Charming cottage,good location and friendly neighbours.

Quiet location, lovely garden, comfortable and clean .

In spite of hot weather we and dogs were able to keep cool in the property. Would recommend.

. very private and quiet. Neighbours met on our walks were friendly and helpful. Pub welcoming and has small shop and sells bags of ice cubes! also homemade ice cream..yummy! only 7 miles from Louth ..lovely town with small shops and market 3 days a week.

Just one suggestion is that maybe some stepping stones could be put down to access the grass to the lovely garden. Lucy our greyhound really struggled on the gravel.

Clean and everything we needed for our requirements including a fantastic enclosed garden for our dog Toby to explore. The welcome pack for us and Toby was a nice touch. Great location for visiting the coast and larger towns like Louth. Very handy pub within minutes from the property which served lovely food. Definitely return in the nr future.

This lodge is clean, comfy and well equipped.

We had such a peaceful relaxing week there. The garden was so secure for our dogs they had a great time exploring it. Goodies and treats for the dogs were a lovely touch. This is a really lovely cottage - comfortable, clean and well appointed, not just with the basics but lots of additional touches.

It was easy to get in touch with the owners who were very responsive. There was plenty of space for parking and a lovely garden for our dog to play in. I would highly recommend it.

Clean and comfortable with everything you need for a self catered stay. Our dogs loved playing in the large garden and enjoyed the walks around the village and beyond. Would like to return at some time in the future.

This is our 4th stay at Anvil Lodge and as before the standard is very high.

There is everything you need for a relaxed holiday - everything is very clean and thought about for the comfort of the visitor. The village is so peaceful and the residents very friendly. We enjoyed many walks from the door with our Border collie - it was his first time at the cottage and he settled well having the large enclosed garden was a bonus.

Perfectly located for exploring The Wolds.

Goucleby is a very quiet village with no shop, so you need to be prepared to travel to shop although there is a pub in the village.

. This was just as we liked it. Anvil lodge had a lovely well come pack for us.even treats for my dogs. There is everything you need, a book shelf with books on the area, OS maps and a routes of local walks. Anvil Lodge was very clean and comfortable equipped with everything you need. Most important to us is the large secure garden for my dogs. Will be returning again for an other holiday soon. Can highly recommend if you want somewhere quite and peaceful.

Lovely old fashioned cottage. Well equipped. The most dog friendly cottage we have stayed in. Goodies left for the dog as well as the guests. Lovely garden , thoughtful games room in the garage. Set in a very quiet peaceful village. We hope to go back again.

Comfy lounge and beds. Garden lovely to sit in after a day exploring, the dog's loved it too. Lovely thought of the pool table and darts board in garage especially for a rainy day. Well situated for getting to places, coast and other villages and ww11 air museums. Pub 5 minutes walk.

We had a fantastic week at Anvil Lodge while visiting family in the area.

Anvil Lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. It was great to be able to bring my dog with me, she really loved the large garden. The hosts provide a house book full of information about the property and the local area as well as a book on local walks etc. Both were very helpful as well as interesting reading about the history of the property. We will definitely be checking if Anvil Lodge is available when we plan our next trip to see the family!

Lovely big garden for the dog to sniff around. Well catered property - everything you need for a short or long stay. Very quiet village location - perfect base for walking or cycling holidays.

Once again we had a relaxing week at Anvil Lodge plus the bonus of good weather so we were able to enjoy the tranquil garden.

We had everything we needed at the cottage. Found some new locations to take the dogs for walks at Hubbard’s hill, Willingham woods and Mablethorpe beach. So many places to visit and not enough time. We will be back!

Lovely clean and comfortable cottage with a big garden.

Bonnie the Sprocker loved the garden. The footpath opposite leads to Viking Way, nice walks. Quite a few good eating places all within an easy drive. Two Bluebell inns and The Black Horse can be recommended. Think we may be back.

Stayed here several times which speaks for itself.

Clean and comfy in a quiet relaxed beautiful and friendly Lincolnshire village. Very dog friendly with a lovely enclosed garden and you can drive your car right through and shut the gates. Perfect escape.

Great little cottage.

We enjoyed a second stay at Anvil Lodge in May. Again we were lucky with lovely weather and sat in the garden most afternoons with our dogs and a G&T. There are some excellent public footpaths for dog walking in open countryside and the pub/mini shop at the end of the road serves and sells high quality food. If you visit Louth call in at the cheese shop for local produce. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and close at hand; the cottage is comfortable and well equipped and we’ll be staying here again.

Extra bits for the dog was a lovely touch, as we're the galaxy biscuits! We really enjoyed our stay.

The lodge was very welcoming, and very well equipped, in a beautiful location, we stayed when the temperature was very cold and did find the house too cold for us but I think that might be us being used to a warm house, sorry!

The garden was lovely but the large stone driveway which is only access to garden was very painful for our elderly dog and she cut her paws several times, otherwise perfect place but maybe not so dog friendly surface for all dogs!! Otherwise would book again in warmer months!!

Just returned from our 2nd stay at Anvil Lodge and is was just as wonderful as the first time.

It is a lovely property, comfortable, clean and set in a beautiful dog friendly garden in a lovely village. Loads of lovely walks close by and easy access to local towns and the coast. We loved our stay.

It was so peaceful and everything was provided. The beds were comfortable and everywhere was spotless. The garden was very secure even for our miniature dachshund who loved running around the garden. Definitely stay again

Our third time staying at Anvil lodge.

Very comfortable and clean as always. We love the enclosed garden and the walks straight from the door. The village people are very friendly - we were lucky with some sunny weather and our few days passed so quickly.The attention to detail in the lodge is amazing with so many references to the blacksmith who used to work there years ago. Very comfortable bed and an easy to use shower and everything you needed to do self catering cooking. Great and happy holiday let.

Anvil Lodge is perfect for a relaxing time away.

It's comfortable, warm, spotless and well equipped; there's plenty of space indoors and the enclosed garden/driveway ideal for our two dogs. Whilst very rural, it's a lovely area, there are several nice local walks and you don't have to go far for some fabulous views. It's also not far from the markets towns of Louth, Horncastle and Alford and the coast is less than one hour away (Anderby Creek being our favourite). Understandably the local pub (Three Horseshoes) is currently closed for the winter (open again Spring 2025) but can recommend the Black Horse at Donnington on Bain, a mere 10 mins away, with its friendly staff and delicious food.

We really enjoyed our relaxing stay at Anvil cottage, just what we needed. Goulceby is a lovely village - it was our first holiday in the Lincolnshire Wolds, it won't be be our last. The cottage was more spacious than we expected but still cosy, well decorated and very clean. Poppy the dog loved the big garden too. Thank you for a restful break.

Lovely cottage in a very quiet village.

Very well equipped with everything we needed, clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable and the cottage was sufficiently warm without being too hot. Great cottage for taking a dog as has a secure garden and the dog bowls and treats were very much appreciated. Thank you for the welcome pack of milk and shortbread it was a nice touch.

A laundry basket would be ideal.

Maybe a shelf in the shower cubical and in the bathroom for toiletries.

Anvil Lodge was a delightful place to stay.

It was very clean and comfortable, and had a lot of useful information about the surrounding walks, which we enjoyed exploring. We appreciated how dog friendly it was, with the extra thought that had been put into making our four legged friend welcome, and the little treats left in the fridge for us too! It was a great holiday for us, where we just wanted to relax in a peaceful environment and enjoy walks in the beautiful countryside. We would highly recommend. Thank you Anvil Lodge!

Peaceful property with a great outdoor space.

For a short break the facilities are ideal and the location means all the important areas of interest are within easy reach.

Lovely setting and a very peaceful area.

Cottage was clean and nicely presented with ironworks befitting the history of the cottage having been a blacksmiths in an earlier time. Our dog enjoyed her doggy treats plus all the extras and loved the huge, secure garden too. On a slight negative note, the property summary mentions a shop and pub a 4 minute walk away. However, we discovered there had been no shop there for some time. There was a small convenience shop 25 minutes return and a large Tesco in Horncastle a 45 minute journey away. Not a great issue but prior notice of there being no shop in the village would have been appreciated.

This was the most spacious holiday cottage we've stayed in.

Clean and comfortable, with a large garden, plus a shed with a pool table and a dart board ! It was a good base for all the places we wanted to visit. Although we don't have any dogs, I can see why this is perfect for them too. I would recommend this property and wouldn't hesitate to book it again for future trips. Thank you again

Our third wonderful stay at Anvil Lodge.

Quiet relaxing place to stay. The separate kitchen suits us & our dogs extremely well. They can be shut in there while they dry off after a wet walk.. The garden is perfect for dogs to run free. Not too manicured but very pretty flowers of many varieties. Lawn is nicely mown. The cottage is very comfortable. Nicely furnished & not cluttered. The wrought iron chairs & bed frames are geared to the forge theme, amazing.

Relaxing place to visit.

Little to complain about as we Brits tend to do. The odd window wouldn’t open, and require TLC. Other than that, beautiful garden and surroundings. If you like things to do, not for you. However, if mindfulness is your thing, then a fab place to visit. A good base to see Lincolnshire, but a lot of driving required. We walked, everyday, paths well signposted. Communication between our hosts was informative, yet unintrusive. I would recommend for those seeking peace and quiet.

It had everything we needed. Quiet location with walks from the door. Accommodating dog friendly pub just minutes walk and great food too. Out first time in the area and we are just about to book our return!

Such a lovely comfortable cottage with everything you need for an easy stay.

The attention to detail was amazing even the door key ring had an anvil attached! We found Tesco in Horncastle quite adequate for our food shopping. It was so good to have walks from the door and everyone we met was friendly. Our Border Collie loved the garden and settled quickly. If you love the countryside and enjoy walking we would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

A lovely cottage and garden.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Our dogs loved the garden as did we, sitting in the shade while throwing a ball. There are dog walks straight out of the door, open countryside with deer, foxes and other wildlife. Magnificent birdsong at this time of year without traffic noise to mute it. The village is small and quiet with little traffic, but Louth isn't far with the individual shops etc on the High st. We travelled to Anderby Creek a couple of times for a beach and sea "fix". Needless to say we are returning next year. Thank you Eve and Jeff for being such good hosts.

Beautifully presented, this warm and cosy cottage was very well equipped.

A large, well-maintained and secure garden was appreciated by our dog. The garage was enhanced by a dart board and pool table which would have been great for a young family. Goulceby is on the Viking Way and there is excellent walking within a few yards from the house. Local pub is literally a couple of minutes walk away and very welcoming, although only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday during our stay. Louth, Lincoln and Hornchurch are close and the cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the Lincolnshire Wolds. A superb cottage which is a great credit to Eve and Jeff, the owners.

ANVIL LODGE , was lovely with a big enclosed garden and the set up in the garage where you can play pool or darts with radio is fab especially if you get bad weather, I did leave feed back about putting wire on the gate for use with really small dogs as the cap they could get through and a light to the back of the cottage and there's was lovely welcome gifts, milk biscuits tea,coffee and sugar, and treats for the dogs, I would go there again and there's plenty of walking straight from the door,

The accommodation was very clean and welcoming.

Andrew, our 4 year-old grandson, felt very at home straight away. And he even mistook Geff as Father Xmas when he appeared at the door. He turned up the heating when we requested it without any complaints.

For us this was a lovely homely cottage.

Great care had gone into it being so clean and tidy and there was available everything we needed during the week. We loved the way that the cottage was decorated in tune with the blacksmith/anvil history. The enclosed garden was ideal for our dog and there were many walks straight from the door. We found Tesco at Horncastle which was adequate for food shopping and not too far away and the fridge/ freezer was a good size. We had a very relaxing week so thank you Jeff and Eve for letting us stay xx

This cottage was really lovely proberly the best one we have stayed at was well equipped clean the garden was fantastic my dog Ragnar loved it all fully enclosed the welcome goodies were much appreciated would love to visit again sometime

Its in a lovely village with great walks and is in a convenient location for Horncastle/Louth and getting to the coast! Thank you very much for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, we will be back!

the garden was one of the best i've seen. ok it rained for the first couple of days but did'nt matter at all. there was so much information about the cottage and surrounding areas that we could do. we had the best time there and the dogs loved the garden although be careful of the gap under the gate our dogs found it! there are boards that you put across the gate to stop them getting out. all in all it was a lovely holiday

We found the settee and easy chairs in the lounge quite uncomfortable.

The facilities in the rest of the property, and indeed the large enclosed outside space, were very good. One of the better Sykes holiday cottages in which we have stayed.

Lovely bungalow and garden in delightful, quiet village.

Garden well fenced for those with dogs. The property was clean and cosy, great shower! Plenty of information provided about the area, walks, nearest shops, places of interest, etc. Just one little thing..we spent a lot of time in the garden and felt that it could do with more comfortable garden seating. There were just a couple of deckchairs, and one was a bit rickety, making it a challenge to use! That aside, a very pleasant stay with a friendly pub a few minutes walk away that serves good food.

Everything about it was perfect for us all. Our middle aged dogs enjoyed the many walks around the area. The property had a wonderful private garden for both dog and human. The lodge is very spacious, well maintained and homely. Brilliant shower and comfortable beds. The local pub 5 mins away was friendly with good food too.What more can I say. You won’t be disappointed. We certainly were not and have already booked for next year.!

What a hidden gem!

We had such a lovely relaxing weekend at Anvil Lodge. It's got a beautiful garden and the cottage has everything you should need! Dog friendly too and secure fir your pooch! The Three Horseshoes pub is a little walk to the left of the property and is also really nice. We only saw 1 car whilst we were there, so lovely and quiet. We bumped into the owner, Jeff, on a dog walk just before we were leaving. Lovely man! Eve was there on hand to as I left my earrings in the cottage. Lovely people but they leave you to it which is what we like. Will definately be back! Nice welcome pack too! Thanks ❤️

We loved Anvil Lodge great location for visiting the surrounding areas, Lincoln, Louth, Mablethorpe, Skegness.

Our little dog Stella loved running around the garden. The cottage is very well equipped could not fault it. Lovely welcome pack on arrival would definitely visit again.

A lovely cosy cottage in a friendly and peaceful location.

Perfect retreat for us and our two greyhounds with ample room and large gated garden to drive into. Would recommend.

Lovely property-huge garden -comfy bed and large spacious kitchen with separate dining room if required.

My personal preference is a 3 seater sofa but lounge on the small side so no space-very quiet get away from it all place in a lovely village. Would stay here again.

Character, cosy cottage with lots of history.

Very comfortable with all you need for a holiday. Hosts are very helpful and responsive as necessary. Beautiful garden. Tranquil village with lots of walks in a beautiful countryside. The local pub have friendly owners and provide meals which is convenient. Short drive to nearby towns with amenities. A peaceful haven. Would recommend without any hesitation.

The lodge is comfortable and spacious and our hosts were fabulous. We had everything we needed for a relaxing break including a thoughtful welcome pack - thank you. The garden is quite large and the owners have thought of everything to keep your dogs safely enclosed. The lodge is in a peaceful village and the locals were lovely and friendly. There are walks from your doorstep to explore the pretty wolds and the beautiful historic city of Lincoln is not far away.

We had a lovely stay in this cosy, characterful cottage.

It was ideal for us as we have two dogs and the garden was perfect for them. We very much appreciated the numerous walks from the village which, again, were ideal with the dogs.

We had a Brilliant stay.

The cottage had everything that you needed. Set in a very quiet location yet only a 10 min drive to Horncastle. With many places of interest within 30 minutes drive. Eve left a very welcoming welcoming gift and informed us that if there were any issues which there wasn't, she would be available to resolve at anytime. If we are back in that part of the world again then we would definitely stay in Eves Anvil Lodge. Throughly recommended.

Absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful, clean, very well equipped cottage, we can't honestly find one fault at all, the welcome goodies from the owners were very thoughtful and the information file gave us all the info we could need - we also loved reading about the history of the cottage and the village, we were lucky to have good weather while we were there so went out everyday - the cottage is in a great position and not far from local places of interest and the coast, we were all sad to leave - especially our dogs who loved the garden, really hope to return to this little gem - we are so happy we found it!

Anvil Lodge is excellent value for money.

The welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, biscuits and wine was a lovely surprise. Everything you need is provided. It is very peaceful with excellent walks nearby. The garden is large, secure and well maintained. There is no mobile phone signal but the WiFi was excellent.

Well-equipped cottage had all the essentials.

The most dog friendly cottage we have ever stayed in (over 30 years). Nice to have some basic provisions left. Nice to have the games room in the garage.

The property was spotlessly clean , it has everything you could need . The large enclosed garden was fantastic for Henry my German shepherd . Anvil lodge was perfect for us , just what we was looking for peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely be staying again and for longer next time . A weekend wasn't long enough. This cottage is in such a peaceful location and is clean and comfortable.

The owners live close by and are very helpful but not intrusive. Great place to chill out and relax, and is ideal if you are bringing your four legged friend due to the large enclosed garden. Plenty to do and see within easy reach. Mobile phone signal non existent but we just used WhatsApp to contact family if required. One small point is that a couple of grab rails would be very useful in the bathroom, but that’s a minor thing and didn’t detract from a very enjoyable break.

The cotttage and the owners were both excellent.

Unfortunately we had to return home on monday due to a call from southend hospital regarding my daughters chemo therapy treatment. Icannot fault the accomodation or the owners of Anvil Lodge and I will re-book as things get better. Yours sincerely Grahah hare.

Fantastic holiday home.

Garden is amazing and a real highlight. The area is very quiet and peaceful. We were unlucky with the weather but still able to get out and about. Walks from the door. We did find that we had to drive a lot to do things 'touristy' during the day. Great place!

Absolutely lovely cottage, spotlessly clean.

Kitchen is very well stocked with utensils and pots/pans etc. Internet download speed is good for casual browsing - I don't stream or game, so can't comment on whether it would be adequate for this. I didn't use the beds in the twin room, but the double bed in the main bedroom is very comfortable (I have a bad back which sulks if it doesn't like a mattress, for which reason I am always a bit apprehensive when staying away from home). TV reception is a bit hit and miss, but it was very overcast and rained for much of my stay (at the beginning of December), which can't have helped. Garden is a good size, mainly laid to lawn, and secure for dogs. The owner is very helpful and obliging, and sent me an email the morning after I left to let me know I'd forgotten my radio. They live near the cottage and are happy to be contacted, should there be any issues during your stay. Very highly recommended for dog owners.

Lots of books and DVDs as well for rainy days. Village is very nice for local walks and there is pub nearby too serving homemade ice cream!

Anvil cottage totally met our needs and exceeded our expectations.

The garden was perfect both for us humans and perfectly safe for our dogs. The cottage was perfectly placed to visit the beautiful Wolds and its walks, the beach and Lincoln itself. We would recommend the cottage to friends and family.

I took my two dogs and my grandmother and Anvil Lodge was perfect for everyone. A really great place to stay and wonderful hosts!

The cottage was lovely, though the living room was very small but comfortable for 2 people.

Not sure how 4 people would fit into that room comfortably. The description states a rocking chair is in this room, which it is not. The picture shows a single armchair, that is not there. A small 2 seater sofa instead, however this was covered in case of dogs deciding it was good bedding fodder. All other rooms were great. Beds very comfortable. Garden great. Just a little short of certain equipment in the kitchen. 4 very small Skegness mugs, and some very dodgy glasses. We could have done with a couple of nice wine glasses (not 1970’s vintage) and some hi ball glasses. Nothing for juice except a 1 pint glass and 1 pint mug. Garden hose out back for dog cleaning if needed (very handy). Garage doubled up as a games room, nice touch. Generally very good cottage to stay for us 2 and the dogs. Thank you. I would go back for sure!

When we arrived we were astounded with this beautiful Cottage & stunning garden.

Everything spotless, the Owners had gone out of their way to make our stay perfect together with the little gifts upon arrival. Garden was large & fantastic to sit in & chill with the birds singing in the trees. Our little dog loved it also. Only problem there was the sharp gravel from the door to the garden. Had to carry our dog as she could have cut her feet. Mentioned to owner perhaps a small path all the way from door to garden would really help. One of the owners is a lovely lady very kind & helpful. Area, greenery everywhere. When out you will see all the Valleys with so much greenery People there very friendly, oh and the pub meals were very nice a 10 mins.walk from the Cottage. Louth, Horncastle towns lovely shopping & market areas. Plus sea-side towns Sutton-on-Sea (closed shops Mondays), Ingoldmells and Skegness are not too far away. Owner has a book inside the Cottage with lots of info. We would love to spend time there again. No shops in Village just the pub who have necessities milk, bread etc.

Had a very enjoyable holiday at anvil cottage weather was hit and miss but after the year we all had was just nice to get away and enjoy something different surroundings would highly recommend this place would love to come back soon thanks had a lovely time

This was a lovely little cottage in a sweet and peaceful village.

The Wolds are pretty and the coastline is amazing.

Wonderful lodge in a stunning area The lodge was well equipped and the beautiful private garden a real gem , the dogs loved it !

Take a walk across the Ford at the end of the lane and turn right through gate onto the public footpath ... a beautiful walk for miles and miles ! Lots of lovely places to eat in surrounding area , some pubs have restricted opening times, so check and book first . A wonderful week away and we hope to return soon.

The cottage was well equipped, spacious with a lovely garden and courtyard and ideally situated for exploring the nearby countryside.

We had a wonderful lockdown easing break enjoying walking and cycling in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Unfortunately, we had snow, ice, rain and gale force winds.

The lodge was brilliant beautiful equipped, every thought given, both to us and our dogs. They also provided many little extras including milk, teabags, coffee, sugar - bottle of wine and doggie treats. It was my husband's 70th birthday whilst we were away - and it was the nicest self catering we have visited - our thanks to Mr and Mrs Sardesan. Thank you Mr and Mrs Castle

The cottage was so well equipped and comfortable. Would recommend it for anyone wishing to explore with a dog.

The Wolds are one of the best kept secrets in this country.

Many lovely villages & little traffic (outside school hols). Good for eating, food & dog friendly. Very poor mobile phone coverage being another advantage. Beaches very quiet early September. Wish somebody would tell chefs that boiled new potatoes can easily be achieved in the Tatie county. Mash, chips & rice seem to be the norm. Don't tell too many people about this area, they want to keep it quiet!

Everything was good lots of good walks for me and my dog very friendly people pub10 min walk dog friendly and good food be nice if it was open every day but they need time off as well so you have to just get on with it very enjoyable few days break

This is a beautiful well equipped cottage in a quiet village.

We wanted to totally unwind for a week and we found a gem of a place to do so. Sitting in the lovely garden with a cuppa and watching the birds on the feeders melted the tension away. The peace and quiet recharged our batteries. Comfy beds and silence at night meant having best sleep in a long time. The owners left us a few treats and didn’t leave our dog out either. I mentioned to the owner I was unable to have regular milk and they went to the trouble of leaving a litre of ‘my milk’ in the fridge so a much needed cuppa could be had on arrival. The WiFi was very welcomed as there’s no mobile phone reception there. We had to make alternative arrangements to contact family at home. Having said that we would definitely return to Anvil Lodge and recommend it to anyone.

like always you never let us down a superb cottage set in a lovley hamlet village the enclosed back garden was fantastic for our dogs to run around and the lovely wellcome pack was a nice gesture even doggie treats the overall clenlyness of the cottage was 1st class a credit to the owners the fully equipt kitchen had every thing that you needed we had a fantastic time at anvil lodge would we stay again you bet we would

Anvil Lodge was very clean and comfortable and the little extras provided by the owners were very much appreciated.

This is an ideal spot for exploring this part of Lincolnshire and we all had a great break.

This is a lovely cottage, well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

The garden is fantastic, our dogs loved it but we had to block the bottom of the gate as they could squeeze under it. The cottage is well situated for accessing the Lincolnshire wolds and coast. The only drawback for us, which may not be a problem for everyone is that the pub/shop has very restricted opening hours, it is only open at weekends in winter and from Wednesday to Sunday in summer.

such a relaxing holiday, the lodge was spotless with everything we needed in it even the nice touch of coffee tea sugar fresh milk and some goodies,even some treats for Maisie and Buster the dogs. The garden was lovely,again with every we needed. The area just beautiful. Would love to go back again Definitely a five star plus from me

The cottage was better than the pictures and very comfortable .

Anvil Lodge was very clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The garden is well kept and ideal for dogs although our pair of retired greyhounds found the loose stone driveway difficult to walk on. The owners are very friendly and provided welcome gifts which were very much appreciated. The village of Goulceby is a small friendly hamlet with one pub, The 3 Horseshoes, which also serves as the village shop. However, the selection is quite small and there are no daily newspapers. It should be noted that the shop is only open during pub hours. We found the pub staff to be very friendly and helpful.

Anvil Lodge is nice little cottage in the quiet village of Goulceby.

The village is fairly central for visiting key Lincolnshire attractions and has nice local walks. The village pub is very friendly, serves good pub food and put themselves out to accommodate our large dog. There are other pubs within a short drive which offer excellent food. The cottage was immaculately clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The garden was totally secure for our dog and was well kept. The owners are very friendly and as they live in the village are on hand should there be any problems. They are aware of the issue with the boiler and this would not put me off returning.

A nice quiet, little cottage in Goulceby, convenient for the local pub (subject to its restricted opening hours) and easy access to the local area.

the local pub is friendly, has a couple of decent real ales and good food - very dog friendly. The cottage was clean, comfortable and there were plenty of extras (washing up liquid, loo rolls, kitchen paper towels etc.) and a welcome pack. A nice garden which was secure for letting the dogs into. The only downside was the oil boiler in a cupboard in the dining room, the 'odour' from it was noticeable but we just shut the door on that room and left it unused.

This was our first time for visiting Lincolnshire.

It will not be our last. The Wolds exceeded our expectations, beautiful and peaceful. The cottage that we chose through Sykes was super and fully met our expectations. It helped to make our holiday.

Lovely little cottage in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside in a small village filled with birdsong.

Lots of goodies on arrival. Secure parking and very dog friendly welcome. Lovely little pub less than 5 mins walk away with a lovely atmosphere and good food. Lots to see and do all around. Only down side, no phone signal but not the end of the world.

Realistic expectation by the owners,& thoughtful little touches. This is the first cottage that I have experienced that left a welcome pack for the owners & dog biscuits as treats for the dogs. The owners were very helpful, couldn't do more for us, & gave interesting background information about the cottage & also the village. Just a pity that Sykes company policy does not allow partial refund for cancellation due to national adverse weather. (Snow in March prevented us from travelling). We had taken out holiday insurance through the Sykes advisor. This would make us wary of booking through Sykes again.

The cottage was very clean and tidy when we arrived and the goodies were very nice.

You describe the cottage as very cosy with two so called easy chairs a rocking chair and what I would call a bedroom chair it wasn't very comfy for four adults after a days walking. The beds were to low and not very comfortable, two bedside lamps for four was not good for reading a good book. The bath can only be described as an over grown sink, I also arrived clean shaven and left with a full grown beard as there was no shaving point. The owners were nice and helpful when one of our cars wouldn't start when we were leaving. What they did tell me was that they had informed you (Syskes) that there was roads closed in the village, which would of been useful to know when arriving in the dark. Stephen and Janet Cumbria

g. no casserole dish, masher or roasting dish. As we had the dog we are in quite a bit.
