Hen's Hideaway

We had a lovely stay at hens hideaway.

We loved the hot tub after a long day of exploring the area, and star gazing at night on the balcony. The place itself was lovely and clean, and cosy for our 4 nights. We have 3 bits of feedback on what would have made the stay even better, the fridge is tiny and barely fit drinks and food in it, and the freezer wasn’t cold enough to be a freezer so it just leaks and doesn’t keep the freezer food cold. We had to constantly try to jenga our stuff in the fridge - I would highly recommend upgrading this for future guests. The 2nd feedback are the flies, I know there’s not much to do about flies but a fly sticky catcher or something similar would have helped as it got so uncomfortable at points to make food or eat as they were everywhere. And finally, the 3rd would be to add oil, salt and pepper to the place as we had to go out and buy some to use whilst there, this would have just made a big difference for cooking if you didn’t bring your own stuff down. Otherwise, this is a lovely little place to relax and enjoy some much needed quiet, to enjoy watching the red kites fly over and the sheep in the field next to us. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Hens hideaway is the perfect little retreat to get away from it all.

It is ideally located in beautiful surroundings but close enough to town for all amenities. The Lodge is beautifully furnished and has everything that you could possibly need, and the hot tub is the perfect spot to relax and take in the views. We will definitely be booking again. Lovely to arrive to fresh eggs which tasted lovely, water was hot for shower and all furnishings really cosy.

My dog and I had a lovely peaceful week here.

It was the perfect location for him to recover from an unexpected operation. It was very clean and surprisingly spacious! Just a couple of notes for people booking - I would 100% recommend, the only inclosed part for doggies is the decking, bring kitchen spray or antibac wipes and rubber gloves for the dishes. Thank you for a restful stay ☺️

We absolutely LOVED our stay.

It was spotlessly clean, cozy and adorable. The small touches; eggs, short breads and robes made us feel very welcome. It was great to have leaflets for ideas of where to visit to. I have already recommended to several friends. Thank you!

What a beautiful, clean, modern holiday pod.

So peaceful and beautiful views. Hot tub fantastic and was so much easier for me with arthritis to get in and out. Arriving first day to fresh eggs left for us with welsh shortbread and milk in fridge for a cuppa. Very accommodating and would love to come in summer. One small thing ...... A small microwave would be great instead of using the oven all the time to heat up.

This is the second time we have stayed here as we loved it so much the first time!

The views are beautiful from the lodges and the hot tubs are always well maintained and perfect temperature. We have a small dog who also feels very at home here. We love the walks at Elan Valley and visited Hafren Forest this time too. Thanks Aled and Lucy for another lovely stay :)

Absolutely lovely stay.

Great views and accommodation really clean and had absolutely everything you would want. Top tips owners leave beautiful fresh eggs,milk, tea and coffee (plus what my wife described as great shortbread - I didn't have a look in!) 1.8 miles walk into town down country lane- a few cars but not many at all. Definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful stay , the place was clean and tidy, the lodge was perfectly planned out for comfort and luxury.

Great Pods, fresh and clean inside and out with fantastic views.

Hot tub excellent and maintained 3 times in our 5 night stay, so always clean. We came for a rest and relax and we got that in abundance, we visited the local town for river walks with our nervous German shepherd which he loved as did we and even went to see the Kite feeding at the local feeding station which is a spectacle to behold. We also had our own Kite entertainment while sat in the hot tub looking out over the valley. Truly calming and truly relaxing even the dog was chilled out for the most. Wi-Fi connection fantastic so you can stay in touch or even do a bit of work if you must. All in all we would recommend this site to anyone looking for a pristine setup with a relaxing atmosphere, fantastic views and a wonderful hot tub.

We stayed here for 7 nights in September and had a wonderfully quiet and relaxing time.

The cabin was ideal and we felt it included everything we needed for the week, and to my wife's delight the towels that were provided smelt great and were obviously home-laundered. We divided our time between local walks, the pubs and cafes of Rhayader, Elan Valley, sitting in the huge hot tub and sitting in the sun on the terrace watching the birds. We will probably go back next year as there is still a lot to see in the area. The owner Aled was a nice fella and would stop for a chat when servicing the hot tub. The walk into the centre of Rhayader takes about 40 minutes although we found parking was plentiful if you prefer to drive. There are a couple of small general stores, a few pubs and cafes, grocers, takeaways and a very nice butchers with great steak and lamb chops. Diolch Aled, and see you next year.

We had a fantastic stay at Hens hideaway…lovely view and location, cosy and comfortable with nice little extras from the host like local eggs and sweet treats.

The bed was super comfy and hot tub was spacious and well kept. The cottage is to a high spec and lovely and clean. The only issue we had was the garden was listed as ‘enclosed’ which is a little misleading as it it only literally the wooden patio area which is enclosed - which meant we couldn’t let the dog out unattended to toilet. Other than that there is nothing else we would improve :)

Our stay was lovely, the lodge has everything you need and felt really homely.

Absolutely stunning lodge!

Thank you for accommodating us! Only negative but more so about maintenance! The door to lodge was very stiff and hard to open! Also, hot tub we couldn’t seem to get all jets working!?! Not sure if it was us or hot tub!?! Such a tranquil place to relax!

We truly loved our stay at the Hen's Hideaway, our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

The views are absolutely beautiful and the hot tub is the most perfect way to spend each evening - even if it's raining! This definitely won't be our last visit and we're already planning our next one. The lovely free range eggs and Welsh cakes were a welcome touch and the hosts were incredibly friendly - we couldn't have asked for more!

If I had one comment to make I would say that the gardens are not fully enclosed. Would definitely book again.

Beautiful location, quiet and peaceful but only a short drive from a little village with all the amenities you could need.

Cabin itself is very well finished and the hot tub was our favourite part. We saw red kites every day as they nest in the trees at the bottom of the field, often swooping overhead quite low giving us a really good view. Would return tomorrow!

Hens Hideaway is a fabulously compact gem.

It has everything you need and the addition of the hot tub on the edge of the decking is wonderful. Sitting on the decking or in the hot tub watching the red kites across the meadow was beautiful and so so peaceful. The hosts are lovely and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

5 star accommodation, we had a lovely stay at Hen's hideaway, the attention to detail inside was spot on,comfy bed,great shower and amazing view from the large hot tub,where we watched red kites and swallows.

Owners are lovely too as were the extras left for us on our arrival. Will definitely come back again.
