Bicton Lodge

My partner and I absolutely loved Bicton Lodge.

We were contacted by the host Thomasina before hand. She gave us a warm and friendly welcome on arrival to show us round the accommodation. The surroundings and location were perfect, with wonderful views over the countryside. It was very quiet located around a mile and a half from the village. Only an occasional tractor or two passing by. The accommodation was excellent with an open plan downstairs. A little home from home. Upstairs is in the eaves so this took a day or two to get used to. Especially after a glass of wine or two.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the lodge is cosy, clean with really comfortable beds plus a lovely welcome pack to greet us!

The best thing for us was the location, the views from the lodge were lovely. Also, hearing and seeing all the various birds and the bleating of the sheep in the adjacent field was delightful. The hot tub is great and very relaxing. The position of the lodge is great in getting around, a 30 minute walk into Clun via the Castle was a good walk and we had lunch at the Maltings which was really nice. We also had a wonderful Afternoon Tea at the Castle, visited Stokesay Castle, Kerry Vale Vineyard and well as other villages like. Montgomery, all within a 30 minute drive. We also loved the daily visits from the owners cat Couscous!

We had a wonderful time at Bicton Lodge - it had everything we needed.

It was comfy, cosy and clean, very peaceful, with lots of great attractions in the area. Great to be able to charge the electric car. A pleasant walk to the local village, partly along the Shropshire Way. Our host was helpful and responsive and we will definitely be visiting again!

We had the most relaxing holiday staying at Bicton Lodge.

It had everything we needed, it was clean, and comfortable. Thomasina leaves fantastic information on everything you're using, places to go and places to eat. The hot tub was clean and private. The views are gorgeous. It's so quiet and the lodge is situated in the most tranquil and peaceful place. It's one of the most relaxing places I've been to. Ludlow is lovely to visit, especially the farm shop amd distillery! We loved Montgomery too, please visit Bunners. It's the most wonderful shop. We will hopefully be back.

We were meet at the property by the owner who was very welcoming and friendly.

The property was very well equipped, cozy and comfortable with lovely views. The hot tub was well maintained and was lovely to relax in after a long day. It was a very quiet location well suited for walking the Shropshire Way & the surrounding countryside. We found the property was well situated for exploring Shropshire and Mid Wales. We would highly recommend.

Stayed for a lovely week, views and location is absolutely beautiful and a stunning house to spend the week in, would 100% percent recommend, perfect little getaway.

An absolutely beautiful place to stay in wonderful countryside.

From initial contact with Thomasina to saying goodbye we fell in love with Bicton Lodge. A real fire, cosy accomodation and a luxurious hot tub in our own little private world. Fabulous!

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Bicton Lodge for a week recently and we absolutely loved our stay!

The perfect place where we found peace, quiet and relaxation in both the lodge and exploring the surrounding area. The place itself was quite easy to find and when we arrived we were greeted by Thomasina (along with Stanley the dog, and couscous the cat) and we were immediately put at ease. After a brief tour of the lodge and how things operated (including the hot-tub) and shown things to do in and around the local area, we settled in for a week of great walks, relaxing in the hot tub and thoroughly enjoying our stay in the lodge. A few things we thoroughly enjoyed during our stay; Bicton Lodge was clean, the inside space was used excellently (much bigger than it may look on the outside), with the kitchen being well equipped and perfect for our needs with pots, pans, chopping board, knives, plates, and scales being very much appreciated. The fireplace was used constantly and really did warm the place up delightfully, most helpful when coming in from the hot tub! The bathroom is a bit small but we didn’t find it too much of a problem, the bath/shower worked perfectly. Great outdoor lighting which very much helps when staying outside at night and soaking in the views which were fantastic and our neighbours turned out to be some cows (bovines) who were very well mannered and just a bit curious! The surrounding area is so quiet; it’s a brilliant spot for bird watchers and there are plenty of buzzards, kites, owls, jackdaws and bats to be seen and heard! Other than the expected tractors coming past it was so serene and peaceful, great for walks too, the ~30 minute walk to Clun is a great trek through forest and farmland that we did multiple times. Thomasina was a fantastic host, she was not too overbearing or too distant and we felt she showed us the perfect amount of attention; always willing to help with a smile on her face. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to BL and enjoy ourselves once more.

We recently spent the bank holiday at this lovely lodge, everything was as advertised.

The welcome pack was a nice added touch as well. The lodge is set in a lovely peaceful area with an amazing view from the lounge and garden where the hot tub is situated. We had the perfect weather which just enhanced our stay. Thomasina is a great host. We’re already looking to book again! It was the perfect romantic weekend for us, just what we’d hoped it would be.

Cottage is well equipped and suited us all well, plus enough room for 2 cars off road parking as well. Will definitely be recommending to family and friends. Hopefully be back one day.

property is beautiful everythink needed also beautiful views , if you go here you do need fly protection as theirs alot of moths dragon flys wasps , shops are really far away also so car is needed , would recommend getting shopping on the way so can cosey up the night , also their is a cat what turns up , i would recommend shooing it as will come in be on worktops food the lot , owner is lovely and very commutative , do recommend she waits until you vacate property before getting hottub ready for next guests , overall beautiful place everythink needed

This is a lovely holiday home in a beautiful location, with lots of fabulous walking available from the doorstep on to the Shropshire Way and Offa's Dyke path.

It's also ideally located for visiting Clun, Bishops Castle, Ludlow and the stunning Stiperstones. The property was spotlessly clean, had everything we needed and was roomy and comfortable, with the added benefit of the hot tub to ease tired muscles after long, hilly walks! Thomasina was very welcoming and the basket of beer, lemonade, Welsh cakes etc. was a thoughtful touch, as was the milk and butter in the fridge. Overall, highly recommended.

Recently back from the gorgeous Bicton Lodge and what a fabulous weeks stay we had.

The lodge was a perfect get away in beautiful Shropshire with fantastic views and surroundings. The lodge was spacious, well equipped with all that we needed and the log burner made it even cosier, boy it can throw out some heat! At the end of the day, to wind down with a glass of wine in the hot tub was a must and perfect for a bit of stargazing. We even had regular visits from the owners cat, he made himself quite at home and we loved it. :-) Thomasina was lovely and on hand if needed but other than that she left us to it. We can't recommend Bicton Lodge highly enough and we'd love to go back, which we're hoping to later in the year.

Was warm&cosy especially when the log burner was going.i had snow when I was there so everywhere looked beautiful. Even went in the hot which was just so relaxing . Really enjoyed my stay will return again& recommend to friends &family .

A beautifully, comfortable cottage set in peaceful surroundings.

We booked the cottage to sit back and relax for a few days, we were able to do this and didn't want to leave. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Our host, Thomasina, was very friendly and helpful. The welcome basket was very much appreciated.

The perfect base for a holiday in the quiet of Shropshire - "Clunton and Clunbury, Clungunford and Clun are the quietest places under the sun".

A real find. It was just what we needed to relax and unwind. The facilities were clean and all there. The owner popped to welcome us and carry out the fire regulations talk and even gave us some tips of where to eat. Really wonderful property and owner. A truly wonderful cottage in a gorgeous location.

Private, very comfortable and excellent facilities. A lovely welcome pack, and the hot-tub was maintained daily - early morning whilst we slept. We were very well looked after. The location is gorgeous, with stunning views of the fields and hills, and on a clear night the night sky is full of starts...no up-lighting to spoil the experience. We were a party of 4 adults, looking to have a relaxing unwind. It was perfect in every way. I'd highly recommend this cottage for a stay.

A lovely timber building with a bright, clean and modern interior, set in a beautiful rural location. Thomasina is an attentive host, but is never intrusive. Bicton Lodge is the perfect place to shed the burdens of city life. We loved it!

..the welcome basket of local produce like the pale ale, lemonade, Welsh cakes and fresh cut flowers from the garden was a fabulous welcomer. We had cows and sheep for neighbours all week and a fabulous hot tub we certainly put to good use as my bad back welcomed it . The cottage had most things you need for a great break and any recommendations were welcomed.Would definitely recommend the place. The only problem I had personally was I missed my very comfy bed so I'll bring bed toppers next time.

Top notch place with the best owner you could wish for

Our stay at Bicton Lodge was warmly welcomed by Thomasina.

The lodge itself is perfect. It has beautiful scenery all around, about 1 mile outside of Clun so not to far from the local pubs for food and drinks. We visited Bicton Lodge for our honeymoon and Thomasina went the extra mile to make our stay perfect. The Lodge is very cosy, warm and beds were really comfortable. Thomasina even set up the super king for us. The hot tub is a fantastic added extra as you can just jump in whenever you feel like it and enjoy the scenery during the day and look up at the stars at night. Overall we would rate our stay as a 10 out of 10. We don't usually go back to places on a second visit we prefer to travel around and try new places but Bicton Lodge will definitely be somewhere we come back to again. We have also recommended it to many friends and family. The only bad thing about Bicton Lodge is that we only booked it up for 3 nights, we wish we would have had a full week. Thank you Thomasina for making our honeymoon perfect. Even leaving us a card and the little hand written note on the door made it feel extra special. Thank you

Another fantastic stay at BICTON LODGE!

This was our second visit for the new year and it didn't dissapoint. Once again beautiful home with stunning views across the country. Beds are so comfy we lay in most days, because we could haha. Exceptional host Tomasina who adds the most special touches. We arrived to a beautiful welcome pack which included a bottle of fizz and some lovely Christmas presents under the tree x The weather wasn't that great this year but that didn't stop us using the hot tub and enjoying lots of just dance on the wee

The hot tub was a hit with my girls and they enjoyed waking up each morning to see how close the cows were. We made some memories here as a family that we won't forget.

The hot tub was great bonus after a long walk and having the cows look over at you was interesting - they are so curious! We could image being cosy in the colder weather with the fire going.

Recently stayed at Bicton Lodge and it was everything we expected: clean, spacious,relaxing and very quiet.

The area is unique, full of wildlife, beautiful vistas and not many people! If you enjoy walking, cycling or just visiting historic towns or hamlets, this area and the comfort of Bicton Lodge will not let you down.

We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage.

Everything was clean and tidy (even the kitchen knives were sharp!) and to hand. The views are lovely, local tradespeople (Mr T's pies - you must have one - and Long Mynd Cider are ones we used) are really helpful and friendly. The owner is on hand if needed and is also friendly and helpful. The walks from the cottage and further afield are lovely. It was great to get in the hot tub after a long day's strenuous walking to ease aching muscles, especially with the great views from it.

We had a lovely stay at Bicton lodge and would definitely recommend to friends to stay there.

The lodge is quite a lot smaller than it appears in the pictures, but perfectly ample for a family of 4. The lodge was wonderfully furnished and very clean and had everything we could need for a weeks stay. We all enjoyed the hot tub and the daily visits from Couscous the cat. Although the property is next door to the owners they had made a really successful effort to make the lodge very private and although we knew the owners were there should we need them we were left to our own devices. The views from all windows from the lodge are absolutely amazing and to wake up to the sound of sheep, lambs and birdsong was a real treat. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding and towels were of a great quality. As a family of 4 we found the under-counter fridge with a small freezer compartment a struggle to accommodate food and drink for the week. Upstairs, the lack of storage space for clothes (mainly a wardrobe) was also an issue for 4 of us but we managed! A lovely, relaxing base in a beautiful countryside setting.

The accomodation was clean and comfortable with all you need for a relaxed stay. One week was not enough to soak up all that was on offer in the area.

Just returned from a lovely week at Bicton lodge.

We were a family of four with two teenagers. Lovely welcome on arrival from Thomasina and nice welcome basket. The hot tub was definitely a real plus particularly as we had a rather wet and windy week but there was always a gap for a lovely dip. The lodge was very clean and warm, something I always hope for in February and we also made use of the wood burner more for affect than need. Visits from the very friendly farm cat just added to this relaxing holiday. Thank you very much we will definitely return.

It’s quite far from main towns so be prepared to drive to the local shops/pubs. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

The lodge is airy, spacious, warm and quiet. Lots of scenic walking locally and nice walk into Clun from the lodge. It was a joy to see red kites and buzzards . We heard the owl while in the hot tub but unfortunately didn’t see it. The owner , Thomasina, was extremely helpful . We will definitely be back.

Great cottage, immaculately presented.

Lovely rural retreat with everything you need for a comfortable break.

The kitchen is very well equipped and everything is bagged afyer cleaning so you know anything used gets an extra clean on change over (even the remotes). The bedrooms and living area are comfortable and bedding was spotless, lovely fluffy towels are also provided. The lodge is perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4 with smart storage spaces, large beds and plenty of space to get ready. The owner was very friendly, helpful and on hand in you need her (but leaves you to it if you don't). The hot tub was the reason we booked and it didn't disappoint, lovely views and the perfect place to relax. Perfect spot for walks but not too far from local amenities including a well stocked spar 5 minutes drive away (or a nice 40 min walk along the river) there are also cafes and pubs in the village. Bigger supermarkets are around a 30 minute drive (all details are provided by the owner). The Wii and games were a lovely addition and kept us entertained on an evening. For families there is a great park in Bishops Castle only 5-10 minutes drive away. We had a fantastic holiday and would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable and relaxing break.

Fly blinds could be helpful for the summer months as you will have the doors open most of the time.

It was perfect for our needs and the hot tub surrounded by fields was a great bonus! The host was fantastic and accommodated all our needs we could not thank her enough! Perfect for a small group of friends or for a romantic break away.

Only rated it "met expectations" because after holidaying in your properties for several years our expectations are very high anyway.

Bicton Lodge was certainly up to your usual standards in terms of cleanliness and comfort and in the most peaceful setting. Our hostess Thomasina was most helpful both before (sending us a load of information regarding the cottage facilities, things to do, places to go and of course the Covid regulations) and during our stay. The only disappointment was that the weather wasn't suitable to enjoy the hot tub.

The cottage is lovely, very cosy and well equipped. The garden is a real sun trap and there are lovely views from the cottage. We really appreciated the hot tub after a days walking. It’s ideally situated for walking the Shropshire way. It’s an easy mile walk into Clun which is a picturesque village with pubs and cafes. Thomasina was a great host and very helpful.

Overall we liked the cottage and had a relaxing break.

Great for walking. Hot tub was a treat. Living room was cosy. Great to have footstools which we have found quite rare. Beds were comfy. The walk into Clun was lovely. As we are tall we found upstairs a lttle cramped and kept banging our heads on the eaves. Really missed having a washing machine. Never even thought to check on booking because over the last twenty years of cottage holidays I don't believe we have ever stayed where there wasnt even access to a washer. If you are in the countryside and going walking where it can be very muddy it is good to be able to wash dirty clothes rather than bringing home. Minor point in the scheme of things and overall we had a lovely stay.

Awesome cottage in a superb location.

Thomasina has all bases and more covered at Bicton Lodge; high spec, plenty of space, cosy log fire, hot tub, tranquility and an outstanding view of the rolling Shropshire Hills. Our first time here and the cottage provided a fantastic base to get out walking all round the local beautiful areas, short drives to Powys Castle, Montgomery and Ludlow and even a drive out to take on a walk to the top of Snowdon - the location is ideal. Clun is only a very pleasant short walk away to use Pubs, Cafes and Restaurants. Still so much more to do and see, we’ll be back for sure.

A charming & spotlessly clean cottage retreat, the hot tub was truly relaxing with beautiful views of the countryside, local walks, friendly village nearby etc only enhanced by our hosts warm & welcoming hospitality.

We had an amazing family holiday with the added bonus of our children meeting and falling in love with Stan & Couscous - the hosts family pets ♥

Bicton Lodge is an amazing place to stay!

The cottage is cosy and has everything you need for a fantastic break away. The views from the patio are amazing - sitting in the hot tub is the perfect way to enjoy them! Thomasina was fabulous & did all she could to make sure we had a great holiday.

It’s not what it’s made out to be.

After reading all of the amazing reviews on this lodge me and my partner couldn’t wait to go. We booked 7 nights away there and we came home early. The lodge is in somebody back gardens, you don’t have any privacy. It fails to tell you that you are miles and miles away from any kind of shop. We had the owners son just walk straight into our gardens no warning not even a text message to check the hot tub. In the owners back garden there is a punch bag for the son, the son was on the punch bag from around 21:00 till around 22:30. The issue here is the punch bag is on a tree which hang in the garden of the lodge so we had leaves and branches breaking off into the garden right where the hot tub is, also when the bag is punched it hits the fencing of the lodge garden so for 1hr 30 minutes we had constant banging on the fence later on at night. We just didn’t have any privacy whatsoever so we left early. The lodge is only good for a couple of days and if you don’t want to do anything apart from chill at the lodge.

Wow from start to finish, the Lodge has amazing views, beautifully modern and clean.

Hot tubing under the stars was lovely. On arrival we were greeted and shown around. There was a lovely welcome basket full of goodies. Plenty of walks, great local pubs and facilities, everyone was so friendly. We wished we had booked for longer. We will 100% be back, i can see why Bicton Lodge is always booked. If you are looking for the ideal getaway, then get booking here, you won't regret it.

A wonderful little lodge in the rolling countryside - extremely peaceful, well appointed and comfortable.

Couldn't find anything negative to say!

We had a fantastic break at Bicton Lodge, the hot tub was a pleasant bonus.

We were met by the owner Thomasina who gave us a very warm welcome including a basket of local goodies containing: Welsh cakes, Clun ale, lemonade and essentials like tea, coffe, sugar, milk, butter and jam.

There was also a vase of nice fresh flowers. The Lodge itself is lovely - clean, tidy and well maintained and a great base to return to after a day's exploring, especially the hot tub! This was our first visit to the area and we found the lodge to be central to all the places we wanted to see and a great base for walking, cycling etc. The view from the lodge is beautiful and very relaxing from the cows in the field outside to the green hills in the distance. If you have nice weather as we were lucky enough to enjoy I would highly recommend Powis Castle and Gardens and Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (both National Trust and Simply stunning in the sunshine)! There are lots of great pubs around and we didn't have a bad meal out all week but I would highly recommend the Lion at Leintwardine about 25 mins drive from the lodge, lovely setting by the river, great food and excellent service by friendly staff. If you are considering the lodge all I can say is don't hesitate!

Just far enough out of town to feel remote and tranquil, but an easy walk into town and to the great pubs Cottage itself is just as advertised, small but perfectly formed and a lovely place to while away the day. Would definitely go back.

A private hot tub over looking a field of lovely cows! The lodge was stunning, clean and had many little add ons such as extra blankets & lamps so truly felt like home. We came away feeling so relaxed!

Thomasina has put a lot of effort into the Lodges binder which has all the information needed in regard to the Lodge and pamphlets of the local amenities, places to visit and eat which was very welcome knowing we are new to the area. The surrounding area was as we were expecting - the outlook from the Lodge is picturesque, very quiet and peaceful - was enjoyed by the three of us. The hot tub was wonderful. My niece who is 10 loved it as we all did. We travelled every day and visited Welsh Pool, Church Stretton, Bridgnorth (the Cliff top railway which is worth a visit) and Ludlow. The scenery was spectacular. This is definitely a Lodge we would stay at again. 10 out of 10.

What a lovely 3 night stay we had at Bicton Lodge!

We decided to book it very last minute after our wedding as a little family get away and Thomasina was brilliant getting back to us so quickly and having the lodge ready for our arrival! The lodge is perfect for a relaxing getaway away it has all you need and the hot tub and log burner are great. Lovely walks are just on the doorstep and the views from the lodge are lovely. Thank you so much for a brilliant few days as new Mr and Mrs. We will most defiantly be returning :)

Bicton lodge was everything we hoped for and more.

The lodge was cosy and tastefully decorated. The beds were super comfortable. The lodge was set in an extremely peaceful location and the hot tub made the stay even more perfect!

A lovely stay in Bicton Lodge.

The lodge is equipped with everything that you will need for a relaxing break. Beautiful views from the hot tub and garden. Quiet location close to the Shropshire way for walking and within reach of pretty villages for a lazy lunch. Thomasina was delightful, helpful and keeps the lodge maintained to a high standard, thank you.

Me and my girlfriend stoped here for a week to escape the business of our lives.

It was a really nice cottage which we relaxed straight into. the hot tub and the wii made the nights less boring. The Clun village pubs (about a 15 min walk) made for a good trip out one day. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking at escaping from busyness to peace and quiet.

Everything you could wish for. Lovely hot tub overlooking fields. Made to feel very welcome. A very peaceful and relaxing holiday. Will return.

It doesn't get much better than this!

! The cottage was perfect, as were the surroundings. Thomasina was an excellent hostess, she explained everything for us and was available in case we had any problems ( which we didn't!) The whole week was excellent, and the hot tub was an added bonus!

We had an amazing week at Bicton lodge.

We were met by Thomasina who was very friendly and really made us feel at home. A welcome basket was a nice touch with Local Ale, Lemonade, Welsh cakes, Tea and Coffee and even mini chocolate eggs (for Easter) which were a hit with my boys. The lodge is decorated to a high standard and was very clean. The log burner was perfect for cosy nights in and the hot tub was great! The kitchen had everything needed and was a real home from home. The village of Clun was a nice walk via the shropshire way and worth a visit for the tea rooms and food at the local pub. We loved it so much that we have booked to return again next year!

Just got back from an amazing weekend at Bicton Lodge.

From the moment we arrived we had a wonderful experience from meeting with Thomasina to enjoying the hot tub. The location is perfect. Views from all windows are picturesque. The Lodge is in a very quiet location just a short drive to the nearer village. Everything has been thought of, it was very much a home from home. We really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub followed by cosying up next to the log burner. We took our 2 year old son. High chair and stair gates were provided. There is also a travel cot you could use. The lodge has been furnished to a high standard and I am sure anyone who stays here will not regret it!

The lodge itself is beautiful and a good size, the views are spectacular and it's in a very good location. Worth every penny.

Our holiday at this property was just perfect.

Starting with the fantastic service on behalf of Sykes. The owner of the property is very friendly and attentive. Regarding the property it was just ideal for us. Fantastic facilities, very comfy beds and extremely clean. The kitchen is well equipped, the downstairs is great too, wii games kept us entertained in the evening with the fire going and the hot tub was a real treat. the property is so lovely, its very apparent that the owners have put a lot of thought into it and pay attention to detail, you'll find all you need in the property form extra blankets in bedrooms to baking equipment in the kitchen. Fantastic views form the fab top to bottom double doors in the kitchen and the lounge area. It was so relaxing to wake up to the gorgeous views form the bedroom, fantastic rural getaway location. Just a step away form the lovely village of Clun, some great pubs for a drink and food and a fab starting point for a walk. We did a 5 mile walk and it was excellent, breathtaking views! Overall we would definitely recommend this property, for families or as a base for a romantic getaway for couples.

Biction Lodge was a fabulous place to stay.

It was in a great location, with superb view ( especially when it snowed) and we were warmly met by the owner who couldn't have done enough to make our stay the best it could be. We had everything we needed including a wide range of utensils and crockery and even decent pans and knives! We receive lots of local goodies on arrival and enjoyed all the attentions to detail that were in the lodge. It was beautifully decorated and the hot tub was a real treat. We would definitely recommend this property. Thank you

Bicton lodge is a pretty, tranquil little haven.

Our 18month old son was in heaven. My wife enjoyed her 30th in a place where her 30s couldnt find her. Very impressed.

This was a truly lovely holiday.

Tomesina was so warm and welcoming and answered all our questions. I would revisit in a heart beat - i am already looking at some dates!

We had a fantastic week.

Thomasina couldn't have been a more perfect host, she was there if we needed her but unobtrusive otherwise. The cottage is wonderful! Finished to a very high standard. The views from the lounge are amazing. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Wonderful!
