    “This is the second stay in the lodge.”

    It's almost perfect in every way. However the cleanliness on this visit was woeful. There was an empty water bottle, a fake eyelash, 2cpairs of socks and a false nail left behind in the bedrooms. The TV screen had what looked like child's handprints on it. The windows are filthy, which detracts from the views. And there were crumbs all over the kitchen area. It wasn't what we wanted to walk into on day one. Aside from that, the location is perfect the accommodation is well laid out and we will ...

The property

Set in a prime position in Fallbarrow Park in Bowness-On-Windermere, Cumbria is R6, a fabulous, single-storey lodge with everything you could want for a lakeside break.

With on-site facilities and an open-plan living area with vaulted ceilings and views of the lake, this lodge is the perfect escape for a group of six to enjoy the delights of the Lake District National Park.

On arrival, the open-plan, triple-aspect space invites you in to take in the views with its floor-to-ceiling windows and handy patio door leading to the decking.

Here, you can cook up a storm in the kitchen area, complete with an island and dishwasher, dine at the table for six, or sink into the sofas to watch a film on the Smart TV.

Outside, you can dine al fresco, or simply enjoy your morning coffee on the decking.

When it’s time to get some rest, make your way to the bedrooms, all of which are fit with storage for your belongings and TVs for late-night watching and lazy mornings.

The master bedroom is home to a plush double and a handy en-suite shower room where you can get ready for the day in style, while the remaining double and family room with a small bunk and a single, are serviced by a sleek family bathroom.

When you’re ready for some family fun, the park is home to a multi-use games area and outdoor children’s playground, along with an amusement room, while for dinner you can take a break and enjoy a meal at The Willow or stock up at The Barn Deli, Café & Shop.

Just a short walk away is Bowness town centre where you can find more eateries to enjoy, as well as watersports along the stunning Lake Windermere and for walkers, Queen Adelaide's Hill and Orrest Head Viewpoint.

Heading further afield you can find the popular town of Kendal, which hosts the Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Kendal Castle and the Kendal Golf Club.

BOWNESS-ON-WINDERMERE

Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is three miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There is also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and 'Go-Ape' adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

All holiday parks are owned and managed by a separate company to ourselves. Lake District Lodge Holidays has no association with the owners of these parks or responsibility for the provision of services they offer. At certain times of year, there maybe a reduction in those services, which is outside of our control.

Commercial vehicles, caravans, camper vans, Hen or Stag parties are not permitted onsite.

You will be staying on an operational holiday park, which means work may be undertaken from time to time by the park owners during your stay. Although Lake District Lodge Holidays will always try to inform guests in advance if something may impact on a stay and if we have prior knowledge. We cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for park operations of which are outside of our control and which we have no knowledge of.

Any issues relating to a stay at a privately owned lodge should be reported back through Lake District Lodge Holidays as the park are not responsible for managing the lodge or booking for private sublet guests during their stay.
