Dershel Lodge

Dershell Lodge was spotless and very well looked after , the beds were very comfortable as was the furniture in the seating area.

The kitchen area was clean and spacious , only downside was the fridge shelves had been damaged by previous guests I think and made it just that little bit harder to store bottles etc. The lodge is in a central location with easy access to pubs, chip shop and mini stores ( which are very expensive) take supplies with you or have them delivered by Tesco , Asda etc. Its just a short stroll down to the beach just past the John Paul Jones pub which is worth a visit as they serve excellent food and are very friendly.The lodge decking is very spacious and gets the sun from morning to night . There is an unobstructed view across the golf course and the sea and hills beyond. We were lucky to have hot sunny weather and it was brilliant sitting on the decking taking in the fantastic view. We have already booked to return to this fantastic lodge.I give it 5 stars.

Dershel Lodge is well kept and well designed , the owners have put a lot of thought into the necessities of self catering holidays.

Other than the sofa and chairs needing a bit of firming, it was in the top three best accomodations we've tried to date. The Site is good if you buy all your shopping before you get there, I'd strongly advise against using the onsite shop. Heed this warning or have a large credit card account handy. The shop next to the Lighthouse site isn't much better. The fish shop off site is worth trying and the 19th hole pub across the road is fine. The pub in the Lighthouse caravan site is well priced and friendly. Other than that, use the car and leave the alcohol alone.

of all the cottages we have had, this is the one that could do with a deep clean and some of the utensils replacing.

We booked a last minute stay and it was amazing, the whole accommodation was spotless so big inside.

We had the best time ever. Wish departure was a bit later. But overall definitely recommend.

A lovely property with good levels of comfort along with the great views across the golf course and the Solway.

A couple of items to mention are 1) lack of an information folder on available facilities/equipment and 2) no wi-fi code. We enjoyed our stay and the locality had a plentiful variety of things to see/do. Would defo visit again. David and Denise

Lovely lodge, not well cleaned, I left it much better than I found it. I had to buy batteries for the remotes, glasses so that 4 people could have a drink/ Orange juice in the morning.Advertised tv in bedroom didn't work, no shelves in fridge door. There was a drain smell from the utility which really needs sorting. There were 2 large plant pots at the back of the lodge which were reeking, the paving slabs,they stood on were covered in green slime. I did clean this area but the smell inside remained. All said and done, I would return, and hope to find more maintenance of a lovely lodge, in a fabulous position on site.

The lodge is a very comfortable place to spend a week or two.

We have a couple of gripes: it would seem previous occupants have abused the property somewhat as pans burnt and scratched and fridge without its door shelves - a shame really. Also it would be very helpful if owners left even brief details of a) waste disposal - everything goes in the dumpster near the site entrance, b) how does the heating work - switch it on/off at the boiler, c) you can only get BBC channels via OTA ie freeview otherwise you have to stream. Just something written on a piece of A4 is all that is needed. We were unfortunate to experience very windy weather and this makes the outside cladding squeak and creek considerably but that can't be helped. Generally positive impressions left overall.

This is our 3rd visit to Derschel Lodge and it didn't disappoint.

We love the location, views and the lodge itself. We find this ideal for our needs, very comfortable and has most things you need! The weather was kind this time too, so added bonus! Thanks for another perfect stay!

We had a lovely time and enjoyed Darshel Lodge.

Great space, clean, great outdoor space with table and chairs. Good parking. However! Front door lock very difficult to operate, no lodge instructions or information. Kitchen, not enough glasses for a lodge that sleeps 6! Crockery in general was sparse! No sharp knives! No bottle tray in fridge door! These comments are identical to one made by ‘Duncan’ in October 24!

Beautiful, spacious caravan with everything you need to relax and enjoy.

The view from the front is breathtaking. Looks over the golf course and the coast as well as the beach. Would highly recommend.

Spacious, comfortable and well presented, the lodge is nicely positioned overlooking the golf course and Solway Firth beyond.

The park facilities are not great & the onsite Nisa, overpriced but still an enjoyable stay and a good base to explore the area. Our only suggestion would be to upgrade the patio furniture with something more comfortable.

High quality lodge and although as expected on large caravan site , is in a premium quiet position with lovely uninterrupted views across the golf course to the bay and hills beyond .

You do have an onsite mini market plus pubs within a few minutes walk . As southerness on a headland if touring by car takes about 30 mins each way to meet main road connections, but well worth it as countryside is beautiful as is the coast , traffic almost non existent and the area almost off the tourist trail so we had a delightful break and a good choice if you want a nice and peaceful relaxing time

Overall the Property was lovely!

However there were a few minor issues with the lodge ! The outdoor furniture had no cushions on and we had my elderly parents with us which meant they could not sit out sadly

The lodge was fantastic the only hiccup was the weather was beautiful but we didn’t have access to the cushions of the outdoor furniture which was a shame

Stayed at dershel lodge last year, and again last week.

disappointed to find faults reported are still outstanding from a year ago. Fridge door still broken and tv in the main bedroom does not work at all, also two blinds in the lounge do not have closing/opening poles and tv reception in the main lounge is poor. Freezer 2nd draw iced over with a bag stuck in the ice?? Love the size layout and position of dershel it is a shame.

We loved our stay at Dershel Lodge, it was everything we expected, but.

It would have been nice if they had left an Information pack covering the simple things like how to operate the heating, TV, Wifi code, and instructions regarding the bins. Our observations, a small bin in the toilets and a non slip bath mat in the showers would be good. The lock on the front door was a bit iffy. Otherwise, Dershel Lodge is a Terrific place for a quiet break.

Fabulous as always, spotlessly clean, beds very comfortable, just an amazing space to be for peace, quiet and relaxation.

Everything we needed supplied for us. Lovely location scenery fantastic. Great for golfers. We had a great stay.

This was our second stay at Dershel and it didn't disappoint.

We love the location and outlook of the lodge. Very comfortable for our needs. Everything was as we remembered and loved. A couple of observations to note, which didn't spoil our stay but feel you need to know. The tin opener needs replaced, as it doesn't work and there were no baking trays to cook food. Luckily I did take my own baking tray! Also the kitchen lights over the island could do with a wipe. Sadly the weather was rubbish for two days, but we enjoyed the range of films available on the TV and enjoyed the lodge. Also for future guests, you can pay to use the swimming pool, without having to buy passes. Each swimming session is £5 per person, under 5s are free. We were sad to leave and will be back next year

Lovely lodge in a great location.

Outside seating area could do with changing as badly work/torn. Apart from that it’s a lovely place to stay. Oh, the main door lock is very difficult to lock/unlock. We struggled to get in on arrival.

Lovely property, set in a gorgeous location; peaceful and quiet with wonderful surrounding scenery.

Just a few small things to mention... Cleaning wasn't top notice in the property; more attention to detail is needed. Also was very low on cleaning products, had to purpose our own. With tin opener that didn't work either and a grab rail to help aid you getting in and the bath would have helped. But none of this spoiled our holiday... It was an excellent holiday, and would definitely recommend the historic (Robert Burns) walk around Dumfries. And, further afield the gorgeous scenery views around Wanlockhead where you learn/tour the history around the lead miners. (Wanlockhead Mining Museum) The Solway Coast line is almost never ending with spectacular views and so much preserved history.

Fabulous place to stay, spotless, spacious and very comfortable

We had a lovely stay at Dershel Lodge in Southerness.

The lodge was like a home from home, fully equipped with everything you require to enjoy your stay. We especially enjoyed the large TV with access to Netflix, Prime ect as well as the fact there was a washing machine. The lodge itself is beautifuly decorated down to the finest detail, even the room diffusers smell amazing! There is also lots of storage space and a walk in wardrobe in the master bedroom. The kitchen was great to cook in, very spacious with a big centre island. We have tried a lot of different accommodation on the park and this has by far surpassed them all. Best of all was the price, which is affordable for families on a budget. The process of booking was straightforward and friendly service from start to finish! Thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be back, wouldn't go anywhere else now.

The lodge was fabulous, clean and as described.

The view out over the golf course and to the sea was beautiful. It is on the Park Dean site and by far the nicest Lodge there. The onsite shop was very useful and the children enjoyed the pool. The village of Southerness is nice and the 2 pubs down there are good for drinks, food and entertainment. A lovely beach too. We would definitely return to Dershal Lodge if we were visiting the area again.

The lodge itself is perfectly situated with lovely views.

Very spacious and as described. Only comments would be under the settee had not been hoovered and the bed settee had a dirty sheet left under it so we did not use this and had to find an alternative sleeping area. The lodge would benefit from a hoover. Other than that we enjoyed our stay despite the site being a little quiet for us.

We had a lovely few days at Dershel lodge absolutely spotless And so quiet There was a great space out the front and the family next to us had kids who had a great time playing Will definitely be back Thank you

superb lodge, spacious, clean and well equipped.

so relaxing and peaceful. Short walk to beach and could easily drive to Kippford and Rockcliffe. Would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends and hope to return some time in the future.

Had a fantastic stay at Dershel Lodge, could not fault it abseloutly spotless Lodge, we had an issue with the power late at night and we called the owners Lindsay and Paul and they were willing to come to the lodge nothing was to much trouble for them , lucky enough the issue was resolved quickly no fault of the Lodge itself.

Comfiest beds I have slept in at any sykes properties and I have slept at many. Beach is a 2 minute walk away Lodge looks out onto a beautiful outlook of a quiet golf course and the sea. Only thing I would say is that it could do with is a chopping board and the cutting knives to be sharpened, but I am sure the owners will sort that out no problem as their Lodge is 5 star. Will certainly be rebooking to come back again.

Just returned from a fabulous 4 night family stay at Dershel Lodge.

The lodge is very comfortable and well equipped. Lovely views over the golf course and sea in the far distance. Well situated on the Parkdean site. Very peaceful. Looking forward to returning.

Fabulous lodge…shame about the weather…great views across to golf course and beyond…beds so comfy didn’t want to get up in morning…definitely one of the best lodges we have stayed in…LOVELY!
