    “The property felt good on arrival.”

    Nice location and good design for the chalet. On the surface the property was very well presented. It subsequently transpired it has a few shortcomings. Good potential, but currently unrealised. 1. It’s position next to the river is part of the marketing, but any view of it’s obscured by a large man-made riverbank, presumably as a defence against flooding. There is also no access to the river, which can only be done with a 10 minute walk in either direction along the street outside (no ...

    Nice location and good design for the chalet. On the surface the property was very well presented. It subsequently transpired it has a few shortcomings. Good potential, but currently unrealised. 1. It’s position next to the river is part of the marketing, but any view of it’s obscured by a large man-made riverbank, presumably as a defence against flooding. There is also no access to the river, which can only be done with a 10 minute walk in either direction along the street outside (no pavement). 2. It was a little bit grubby in places. Small things, but the cutlery, other kitchenware and the oven weren’t very clean. 3. The heating is on a single thermostat with others disabled, which leads to hot and cold spots. 4. Maintenance issues. Some of the built-in blinds are broken and cannot be closed, leaving a sense of being in a goldfish bowl. The locks for one set of bi-fold doors were broken, meaning they could have been levered open with a small bit of force. Many people will be unable to open the wardrobe door in the main bedroom because it’s so stiff. The biggest issue was the site is still being developed. The works/ maintenance hut is permanently located less than 5 metres from the main bedroom window, which doesn’t make a great view. Trucks and machinery are parked outside. There are 5 or 6 chalet plots still under construction. One was being built during our stay. Bulldozers and cement trucks from 7am. Loud and inconsiderate workers. This also meant the ‘secure’ gates for the site were left wide open all day and night, which wasn’t great with the broken bi-fold doors. Lots of potential, but not great at the moment.

The property

This superb, detached ground floor lodge is situated on the outskirts of Gargrave alongside the River Aire amongst a small development of luxury lodges.

This modern lodge has been skilfully constructed with excellent features.

Presented to a high standard with contemporary styling throughout, the lodge is spacious and comprises an open plan living area with a designer kitchen with a Belfast sink, a breakfast bar, dining area and a sitting area with lovely views through the full length windows out across the park to open countryside.

There is a lovely master bedroom with an en-suite containing a state-of-the-art shower.

A further twin bedroom and superb bathroom add further to the first-class feel of this lovely lodge.

Bi-fold doors from the living room lead out onto the front decked area which is ideal for relaxing.

This property is lovely and cosy in the winter.

This fantastic lodge is just a short walk from Gargrave where you will find some excellent amenities.

There are many walks available in the area and the canal is just a short stroll away where you can go on some lovely bike rides, perhaps all the way to nearby Skipton.

The surrounding area is ideal for walkers and cyclists and this lodge provides an ideal base to return to at the end of the day.

GARGRAVE

Skipton 4 miles; Settle 12 miles.

A pretty village on the banks of the River Aire, around 7 miles from Malham, with its spectacular limestone cove and scar. In the village you will find a selection of places to eat including a fantastic Indian restaurant, along with a small selection of pubs, cafes and shops. Traversed by the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, cycle route 68 and the Pennine Way, Gargrave is a fantastic base for exploring this part of Yorkshire. Four miles away is the ancient market town of Skipton — “The Gateway to the Dales” — with its historic castle and celebrated high street. On the border of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this is an ideal location for walking, cycling and touring.
