    “Great location, right by the river Clun - very peaceful.”

    Spacious, well equipped lodge. We had great weather for our stay - however, the outside furniture is incredibly uncomfortable and doesn’t really encourage you to sit and enjoy the decking, which is a shame. Unfortunately there were also issues with the lodge’s internet - I know….beautiful location, so who cares about that. But as I’m recovering from a recent operation doing loads of walking and other activities isn’t possible for me currently, so it was important and one of the ...

We managed to piggyback onto the other lodge as advised. But it wasn’t great. The representative did assist from a distance and explained the owner had reset the internet a couple of times for Chestnut Lodge, however, it did not solve the problem and we gave up trying, and just used next doors as advised. Slight problem for our stay given my circumstances, but we would book again….hopefully so I can see the Grey Heron come to the river.

A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May.
