Mere Brook Lodge

Very disappointed doesn’t state where lodge is,basically on top of hill surrounded by trees,barely any sunlight getting through,no view,beds were like trying to sleep on concrete all for £711 paid and due to this came home after just 2 nights as me and my wife and my 18 year old son were all aching trying to sleep on said beds,would not recommend this lodge to anyone,we had previously stopped at another lodge 2years ago and had a lovely time,but not on this occasion

Lovely property.

Lots of hot water, good heating system and smart tv so plenty to watch after being out all day. Was able to sign into different streaming services too. Beds comfy and lovely quality bedding, plenty of storage in bedrooms too. Kitchen well equipped, I brought bench spray and sponges. Washing liquid and jay cloth only provided so bring anything else you think you will need. There was some sunflower oil and salt and pepper too. We didn’t get to use the outside space due to weather and being out all day when weather was good but lots of seating and peaceful with no one overlooking you. There is a shoe type cupboard just near the door which was handy in the wet weather and there was also a box with different games in the living room. Highly recommend, will def be back. However, the only downside for us was the smell in the bathroom. I think it’s the drains but we had to keep the door closed day and night as it was really strong and awful. We did report it to Sykes which was shocking, took days to reply, kept getting messages saying they had to close the chat after 24hrs due to no reply, when it was them who hadn’t replied!!! Someone did come out eventually but as far as I could tell, they only left a can of air fresher and no change with the smell and no update was ever given, despite asking twice. I wouldn’t let it put you off booking as the property is great and we would def be back but Sykes’s need to look at their customer service.

We had a great stay at Mere Brook lodge, the lodge was clean and comfortable.

We never experienced any water pressure issues when showering like others have reviewed. The sofas are comfy, and there is instructions for the microwave and oven because the symbols have worn off slightly. The lodge is in a good location not far from different places to visit off site. We would definitely stay here again sometime.

The property was very clean and well equipped, it would have been helpful if there had been instruction leaflets/ books for use of equipment i.

e. Microwave, oven . The property is located on a wooded slope with access via very steep windy narrow track which is not suitable for elderly or disabled people. We found it hard walking up and down. The double bed mattress could go with a change it was saggy and uncomfortable.

Whilst the decor was modern and had clean lines, everything was grey, so depressing, especially for somewhere you are holidaying.

The settees were incredibly uncomfortable, providing no support whatsoever. The shower was disappointing as it wasn't particularly powerful, and you can't open the shower room window because it was directly on the road. The bed was comfy and we had plenty of room in there to put all our stuff and move around. We didn't use the twin room as there was no need but that was small. The kitchen was nicely laid at and had all the crockery and cutlery required. The oven needs instructions because the labels have all rubbed of so you can't see the setting needed.
