cross bay is perfectly slap bang in the middle between Ambleside and Bowness. Regular busses pick you up from right outside the park and it’s about 10 mins to either location where there’s an abundance of pubs, restaurants and shops etc. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

Lodge has a view to die for but sadly that’s it , needs updating in places and on arrival smells when opening door , nothing in lodge , washing up liquid, dishwashing tablets, salt, pepper absolutely nothing , no televisions in bedrooms , only kids room (bunk beds ) no lights on decking at night, , could be a lovely lodge just needs some love and home comforts saying that it is a rental lodge and I don’t think the owners use it , wouldn’t rent again as there is nicer lodges on white cross

The carpet needed a good clean everywhere , it was very cold inside on our arrival .

The furniture did not smell the best , the bunk bed room stank awful . Sheets were not clean had to change them Noticed Cupboards facia started to peal in kitchen The positive is , it realy has the most amazing view of lake Windermere the decking was amazing . Overall we would wish to stay again but in the hope it would have cleaner carpets . It’s such a shame when travelled 6 long hours to get to the lodge you don’t provide a welcome pack not even a tea bag .

We absolutely love it. It’s definitely location for us and it’s so peaceful. Views are fantastic. I’m sure we’ll be again.

hi the lodge was very dirty when we arrived .

i had to clean all the kitchen and the bathrooms. i moved the bedroom curtain and found a used tissue and a hanky in the main bedroom not a great start. lots of chipped glasses and dirty pots . But the lodge location was perfect and the new decking area was a great improvment. We would definetly stay here again, just a shame about the cleaning .

This was our second visit to Waterbird and the improvements to the outside area were immediately noticeable (new decking etc).

A lovely lodge in an enviable position with amazing views, well equipped and comfortable.

Excellent clean well organized site.

The cabin was spotless and very well equipped. A great decking area but a little unfortunate that we were not able to use it due to the weather. We will definitely try to book again next year.

Stay was superb,accuracy of listing is also spot on.

Only issue for us was the internet connection.

Some of the kitchen knits were losing laminate veneer exposing mdf bored.

One lounge vertical blind opened without handle on wrong side. Insufficient crockery for 6 so had to wash up after each meal. The user guide lacked ALL the info as missed games and dvd.Lacked a French press coffee maker.Not enough serving dishes, steamer, utensils. Bathroom vent fan should have 15 mins over run.No radio in second bedroom. No lamp in bunk bed room. No 'home welcoming pack'.

Beautiful place.

We have stayed in white cross bay for 23 years and Water Bird is by far the nicest lodge, it has amazing views over the lake and is so spacious.

We would highly recommend it and can’t wait to come back.

We had a lovely stay over New Year, Cabin is large and spacious.

Beds are comfy. It is situated in a beautiful area on the lake with amazing views out of the living room window. A large decking area on the lake.

We love Waterbird.

This was our second time in this lovely lodge. Although we agree with some other comments about it being a little tired in places mainly the kitchen area this didn’t take away from our stay. It’s so peaceful there and we have no doubt about staying there in the future. Location is fabulous.

WOW!

!!!!!!!!!!! totally amazing place. After reading some recent feedback I was wondering what to expect. But WOW!!! This place is unreal !! The views are spectacular. The lodge has everything you need for a nice break. Overlooking lake Windemere you can actually touch the water from the decking. 3 good sized bedrooms with one on suite. Spotlessly clean with lovely décor to suit. Plenty of room in the kitchen area which is open plan with all the utensils required. Was easy to book on line and we will be returning again next year. Would highly recommend Thank you very much for a wonderful stay.

Lodge looking a bit worn and decoration tired .

..couch looked very grubby. Outside area /patio could have better furniture and be made more off because the view is amazing. Telly in bunkbed room not tuned in and the batteries in the remote for the fireplace have worn out. Would stay again but only for the view.

The location of lodge was very good however cleanliness of lodge was poor, on arrival don't know what they clean the floors with but it was very slippery and my 84 year old mum nearly slipped on it,also countertops felt greasy, outside some of the decking is broken and a bit of a hazard as it is by the patio doors also could do with more lighting out there as very dark which i am sure is ok during summer nights but not very good when night are drawing in, definitely need updating.

Fantastic views comfy Lodge very clean would back again

Overall a really lovely property and the location is amazing, If there was one minor grumble it’s that it could do with a deep clean especially the cooker/oven and fridge.

Also a bit of general maintenance as some of the doors didn’t fit correctly and the patio door on to the decking had issues, however when we did report the patio door somebody came out within 24hrs to look at it.

Lodge is amazing with all the required facilities.

Clean, tidy and with views to die for. The off site health club a welcome bonus for adults to relax.

Everything was perfect, location was absolutely perfect view was amazing.

Everything you need was in the cabin, washing machine, iron, hair dryer, full size fridge/freezer. Spotlessly clean good size bedrooms with one ensuite. Spent 3nights could have stayed longer, didn't want to leave. I would Deffo return in the near future. I have spoke highly to friends and family

Superb setting on the lakeside.

Windermere is close by and has some great cafes and shops. We were a family of 5 adults on an early spring break and the property was warm and comfortable. Our only disappointment was the third bedroom which has two bunk beds not suitable for adults (not shown on photos). Kitchen had minimal cutlery and crockery and a cafetiere would be nice.

This lodge is all about location and it couldn’t be better.

We have stayed quite a few times at White Cross now and Waterbird lodge is by far the best one yet. Very bright and airy and the views were fantastic. Lodge was very comfortable and spacious. Just myself being a bit picky but I do wish people would hoover down the sides of armchairs/couches. But otherwise everything else was superb. We would certainly book this lodge again.

We had a lovely week at Waterbird.

The location was perfect on the edge of lake Windermere. Accommodation was very comfortable with all the facility's needed for a perfect break. The weather was as expected but with hats and coats on we found some lovely walks, country pubs with views over the lakes. Will we go back to Waterbird? Defiantly

Wow, what an amazing place, I would say the lodge has the best view in White Cross Bay.

I was a expecting it to be a little tired inside the lodge after reading the previous reviews so took a few cleaning products and air freshener, this was not required, the place was clean, inviting and very cosy on the cold October nights we stayed. I will definitely be booking again and would say to anyone reading these reviews, don’t hesitate, don’t let the previous reviews put you off it’s just perfect.

The Lodge is in a superb position with stunning views across the lake.

The lodge was lacking in finish for the price of the holiday - with damaged cupboard doors - internal freezer draw missing - on suite toilet seat requiring attention. All in all a relaxing break and these are minor issues but at the top end of the market these should be addressed and not left.

Having stayed in waterbird 2 years ago we were all excited to stay again, this time we took our own sun loungers as we knew this was the one item that was lacking.

However the lodge itself was disappointing, This isn’t a cheap lodge to rent and in my opinion not one penny is reinvested for the guests, the cream carpet in the living room is so stained and I could smell dog pee throughout, the living room furniture is also very badly stained, the mattresses are desperately needing changed and the middle room again badly smelt of dog pee. We had a spiders nest in the living room which was removed my the cleaner who was lovely, the living room blinds were broken and a girl did come to measure up for new ones one morning which had been pretty arranged. The television broke the first night any took until Thursday to be fixed and with no tv in either of the double bedrooms this was a major issue. The wi-fi is very very poor in the lodge and my son in law actually had to drive round the park to download films to his laptop to watch at night despite four calls for assistance and to get signals checked. The outside railings and glass fronts was filthy on both sides spoiling the view when actually sitting at the waters edge and the outside living room windiws were covered in grease and hand prints. I was so disappointed as we brought family and paid a lot for this lodge, the owners need to reinvest for the guests and not just reap the benefits as the lodge is really tired, the decking is damaged in parts the railings badly need stained and maintained and the metal furniture is rusty and well past it’s day. Very very disappointed and felt let down that we paid a premium at these times and in my opinion not one pillow or cushion looked or felt like it had been upgraded in two years never mind tile grout or carpet. Owners shouldn’t be complacent, yes you have the view but certainly not the facilities. With newer and more modern lodges available in the park, this was so overpriced and lacking basic expectations.

Beautiful location, disappointed with cleanliness and upkeep of lodge grubby three piece suit, mold on kitchen worktops, thick mold in en -suite shower ,carpets throughout badly marked, windows dirty.

We have stayed at the Waterbird for the past two years.

The lodge is in a fantastic location and the views are superb and we love being on the Marina. The park is very family friendly and has great facilities including a lovely restaurant. When we arrived at the lodge we were greeted with a lovely welcome bag of treats, this was a nice addition , The lodge is comfortable and has a large decking area to enjoy the views. Unfortunately inside of the lodge is very tired and needs updating, I reported a list of issues last year and it was similar if not worse this year. It’s nothing major but massively let’s this lodge down, the carpets are dirty and stained as well as the sofa - this was the same as last year. Some of the blinds are broken and discoloured, the kitchen cupboards are coming away around the cooker and the kitchen cupboard doors are different shades after some being replaced . Majority of the curtain hooks were falling out of the wall. Chair covers have been added to cover the old dinning chairs but the covers kept coming off when sitting on them. The sofa and chair are electric recliners, we had to switch them off at the wall to avoid our children being hurt. A coffee machine would be a lovely addition to the kitchen maybe a Tassimo or something similar. The decking and outdoor furniture is tired and could with painting and tidying up. Overall we had a lovely holiday, as we did last year, the location and space is what attracts us to this lodge. We have already booked the Waterbird for next year but unsure if we will return following year if the lodge is still the same condition, we don’t feel we are getting value for money or that luxury feel. The prices for this lodge have increased massively over the past two years, but I can’t see any improvements to this lodge. As a loyal returning customer of Lake District lodges and in particular the Waterbird, we have previously received 10% off our booking, but due to the company merging this has now been stopped, a new loyalty scheme has been introduced but I’m not impressed with it. I hope you find this feedback constructive.

Had a great holiday in a superb location and lovely lodge.

The lodge position was perfect and very comfortable. Everything we needed was provided including a slow cooker which was very useful and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. Only criticism would be stains on carpet and one recliner not working. Would definitely return thank you!

What an amazing place to stay.

Absolutely stunning! We have been coming to White Cross Bay for about 25 years and Waterbird exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful lodge in a fabulous location with wonderful views. Very spacious and well looked after. It has everything you need. We loved the hamper! Wish we could have stayed longer. We had a brilliant holiday

Absolutely stunning holiday home, the view is just perfect, the lodge is spacious and the welcome pack was a lovely thought on arrival.

I would definitely recommend it to family and friends. The only thing I could suggest would enhance the experience would be the addition of a hot tub on the decking area. Would love to return if prices are not over inflated (which they seem to be for next year sadly). Few small maintenance issues to be looked at as previously mentioned by guests but otherwise this is just perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful lodge.

Wow.

What more can be said about the view than this! A beautiful, lodge well set out and a fabulous decking overlooking the Lake. We had a wonderful week and didn't want to come home so we have booked it again to overcome our disappointment at having to leave. It was pretty perfect and the addition of some sun loungers would be the icing on the cake to take advantage of the location of the decking. We had a couple of maintenance issues (the patio door locking mechanism went which meant the lodge could not be secured) but the team arrived quickly out of hours to secure it and returned to fix it for the next guests as we departed. Also the fan oven setting did not work so it took 3 x what it should to cook anything (fan setting alone worked but not with the heat selection on which was bizarre) and maintenance assured me this would be fixed for my next visit. All in all absolutely loved it!

View was incredible!

However, the furniture on the decking area was not. Rusty metal furniture with the paint flaking off. Not great with young kids. Needs replacing. Property although nice, was tired in places. Kitchen cupboards need some attention, shower in en suite only had one setting… hot! Dressing table stool had a leg hanging off. The sofas are recliners, we had to switch them off as my kids wouldn’t stop playing with them. One of the arm chairs is remote control and goes completely up, which although my kids found fun… was not very child friendly with my younger child especially, the mechanics which are on view under the chair. This needs to be considered when hiring lodge out for young families. Also, lack of information… the lodge really was missing an information pack… a welcome… some site info and local info. There was nothing. First lodge we’ve visited where there wasn’t some sort of info left for visitors. Overall, the view saved the day, as it made all of the above bare able and made up for it. We did have a lovely stay and would recommend the lodge because of its positioning. But owners need to look at areas of lodge that need attention.

The lodge could do with some TLC there are slates missing off the blinds above the patio doors.

the living room chair has black like grease marks on from someones head,one of the chairs does not recline as the light is out on the power pack,the rack in the one bathroom and radiator are rusty, there is a sign saying only one vehicle can park at the lodge and when i booked was told two vehicles could park, there is a plinth in the kitchen that sticks out. The grill tripped the main electricts and we had to reset them from outside the lodge. The view from the decking and decking was fantastic.

The lodge location is unbeatable, the Lodge in the main, is lovely, I did however, leave a note for Maintenance, as there were, a few bits that needed attention.

That said it didn't spoil our holiday unduly, but it would benefit, from a little T.L.C.. However , on our day of departure, we experienced, a problem with our car,and had to vacate the lodge, and sit in our car, while we waited for RAC to arrive, because it was after the 10am departure time. But when your cleaning staff arrived, they very kindly offered us a cup of tea, and allowed us to use the bathroom, excellent customer service, well done to them, two lovely ladies, many thanks to those concerned, Regards Pat&Brian Taylor. What a view

On arriving to white cross bay the reception staff were very friendly and gave me a map of the park and position of waterbird lodge , so off we went to find it which was pretty easy . I walked up the lodge steps onto the balcony and already was saying ,"wow " to the views . Inside the lodge is absolutely fantastic , it was beautiful and clean ,very light and furnished tastefully. It had everything we needed (except a tin opener ) but apart from that we had all we needed . The views are stunning , such a lovely place to just chill sit and just be . We took our adorable little dog who loved it just as much as we did . I will certainly go back again , it was at the top end of our budget but my goodness I'm so pleased I booked waterbird. Relaxing and beauitful

We stayed here for four days it was the perfect place to relax. I felt the best position too. Very clean and up to date. We found The Waterbird to be very comfortable and spacious. It has a very large deck area which is totally secure for letting the dog free. We had a terrific week apart from weather, it didn't matter as we couldn't have had a better lodge and the position off it. Everything was perfect with it and would recommend it highly. Halloween Weekend Stay

Arrived late teatime on Friday, directions to Lodge were easy to find even in the dark. The park had made a tremendous effort to celebrate Halloween with a lot of activities for the children. Our Lodge was in a perfect location to enjoy the stunning views especially in the early morning and early evening. We didn't need to use our cars once there. as we enjoyed walking and hopping on and off the bus (every 20 minutes) to get to other places within the area. I would most certainly recommended this Park, so much in fact that I am returning again at the end of November. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Lodge with a WOW view over lake

What an amazing lodge. We had such a lovely Christmas in this lodge. So relaxing & views that cannot be beaten. On arrival easy check in. Large spacious lodge. Very clean. (Have never stayed in an LDLH lodge that isn't. ) Couple of issues that were resolved as soon as the office reopened. A few maintenance issues which we highlighted & will hopefully be rectified in this lodge during shut down. Beds extremely hard but suppose that is personal preference. Visited the onsite bar / restaurant. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Wouldn't hesitate staying here again & have recommended to others. Look forward to my next LDLH break in March. stayed at waterbird Lodge from the 24/07 for a week lovley location but needs a few maintenance issues addressed in the kitchen and the decking areas . All in all nothing that really affected our time there white cross bay is a great park also having stayed at both limefitt and fallbarrow this was my favourite due to location for walks and right in between ambleside and windermer. A great change of scenery during these testing times

A beautiful & spacious lodge in a magical position overlooking the marina & lake. The interior of the lodge is really homely and the bedrooms are spacious and not tight & compact unlike some of the other lodges we have stayed in. The decking area is large open and private and was great for our little dog Daisy to roam about on as it is totally enclosed. Suffice to say we are booking our next stay at this beautiful lodge.
