Dryfe Lodge

A beatiful location, friendly owners, loved it.

Our second stay in these lodges, this time Dryfe.

We have stayed in many clamping pods and this rates as one of the best for: size, comfort, facilities and beautiful area, a little traffic noise, but soon used to it, not heard when doors shut. I even found the switch under the sink for the headed bathroom rail. Our dog Freya was relaxed and happy, although a little scared of our visitor, the friendly Labrador. She was wagging her tail at I through the door at the end. One to watch if your dog is reactive, but it does go away and responds to commands. Hopefully, we will be back again next year.

Lovely place to stay would recommend to anyone

This was not the best week to choose to go on holiday but the cabin proved to be totally wind and waterproof, warm and comfortable.

One thing that may not have been mentioned before is that the car park area is not next to this cabin, it is about 50metres away, worth bearing in mind when packing in case you arrive in torrential rain as we did. The thoughtful owner had provided bread, butter, milk, tea and coffee so we could keep ourselves fed for a couple of hours till the rain stopped and we could fetch our luggage. Everything was spotlessly clean and worked, which are the main things that anybody wants. The only finishing touch we would have appreciated would have been a chest of drawers against the dividing wall in the bedroom to keep our things organised as we were staying for a week. In summary, a lovely place for a relaxing holiday with views over lush fields of grazing sheep and surrounding woodland.

Had a very restful few days at dryfe Lodge.

The Lodge was very clean and everything you need for a break. If I am being really picky the vent in the bathroom could do with a clean but other than that it was perfect. And it was nice to see the owners dog come for a visit. Would recommend to anyone. We will return.

My wife and I had a lovely week here, On arrival a young man came out of the farm and asked if I needed any help with the bags etc.

He asked me about my dogs and said his dog may visit us .The accomodation was beautiful and clean, wasn't sure how the job worked to start but we sussed it out.I love that you have a hosepipe outside for those dogs or people who like to get really dirty. Had a lovely stay would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay.

The lodge was well equipped and clean with beautiful views. The hosts were really good and responsive. The only thing that we felt missing was the mats in entrance and bathroom to keep the floor clean all the times else you need to wipe it multiple times specially if you have a crawling baby around. The other advice for people coming to the lodge is to use the navigation instructions provided here on Sykes not the Google ones else you’ll be keep roaming around to find the exact location as we did until we contacted the owner to guide us. Overall it was a fabulous experience and we will definitely stay again.. ❤️

Just a perfect get away.

As always Dryfe Lodge provided a safe & comfortable stay.

The surroundings and views are second to none and there is always warm welcome from the hosts. A great stay if you want to “get away from it all.” We were sad to leave.

Great an accommodation, nice peaceful location but easy to get to nearby towns easily by car.

The lodges/pods are lovely, comfortable and very clean and the area is well maintained with nice views.

The provision of bread, butter, milk, juice, tea and coffee is a really thoughtful and welcome touch. The rest of this review is not meant as criticism but for information to potential visitors. No point to take lots of food/drinks as there's nowhere to store with only a tiny fridge. Advise taking a towel for the entrance floor as there's no mat to stop the mess if it's raining. There's also nowhere to put your clothes but it's a pod not a hotel or b&b so you can't expect too much. It's a little difficult to locate from the instructions as it's actually on Bishopscleugh farm and down an easy to miss side track. There's no welcome, help or information from the owners when you arrive which we found strange and no interaction in any way while you're there at any point so take your own towels if you want them changed. There are phone numbers provided in your info email though. Advertised as 'dog friendly' but more 'dog tolerant'. Take blankets or throws to put on the furniture as they aren't allowed to go on. The owners' two dogs are able to roam around freely in the field the pods are in (though not usually completely unattended) so you have to keep your dog on a lead which could be an issue if your dog is reactive. Also hens can wander around within your enclosure which is nice but no good if your dog has never encountered them before and wants to play chase with them or barks a lot every time they see them! Not a lot to do in the nearby vicinity within walking distance and the nearest dog friendly pub is a good 30-40min walk away unless there's another we didnt find. Overall we had a nice stay but wouldn't return.

We had a fabulous week staying in the pod.

Our whole week was sunshine, which made waking up to the fantastic views a pleasure. The pod itself is well made and is comfortable for two people, however extra bedding is available in the bed settee. WiFi and water pressure is good. I did feel that there was room for a set of drawers or some kind of storage in the bedroom area as living out of your suitcases for a week was a bit messy. The kitchen was well equipped. I think supplying an air fryer would make it perfect. The town of Lockerbie is only a few minutes drive away for supplies..

Cosy, well equipped Lodge.

We recently spent four nights here, it's a lovely little lodge for a break away. There is a welcome pack of bread, milk, butter and orange juice which was lovely. Take your own tea, coffee and sugar, we hadn't realised so soon had to go back out. We found it quite difficult to find in the dark. The what3words took us somewhere down the road, the what3wordsfor the start of driveway is ///luxury.weekend.static A doormat would be ideal, when the dogs are in and out the floors are soon getting wet and grubby. Also a spray or flash mop or something would have been great to be able to quickly go over the floors, as again, with the dogs in and out we had to keep using wipes which was a pain. We didn't actually meet the owners which we thought a little odd but I guess some may appreciate it? Overall we had a really nice break, the kids loved it and loved seeing the sheep and horses just outside and we found plenty to do in the area

Gorgeous little cabin!

Very clean, warm and comfortable. Would happily stay again. If I can give any kind of constructive criticism it would be that maybe some instructions for the hob would be useful (as someone who has always used a gas hob, it took quite a bit if working out!). Oh, and maybe a doormat for when you come in after a rainy walk would be useful.

We were both thoroughly impressed with our stay here.

The area is beautiful, the lodge itself is lovely and we were very comfortable. We appreciated the welcome items, especially the butter and orange juice. The whole vibe was immaculate and we have already told a few people about our stay and would gladly stay here again if we're in the area. (our only very tiny issue was not being able to turn the towel heater off so when we got back from a long day out, the lodge was like an oven but we would not let this stop us from staying again! I bet it's amazing on a cold day :) ) Thank you

We had a good week at Dryfe lodge.

The only small criticism would be that there were no instructions for the tv or heater although after some trial and error I did work how to use them. One other thing that you would need to be aware of is that there is nowhere to hang your clothes. A line of coat hooks on the bed partition would be ideal. As I say, just small points.

This is a lovely lodge to use as a base to explore Dumfries and Galloway.

It is well equipped, modern and very comfortable with beautiful countryside views. We really appreciated the welcome pack on arrival. Can highly recommend it.

Such a lovely place!

We loved every single moment there! The views are just to die for. Lots of space for our dogs to run around outside too. The place was very well maintained, clean and cosy! Would highly recommend!

!! Would have been nicer to have a bigger fridge and a little storage for food or clothes etc, but it was lovely. Thank you so much for the orange juice, butter, milk and bread!!! The views and the pod itself was homely Would love to come back!

Very enjoyable stay, the only small fault we could find was no doormat.

We used one of our own towels to do the job. Other than that it was great, would definitely come again and recommend to others.

This isn’t a criticism, for OUR stay a bigger fridge would have been better.

We like to take plenty of fresh food and drink with us. Hence a bigger fridge.

This was the ideal place to stay when visiting in the local area.

We arrived in glorious sunshine, sat on the decking enjoying the amazing views including the field of cows and sheep! The lodge was spotlessly clean, so comfortable - great how it was designed to provide everything you’d need but not cramped at all. Perfect place to come back to and relax after all the sightseeing etc. Great welcome pack too, loaf and butter lasted the whole week! Loved this place and didn’t want to leave!

We had a lovely holiday.

the lodge was a perfect base for exploring the area. The lodge was very clean & comfortable. We loved coming back to it after enjoying our time out and about and sitting out on the patio looking over the beautiful countryside.

From the minute that we arrived it was clear that everything was fine.

There was a small pack of bread, milk etc and the lodge was perfectly clean. WiFi was available after contacting the onsite owner. The lodge was in peaceful surroundings which had fenced cows and sheep only a few feet away and free range chickens which introduced themselves to my dog. Excellent value for money.

Lodge was amazing ,great views , spotlessly clean , was there with 2 kids and small dog all thoroughly enjoyed our weekend .

Stayed in Lodge 2 4/8/23 for 7 nights.

Fabulous. Well appointed, clean and well maintained. Lovely quiet setting with great views over the countryside. We found it to be a great central location for visiting the Solway coastline, Hadrians Wall, Caledonia Park Gretna and the Lakes, to mention a few. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to this lodge in the future.

Stayed in Lodge 2 on 16/7/23 for 4 nights with my wife and small dog.

This property exceeded my expectations in all area's . The pod is spotlessly clean and maintained to the highest standard by the hosts . It is equipped with everything you require for a relaxing break and has outstanding views. I rate this proprerty as luxurious and it fully deserves a 5* rating. I look forward to another visit in the future
