Really great stay here.

It had everything we needed to have a great few days relaxing.

We spent our wedding anniversary at Sycamore Lodge.

From walking into the front door and finding a welcome gift of sparkling wine, eggs and biscuits on day 1 to leaving at the end of our stay we loved every minute of our time. I confess that while the weather was incredibly hot, the hot tub was used every day … ! Thank you to the staff at our arrival and to the gentleman doing the hot tub water check every day …. We felt welcome. I would highly recommend a stay at Sykes Holiday Cottages.

Has absolutely everything you need for a comfortable stay. Welcome gifts on arrival and staff very friendly and helpful. Site very well maintained. Hot tub was superbly clean and sauna a lovely addition. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely weekend break to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday.

Lodge clean and tidy. Garden area, hot tub and sauna great. We did use the swimming pool which you get 30 minutes free included in your stay. Nice area to walk and explore. Village pub the plough we visited on friday lunchtime and had fish and chips. The website could do with a update as it says by one get one free, it isnt.

We stayed from Friday to Sunday and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing compared to previous visits.

On arrival, we were told that if my parents’ dogs, who were staying in the caravan area, came to the lodge area we would receive a £1000 fine. This is not clearly stated on the website. In fact, parts of the website say “dog friendly” while other sections say “no pets,” which is very confusing. The site felt more run down than on previous visits and gave the impression it is aimed more at long‑term residents rather than families. Facilities were also very disappointing: On Friday night the park closed at 8:30pm. On Sunday it was closed by 6pm. The children’s playroom remained locked for most of our stay. It was only opened upon request, and it did not appear to be readily accessible as advertised. The playroom is stated as being open from 9am–9pm. The lodge itself had several issues: The thermostat was not working, making the lodge extremely hot. The sauna in the lodge was unusable due to dirt and cobwebs. Cleanliness overall was poor — we found tissues and chewing gum behind beds, dust on beams, and dirty floors that left marks from footprints. The swimming pool was also freezing on Sunday, to the point that we did not use it. The café was closed for our entire stay, which was not expected. Another issue was that there was no mention when booking that site access is completely shut after 11pm until 7:30am. We had planned to attend a friend’s event one evening but had to cut it short in order to be able to return to the site. We have stayed at this site many times before and previously loved it, but sadly it has gone downhill and no longer feels family‑friendly. Overall, this stay was extremely disappointing and nowhere near the standard we experienced on previous visits.

Very enjoyable few days at Sycamore Lodge and already booked another stay later this year.

Rutland Luxury Lodges maintained the previous high standard we have come to associate with their accommodation. Private, quiet, relaxing and very well cared for. Swimming pool a real bonus. Minor discomfort as no single armchair, which would have been helpful for elderly relative but that we just our personal circumstances.

We have stayed at Rutland Lodges for the last 6 years and usually find the lodges really warm & cosy.

Sycamore Lodge was ok, but it was quite cool when we arrived & the heated floor and the towel rails didn't seem to be working. We queried this with reception on Saturday morning and a member of staff came to the lodge in the afternoon. He informed us that the boiler was old and not working properly and there was nothing he could do. He informed us that there were fan heaters to use if we felt cold, which is not the response we expected. They did offer us fresh towels, which we accepted, because we couldn't dry the ones we used. Also, we would like to mention that the kitchen unit doors were delaminating, which made the kitchen feel a bit scruffy.

We had a lovely short three night stay at Sycamore Lodge.

The welcome pack was a nice touch and the accommodation was clean, tidy and warm. The hot tub and sauna were brilliant to have in the garden, and we made use of the 30 minutes in the indoor swimming pool. All of the staff we met were really friendly and helpful. It was a great find, and was a perfect location for us to explore, including visits to the National Space Centre and Burghley House.

We lived our time there.

But from the beginning telling us the gate will close @ 11 pm and open @ 7 am put us a little bit off. Especially we have a little one. I am not saying you can't access your lodge between this hours if you're late but it's just an uneasy thing, always in back of your mind. Also there are a lot of spiderwebs and dust @ the lodge. My little one lost a toy under one sofa and when we move it to get it we found a vape thing. Little things that made us think there wasn't too much care given when cleaning. Swimming pool you can book for free only for 30 min /lodge for the whole stay. If you want more Swimming pool then you need to pay, and it was also very cold even if it says in the booking that it's a heated Swimming pool. All I say it's you need to go with your mind open and not to expect too much. The welcome little things were a nice touch though.

Loved it from start to finish

Had a fab break at Rutland Lodges.

Our 4th visit to Sycamore Lodge. Was decorated for Christmas and looked lovely and homely. Hot tub is great. Thank you and see you again soon.

Whilst the lodge is beautiful and you can smell the wood when you first get in there and the welcome pack was a nice touch.

My only gripes were it was incredibly hot even with the heating off which would be awful in the summer, it's also deceptive in terms of the photos, the lodges are well placed but much closer together than they look in the photos. Check in time is also a little early could do with being a couple hours later just so people can avoid Friday night rush hour. Lastly no smart TV so no access to Netflix of prime or anything so accept Freeview and dvd player which I feel is a little out of date. Maybe the could add that people bring a firestick if the would like access to the latest movies. These are small things though and I was a lovely lodge.

This would have had a 5* listing because the overall experience was very good.

However, there were a few niggles - the bathroom tap was the opposite to what it should have been, the toilet seat was loose and there were cobwebs. As someone else mentioned the lack of cutlery was tricky when using the dishwasher - odd that 6 plates etc only warranted 4 knives etc. There was a problem with the heating but it was mostly sorted. Having said all that the seclusion of the hot tub and sauna was absolutely fantastic, as was the quietness of the lodges and despite the niggles we are most likely to return.

Really lovely lodge to stay in, well equipped, spacious back garden and friendly and helpful staff.

Lodge was first class. Everything you need . Hot tub, sauna, location, facilities. Comfy lounge, lovely white bedding and super soft large towels. Great stay . Check in staff lovely. Great location. Lovely village. The Plough highly recommend for evening meals and Sunday lunch. recommend booking as small restaurant). We will return

These were beautiful lodges in a lovely setting with some fantastic pubs in walking distance.

We stayed with 2 other families (they were in 2 other lodges) and would definitely book again. Our lodge would have benefitted from a few more utensils in the kitchen and an omelette pan. We were very impressed with the size of the property and it was very well presented. The hot tub was set to over 40 degrees though so was too hot to use initially, we had to permanently leave the lid off to try and cool it down as we were told not to touch the settings on arrival. The maintenance guy/owner who came in the Sunday did adjust the temperature for us though. We will be back!

It's a beautiful lodge with great amenities, including a hut tub, sauna, dishwasher, washer/dryer en and more.

Plenty of towels and bathrobes are provided, so it's very well equipped and comfortable. It would have been helpful to have a bit more cutlery and glassware, so the diswasher wouldn't need to run as often. One downside is that the swimming pool is available in 30 minutes slots and requires an additional fee after the first free session. The gardens are well maintained and add to the overall pleasant atmosphere.

Attention to detail was lacking Food under the couch cushions Tv lead was loose unable to watch until I found the problem Flies were a big problem (Noted on previous reviews) Sauna door won’t close properly, the approach to the sauna had a bunch of stinging nettles My main safety issue was the guard rail around the sauna heater it was broken and hanging off the wall.

The lodge was comfortable and well stocked with appliances, bedding and towels clean, as I said spoilt by attention to detail. If you wish to leave before 0730 you can’t because the gate doesn’t open till 0740. A secure site no noise plenty of short walks.

The lodge attracted to many flies get up in the morning and have 5-6 flies inside although all windows where vlosed

Lovely to be able to use the pool. Lodge was really well equipped and comfortable. Great to walk into the village but also so useful to have the shop and cafe.

We had a splendid stay.

The lodge was great. The staff on site were helpful and efficient. The swimming pool was a real and unexpected bonus. I’ve not swum for 17 years at least!! We enjoyed the hot tub watching the moon in the night sky. We’d not considered it before our arrival, but it being a gated site was very reassuring. One criticism, prior to our arrive I had a computer glitch and lost all the codes etc. recovering them was very challenging. It took a day which was very anxiety making. The helpline was not useful. This aside our holiday was hugely enjoyable. We intend booking for a break in September David Milner

Our 3rd stay in Sycamore Log Cabin and 5th stay at Rutland Camping and Caravan.

Staff are absolutely lovely, polite and very welcoming. As before it was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a 7 day stay. A few of the kitchen cupboard doors could do with a little attention as the laminate covering is peeling away. Hot tub checked evey day without fail. Looking forward to returning.

Clean, Comfortable and warm with everything you need for a great stay.

Area is quiet and a private fenced off garden area makes all the difference. A lovely welcome gift, the eggs were delicious as was the prosecco. Thank you to the staff for making a great stay.

Our 4th stay at Rutland Camping and Caravan and our 2nd stay in Sycamore log cabin.

As expected we had a lovely warm welcome and got in the log cabin on time. Generally the log cabin was clean, except for the windows, and it had everything we needed for a lovely 7 day holiday. Hot tub was checked every day and the sauna was lovely too. Having your own private garden is fabulous too. We have stayed in Maple and Beach before and they are both lovely too. Thank you for having us and we will be booking to return soon.

We stayed in Sycamore Lodge at Greetham.

This was well appointed but the one thing all four of us found uncomfortable were the beds, none of us had a good nights sleep.

This is a beautiful place to stay and the food at the cafe is fantastic You feel like you have escaped from the world into a luxury retreat

The property was excellent.

It was very clean and the welcome pack was unexpected and excellent. The listing stated there was a shop within a mile but this was closed and had beef for some while. The facilities in the property ( hot tub and sauna) were excellent. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners, who were very helpful. The two local pubs were very good. The Wheatsheef was an excellent meal and very friendly.

We’ve spent a lovely week at the lodge.

Everything was great! Nice sauna and whirlpool , spent hours on the lounge chairs in the sun. Kitchen was perfect with all the things you need. The only thing that was not nice is that I was allergic to something ( dust) in the living room. I don’t know if it was the carpet, or the curtains. Or maybe the dust that was on the wooden beams near the window. Had to use nasal spray and eye drops all week. Unfortunately we found out to late there was a vacuum cleaner in the house, that would have helped. Otherwise a perfect week, will recommend it to our friends.

Exceeded expectations on everything.

Lovely staff, lovely welcome, excellent on site cafe (which we used a lot!) The welcome pack and provision of robes was really above and beyond. Just perfect!

Our 3rd time at Rutland Camping and Caravan.

We stayed in Sycamore log cabin this time. Upon our arrival we were greeted by very friendly and welcoming staff who quickly showed us to our log cabin. It was warm and ready for us with a lovely welcome pack. Settees were very comfy as was the bed. Hot tub was up to temperature and very clean and we made use of the outdoor sauna too. This log cabin would benefit from a deep clean due to dust build up on the logs (higher up the walls and behind furniture) also the windows were filthy, however, this would not stop us returning and have booked to come back in September for a week. Onsite food is delicious and pool is a lovely touch. Overall a lovely relaxing stay with amazing staff. Thank you for having us.

It’s the second time we arrive at this place, so if the weather is good you will enjoy spending time here. Sauna is good only if it’s not windy, our kids soaked in a hot tub every morning and during a day

Sycamore lodge was absolutely beautiful.

We went in February, I was worried we might be cold but the lodge is lovely, warm & cozy. It was just perfect. A couple of lightbulbs went & they were replaced quickly. Would be nice to get longer in the swimming pool without having additional cost but the hot tub & the sauna in the private garden was amazing. Loved it. We will definitely return. The welcome gift was brilliant too!

We came to stay here for my birthday and my daughter’s birthday.

We thought the lodge was fantastic, so spacious and fresh. The beds were very comfortable, everywhere was very clean and tidy and the added extras of board games and dvds was lovely. We had such a wonderful time and can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely stunning second stay in the luxury lodges, few hiccups with the sauna but the management did what they could to get it up working again.

These lodges really are luxury, we had a gorgeous 4 day stay and cannot wait to visit again, we brought the children along on this stay and they also loved every second. Clean, relaxing and such a magical start to Christmas.

Absolutely lovely place to stay, lovely welcome gift was perfect, great take away restaurant on site, staff all really friendly abd helpful.

Only issue was that a sauna was advertised but when we tried to use it it didn't work so facilities not as advertised.

This was the first experience of staying in a lodge with my family, I have 2 little ones a 5yr old and a 6yr old.

They absolutely loved the place, we live in London, so the getaway was perfect to a quite destination. The Jacuzzi and the Sauna were great to have. The staff were very helpful. I would absolutely recommend.

Have stayed at Sycamore lodge a couple of times, we loved going for a swim and then back to the lodge’s hot tub to warm up.

Also enjoyed the playground & wheatsheaf pub at Greetham, plus Belton House & Twin Lakes. Snakes &ladders and paw patrol dvd in the lodge also kept my 6 year old happy.

Second time we have spent two weeks at the cabins within the year and we will be back, it really is the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in, peaceful, relaxing and wonderful staff thank you for another memorable two weeks

Lovely reasonably priced accommodation, lovely welcome package.

Great facilities - lovely well priced cafe on site, staff extremely helpful and friendly. One downside was that on arrival all of the thermostats for the underfloor heating were set to 28 degrees meaning the first 24 hours the accommodation was unbearably hot despite opening all of the windows. Other than that lovely accommodation for a great price.

Very friendly staff. Cant fault anything, warm lodge, fantastic hot tub ( even in -1 and 4 inches of snow ) Would very highly recommend and we have rebooked for another week in the same lodge for September.

Had an amazing stay at Sycamore Lodge.

The lodge was spotless, had everything you could possibly need and a lovely private garden with the hot tub and sauna. There was a lovely welcome pack which was much appreciated. All staff that we came into contact with were very welcoming and friendly and the swimming pool was a treat to have to ourselves. We will definitely return.

Was a surprise for my partner.

Loved the cabin and the relaxing atmosphere shame about the smoke in the air from the farm. As she has asthma but we didn’t let it spoil our break. Lovely walks staff very helpful. Rutland kitchen worth a try great food

Wonderful lodge!

Hot tub and sauna excellent! Clean comfortable, with everything you could ever need! Friendly helpful staff on site. Cafe on site with good homemade food. Can be phoned and collected or eat in! Lovely sunday roast, and very good value breakfast. Welcome pack in lodge. Very peaceful, quiet and totally private garden! We have never done this before and we go away quite a bit! But have rebooked this lodge for again later in the year!

It would be nice to have the option for late check out

Have just returned from a fabulous weekend in Sycamore Lodge.

Everything exceeded our expectations, facilities and the standard of the lodge are excellent. Staff are helpful and friendly. Our only gripe was that there was quite a bit of dust around on the floor and walls (couple of cobwebs) when we arrived. However this would be easily rectified in the future and did not spoil our stay or stop us booking again for October.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Sycamore Lodge and hope to return in the future.

Every detail was catered for and the underfloor heating was a dream in the recent icy weather!

The staff are friendly and efficient. The lodge was warm and well equipped and was decorated for Christmas, which was a lovely welcome. There is a handy walkway into the village and the site is well located to visit the surrounding area. We will definitely return in future

We loved our stay so much we didn’t want to go home.

The lounge was so beautiful, cosy and clean. The hot tub was so relaxing, easy to work and the robes was a lovely touch. Will definitely return.

The whole family were so happy with the lodge itself and with the friendliness and efficient service from the staff.

Everything you could wish for was provided for in the lodge. Comfy bedding, soft towels, robes, kitchen utensils etc. The welcome pack was delightful too! The hot tub was a particular favourite of ours. It was checked and maintained daily by on site staff. The lodge itself is spacious - we loved it. The only thing that would’ve literally brightened the stay, would be more lighting in the dining room and bedrooms, but not problematic. There was a burst water main locally that meant there was no cold water in the kitchen for the duration of our stay. Therefore, we had to buy bottled water and couldn’t use the dishwasher out washing machine - but this honestly didn’t blight our as every thing else was great! Thank you.

Everything was perfect, it didn't feel like we was in the uk ,the lodge was beautiful in side ,we both got loads of rest ,would definitely go back again for a longer stay

The property itself and the facilities at the camp site are great - we've been camping here before and returned because of that.

However you cannot separate the facilities and the members of staff from the overall holiday experience - and the staff are rude and show poor customer service. I booked a swimming slot for every day of our stay. We arrived 5 minutes late to our first slot (we have 2 young children!) and there were already people in the pool who claimed they had booked it and that they have had this issue before. We left and went to the reception to ask what to do. By the time the other people left the pool there were only 10 minutes left in our swimming slot. The staff agreed there was no point in us getting in now but that they would give us a slot of a different day to make up for it (this slot was our complementary slot for being in a lodge). The staff were very rude even in this first instance, claiming that the other swimmers "were only customers, they don't know what they are talking about". I think that shows the perspective the staff at this campsite holds on their customers. I then went to reception on another occasion to try and schedule our replacement slot but was told they couldn't reserve a slot a day in advance - it had to be on the day. However, we had slots for every day and so we were looking to book make it a double as it would not work with young children to swim on 2 separate occasions in 1 day. There was a slot before our session for the following days but they we're adamant they could not book them. I then returned the following day and there was no longer availability to book a slot before or after one of our slots. This remained the case until our final day when we could therefore no longer be given our session back. We therefore lost 1 session of our bookings. The staff then began to argue that we lost our slot which "was free anyway" because we were late. I tried to explain that we were only 5 minutes late and that we still would have had 25 minutes swimming time which would have been fine for our children. Whether we were 5 minutes late or not is irrelevant to the fact that there was a booking error which meant that there were other swimmers in our slot. We had 1 complementary slot and 3 paid slots - 4 in all. We were unable to swim due to the error of booking (which wasn't our fault) and then was unable to swim at another time as we were promised. It seems clear to me that the staff should have simply apologised for the inconvenience (we booked this specific site because of the opportunity to swim every day a lost out on that) and refunded the cost of 1 of our slots. However they refused to do so, claimed that it was a free slot anyway and were exceptionally rude to me. My husband then went in to try and resolve the issue as we were told to return once they had spoken to the manager. He was shocked and disgusted with how rude the male staff member was; constantly interrupting him and falsely accusing me of slamming doors. The issue remained unresolved and he was told that they would get the manager to ring us. We haven't heard anything from the campsite since. We were so disappointed with this experience. We had used some inheritance money from an elderly relative to treat our children to a holiday after 2 very long and difficult years in a pandemic. We absolutely did not expect that we would have to deal with rude, unhelpful and confrontational staff members on pretty much every day of our holiday. I have since raised a complaint with Sykes and have been refunded the £16 swimming slot. We've been told that the owners of the lodge are "aware" of what happened. Whilst we are appreciate that the £16 was refunded, we don't feel this addresses the unacceptable behaviour of the staff and the negative impact this had on our holiday. We like the facilities and location of this campsite and intended on returning several times a year with family, but I can no longer see that happening given the staff. I have also noted several similar reviews on the internet regarding the staff being rude, unhelpful and intentionally awkward. Overall a very disappointed customer.

The lodge is beautiful and cosy.

the bed was so comfy and the site is so quiet.Everything you need is there,the welcome pack was such a lovely touch. It's close to lots of local attractions and lovely villages. We did have issues with the hot tub,it kept losing alot of water but it wasn't checked regularly and topped up so there was a few days we couldn't use it.when we complained no one knew when the man came to check them,sometimes it wasn't til late at night,no good if you want to go in it in the day.also the sauna light didn't work which was noted the day we arrived but nothing was done about it. That being said,we'd definitely return as its such a relaxing break.

Absolutely lovely place to stay, all amenities as described and private.

The small added touches on arrival where greatly appreciated. Well stocked cabin and very comfortable. Definitely recommend and we will be return, hopefully by the end of the year!

A lovely cosy cabin.

The sauna was great to go in after a dip in the hot tub. Lovely open plan kitchen/diner/ lounge. Plenty of room and a quiet site which is very secure. I really relaxed here. Fabulous for self catering. Oakham is close by and a walk around Hambleton Peninsula. Beautiful little county. I will return.

They made the lodges so festive and had a fantastic welcome pack. Hot tub was a definite winner to complete a brilliant stay.

Only issue we had was 2 outside lights not working and one in the hall was flickering constantly. We reported but wasn’t fixed during our stay . Other than that we will book again

Lovely stay once again.

This is our second visit and it was as good as the first time. Lodges are fabulous, very well equipped and lovely and warm, essential during this cold snap. Location is great too, ten minute walk to 2 nice pubs. The area is beautiful and the little welcome pack is a lovely touch too.

Power cut the 1st night every 30mins into the early hours, freeview keep cutting out, everyone there was very helpful, loved the lodge just a shame about the above!

Very well equipped, comfortable chalet.

A bit off the beaten track. We would have liked better lighting in the sitting area so that we could read in the evenings.

The cabin was very comfortable and well appointed except for a few small things: 1.

The lighting in the living areas (lounge and dining room) was very dim, and could be improved by brighter bulbs and/or some side lights/standard lamps. 2. The bedside lights were also poor for reading. 3. Provision of a summer weight duvet, although we got over the problem by putting the blanket provided into the duvet cover which worked very well. Otherwise we were very comfortable and had an enjoyable time exploring the area. We must compliment the builders on the site completing the additional cabins adjacent to ours. They were very considerate and polite and noise was kept to the minimum. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience.

The lodge was extremely clean and fresh all equipment we used worked correctly it was very quiet lovely peaceful setting

My first thoughts when I walked through the doors were wow!

I then walked round the lodge and I just kept saying its amazing! We loved our stay there, it definitely is a 5 star lodge. Immaculately clean, with some lovely welcome gifts, and a very welcome bottle of prosecco. Everything you could think of is there. The hot tub and sauna are brilliant! There is a small tea room on site, for takeaway or eat outside only, due to the current climate. There is a pool on site, we didn't use it but it looked lovely and clean, and we'll looked after. Would we stay again, yes we would.

The luxury lodges great but for two days no heating and hot water otherwise which was sorted in the end and will go back next year

Everything was perfect, we had a lovely time from start to finish.

The staff were very helpful and it was nice to have free private access to the pool each day.

A really nice and comfortable lodge.

The only problem was the Internet which was none existent a vast majority of the time and when it did work it was slow. Not having the internet isn’t a problem but if it says that WiFi is available then it should work. I didn’t make a complaint because experience tells me it’s pointless. The lodge was in a great location and very handy for traveling around, the hot tub and sauna were great and we would definitely stay here again.

As returning customers we knew what to expect and the high quality of these lodges. Our stay was let down by a couple of factors this year - the WiFi was non-existent in the lodge and the codes never worked during the whole 4-days - reception said they were looking into it as there were issues but these never got resolved or reported back to us. With no phone reception either in the lodges we were out of touch. On our second evening we had two power cuts (along with one other lodge) - we reported this and no contact back other than it was being looked into. So that was dinner ruined and a takeaway requires for the family. The rest of the evening was spent playing cards by phone torch rather than enjoying the hot tub. Again no apology or even contact about this for the rest of our stay - very disappointing.

Fantastic lodge the owners went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect for their guests.

Being able to book the pool for private hire was great. The lodge was clean with all little extras included. Hot tub was checked daily to keep everyone safe making sure the chemical balance etc was correct. Would definitely return great place.

The hot tub and sauna were great. Definately be back next year!

The lodge was immaculate, comfortable and every need catered for.

Hot tub was lovely and the enclosed garden was private and ideal for a 2 year old trotting around and not bejng able to escape!! The swimming pool on site was so clean and warm, what a great idea that it can be booked privately for half hour sessions! We were very impressed and would highly recommend this place. Thank you

Log cabin was bigger than we imagined it would be and the hot tub was lovely, even in the rain!

!! Only thing I would say is that by the end of the weekend the hot tub 'bubbles' weren't as powerful as they were when we first used it, think it may have got an air lock or something but didn't detract from a wonderful weekend! Faultless!

Fabulous place, the staff were extremely helpful, lodge was exactly as described.

We will deffo be returning next year!

Cabin and fixtures and fittings were excellent but the mattresses on the beds were cheap and damaged ,they were the worst beds we have ever slept in .

...or tried too.....hence we left a day early.

The surrounding area and villages are beautiful.

I found everybody so friendly and helpful. The lodges are first class with everything you could think of. The welcome pack was excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody.
