Tilly Mint Cottage

Great cottage with access to the facilities in Whitbarrow Village.

Lovely and quiet (we stayed in October out of school holidays), the cottage had all of the equipment we’d expect and a lovely welcome pack giving great info on local restaurants and where to find petrol stations and shops - we found this really useful. Great location to explore the North Lakes, bag a few Wainwrights, and we even nipped over the border into Scotland for a day

We liked the cottage but think there should be full instructions on how to use the gas oven - we had never used one before and did not immediately realise it was a gas one.

Also, the switch for the fridge was hiding behind the toaster so we thought the fridge was not working, although the freezer was! Also, we thought the hanging cord for the shower was the emergency cord not how to put the shower on! These are little things but caused us some problems on our first night after a long journey.

We stayed at another property on the holiday park last month which was much less well equipped so it was great to see all the extras included here such as a great equipped kitchen, spare toilet rolls, a huge book and dvd supply and hand soap in the bathrooms. Also a great spot next a lovely field for playing and sunbathing! Perfect thank you!

Very nice stay.

Beautifully clean very well equipped with everything you could want and more. In a lovely quiet complex with good facilities. We went as party of 5 from 3 separate households and didn't feel like we were on top of each other. Bunk beds were the only small issue. Quite uncomfortable mattress and every time the small 5 year old moved on the top bunk it shook and woke up the older one. All rooms could do with better pillows as they are very thin and you needed at least 3 each. Only other thing to note with it being a reverse house is that everytime someone walks upstairs it sounds like a herd of elephants in the bedrooms!!

Swimming pool was not really available if had to be pre booked and was totally full so could not get any use of it

The accommodation was spacious and kitchen equipment was surplus to our needs.

Unfortunately the main double bed mattress was damaged and my husband ended up sleeping in another bed to help his painful back after the first night. Also, a very strong lingering food smell was present in the upstairs areas and this ruined our time in the property. Despite good contact from the cleaners, a solution was not possible during our stay. The facilities on the site were as advertised, however we received no arrival information about where to find the property in a huge resort. The provided post code led us into a private farmers yard and we were not aware that swimming had to be prebooked or where to collect equipment to play mini golf etc. The staff on site were pleasant and helpful. Sadly our little family didn’t enjoy the holiday as we’d hoped and felt disappointed including mostly broken and unusable items in the games room. We do not think the property should be listed until the food smells have been removed especially from carpets.

It was fabulous!

Everything, from the cottage, to the park, to the comfort…we were 3 adults, 2 teenagers, and a kid, and we had such a good time at the cottage and the area. Thank you for everything, for sure we’ll come back and recommend to others!

Beautiful house, everything you could think of was provided The facilities including pool, restaurant and bar were great and such beautiful grounds.

Very well equipped cottage.

Great location and really good amenities on site e.g. bar and restaurant , reception , pool , kids play park , kids playroom. All good. Staff were also very good , helpful and knowledgeable.

lovely homely property, warm and cosy with nice touches, all cutlery, pots and pans etc all immaculate, everything you needed is provided.

Only negative is poor Wi Fi reception and the Whitbarrow restaurant is expensive but very poor quality food, the local pubs however serve very good food.

Overall, we loved the property and the location, property was a little tired in places but there were obvious improvements such as the new carpet so it looks like the owners are making improvements when they can, the property was very clean and we would definitely stay here again.

Extremely clean and comfortable. The swimming pool and facilities on the site made the week very enjoyable despite the rain. Excellent service and accommodation.

Great cottage, fantastic complex with so much for the whole family to enjoy.

The property was the most well stocked accommodation we've ever stayed in, completely home from home. We would definitely go back. The only downside was the upside down element of the cottage as it wasn't as convenient to go outside and use the facilities outside from a bedroom. Saying that, it wouldn't deter us from staying there again.

Spent a week at Tillymint cottage during august.

We are a family of four and the cottage had plenty of room. It was clean and tidy on arrival and well stocked. We liked the fact there was things like drying maiden, hoover and cleaning products available. The site itself was amazing, kept clean and tidy and lovely and quiet. The playground, crazy golf and golf frisbee we’re fab! The pool was well maintained, and our kids loved they could go every day and that towels were available, which was really helpful. Staff were lovely and polite, always said hello and very attentive in the restaurant on site. Food was lovely albeit a tad pricey, however the activities that ran that week were definitely a nice added bonus. The area is beautiful and the closest big supermarket was about a 10/15 min run, so not bad at all. Lots to do in the Lake District, a week just isn’t enough and the odd day we decided to stay on site there was plenty to keep us occupied and the cottage had a really good selection of books and dvds. We did however have two minor points with the cottage; the plywood decking area upstairs did look a bit a dodgy but we know the cottage has not long been taken over, so I’m sure that will be dealt with, and the the key safe…was a bit tricky opening it and just wouldn’t open when it came to returning the key which made us panic and flap. Overall, we would definitely recommend Tillymint cottage to anyone and we will be booking again for next year as we enjoyed it that much

Great holiday village…the kids loved the use of the crazy golf and swimming pool! Fab location…perfect for exploring the Lakes.

Tilly Mint was an excellent place to stay, and Whitbarrow Village has superb facilities, with plenty of space and activities for the kids.

The house had a range of books and DVD's available. Only down point was the balcony floor, which was covered in OSB (Chipboard like material) which resulted in a splinter! Fantastic place to stay, would definitely return to the future. On site restaurant was good quality and reasonably priced. Pool is free and well controlled, all staff really friendly. Kids loved feeding the ducks. Weather in the August'22 heatwave was great too!

Lovely property, we enjoyed our stay, we loved all the little extras like toiletries and tea coffee etc and blankets for beds, books and dvd’s etc are all a lovely addition and make it feel much more welcoming, so much more than just a basic holiday home.

There were just a couple of minor tweeks that could be made to make it perfect. The bedroom windows let in a lot of light so blinds would be good behind the curtains, the oven knobs made it hard to work out the temperature of the oven so we had to guess. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this property again however. Thanks
